We've shipped him out to our dear departed former "local rivals" on an emergency loan, apparently. What a great signing he was!
-
Blimey, what's he done to deserve that?
-
Thanks for the goal at Burnley. Other than that what a bizarre signing . File alongside Jenas , Pires and Senderos
-
Cole’s wages, which are likely to be around the £20,000 a week mark, would have been a stumbling block but it seems where there’s a will there’s a way, the likelihood being that the player has agreed to forego some of his pay packet.

Pires was one of the few players we could sign at the time as we could only sign out of contract players. We needed a player so signed what was probably the best available. Ultimately he wasn't good enough but it was hardly a bizarre signing.

Where's the quote about him being on £20k a week from? Surely it's not that low. And I can't imagine Cov being able to afford to pay for his eels and mash to be taxi'd-up from Canning Town never mind anything else.
-
Coventry?
Do they play Rugby?

Cov local paper. It was said at the time we signed him he was taking a big drop in wages.

Still £20K pet week isn't bad for a pension.
-
Huge success wasn't he? How long is left on his Villa contract?.
-
his a cant
-
2 year deal if I remember rightly, so until the end of this season.

He'd been training with a non-league side hadn't he, and to be honest, didn't even look fit enough for that.

How can you forget Grant Timber Holt?
-
A Cov fan at work told me about Cole. I asked him to provide a chair for him in the centre circle. He said Cov can't afford that!
-
As a cost cutting measure he's going to get the bus there every day.
He'll jump on what I like to call the no.10.
-
Think he was on a pay as you play.
-
After this he must be close to calling it a day & opting for the jungle or CBB instead.
-
He is better off calling it a day. Playing there will sap every last drop of spirit he has left.
-
I've seen that this has been in the Coventry local paper but haven't seen anything on the OS about it.

From Wiki (yes I know)
Pirès returned to England and trained at London Colney – Arsenal's training ground, in order to keep his fitness levels up.[15] In October 2010, it was reported that Conference National club Crawley Town intended to talk to Pirès about joining them for some part of the season, but the player's spokesman said they were "not aware of any interest" from that club.[16]
On 16 November 2010, Aston Villa boss Gérard Houllier had been in talks with representatives of Pirès.[17] On 18 November, the 37-year-old midfielder completed his move to Aston Villa on a six-month contract

Truly horrible thing to do to a man. It might give him some playing time, probably about 20 mins

I doubt he could last 20 minutes.
-
Should boost the crowd having a Villa player on the pitch. Don't think they've got a full house since last time we played there.
-
More like a circus act now. Come and see joe Cole the man who can blow through his arse inside 5 mins.
-
Mowbray says he was supprised and he may not even play during the 35 days, I wonder if some of our lot bundled him into a boot and dumped him on their training ground with a note saying Play me.

Fixed

They are pant-wettingly excited about this, sums up what an insignificant little club they are.
-
Maybe we could give them Guzan too. That would be really fucking nasty.

Lescott too.

Pity about Lescott. He looked like a good signing for the small fee we paid.In reality he has been dreadful in every game he has played.Truly dreadful.

I think it is fair to say that the one problem he won't have at Coventry is not being able to find a seat.
He'll be back. A lot quicker than they will.

Rod Stewart.
-
I think we have never played at the Ricoh.
By the way did he play on Tuesday night?

Yes. 57 minutes.

Thanks. Wish him luck.
-
Looking at that pic it appears Ray Wilkins was his dietician at Villa. At least we know Ray's bringing something to the party after all.
-
Good luck with trying to buy a cheese cob over there, Joe. They won't understand a fcuking word you're on about.

Christ they should never have played him for that long. Its inhumane!

A beer on sale at Warwick Arts Centre last night was called Coventry Bitter to which I immediately thought "They certainly are" accompanied by an internal derisory snort.
