Well, I might as well start this thread as it's only four days away. Anyway who has ever started a match thread at home to these bastards is clearly unlucky so I decided to have a go.
I fucking hate this game and everything that goes with it. The referee. Wayne Rooney hurling abuse at said referee for the entire game without so much as a ticking off. Most of their players, come to think of it. The fans in the away end with their repertoire of anti-Scouse songs even though most of them don't live within a hundred miles of the North-West. The glory-hunting bellends in the home end who have to shout their mouths off, the patronising "it's our favourite ground" comments in the build up. Most of all though, I hate the way that we never ever fucking beat the bastards.
We will on Friday though.
Us 3 (Richards, Gestede, Ayew) Them 1 (Young).
Oh and "why is it being played on a Friday?" to rival "can they bid more than the release clause?" and "why didn't Barry take the penalty?" for the most asked question in H&V history.
-
Is it that time again already? Even just by the law of averages we should beat these eventually. 96 minute winner with Sherwood dancing around and Parks sliding on the pitch on his knees will do for me.
-
Parks?
-
Parks?
Keeper coach, seems to be very animated on the touchline.
-
Can see a draw, and would take it all day long.
2-2 with Gestede and Gabby scoring.
-
Up the pub in Chichester to watch this for me. I shall no doubt bump into copious numbers of their gobby gloryhunting fans who all have relatives living in Manchester, no honestly guv. I always like to respond by saying I know Manchester really well as I used to live there (which is utter bollocks) and then I press them on exactly which area of the city. If they can name one, I then press them for the exact road and house number by saying I know the area really well as I used to live just round the corner. It's fun to watch them squirm and realise they have been found out...
Oh, and if anyone wants to do the same to me regarding Birmingham and now living down here, it's 21 Selly Wick Road! :-)
-
Parks?

Cheers. This must have passed me by!
-
can not see a Villa win :-( but hope i am wrong.
-
0-3 defeat.
-
I can see Gestede having a field day in the air against their central defence.
If we get ten corners we'll score at least 8 so my guess is 8-8, or 8-9 with them scoring in the 112th minute and their annual pitch invasion being hailed as wonderful exhuberance. We get a £250,000 fine and have to play two games behind closed doors and our allocation reduced for the return fixture at Old Trafford. Oh and Ashley Young will do that ear thing when he shins one in at the Holte End.
-
Should this thread not be retitled "Washington Generals vs Harlem Globetrotters"? Although, Globetrotters vs Generals matches are maybe a little more unpredictable than this fixture. Still, at least it's out of the way early this year.
-
0-3 defeat.
Unlike you Pete, I tend to be quite pessimistic when we play them...
-
I can remember this being our first fixture at home at least twice - once in BFRs first season and the immortal Never win anything with kids game. I honestly can't believe it's twenty years since we beat them at home, its got to happen sooner or later but I can see us losing in the last minute despite playing really well.
1-2 them
-
Hate this game. Hate them. Hate their wanky glory hunting fans. Hate their wanky Manc fans. Hate them far more than I do small heath.
I rarely go to this game, this season will be no exception.
Please Villa, twat the living fuck out of this lot.
-
Good to get this out the way nice and early. 2-1 home win.

Agree with you on all of the things to hate, but I'm going to add one more.
The fucking tourists. I bloody well hate them as much as all of the above.
Anyway, let's be positive.
2-1 Villa.
-
I see playing them so early as just a positive .
-
Sod it...I think we'll win! Fuck the fuckers. Hideous bloody club. It's about time we beat them.
2-1. Rudy and Agbonlahor. Shrek for them.
-
Also hate this game. I live away from Birmingham now (I'm an 8 game a season man these days) and our non-manc Manure-supporting neighbours have offered to come round and 'watch the footie' with us. Maybe pessimistic but I can just imagine their smug fucking faces coming out with shit like 'well, you should support a proper team' so curtains closed, door locked, and neighbours most definitely not fucking invited.
Would love it, just love it if we beat them.
1-3.
-
20 years and counting now isn't it? We're due some luck against this lot surely.
-
We've a good record against them at B6 in August
-
20 years and counting now isn't it? We're due some luck against this lot surely.
We beat them in 1998 and 2009.
-
Watch this and tell me we're not going to beat them.
We will catch that chicken.
-
2-0 Villa, Amavi and Gestede.
-
Mike Dean is the ref. Top of my useless ref list.
-
We never beat these plastic tossers so I can't see Friday being any different.
0-0.
-
1-1, same as last year.
-
I think it will be a real eye opener for the new guys. After 12000 at Bournemouth , Just seeing VP rocking, to find out what we're all about
-
Oh and "why is it being played on a Friday?" to rival "can they bid more than the release clause?" and "why didn't Barry take the penalty?" for the most asked question in H&V history.
Why is it on a Friday? Is Benteke off the pitch getting treatment?
-
We will win.
And agree with the above, I fucking hate their gimp fans.
-
Usual script. They'll beat us.
We go again.

