Games coming thick and fast. Get this one kicked off.
I'll go 3-1 Villa - Tammy, Anwar and McGinn
-
Was at Preston today & they were terrible.
Not predicting anything because I know how that goes.
-
Villa win 1-3
Abraham x 2, Chester.
I hope McGinn keeps his nose clean and stops getting stupid bookings.
-
1-3 Villa.

agreed. He got one the other day for throwing the ball away and today for something he didn't need to say to the ref. I love his passion and energy but it's not good to us if he's suspended watching the game from the stands.
-
I would sooner have John McGinn picking up cards than Westwood being neat and tidy.
-
Me too, Brian , but Westwood would have done well in this team under this manager I think.
-
2-1 to the Villa with the large following behind the lads
-
3-0 Villa.

Could of been 1k more I would of thought.
-
Preston have done us enough favours over the last few seasons, let’s beat them this time.
-
Key players missing for Preston:
Tom Clarke
Ben Davies
Ben Pearson
Louis Moult
Callum Robinson
Sean Maguire
That's two defenders, their best central midfielder (although Alan Browne is in good form) and three forwards.
Think it will be the same as last season and we'll win by two clear goals, 1-3.
-
3-1 to the good guys. Much like us playing Forest is the rarity of 2 former Champions of Europe playing each other in the second tier, i'm guessing that us v Preston is the only fixture former double winners have played each other in the second tier, certainly in this country.

When we talk about fans of long suffering clubs I always think PNE fans are forgotten in all the debates.
They last played top flight football in the mid 60s. In last 20 years they've failed 4 times to get up through the play offs to premier league (lost the final twice) and seen in recent times other forgotten 60s teams like Huddersfield, Burnley and Blackpool all play top flight football. And Wigan.
Nice away day anyway. Good town and big away allocation which we've sold out yet again.
-
0-2
-
Seems like a good time to be playing them. They came into form but seem to have dipped again
We don't have too many options to change things. But I'd bring bjarnason in for whelan and adomah for el ghazi if they're ready to start
-
Another 1-0 and clean sheet. It's all about three points.
-
2-0 win

They had a couple go off injured today too I think

Away win, and possibly the biggest collection of pissed up away supporters this season to boot.

Tom Clarke & Ben Davies were the 2 who were replaced today. ‘Coming back to fitness’ rather than injured.
-
Looking forward to going with 5,599 others.

Looking forward to going with 5,599 others.
If you were Leeds you'd be going with 5,600.
-
No 3-3
No penalties conceded
No Cheesie sending off
No penalties taken by whelan
Certainly no cabbages
3-0 villa
-
On paper this is the start of a 6 game league run of games which are all winnable. This is where we need to start putting big pressure on those above us. Get those wins and our automatic promotion prospects will look realistic.
-
We got through that tough run with a very respectable points outlay. Now we need to make it count with our 'easier' run of fixtures. 1-2.
-
0 2

But telling everyone 9,999
-
I think Kodjia will start this one (and possibly Uncle Albert) just to keep things fresh, but can't see any other changes to the line-up. As SoccerHQ pointed-out, they're as injury-hot as we are so no reason we can't go there and look for the win. That's the great thing about Dean Smith - we know that we'll be looking to play on the front-foot wherever we go.
-
There have been a few times when we have played ‘injury hot’ teams, but they always seem to put on a performance against us.
I’m going for a 3-0 away win though.
-
I'm going for the draw again - since it often means I'm wrong & we 'mostly' win (honest).
So 1-1 it is then; and fingers crossed SJM doesn't pick up another card.

2-0 Villa win.

I see what you did there.

Talking with a PNE fan yesterday, said they were abysmal against Hull.
Apparantly Robinson is out injured for them too.
0-2

0-2
He's been out since November 24th, was in best scoring run of his career before then.
Daniel Johnson was also supposed to be out until New Year but he recovered quickly and has played their last few games although would imagine xmas period would be a struggle.
-
With a full strength side, we would would be looking at a comfortable victory.
So, I'm going for another uncomfortable win. 1-0.
-
Would be great if we could defend for this one. Then we’ll win comfortably.
-
They have loads of injuries and we need the three points 4-1 villa
-
On Paper i'd say another win. what the hell lets jinx it. 1-2
-
Deepdale is the oldest continuously used football stadium in the world.
-
It's always dark in the stands at Deepdale, like Stamford Bridge and Upton Park before them.
-
Are we taking 5,600 there? Good effort fellow Villains!
-
0-2 Tidy win
-
I’m looking forward to the trip but hope it’s more successful than the last time I went there.
-
0-5 Tammy x4 and Connor. Christmas fixtures can usually throw up some big scores an weird results.
-
I went to Deepdale as a lad when Tom Finney was in his pomp. In the intervening period Deepdale has gone through Astroturf and flatpack makeover phases. It is now an historic football history site in a middle class suburb. Not a proper pub or chip shop within (old bloke) walking distance.
Us Two them Ought as my father used to say.
-
I think we'll win this one 3-1

