Davis injured? No striker?

Good to see Jack starting and good that Jedi is back. Prefer him to Elphick.
A surprisingly attacking line up, happy with that.
-
Presume Davis is injured? Hence no fucking striker in the team!
-
Yes Moyes has taken over and we are playing the 4-6-0.
Looks like Albert might be up front

There’s a couple on the bench

Point taken but Albert has been banging them in so perhaps him up front with Jack just behind may work. It does mean that we don't have anyone to hold it up though as Davies would which could be a problem.

May mean our players have to pass to each other - not really known in any team managed by Potato. Can we do it?

What the fek is that money sponging cockwomble Agbonlahor doing anywhere near the first team???
Someone asked on facebook if SB has had a funny turn, I'd say he's been on the funny fags myself!!!

He’s part of the squad. If he’s fit again and can contribute should he not be a part of 18?
-
Just seen Gabby is on the bench. Why hasn't he pissed off yet?
-
No Center forward doesn’t necessity mean not attacking
But we’ll have to cut out all those long balls into Davis’s chest
Think grealish will be left wing which isn’t ideal
I’m expecting hogan to come home n when it’s not working but let’s hope I’m being pessimistic

2 reasons. 1, he's shit and so won't contribute, and 2, he's a cockwomble (as pointed out above). We don't want his kind near our players.

Pray tell.......just what has the fat waste of space contributed over the past few seasons????

I agree about Grealish. Hope he doesn't play there because it's a complete waste. Rather Onomah out there and Grealish play in the middle.

What the...
What be this strange Witchcraft of which ye speaketh?? :o
-
You'd like to think that Jack, Albert and Hourihane will all link up with each other with quick passing and movement pulling their defence apart. I fear it's gonna be more like launching the ball over Jack and Connors head to an isolated Albert. SB may surprise me and it'll be the former.
-

I thought Derby were decent but Davies and Baird in their starting 11! Well past it
-
No Davis. Am not liking this. He pulls defenders all over the place.

Which other striker would you put on the bench instead today?
-
Well that side will certainly disrupt the Derby defence as to who to mark and may have them having to come out to pick up players.
The big question is where will Bruce play Hourihane and Onamah. I hope he finally wakes up to see that Onamah is a better player in a deeper but mobile role and Hourihane the better attacking midfielder with a real goal threat. I'm not holding my breath though.
At least we'll see an end to pointlessly hoofing the ball up to Davis. We have enough talented players in that team to play it on the deck. The inclusion of Grealish only adds to that. Where he'll play I have no idea. I can only assume Bruce will push Albert into the middle with Grealish on the left. I'd prefer we stick with Albert and Snodgrass out wide with Jack given a free role and Hourihane getting up into the box, Lampard style.

Is a name change in order?

How about O'Hare or Hepburn - Murphy, or Davis if he was fit. Anything but the fat waste of space.

Rather replace him with a youngster from the reserves
-
Davis is ill apparently.
-
I’d forgotten how weird the stairs layout is in the away section
-
So is Albert the big man up front for today?

Neither Hepburn-Murphy or Davis are match-fit, so no not really, anymore than Kodija or McCormack would be realistic suggestions.
O'Hare is another advanced mid/withdrawn striker of which we're already playing three.
-
Keinan Davis ill rather than injured apparently
-
It's certainly an 'interesting' line up. Big Albert to bully the their central defenders & put marauding midfielders in on goal? Righto. ::)

It’s all good and well getting fired up over Gabby but if the alternatives aren’t even available you go with what is. None of the players you’ve mentioned are options. O’Hare isn’t even a forward.
-
When you consider that it’s really been our midfield scoring most of the goals this season then this line up is fine. What we might also find is less punts up the pitch because we have no target man. We’ll have to play a pressing, possession based game today to win.

So you think the money sponge is??? :o
And Callum O'Hare is a Striker/Attacking Midfielder. But if not up to you standards of who is a forward, how about giving Knibbs or Mooney a chance?

Well yes. He’s positionally a forward. So he is an option off the bench to play that position. It’s not that difficult to understand why he’s there.