Mike Dean is the ref. Top of my useless ref list.

Je me sens une victoire...1-0 (Gestede)
-
A hard earned 1-1 draw, Gabby to score for us with them equalizing quite late. It's the first time I won't be going to this fixture for a good 5 years or so, maybe it will finally bring you all some fortune.
-
We'll lose.We always lose.
-
We didn't last time.
-
I stand corrected. We'll lose we nearly always lose and once in a blue moon we draw.
-
That's more like it!

Totally agree. I hate every single element and aspect of this fixture. I'm not going this season, though, so here's to a 2-0 home win.

Agbonlahor
-
Let me know when its over.
-
I hope Gestede is match fit to start, not sure he will be. I relish the thought of him and gabby up against blind.
Carragher was picking apart their lack of cover in central midfield against Spurs - they all press onto the ball / go man for man. I think we can hit them with pace quite directly.
-
Early in the season, optimism not beaten out of me yet.
Fuck it, we've got to beat them some time.
2-1 Villa.
-
It's almost too obvious that Gestede should have a go at Blind - we've talked about it here and having had a quick look at RedCafe, they're also quite concerned about that prospect. For that reason, I suspect we will not try it a single time, just like how we didn't try to isolate Benteke on Bellerin during the cup final.
I'm never ever going to expect a win against this lot at VP until it actually happens, so I predict a 3-1 victory for them, with their newcomers inevitably being the goalscorers.
-
So predictable. The usual (mostly) routine win for them. Biased refereeing decisions. Rooney whinging at the ref all night. Young falling over a blade of grass then rubbing his knees. Pitch invasions which of course go unpunished (why don't we just reduce their allocation and put nets over the first 10 rows?). Plastic Brummie reds in the Holte, at least one of which gets a smack in the mouth (highlight of the night!). Get it out the way early in the season then move on (we go again?) to more enjoyable days. 1-3
-
Lovely club.
If we don't end this game with some feeling of disappointment, I won't believe anything is certain anymore.
Aston Villa 0-2 Manchester United (Walking in Memphis, Young)
-
It's being played at daft o'clock so here in Singapore it's the middle of the night - I will therefore be tucked up in bed and hoping to wake up to a stunning victory. As usual though for night matches I expect to wake up at about 3.30am with us 1.0 up and then spend the rest of the game nervously refreshing Twitter until 2 late goals ruin my weekend...
United ain't all that though - so I think we'll finally do them. Rudy to send a message to you Louis....
-
The thing that gets me is that all the Man U fans I know genuinely don't seem to realise why everyone else hates them with such blood curdling vehemence.
-
That's because they are bigger wankers than we give them credit for Phantom.
Hate them, Hate them, Hate them, but this crap has to end some day so why not Friday. Villa 2-1 with a 97th minute winner from a Granny shaggers own goal
-
I can see Hutton being recalled to do a job on Young
-
Us 3 (Richards, Gestede, Ayew) Them 1 (Young).
No don't see that happening. How is Young going to score after he is sent off in the 5th minute for his second yellow for diving?
-
Like a lot of others on here, it's one of my least favourite games as well. It is about we beat them again though and playing them early on might help.
-
I am at the Great British Beer Festival in that London so won't be there sadly :( I bet after years of me not seeing us win at home against this despicable lot....we will :)
2-0 to the Villa and the Timbo revolution continues !!

