3-0 Brighton. A reality check. And a team missing/fielding tired international players.

2-1 win. Baker to put us 1 up with a bullet header and after they equalise Grealish with a late screamer. Or maybe 0-0.

As much as we could do with the win to help us catch up after our poor start, I think a draw would be a decent result to keep the unbeaten momentum going.

Amen to all that. I'll be more than happy with a point - as Albion will be short-odds to gain another 3 points. So here's to football being a funny old game! UTV  :)

Arguably the best team we've played so far. As much as I'd like this run to continue I suspect we'll lose this one by a single goal. Hope I'm wrong.

I think a draw is likely 1-1 or 0-0. Could be all hands to the deck in the last fifteen mins. Be interesting to see if Jedinak appears on the bench to help out in the
latter stages of this game. Bruce must be thinking about it.

Stephens and Sidwell are their midfield two in a fairly orthodox 442 system.

They're second and a good side at this level, with those pair at centre midfield.

This league, yeesh.

They've got Murray up top as well - 9 goals this season - and Knockaert scores a few too. Need to be solid at the back for this one and I'd settle for a point right now, but fear this may be Bruce's first defeat. 2-1 to them

Really tough game - by far the best team we've played under Bruce and we'll have to play quite a bit better than we've done to date I reckon

Definitely calls for a return of the three man midfield I reckon. Westwood in for Jedinak as he's the only one who can play that middle role

For me the front three should be adomah kodjia and ayew

Certain Brighton fans I know down here are treating this like a cup final -  almost a rematch from the cup tie six years ago - so I am desperate we don't lose but its just another league game to me. I said we've been in finals, European ties and title chasing seasons so its not very easy to get excited about playing Brighton - which may have added fuel to the fire but honestly these are doing my head in. Since they've been back up to the Championship they're unbearable.

A very tough game for us, easily our toughest of the season.

A loss could well happen, at the level we're at Brighton are a very good team.

I'd take a point to keep the momentum going, a win would be brilliant and a real statement to the league.

1-1.

I don't think any of them have done anything to suggest they could sit in that central role of the three. They all want to get up and down the pitch

If Westwood's confidence is completely gone, or a bunch of morons are going to boo our own player (not the local
Lad who was too fat to play in our hour of need and has repeatedly undermined managers' desire to improve the level of professionalism, but the one who passes sideways too much). Then maybe he'd be better on the the bench

But I remember Gardner and Tshibola protecting our back four at Luton and I don't want to see that again thanks

I'd reason that your argument is flawed because in order to play defensive midfield you need to be physically robust, be able to tackle and compete in the air.

Gabby scored a hat-trick in about 8 minutes. Pretty sure Corluka got a goal for them. Was it 4-2 or 4-1? That was just before Man City became mega-rich, although they'd still spent quite a lot under Shinawatra (or whatever his name was).

This reminds me in some ways of our game up at Bradford last time we were down in this division in 1987. Ok, we're not as high in the table as we were then but we knew going there would really ruffle a few feathers, so I'm going to go for 2-4. Stuart Gray to score two on his debut.

Did anyone see Steve ' the ginger lampard' goal and celebration last match. Hit one from own half as saw keeper off his line and nestled in net. He then proceed to run touchline and get knockaert Jersey and hold aloft with his team mates as a tribute antony knockaert e father who had has passed away that week and had knockaert absence from playing duties.  Touch of class both on and off field. Sidwell decent pro and decent chap all accounts and respect that.  Abiding memory of the thumping effort in the thriller at goodison early on which was saw Ashley young hailed as world class and when moyes could manage teams competitively.
Any way 3-2 Villa tomorrow have a good feeling on thid one entertaining game.  Brighton make defensive errors this season and think villa will edge encounter

You wont be seeing Richards anytime soon, Bruce says its a niggling one that will keep him out for some time. TBF to Hutton, he hasnt let us down this season. Even when he has fkd up (I recall 2 of late) he has got back and made a last ditch block or last ditch tackle to rectify it. Like ive said before, if we are playing him on the right, our main attacking htreat should come from the left and he should be charged with keeping it a bit tighter

So everything points to Jedinak making the starting line up which in his current form is exactly what he and we need. In expected cold conditions a rock hard Aussie getting stuck in is not what you want to face in midfield. I think I will revise my draw forecast to a close away win. 1-2.

I have no opinion on these one way or the other. But they play in stripes, blue and white stripes. They're also called the Albion.

Imagine aping that shower of bitter twats from Smethwick. They must be wrong uns.

More seriously I wonder if Calderwood leaving will unsettle them. A bit like when Walter White split from Hughton and things unravelled quickly.

With the possible exception of Newcastle this will be the first game this season where we aren't necessarily expected to make the pace.  If we are reasonably solid at the back there may well be a bit more space for likes of Kodjia / Ayew and Jack to play

3-1 to Brighton.  Kodja to get another for us on the counter.  Just think this is a step too far for us right now.  After Newcastle I'd say Brighton are the best team in the Championship.  I have just about everything at this level.  They concede very few and are really well prepared and hardworking.  Their great at home too.  A draw is the most I can see us getting and would snap your hand off for it right now ;)

as I cannot make the game and will be watching it in the local village pub with all the plastics around me "supporting" Brighton, so definitely a win for me please :)

but right now I would settle for a good performance and a point

Toughest game of the season so far, I would say. I would take a draw now, and that is probably what it will be. 1-1 (natch.)

Tough test this, will serve to let us know where we are ...

Personally, I'd be happy with a draw ...

I would like to see all the Villa fans walking down the seafront singing "We are the Holte! We are the Holte! We are, we are, we are the Holte!" Then they can go and have sex in an alley before the  game.

That should be enough to get most of them bit part roles in The Bill for a good few years.

I'm surprised people are so optimistic. We still haven't played that well under Bruce and Brighton are flying. I fear a tanking and as much as I hate draws, I'd settle for our 10th(!) of the season tonight.

Love Steve Bruce's line on the injury update for tonight - "Jordan Amavi looks like he will be OK.......Leandro Bacuna is fine.......Micah Richards is unfortunately not quite right".