Pretty shit start

So what are you suggesting? Just tell him he’ll never play again for the club? This isn’t FIFA or Football Manager. This is real life and whether you like him or not he’s part of the squad. So as long as Bruce likes him he’ll be picked if he’s fit. It’s not that difficult to understand.
-
How about he plays a striker that he paid a lot of money for? Oh yeah he’s not very good, well done Bruce, excuses in place already
-
we are having a go here well so far anyway
-
It’s concerning so far that Adomah is on the left. Not sure who he’s crossing to.
-
Johnstone looking dodgy on a cross again. CAn't keep giving Nugent chances like the three he's had.
-
We've had a shot. Jack.
-
AVTV is utter shit
-
Bollocks. Weimann you might have known it.
-
Well, that was a bit of a cock up
-
Whelan has been threatening to do that for a few games.
-
And Weimann scores FFS
-
AVTV is utter shit
Mines fine.
-
Oh for fuck sake. Whelan gives it to them on a plate
-
Great pass Glenn.
-
That's game over then.
-
Fucking hell Whelan are you blind?
-
What the fuck was Whelan doing there?
-
I thought we were playing well up to that point
-
FFS
-
That's game over then.
why do people always say that when we go a goal down when it’s clearly not

That's game over then.

It was usually a fair thing to say for the whole of 2014-2016 but not since
-
Game over me thinks
-
Doing our best to press the self destruct button.
-
We seem determined to give this game away at the moment

Well I'll be delighted to be wrong.
-
I've just got back home: & I see the inevitable's happened. Andy Weimann eh? Well I'm blowed... ::)

We must be watching different games. We'd had 10 minutes of pretty meaningless possesion creating nothing. They'd had 3 chances before we'd touched teh ball.
-
Don’t think Derby are up to much to be honest, we’ve just done our best to give it to them
-
Jeez this is awful.
It says something when an overweight, 73 year old Tom Huddlestone is schooling us in midfield.
-
Weimann is a good example of the mediocrity we came to be subjected to and led to the inevitable.
-
Reached a new low when you concede a goal to a donkey like Weimann. Worst Villa player I ever did see and I saw Ian Olney.
-
Yes especially when he gets the chance to do that stupid rifle celebration.
-
Why do we never look dangerous from set pieces?
-

I'll see your Ian Olney and raise you a Richard Walker.

I agree with ViD. Durby looked far better before the goal

Bristol City winning.
-
I have no stream so am only following on here. Can someone who has pictures tell us:-
How many efforts on goal have we had?
How many corners have we forced?
-
Weimann is a good example of the mediocrity we came to be subjected to and led to the inevitable.
I would swap him for Hogan though.
-
Tried thinking of recent shit Villa players. There's dozens of them. I'll go Tonev.
-

3 shots, none on goal, 3 corners

3 harmless shots over the bar and 1 decent effort form Hourihane just now.
2 or 3 corners.
-

Oh God yeah. Obviously.
-
Well sounds like a huge response we've managed here.
-

3 corners 2 shots 67 % possession apparently.
-
We’re still shit aren’t we.
-
anyone else having problems with AVTV?
-
I’ve seen us play a lot lot worse than this, this season
-

bbc site says 3 shots, but they may well be wrong.
-
Unfortunately for us Rowett plays negative possession football especially once they get in front. We won’t have a clue how to get back into it.
-
Time for Bruce to work his magic and turn the game with inspiring substitutions and a breathtaking change of tactics. Or maybe more of the same and hope for the best.
-
anyone else having problems with AVTV?
Sadly working ok so far.
-
No issues with AVTV here, other than the usual low volume every game.
-
It was all a mirage. Bruce led us fools through the desert with the promise of water. For a while it seemed promising. Yet as usual we’re beginning to realize it was all fake and he’s going to let us down again. Two weeks in a row of utter shit football. Possession might be good but there is no end product again.
-
Don’t deserve to be losing this game, the fact we are is all our own work. Don’t know what game some of you are watching but I thought we played well but without a cutting edge
-
Dominated the vast majority of it and created their only chances after a slow first minute or two.
Not enough up front and Gabby needs to come on for Onomah.
-
This sounds like utter bollocks.