Why is it on a Friday? Is Benteke off the pitch getting treatment?
Something to do with there being an EDL rally on the Saturday in Walsall and West Midland's police's resources would have been stretched.
I think they should have moved the rally personally. Also, its gives Manure an extra day of rest before they play Club Bruges in the Champion's League (on Tuesday).
-
They should have the EDL rally on Friday. It's not as though they have to go to work anyway, due to all the immigrants stealing their jobs.
-
August 19th 1995 Villa 3 (Taylor, Draper, Yorke) United 1 (Beckham). I still remember it as if it was yesterday. Also old enough to remember the 66-67 season, when we got relegated, seeing us beat them 2 -1. In the United side were Best. Law, Charlton, Stiles and Crerand and they went on to win the title.
Anyway to get back to Friday's game, was not at all impressed with United against Spurs, they looked slow, disjointed and had no cutting edge. If he starts Rudy could be a major headache for their defence. So maybe the 20 year wait will be finally over. Having said all that I sadly think United will still end up winners.
-
I see us losing but not a normal capitulation.
1-2 giving it a real go. Think Rooney will make the difference. He normally does.
-
0-2 Rooney and Blind - Sorry but just sometimes the baddies have to win, even if in this case they are the most hateful of baddies ;)
-
Hope they're are a lot of anti edl songs ringing from the Holte on friday night.
-
I'm in the north stand for this one, and have never left the north stand having seen us lose. So....
Us 27 them 0.
-
The club synonymous with all I detest about modern football. The demonic figurehead of the crap side of football. They probably will win, but sod it, it's about time things fell in our favour. 3-1 to the glorious Aston Villa!
-
Sod it, 2-1 Villa. Ayew and Gestede
-
1-1
They forgot to turn up for the game, thinking they are already in the Chumps League. Still the bloody FA only award us a draw.
-
For the second match in a row, I think we'll upset the predetermined narrative and beat the plucky underdog.
-
Gestede hat trick 3-1
Then that muppet lookalike Dutch prat saying I need to strengthen
"Come on villa "
-
Getting worried about this one. I think it's a bit early in the season with all our new players to be up and ready to know what is about to hit them. ManUre could steam roll us and knock a lot of the wind out of our sails which would be a real shame. This is either going to be a good stepping stone for us or kick in the pants. Just don't have a good feeling as our team still don't know how to play together and are so young and inexperienced.
-
I'm not optimistic in the slightest, purely because its them, but it's early in the season and we have a pretty much new squad trying too impress so 2-1 (Ayew x2)
-
1-2 to them with a late late goal.
-
Might be worth bringing Hutton and Sanchez back in for this one. Gestede has to start too with their makeshift centre back partnership. Try Gabby pushed on up on Shaw to see how he gets on. Likely that they will start with two holding midfielders so I dont see the point in Veretout in starting this one. Best off to target the flanks instead.
Cant see us keeping a clean sheet but hope we are positive from the start, they will take time to get all their new players settled in. Would be disappointed if we dont score. 2-2
---------------Guzan
Hutton, Richards, Clark, Amavi
----Westwood, Sanchez, Gueye
Gabby, Gestede, Sinclair
-
We win and the LVG questions begin.
-
Gestade in for Gabby and maybe Hutton for Bacuna. Apart from that i hope it's as we were.
-
Leave Bacuna in. We need to attack the bastards not pick a formation that shows we're scared. Plus, if we're going to pick Gestede we need as many players as possible to cross the ball for him.
They won't be looking forward to facing him at all.
-
Wonder if they will play that big Belgian twat just to man mark Rudy
-

I'm not sure gestede will be fully fit yet? Sherwood said 30 mins was more than he should have played on Saturday.

If they do they'll be in big trouble. He's suspended.
-
Hate this game. Hate them. Hate their wanky glory hunting fans. Hate their wanky Manc fans. Hate them far more than I do small heath.
I rarely go to this game, this season will be no exception.
Please Villa, twat the living fuck out of this lot.
This, I hate the bastards with a passion, I'm sick of losing to them, it's like we panic when we play them and let them walk all over us.
I'm hoping for more this time
-
I'm not sure gestede will be fully fit yet? Sherwood said 30 mins was more than he should have played on Saturday.
Why isn't he fit? was he on strike at Blackburn?
-
Finally watched all the highlights and extended highlights from the Bournemouth game last night...I'm not sure if I was watching he same game as a few on here. Obviously its early days and this team needs time to gel, but there really needs to be big improvements in training all over the pitch this week and Man Utd to have a bad day for us to get any kind of result. I don't expect a win against this lot so I'm just hoping any kind of defeat is by a narrow margin and the we see improved performance levels...a confidence sapping heavy defeat wouldn't do this new group of players any good.
edit: also Veretout and Ayew seemed practically invisible on the Bournemouth footage so hope start to adjust and settle more in the next few weeks.
-
We'll lose, as usual. Dodgy free kick/ penalty/ corner/ soft injury-time winner. Take your pick. But we will lose and it will make me hate them more next season, as it does every season. One thing I hope if they go on the pitch, they get a proper good slapping. Not much you can add to that really- though feel free.
-
This is the new Villa. We're at home and we'll attack them from the off. I'll go 2-1, Veretout and Sinclair.
-

