With all the shit we've had to swallow from them over the past twenty-odd years, to think it will probably be them that bangs in the final nail, with the worst team that they have had in that time, will piss me off more than the relegation itself.

This has been the most predictable event in nature, more so than the annual migration of wildebeest or the winter solstice. An emphatic, yet routine humiliation. At least we won't have to suffer it again for a while.

In home end with bar afterwards - assuming I stay until the end of the game (?),  I want to get back to Piccadilly for 18.20. What's the best way - tram from Exchange Quay?

Remember the year that Ipswich got relegated - Utd beat them 9-1.

Repeat, or something similar?

I think we are capable of losing by that margin but doubt Utd's current capacity to achieve it.

The tram definitely the quickest way back - either Exchange Quay or Old Trafford station depending on which end of the ground you come out

In the second half, when the game is long won, we will show some attacking intent, and people will see it as cause for optimism next season.

6-1 to them - a hat trick from Rashford, who is so young he thinks that we have never been in the top half of the table.

A consolation goal from Traore or Grealish, as they all start to play for their next career moves.

I'm convinced we are going to get done by a double figure score before the season is out. My money is on this one or Arsenal.  Them reeling from that spuds defeat, with a returning Rooney and us down before Kick Off sounds a recipe for chaos to me.

I said months ago we would go down at Old Trafford and that it would be fitting given our embarrassing record against them in the Premier League. They're actually pretty poor and even when they win it's by the odd goal and not very convincing. So in that case, 4-0 to them. We go down in style and the conga line gets longer in the away end as their goals go in.

0-0 until 40 minutes then Richardson will slice a clearance off Bacunas arse that hits Hutton on the head and Guzan punches it into his own net.  After that the flood gates will open, 4 maybe 5 by 60 minutes and God knows how many by 90.

The only thing I will miss about this fixture is that I can be home inside 20 minutes. At least I wont suffer the same level of increasing rage walking to the ground at anywhere next season.

I think some of the hilarity may have been driven by the tide of hyperbole and bullshit from the media regarding Newcastle, particularly in the early days of the PL.

All that "everyones favourite second team", Tony Blair, Toon this, toon that and toon the fuckin' other, passionate loyal supporters, Mary Poppin's up front etc etc

It certainly seemed to be the inspiration for the Ant and Dec banner and the famous cynical nature of us Brummies does not react well to being told how big and how wonderful a club is when we already support one.

Of course, this is not the fans fault, but with the prospect of another shot of yet another crying Geordie in a replica shirt who can blame Villa fans for laughing like drains?

For the record I don't bear any ill to Newcastle, have always had a great time visiting and found the people to be friendly but their demise will raise a smile when I think of those angry "toon" fans who act so precious.

Those cheeky bastards won't get an ounce of sympathy if they're down when they come here.  They've been by far the most provocative bunch we've come across in recent years - and the fact that they allow their fans to congregate outside the away exits at the end says a lot about the club's attitude too.

There are plenty of their match going support who still harbour hatred towards us for laughing when the overhyped wankers went last time.

They were wanking themselves silly on the message boards over Christmas about how they will party like it is 1999 when they relegate us at Villa Park.

Lets lighten the mood,
On Saturday I am 60,an unbelievable event for someone who has always considered himself as akin to Peter Pan.
Although this event has been coming for 60 years, I started considering it about a year ago.
Some people have big parties, travel to Katmandu or contemplate what could have been.
When the fixture list was issued, I knew what I would do. I am going to travel 9300KM To see my beloved Villa relegated, although seeing us relegated did not feature in the initial plan.
It then got me thinking, I could be a fucking jinx.
The first season I clearly remember was 66/67 last home game of the season lost 4- to Everton. Relegated !
By the time we were scraping the barrel of the 2nd division, I was a regular. last game at home to S.utd we won 1.0 but went down. I was there, at least I was not alone 3rd biggest crowd of the season 32,000 I thing we gave the lads a great send off, and the Phoenix rose from Div 3.
I was not around in 87 when we went down, but watched it from afar.
So on Saturday if you are at old trafford look for , a reasonably fit if not a bit overweight grey haired old steamer with a 70,s Villa shirt on who will be screaming his lungs out for the boys in claret and blue.
Any one who fancies popping into the Windsor later in the evening can give me a hug and I will buy them a pint.
It could get a bit noisy later on.

I'd honestly play a few of the kids on Saturday. Not all of them obviously, but maybe Green, Davies, Hale and Lyden. Give them a chance to play there and it'll maybe wet their appetite to help us get back up.

Have a good day Steamer, i'll look out for you if I remember (which I probably won't).

Unless he was injured, I can only think Lyden got dragged for falling hook, line and sinker for that Bournemouth corner.  Can't see him starting again tbh.

We go with a whimper, not a shout. Whatever disgust is levelled at the team is deserved. We vent our spleens and get over it and have something to look forward to. I know from my business it's almost impossible the change the culture of an organisation without determination from the top and I've seen so many gone by staff having too much influence because they were badly managed - sad as it really isn't difficult to reach out and have a go. Most high managers would like to make a stamp but also keep what's good - it's not hard - I believe you have to buy people who know better than running around a lot -  and organise a team, where a manager is boss. How hard can it be?

Man Utd - 0
Villa - 0

May be his CV highpoint  :D

There's about as much chance of this being 0-0 as there is of you writing your next post properly.

Yep, can't even do getting relegated properly.  And it would be just typical.

0-3. One each for Agbonlahor, Richards and Ayew.  All assists from Bacuna.

