* match to be played Tuesday 19th September.
-
Lets have the Baggies at Villa Park
-
Burton, Cheltenham, Doncaster, Rotherham or Rochdale at home.
-
Whenever we have been promoted in our history, we have always beaten at least one top flight team in a cup competition.
I wouldn't mind drawing a lower-Premier League team that would play their reserves, playing a strongish team against them and getting a confidence-boosting win. Someone like Swansea at home.
Not Man United. I'm enjoying the respite from our abject surrenders against them, and can't remember a Steve Bruce team ever winning against them.
-
We can play a top fight side in the final and twat them as we complete the first part of the treble.
-
Any Bristol side.
-

Millwall got knocked out.

Leeds at home please, Bob.
-
How do we watch the draw?
edit: shit...wrong day!
-
I hope you didn't set your alarm for that!
-
Home draw please.
-
Baggies at home and a nice 2-0 win :)
-
Bolton away for me!
-
Arsenal at home as they are going to field their wrapped in cotton wool youths.
-
Norwich please. They must be sick of us, i want them to be even sicker.
-
I would like to draw a lower league club at home please let's see how far we can go in the league cup because winning breeds confidence.
-
Anyone but Manure. I don't need the seething anger and pain. Can live with any other defeat. Norwich at home would be nice...
-
Bolton away - easy one for me to get to and could be another 4 goal romp for us.
-
Cheltenham away please....
-
Everton away shades of 75 and 77 I would be happy any nw club away
-
Bristol Rovers at home please. With them playing their reserves!
-
Cheltenham away please....
Same
-
More than happy to give a pre game pub tour if that miracle actually happened.....
-
Cheltenham v West Ham is on Sky Sports Mix, so you can watch it on Virgin.
Shame they didn't pick Blackburn Burnley, but ah well.
-
Barnet at home
-
Is the 3rd round seeded?
-
Is the 3rd round seeded?
I don't think it is. Just looked it up and it is unseeded.
-
Everton away shades of 75 and 77 I would be happy any nw club away
Defo Everton away for me too..be nice to be home within an hour after the final whistle for a change.
-
How about Tranmere Rovers!
-
They're not eligible to enter as they are no longer in the League.

I thought they had a bye to the 3rd round!
-
Anybody else awake and excited as me for the draw?
Draw being made in 15 minutes, I'm predicting Bristol Rovers away.
-
Oops. I've now just seen the other thread..... it must be the excitement.

I'm up. It's only half-eleven here off Puerto Rico. Any news?
-
Bit dodgy that it doesn't seem live anywhere.
-
Bit dodgy that it doesn't seem live anywhere.
The Telegraph are doing live updates.
-
Carabao are getting a right pasting on Twitter for this. Every round so far they've messed up.
-
WBA v Man City
Finally it's started!
-
No wonder they are so slow, instead of just typing the ties they're making pics for each tie.
-
So you have to wait while someone makes this
(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DH9w_uyWsAAW6dV.png)
-
2-3 mins for them to announce each tie the twats
-
We are going to get Chelsea aren't we? The Terry wankfest.
-
2-3 mins for them to announce each tie the twats
It's painful to follow. Are you following it from the Telegraph news site?
-
Nearly 20 mins in and we still haven't been drawn ffs
-
Boro at home
-
(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DH90tkSXkAAioWj.png)
-
Settle for that
-
Good draw.
-
Decent enough draw, but what a bollocks up this lot are making of the actual draws.

I was watching it on the Carabao twitter page, bloody awful.
-
Nice.
-
That'll do.
-
Good draw. Not easy by any means but should be winnable.
-
That draw will give us Middlesbrough at home twice in a week
-
Decent draw, home tie against a similar standard side. A good chance to progress in the cup.
-
Full Draw
West Bromwich Albion v Manchester City
Everton v Sunderland
Leicester City v Liverpool
Manchester United v Burton Albion
Brentford v Norwich City
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Bristol Rovers
Burnley v Leeds
Arsenal v Doncaster Rovers
Bristol City v Stoke City
Reading v Swansea City
Aston Villa v Middlesbrough
Chelsea v Nottingham Forest
West Ham United v Bolton Wanderers
Crystal Palace v Huddersfield Town
Tottenham Hotspur v Barnsley/Derby County
Bournemouth v Brighton and Hove Albion
-
Not too bad a draw, gives us a decent chance to go through.
Big disappointing that Manure, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham have basically been byed through. Slightly harder for Man City and Liverpool.
-
A good draw in terms of making progression.
Not an inspiring prospect though. I have no plans to start a thread entitled `Villa v 'Boro classic encounters` in the memories section.

I think we bashed them on Alan Thompson's home debut as well.
-
I notice the game is scheduled for the same time that "Middlesbrough Academy" play Accrington Stanley in the Leyland Daft Cup.
Not sure if that will be rearranged.
It might force Boro into playing their first team against us, if not.
-
My first ever match - Villa v Boro - 1-0. April 1982, Alan Evans penalty.
Boro twice in a week, lucky us!
-
Not the worst draw in the world winnable game.
-
A decent test and a winnable game.
-
Another decent draw for me. Won't be easy but is a very winnable game.
-
from PRAVDA
The date has been set for our Carabao Cup game with Middlesbrough.
The tie will take place on Tuesday September 19, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
The game has not been selected for Sky Sports coverage.
The draw was made in the early hours of this morning in Beijing, China.
-
How about the classic Zenith Data Systems semi final clash vs Boro at a very wet VP.
Ah the memories.......
-
I've had a season ticket since 1992 and the only thing I remember about any Boro game at VP is their fans smashing the Witton Arms up about 15 years ago. I was playing pool in there at the time as a paving slab came through the window and landed on the table.
-
Did you make the pot?
-
No surprise ManUre drawing the smallest club in the competition at home.
-
I very much doubt it was fixed, as some have suggested. However, it is still ludicrous that it wasn't actually televised, or at least streamed, live so as to avoid any such suspicion.
This competition has been so full of fuck ups, I'm starting to think Villa might win it!
-
probably the most boring draw we could have got
but winnable and if we make it through it's starts getting serious
-

I thought that the draw was streamed on the sponsor's website or Twitter feed

I for one am shocked at this news

The ties were updated via Twitter but you couldn't actually see the live video of somebody picking balls out of a bag/hat, as far as I know.