Yes difficult to keep count. ;)
-
Don't panic folks, we're obviously lulling Derby into a false sense of dominance. It's all part of Bruce's cunning plan - before we blitz 'em in the second half.
-
Don’t deserve to be losing this game, the fact we are is all our own work. Don’t know what game some of you are watching but I thought we played well but without a cutting edge
We’ve not really created much of anything though despite the possession. It’s all pretty without much end product.
-
The possession is all very Lambertesque
-
Not sure what some of your laptops are showing. Utter bollocks? We've bossed them bar a daft pass back by Whelan.
-

No movement in front of the ball, and slow slow passing.

Jesus Christ. Get a flipping grip and stop traumatising people with what that wanker doled out as football.
-
Not sure what some of your laptops are showing. Utter bollocks? We've bossed them bar a daft pass back by Whelan.
We’ve done next to nothing with the possession. How many shots has the keeper had to save?
-
I'm not sure if that was our good half or our bad one.
-
This result (on safe assumption we lose) and the last 2 are all down to poor transfers and squad management. He can moan all he wants about bad luck with Hutton and Davis but despite all the money we’ve spent we dont have one fit, decent striker or two proper centre backs. An absurd situation to find ourselves in based on a series of dumb ass sales and purchases.
-
Gabby needs to come on and drag that tugboat Keogh down a channel or two. Onomah is dropping deep.
They can't pick up Grealish with the position he's taking up and running at them, he needs somebody up there to create space and give an option for a pass.
These are defending two solid banks 20-25 yards from goal like an away side.
-
This isn’t the worst Villa display but we don’t take enough shots on goal and get into dangerous positions. Since the Burton game we’ve scored 13 times in 11 games. 11.5 if you include this one. It’s not good enough.
-

Playing 6 midfielders is a great way to out possess teams whilst losing, let’s do it every week.
-
Not sure what some of your laptops are showing. Utter bollocks? We've bossed them bar a daft pass back by Whelan.
Hilarious.
-
We are giving the ball away too cheaply, there isn't a lot of movement up front other than Jack, we have no tempo, no passion or desire, Derby are winning all of the second ball and we are making Curtis Davies, Tom Huddlestone and Ted Nugent look like superstars.
Other than that we're great.
-
We're playing 7 midfielders. Unless you are being incredibly obtuse you'd recognise that Jedinak is playing at centre half and Onomah up top.
Some of you need to go Christmas shopping.
Back out now. Let's twat these cloggers.
-
Not sure what some of your laptops are showing. Utter bollocks? We've bossed them bar a daft pass back by Whelan.

disagree
From what I’ve seen we have every chance of getting something out of this game
-
Not sure what some of your laptops are showing. Utter bollocks? We've bossed them bar a daft pass back by Whelan.
Hilarious.
?!?
-
Well let's go and fucking get something out of it then Villa.
-
Onomah up-front isn't working, like it's any surprise it would. We do deserve to be losing, they've been clean through twice and finally scored from a gift. We've done nothing with the ball so far. If it was 0-0 and it was us who fluffed those good chances, we'd all be saying "we should be winning."
-
No changes ?
-
Not sure what some of your laptops are showing. Utter bollocks? We've bossed them bar a daft pass back by Whelan.
To say the obvious there are no points rewarded for bossing. We have to score goals can not afford to lose this match.
-
Close

0-0 from two dour teams would have been fair. By no stretch were we worth a lead.
-
Snodgrass you twat
-
All over them now, need a bit of luck
-
No posts for full five minutes. This must be some sort of record for a match thread.
-
Beginning to wonder who’s side Whelan is on!
-
Whelan been on the sauce last night it seems.
-
Ref is starting to get annoying
-
Fucking come on, two defeats in a row is unacceptable.
-
We just do not score enough goals.
-
Fucking come on, two defeats in a row is unacceptable.
We didn't lose the last game.
-
Fucking come on, two defeats in a row is unacceptable.

Just felt like one.