I would play:

Bunn
Richards (groan. Reluctantly)
Okore
Lescott
Cissokho (the whole back 5 reluctantly to be honest).

Lyden
Gana

Grealish
Ayew
Traore

Gestede

4-2-3-1
Ayew playing second striker, switching with Grealish on the left occasionally. Bang crosses in to Gestede from both sides.

Considering how the inaugural Premier League season played out it would perhaps be fitting if the final nail was banged home with us one up on 90 minutes and then losing two goals in "Fergie Time".  However, as it so happens I reckon we'll be down before kick off and be trounced 4-0.

The irony I will cling on to when the Mancs around where I will be sitting are taking the piss, is that they'll be waving goodbye to an all but guaranteed six points a season.

I'd honestly just rather not turn up and take the automatic 3-0 and fine than play the 90 minutes which are going to be very painful.

IMO Norwich won't lose so at least United won't have the "honour" of relegating us during the game.

Can't think of a much more appropriate place to get relegated than Old Trafford though. This is one fixture I will not miss from the list next season.

Anybody who has been at St James' Park the past two season we've played up there and seen how they greet us when we come out the away end will be laughing their bollocks off when they come down with us.

I was up there last season. How it didn't kick off downstairs after the game is anyone's guess.

This thread is on one of their more prominent forums....

http://www.nufc-forum.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=57912.0

Hate us more than Sunderland really, plenty of other clubs fans would've celebrated like us that day. I'm sure Old Trafford have plenty of piss take chants at the ready, it's what football is about really.

It would be brilliant if they went down at Villa Park AGAIN although would probably get quite lively after the game with all the emotion of our last top flight home game for probably a few years. Only thing I'm looking forward to for rest of the season.

How Bacuna gets a game in front of him is madness. I would like to see him played in a deeper role alongside Gana, with Grealish in front of them, with Green and Traore out wide and Gestede up front. Just have a fucking go.

Hated heading the ball.. I used to hide in plain sight. Make it look like I was going for the ball but always be out-jumped by my opponent. The only times it didn't work out was when my opponent had the same notion. So we'd both suffer the humiliation of being barked at by everyone for letting the ball bounce as we pathetically pretended to be fighting to get there first. I'd just shrug. No intention of heading that thing. My general attitude of can't be arsed, "how long left Ref?" would fit right in this season. Role model.

When our keeper had it I would make sure I was out wide and in the unlikely event of it heading my way would only get it on the first bounce at least. I was once told to guard the near post at a corner and ducked when it came like a rocket, thought I heard a shout of leave it!

I don't miss many games in a season, just for weddings, funerals or working abroad, but I can't raise the interest or the energy to go to this one and have sold my ticket. It isn't that we'll lose - I've seen plenty of defeats over the past 60 years - it's that we'll lose without a fight and without pride. No other relegated Villa team has surrendered so abjectly as this one.

5-0 to them, Rashford 2,Rooney 2 and a De Gea total fluke of a goal kicked from his own box into ours, ball bounces over Guzans head and goes in, just to sum our season up.

Is Black on something or having a laugh when he talks about post relegation anarchy and de-motivation from the players? What would he call the actions of a player who has seen off 2 managers and now a caretaker on £65k a week for doing nothing? What is fatgate, chewing gumgate, swearing at//laughing at/offering out Villa fans/reminding Villa fans of the money they earn by rubbing their fingers together or tweeting photos of expensive cars  if it's not anarchy/demotivation? Not to mention sulking on the pitch (richards),  delusions of CL grandeur (bacuna), 3 wins in 33/34 games etc.etc. When we are relegated today (not if) a contributory factor will be that the players have been in a state of anarchy and de-motivation ALL season! Post relegation will be an opportunity for them to party in manchester, now their end of season awards has been cancelled (Dubai will be too far away). They already know where to party there, after heavy defeats! Those fans going today, sing about our club (not the current team) with pride and humour and f-ck the f-ckers!

I can't be violent towards someone over the fate of a football club but just let get me in the players car-park with a tube of super glue and there would be an awful lot of overpaid useless tossers wondering why their Porsche locks were sticking today - if they're capable of wondering anything. Thanks for wrecking a perfectly serviceable football club you irresponsible bunch of lazy cnuts.

Not sure if I'm meant to be on the bench
but I can't make it anyway. I have got a virus.  I might be in Dubai to help me get better as the shisha there is much betterer.
Yours faithfully
Gabby,
Club captain and shining example to our youth academy.

Norwich's result wont relegate us, its all the other games that have done that.

Anyway, 5-1 to manure

Here's to a better season in the Champ.

I'm just hoping it won't be a drubbing, but suspect that it will just be that.

I was planning on totally ignoring this game and going to Warwick to watch Bromsgrove and actually enjoy a game again. Of course it's called off. Arse biscuits.

Just got £20 @ 2/1 on utd win with a -2 goal handicap...

You know the thing is I have never in my life, before this season, even contemplated backing against villa. I can't believe I'm doing it and what makes it worse is I don't feel bad about it

Thanks for that Villa it's a long hard road to forgiveness for the complete shite I've had to endure this year.

This is my 2nd time beting v Villa, last time against Chelsea was 5/1with -2 handicap

I do it all the time. Emotional hedging. How much the Villa win is worth to me determines what I put on the opposition.

This season, betting against Villa has basically provided the best interest rates in the country. I wouldn't even call it gambling.

It feels like everything I turn on the TV to watch football I either see Robbie bloody Savage or hear his whining voice talking shite.

Fuck Eric Black. I hate the fucker, and each and every player he picks-clearly they don't deserve a place on the team, yet he keeps picking them. Cant we have him put down? c***s.