I remember that game well. I was at the 2nd leg as well, there wasn't many of us.

No fear - our man Dr Toney was there to see over things

Two wettest games at VP I can remember and I'd imagine there has been many.
Boro Zenith Data Systems
Port Vale FA Cup

I'm crap at pool too but I don't make up excuses like yours!
-
We're going to be up against the Mighty Adama Traore, if he can get a game, not to mention Rudy.

Better deploy ball boys on the roof of The Holte and the North Stand then

Nah, he'll be in Leeds by then.

Nope, I 'watched' it on the Twitter feed. A 2-3 minute wait for each tie to be announced as someone had to knock up an image each time. Some going to do 3 draws and all of them are a mess.
-
I think all of you who stayed up to follow the draw live should be given a free ticket by the Club.

Seeing as Mr Shin is basically nocturnal, I'm sure that supports Owls over Gibbons :)

Rain!
You should have been away at Southampton in the League Cup, Nov 1986!
Lost 2-1. Kept in the dog pen at the end, whilst the heavens continued to dump, what seemed like, a years worth of rain in one night.
The only time I had to pull over when driving home, due to torrential rain and, literally, not being able to see past the windscreen!
Some days I feel like I'm still drying out.
Ah. Those heady days before responsibilities and large mortgages.

And the BBC has the fucking nerve to ask whether the cup has been devalued because clubs put out heavily changed teams.
How about asking why the football league can sell the rights of a competion to some shitty energy drinks company in China, that no one has ever heard of, and that no one is able to scrutinise the way the draw is carried out.
And, why the fuck make the draw at 4.30am ? It's not televised, it's not steamed. It's just twittered!
The football league has sold its soul for the sake of the dollar (or renminbi in this case).
-

Even by my standards it was a late one last 'night', just before 8am I decided to go to bed!
-
Did you make the pot?
In off the paving slab?
I think I went in-off
-
Isn't it strange how all the Chinese owned clubs got home draws!!!!
Well the ones i know of!!!
-
That's nonsense. I've looked at all the home teams and can't see Small Heath anywhere. Oh...

-
These are the subject of my latest "things that piss me off about football" piece for the next H+V.
-
someone wants to ask the bbc why it has devalued motd by employing the likes of jenas and murphy to give there brain numbing analysis on matches
-
Also why do the beeb help continue Man U's record of having every FA cup tie televised since the Ice age?
-
Sky not much better. I see they've picked Man U vs Burton for live TV coverage. I wonder who will win that one?
-
No surprise ManUre drawing the smallest club in the competition at home.
You're getting them confused with Man City.
-
Also why do the beeb help continue Man U's record of having every FA cup tie televised since the Ice age?
Maybe because the ground is spitting distance from the the BBC. They don't get many live matches nowadays so they want the greatest exposure.
If they don't get ManUre they show bloody Salford!
-
Any news on tickets yet?
-
Is this free for season ticket holders again? Because, if not, my seat is already sold
-

It doesn't look like the cup game is on sale yet

Nice to see a decent crowd for this- but doubt it will be >20k.

Doh!! Thank you

I've just had my picture took in Victoria station London with the Carabao Cup (League Cup for me) they going around the country letting people have there picture taken with it and you also get a free can of energy drink aswell I made sure I had my Villa top on in the picture the man from the EFL said they would be coming to the Bull Ring in September.
-
With the lack of seriousness towards the League Cup by top flight clubs, Villa actually have a half decent chance to win it. I love the League Cup, some of my best Villa times have been seeing us win it.
Promotion and League Cup double, Villa back in Europe... you have to dream.
-
Sounds like 1974/5, I'd settle for that!
-
How have we not won a cup over the last decade. We've been so, so close. Truly overdue now.

Some clubs haven't kicked a ball in the competition yet. Two of those will be in the final.

We got 18,000 for the last tie, where ST holders were free and they still charge £15 a pop for this game. Far be it from me to challenge the pricing structure as I know sweet FA about running a football business, but I always wonder why the club doesn't use these types of games to put on offers that make the game attractive to families and youngsters, to get the ground filled up. For example, £5-£10 adults and £1 kids.

Something I've never enquired too deeply about and really should, but I do wonder how much pricing is down to the away team's demands and how much it's used as a convenient get out by the home side. Would Boro really complain to the authorities if we said we wanted to charge £5 across the board and £1 for kids?

They might fancy their chances more in front of a sparse crowd.

It's never worked for Blose.

Beautifully put away.

Just gone through the trauma that is the online ticket service to get my tickets. OMG what a nightmare. Tried to login via iPhone (unable to login due to multiple clients at this email address). Tried to call....40 minutes and no joy. So dust off the laptop via chrome. Sign in, ok. Select shortcut for existing season ticket holders, OK. Select tickets, error message, grrr. Donut of doom whirling for minutes and start again. Realise I have to go into the seating plan and change the ticket types from family to adult and child individually, then add them to basket. All that left is to see £2 added as they will post tickets but not add to my season ticket.

What allocation have Boro opted for? I wonder if their fans will prioritise the league or cup game.
-
Was it the second MON season where they barely brought about 800 away fans?
-

They have been allocated a skateboard full rather than their usual go-kart full.