Didn't we draw last week?
-
Hogan coming on
-
Fucking come on, two defeats in a row is unacceptable.
We didn't lose the last game.
He knows we’ll lose the next
-
Draw at home is as bad as losing we lost two pints.
-
Oops yeah! Weird how the mind plays tricks.
-
Hogan on for Whelan. Onomah dropping back into midfield.
-
how can he take Whelan off he’s had a stormer
-
Desperate times call for desperate measures, Hogan !
-
Come on Scotty son time you earned your money
-
A forward coming on? Shirley not?!
-
A forward coming on? Shirley not?!
Not quite, it's Hogan the non-forward.
-
Another clown show back pass nearly creates another goal for them
-
70% possession according to Beeb. With eight shots each.
-
Looks like RDL might be next on
-
Come on Hogan.Try not to look fat and then disinterested after your first couple of half hearted 10yd runs.
-
Good save Jonstone.
-
Fucking hell. Great save Sam from the corner
-
We keep giving the ball away. We don’t take enough shots, let alone get shots on target.
-
We're playing 7 midfielders. Unless you are being incredibly obtuse you'd recognise that Jedinak is playing at centre half and Onomah up top.
Unless you’re being incredibly obtuse you’d recognise that having a midfielder up front isn’t the same as having a striker.
-
Not sure we will get the play offs at this rate
-
This is so poor
-
Not going to be our day I fear
-
Even if we lose it's not the end of the world.
-
I think we are going to be staying a few seasons in this league. Fail to get up this year and we are financially fucked
-
I think we are going to be staying a few seasons in this league. Fail to get up this year and we are financially fucked
how pathetic we've been given the resources we had. Same old shit. No plan and it'll fuck us more than Lerner did.
-
This is getting very depressing.
-
Even if we lose it's not the end of the world.
If you like Championship football.
-
Even if we lose it's not the end of the world.
Of course it isn’t but relative to how we should we doing and the resources pumped into this side this is very, very poor. We hired a manager for the very specific reason of getting us promoted and he’s not proving at this point in time he is capable of doing what has been asked of him.
Like I said earlier 13 goals in now almost 12 games is dreadful.
-
Gabby time
-
Gabby's coming on
-
And here comes Agbonlahor for Onomah
-
On for Onomah
-

Don’t worry they will though.

No I think we will still go up, lots of football still to be played.
-
Jacks been good today

Terry at Chelsea today. Not sure how I feel really, he’s crocked but you’d like to think the club captain would prefer to watch his own team. Oh, hold on...

It’s irrelevant. Why worry about that kind of stuff? He’s not in the squad. It wouldn’t make one bit of difference if was at Derby or not.

We’re just seeing a reversion to mean. Bruce’s teams don’t score much and when you’re not scoring first or squeaking though games you’ve got no chance of winning on merit. It’s a depressing and fundamentally speculative way of grinding your way out of this league.

I would not be averse to a managerial change for the second half of the season. Bruce is sucking the fucking life out of me.
-
Fucking hell all over
-
2-0 Game over and fuck off.
-
Game over

I think that's a great idea.
-
Good to see we've used our dominance to batter these.
-
He looked a mile off then
-
I know, ANOTHER bad day at the office?
-
This Ref is a c**t
-
Send Snodgrass back in January, I'd rather have Elmo on the wing.
-
Move along please, nothing to see here!!

I think that's a great idea.
Me too. But it won't happen, sadly.
-
Should have been 3-0 there.

Me three.

Even if we do somehow cling on to a play off place, we never, ever look like beating the better teams around us.
-
There's a surprise. Fucking hopeless.
-
Even if we lose it's not the end of the world.
If you like Championship football.
No I think we will still go up, lots of football still to be played.
Trouble is, we're not playing any of it.
-
12 shots but only two on target.
-
Another championship season beckons.
-
How many shots on target have we had over the last two games?
Top two my arse. Not a prayer.
-
I know, ANOTHER bad day at the office?
It’s been one of those horrible ones.
-
Even if we do somehow cling on to a play off place, we never, ever look like beating the better teams around us.
We're flat track bullies and not always that convincing at that.
-
We cant seem to break teams down when they defend compactly. Grealish was our best offensive player but he doesn't have an end product.
-
We go again...[cry]
-
Me four. Bruce is not, and never has been, the answer to our decline.
-
WANK
-
Even if we do somehow cling on to a play off place, we never, ever look like beating the better teams around us.
The honest truth is we’re rarely that great against the teams we do even manage to beat.

Because if the captain can't be arsed why should the rest of the players? It hardly engenders a strong team ethic.
-
WANK
Good idea, take your mind off the result.

The team shouldn’t need to be motivated by the captain of the team sitting on the bench. If that’s where we are then we are well and truly fucked.

Teams who get promoted from this league tend to do it through being a really close-knit team. It's not about the players being motivated by him being there, it's about them all feeling mutual responsibility to each other.
