Good to see Jack starting and good that Jedi is back. Prefer him to Elphick.

A surprisingly attacking line up, happy with that.

Yes Moyes has taken over and we are playing the 4-6-0.

Looks like Albert might be up front

Point taken but Albert has been banging them in so perhaps him up front with Jack just behind may work. It does mean that we don't have anyone to hold it up though as Davies would which could be a problem.

May mean our players have to pass to each other - not really known in any team managed by Potato. Can we do it?

What the fek is that money sponging cockwomble Agbonlahor doing anywhere near the first team???
Someone asked on facebook if SB has had a funny turn, I'd say he's been on the funny fags myself!!!

No Center forward doesn’t necessity mean not attacking

But we’ll have to cut out all those long balls into Davis’s chest

Think grealish will be left wing which isn’t ideal

I’m expecting hogan to come home n when it’s not working but let’s hope I’m being pessimistic

2 reasons. 1, he's shit and so won't contribute, and 2, he's a cockwomble (as pointed out above). We don't want his kind near our players.

I agree about Grealish. Hope he doesn't play there because it's a complete waste. Rather Onomah out there and Grealish play in the middle.

You'd like to think that Jack, Albert and Hourihane will all link up with each other with quick passing and movement pulling their defence apart. I fear it's gonna be more like launching the ball over Jack and Connors head to an isolated Albert. SB may surprise me and it'll be the former.

Well that side will certainly disrupt the Derby defence as to who to mark and may have them having to come out to pick up players.
The big question is where will Bruce play Hourihane and Onamah. I hope he finally wakes up to see that Onamah is a better player in a deeper but mobile role and Hourihane the better attacking midfielder with a real goal threat. I'm not holding my breath though.

At least we'll see an end to pointlessly hoofing the ball up to Davis. We have enough talented players in that team to play it on the deck. The inclusion of Grealish only adds to that. Where he'll play I have no idea. I can only assume Bruce will push Albert into the middle with Grealish on the left. I'd prefer we stick with Albert and Snodgrass out wide with Jack given a free role and Hourihane getting up into the box, Lampard style.

Neither Hepburn-Murphy or Davis are match-fit, so no not really, anymore than Kodija or McCormack would be realistic suggestions.

O'Hare is another advanced mid/withdrawn striker of which we're already playing three.

It’s all good and well getting fired up over Gabby but if the alternatives aren’t even available you go with what is. None of the players you’ve mentioned are options. O’Hare isn’t even a forward.

When you consider that it’s really been our midfield scoring most of the goals this season then this line up is fine. What we might also find is less punts up the pitch because we have no target man. We’ll have to play a pressing, possession based game today to win.

Well yes. He’s positionally a forward. So he is an option off the bench to play that position. It’s not that difficult to understand why he’s there.

So what are you suggesting? Just tell him he’ll never play again for the club? This isn’t FIFA or Football Manager. This is real life and whether you like him or not he’s part of the squad. So as long as Bruce likes him he’ll be picked if he’s fit. It’s not that difficult to understand.

Weimann is a good example of the mediocrity we came to be subjected to and led to the inevitable.
I would swap him for Hogan though.

Reached a new low when you concede a goal to a donkey like Weimann. Worst Villa player I ever did see and I saw Ian Olney.

I'll see your Ian Olney and raise you a Richard Walker.

And I’ll see you for Bernie Gallagher.

I'll raise you a Gary 'Gaz' Penrice.

3 harmless shots over the bar and 1 decent effort form Hourihane just now.

It was all a mirage. Bruce led us fools through the desert with the promise of water. For a while it seemed promising. Yet as usual we’re beginning to realize it was all fake and he’s going to let us down again. Two weeks in a row of utter shit football. Possession might be good but there is no end product again.

This result (on safe assumption we lose) and the last 2 are all down to poor transfers and squad management. He can moan all he wants about bad luck with Hutton and Davis but despite all the money we’ve spent we dont have one fit, decent striker or two proper centre backs. An absurd situation to find ourselves in based on a series of dumb ass sales and purchases.

Gabby needs to come on and drag that tugboat Keogh down a channel or two. Onomah is dropping deep.

They can't pick up Grealish with the position he's taking up and running at them, he needs somebody up there to create space and give an option for a pass.

These are defending two solid banks 20-25 yards from goal like an away side.

This isn’t the worst Villa display but we don’t take enough shots on goal and get into dangerous positions. Since the Burton game we’ve scored 13 times in 11 games. 11.5 if you include this one. It’s not good enough.

We are giving the ball away too cheaply, there isn't a lot of movement up front other than Jack, we have no tempo, no passion or desire, Derby are winning all of the second ball and we are making Curtis Davies, Tom Huddlestone and Ted Nugent look like superstars.

Other than that we're great.

Onomah up-front isn't working, like it's any surprise it would. We do deserve to be losing, they've been clean through twice and finally scored from a gift. We've done nothing with the ball so far. If it was 0-0 and it was us who fluffed those good chances, we'd all be saying "we should be winning."

Of course it isn’t but relative to how we should we doing and the resources pumped into this side this is very, very poor. We hired a manager for the very specific reason of getting us promoted and he’s not proving at this point in time he is capable of doing what has been asked of him.

We’re just seeing a reversion to mean. Bruce’s teams don’t score much and when you’re not scoring first or squeaking though games you’ve got no chance of winning on merit. It’s a depressing and fundamentally speculative way of grinding your way out of this league.

Send Snodgrass back in January, I'd rather have Elmo on the wing.

I would not be adverse to a managerial change for the second half of the season. Bruce is sucking the fucking life out of me.

I think that's a great idea.

Me too. But it won't happen, sadly.

Should have been 3-0 there.

Even if we do somehow cling on to a play off place, we never, ever look like beating the better teams around us.

Even if we lose it's not the end of the world.
If you like Championship football.

No I think we will still go up, lots of football still to be played.

Trouble is, we're not playing any of it.

How many shots on target have we had over the last two games?

Top two my arse. Not a prayer.

It’s been one of those horrible ones.

We're flat track bullies and not always that convincing at that.

We cant seem to break teams down when they defend compactly. Grealish was our best offensive player but he doesn't have an end product.

Me four.  Bruce is not, and never has been, the answer to our decline.

The honest truth is we’re rarely that great against the teams we do even manage to beat.

Terry at Chelsea today. Not sure how I feel really, he’s crocked but you’d like to think the club captain would prefer to watch his own team. Oh, hold on...

It’s irrelevant. Why worry about that kind of stuff? He’s not in the squad. It wouldn’t make one bit of difference if was at Derby or not.

Because if the captain can't be arsed why should the rest of the players? It hardly engenders a strong team ethic.

The team shouldn’t need to be motivated by the captain of the team sitting on the bench. If that’s where we are then we are well and truly fucked.

Teams who get promoted from this league tend to do it through being a really close-knit team. It's not about the players being motivated by him being there, it's about them all feeling mutual responsibility to each other.