I used to work not far from Deepdale, it's not middle class found there Brian. Rough as a badger's arse. And there's a chippy the other side of Blackpool Road.
-
that's the way I remember it too

I used to live in St Anthony's Rd, that's the first road past the park on your way into town. Burgled 3 times in 2 years and had bottles thrown at me on more than one occasion... define middle class??
I like Deepdale, one of the locals in my pub was a major sponsor, so spent many a happy afternoon in the box getting drunk and feeling smug about heating. 1-4 the villa Hourihane, Abraham, Chester, Abraham. I have a dream.
-
Well at least this time when we play Preston, we won't be changing manager afterwards.
1-4 to the Villa, Whelan to score a penalty ;)
-
2-0 us.
-
We seem to have been a lot more defensively solid away from home recently (only conceded 2 in the last 4 away games and they were both at Albion) so hopefully we can continue that and get a convincing win tomorrow.
-
1-3
Hourihane (2), og

Good observation. So, why are we so leaky at VP?
-
Had a dream last night we won 4-0, but I think it may have involved Swansea rather than Preston. Anyway, Preston 0 Villa 4.

Sandwell is only a few miles from VP - it might be the poor air quality.
-
At home we seem to be prepared to keep the wingers forward and allow their wingers to play 1 v 1. Plus our two attacking midfielders seem to empty the midfield earlier.
That's how it looks to me anyway.

And one of those goals was "an illegal".

Leaving shortly to pick up 3 other Bournemouth Lions. Let's keep the good away form going. UTV

It seemed very middle class to me when Lucas and I went last year. It is all very relative. We searched for a cafe and found nail bars. Then we searched for a pub and found wine bars. Then we asked about fish and chips and were directed to a van on the car park. Not a whippet or a tripe dressers in sight. It was all as working class as Coronation Steet. That is, not working class at all.
-
So a van in a car park serving fish and chips, and lots of nail bars, are middle class...
I think you might have a heart attack if you visited Richmond

No. It is posted tongue in cheek because Risso is a friend of mine and we contradict each other. I distinctly remember a neon sign advertising Quinoa on the right about a mile from the ground but that is neither here nor there, my point was, and remains that many historic football grounds that were bedded deep in industrial cities are now marooned in suburbia of varying degrees of prosperity. See LS Lowry's 'Going To The Match'.
-
No we don't.

Right. I used to get up at 2 in t’morning half an hour before I went to bed, catch t’horses to pull t’range rover to Deepdale to watch Tom Finneys Grandad. We were so poor we had to dig up t’tatties growin in t’centre circle to cook us own chips and when we had watched Villa win 17-0 ( Bert Devey with 5 hat tricks) our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi’ broken bottle . And you try tellin that t’ middle class kids of today and they won’t believe you. ( copyright Sir Michael Palin 1974)

::) ??? :o

Need another win today.
-
I have this feeling that something special might happen today, for no obvious reason other than we are taking thousands and PNE are supposedly injury ravaged.

That's as maybe Bri: but how many folk knew how to pronounce t' Quinoa correctly eh? ;)
-
Taking my 5 year old to this one, have a good feeling we are going to win well today. They do have a lot of injuries, and we should score a few. Not convinced about the defence but we should have enough to win this.
I wouldn't underestimate them though, after a bad start they have been on pretty good form.

Is it pronounced kwin-ower? I don't actually know what it is. I'm proud to be working class ha.
PNE 0 Villa 5. Don't know why I think that but we need to get our season going with a bang.

While we are on subject of how to speak it proper it's Connor How- ra- han .

And it tastes 'kin orrible.

It doesn't taste of anything until it's been seasoned. It's like saying that pasta tastes horrible.
Edit: I've just defended quinoa. Oh God.
