This is the average number of away fans at that ground.

And average attendance if you take out the away fans.

Interesting... So overall who wins, us or dirty Leeds?
-
Us.
Leeds stopped us getting 5k at Ipswich by being twats and they're entitled to a bigger allocation at the Sty.
-
In terms of percentage of away tickets sold, we would be top of that easily.
-
Absolutely disgraceful that we are not top of every list going.
Our fans are abysmal.
Leeds would have taken 3 million.
Etc etc etc.
-
"We are top of the percentage of away tickets sold league, I said we are top of the percentage of away tickets sold league." I like it, it's catchy.
sha would want a civic parade if they ever managed that.
-
Where’s the noise level tables?
-
That average number of away fans table is interesting - more would rather go to Small Heath than Villa (which they'll probably get v. excited about) and Wolves are right down towards the bottom of the list.
-
Boro bottom. Only us and Leeds took a full allocation there. Leeds made more noise, probably.
-
That is very impressive for Leeds given how long they have been shite.

Isn't that due to them giving bigger allocations than we do?

Yes I agree, probably the most loyal fans in the country, since they've been 14 seasons out of the top flight.
-
Where’s the noise level tables?
No point in having as we all know the loudest noisiest ground by a million decibels is in Small Heath.

I'd imagine it's more likely that our games were more consistently fucked about with by telly companies.
-
So we've the biggest aggregate, despite being on TV far more than the rest and having kick offs messed about.
I'm surprised at the away attendances at each ground, though Fulham and Barnsley must be a good day out!
-
Fulham will be even higher, too. Those stats won't include the away fans who purchase tickets in the "neutral section". And yes, Fulham and Barnsley are both great days out.
-
got to say Barnsley town centre before the game was top notch.
-
I’m surprised the Blues’ away averages are so high considering how utterly shit they been. So a small word of praise for those hardy wankers.
-
disappointed with our home attendances but will be upto where it should be next year . think we've done over 22,000 season tickets for next season so far . think we will average over 30,000 next season . our away is about right considering the logistics of where we are .

I think the amount of mid week home / televised games we have had might have something to do with this too.

How does that explain Wolves then?

Fans in this division aren't going to miss out on a chance to visit CampNeux.

I’ll have a look at who they have played at home ,what day / time it was and if it was televised. I know we played some of the already poorest supported teams like QPR in midweek We also played teams like Sunderland late in the season, they’d have brought far more on a Saturday earlier in the season .We’re not talking much difference between ours and Wolves figures so not much required to tip the scales IMO
-
32k home average is pretty decent at this level too. What's that, a couple of thousand drop on our Premier League average?
I think that's the thing with the Villa, people talk about our potential pulling power, but our attendances never seem to change that drastically whether we're in the top third of the Premier League or bottom third of the Championship.
-
It's 7-8,000 lower than when we had a pretty dreary home record for 3 years under O'Neill.

Their team has a much bigger chance of winning at Small Heath than at Wolves or Villa?

That’s the only period I can recall in all my years of watching the Villa that attendances we’re consistently high. I reckon JJ-AV is right, our norm is for the attendance to be well short of capacity with the odd full house.

You've also got to factor in things like cost and availability of tickets etc.
-
The away end at Wolves is crap aswell. One of the worst around, spread all along the side of the pitch.
We're not as high as you may think for visiting fans because of midweek games and a lot of teams like Reading, QPR, Norwich etc have been here many times over the years. Also, our home record is very good so teams may have wrote it off that they'll lose here.

I think mid table Prem would yield about 37k average. Top6 in Prem now would be over 40k

Does no-one else play at home midweek or against teams they've played before then?

Wolves is a shit away day, you can't drink anywhere within a five mile radius of the ground. Millwall is more welcoming. I'd imagine most neutrals enjoy a day at Villa or Blose given the plethora of pubs and easy transport links.

Cardiff and Reading two utterly awful motorway service station type effort miles from anywhere.
Fulham must be the best away day ?

Millwall is not welcoming in any way whatsoever. You can find good boozers because it is London but it is the opposite of a god day out.
-
it is the opposite of a god day out.
Not on the piss, my lord!

Barnsley away end holds 5.5k.

Isn't it still a hangover from changing your shirts to Red that one season?
-
Capped at 4,500 after those loveable twats from Elland Road acted like the massive throbbers they are last season.

Really?
When I went to Wolves for the Robbie Keane game in 2012 I started off in the JQ for a little tipple, got the metro up to Wednesbury where I met a Wolves mate, continued on metro to Wolves where we went into the Great Western and then to a few other pubs like the Billy Wright etc.
Of course given how close it is you can just stay in town and get the train in at 2 or whatever the kick off is.
I think Molinuex's a good ground and crucially piss easy to get to from the town centre. Give me more grounds like that than soulless stadiums miles out of town like Reading.

Cardiff isn't that far out, you can actually work it from the city centre in 20 odd minutes or just get a train up to Canton I think.

It's fine if you know the area, but most away fans won't, and I was talking generically rather than just about Villa trips there. It's ludicrous that Wolves fans are such pathetic children that they can't be trusted to coexist with rival fans anywhere in their city.
-
I’ve never had a problem drinking in the Great Western before matches against Wolves, always a healthy amount of Villa in there.
-
Talking genetically?
I thought this was a football forum?

Is it them, or is it the police imposing restrictions?
-
It's the same police as us and Blose, isn't it? Away fans aren't banned from drinking in Birmingham when one of us it at home so, even if it is a police decision, it must be made on the assumption that Wolves fans can't be trusted to behave themselves around supporters of the opposition.

No idea what you mean, honest. 😬

Considering what some of them did to that Watford fan i'm not surprised.

It's the same police force, but it's not the same operational unit. I suppose they could argue that as the ground is so close to the city centre it could cause problems if large numbers of away supporters were present there.

If you want a beer a bit nearer against them next season then all head for my Uncle Roger's house in Codsall. I am sure he wouldn't mind.....