No you don't hope they get a "proper good slapping" as that is condoning violence.
-
What if it's a playful slapping?
-
What about a snapping?
Why not dig a ditch in front of the away end, get Randy and Tom Fox up onto the Daintree with a big net, catch us a couple of Salties and pop them in the moat.
That would keep the Cockneys off the pitch.
-
Or self defence slapping buy the wonderful WMP in an aid to stop them getting on the pitch and whilst making many arrests
-
So it wont be our ex big Belgium wanker and Chris they will probably play him them, remember this is the Man Wank Sky Fest United, so the same rules do not apply. They would more than likely deduct us points for bringing it to the Prems attention.
-
We have the win behind us, this is a free hit, TS to go for it & Gestede to rip Blind a new one, 2-1 Villa !
-
1-1
They forgot to turn up for the game, thinking they are already in the Chumps League. Still the bloody FA only award us a draw.
Well I think the positives for us is that it is our first home game of the season and still and only their second game. And lets face it if a Paul Lambert Aston Villa can get a result against them then Sherwood's Villa should be able to do the same, right?...
-

ok I dont (but I do really) scumbags. If they go on the pitch, as I said at the start.

I'm with you Robbo, it should be a nice way for WMP to get warmed up for the wankers invading Walsall on Sat afternoon.

West Midlands Finest, to repulse the invaders with, batons, tear gas, stun guns, horses and anything else that comes to hand.
-
It 'd be nice to do them at home after after 20 long years but I'd take a point given we're still bedding in our new players.
Gestede didn't play much pre-season for Blackburn so probably can't play 90 mins. I'd be inclined to do the same as at Bournemouth i.e. leave him on the bench then bring him on when their defence starts to tire.
-
I'd agree that Gestede is probably best used as an impact sub whilst he's not fully fit/carrying a knock, but the problem with not playing him from the start is our other options...Gabby is shite through the middle and Ayew doesn't look confident or settled yet.
-
I think we may have the element of surprise on our side, there are that many new faces we don't even know how they all play together never mind the Dutch version of Beaker.
I think pace, passing and on the ground to run them ragged first 60 mins - Gabby , Ayew, Sinclair
Then bring on the heavyweight to batter them
Although my heart fears the inevitable loss - really cannot wait to see a packed VP again lifting the rafters off
WE need to show the new boys exactly what they have joined
-

You could say the same about Man Utd. They seem to have replaced about half their team and it showed against Spurs. They were crap but still managed to win as usual.
I read De Gea will be left out again. I suppose that's one thing in our favour.
-
2 0 villa

Passing on the ground and Gabby in the same sentence! I like your optimism. Surely we are going to beat them eventually at Villa Park? I'm hoping that our new players will lift us as they haven't been scarred by the usual defeats against that lot.
-
Us 1 Them 2
I would love us to beat this shower of shit again but think they'll have too much for us and sneak the win
-
I think I'd put Gestede in to start and try and make a fast start, rather than the other way around
-
Best way to do these is keep it tight and then do them last minute . Scoring early against them never seems to work
-
Who every needs agoal for them to get the winner.Memphis will get 2 and get 2 more during the rest of the season.
-
2-1 villa is 20/1
Tempting
-
I'm more confident than against Bournemouth. The new boys will be more up to speed and with a little added confidence of the opening win. Noisy, full Villa Park. I can see an upset.
-
Whilst playing the game on a Friday isn't particularly popular, a packed Villa Park full of atmosphere at night...you really can't get a bigger more awe inspiring reception for our new players if we tried. They will either rise to the occasion or shit themselves.
-
Game sold out as per PRAVDA
Our home Barclays Premier League opener against Man Utd is now SOLD OUT.
Tim Sherwood's side will be backed by a bumper crowd, with the stadium packed to the rafters for the clash with Louis van Gaal's Red Devils.
Fans are now advised not to travel without a ticket for this Friday Night Football encounter, which has a 7.45pm kick-off.
Both sides are unbeaten so far this term.
Villa beat Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on the opening day while Utd beat Tottenham at Old Trafford.
Sherwood is certainly relishing this encounter.
He told us: "Our fan support has been magnificent.
"I think we're going to see that in all its glory on Friday night in a packed to the rafters ground, Friday night football - a wonderful occasion for this football club and a new era.
"We fancy ourselves against Man Utd. We fancy ourselves against any team.
"That's the way you have to be. You have to have that mentality to think that you can impose yourself on the opposition and that's what we intend to do."
If you haven't been able to secure seats for this Red Devils encounter, tickets for our next home match - against Sunderland - are currently on sale.
The match takes place on Saturday August 29 with a 3pm kick-off.
Prices are £27 to £42 [adult and concessions], £17 to £35 [U18s], £12 to £35 [U8s] and £37 to £42 [adult/junior combo ticket].
They are on general sale.
To buy tickets, contact 0800 612 0970, visit the Ticket Offices at Villa Park and New Street or BUY ONLINE.

48,000 people minus the glory hunters in the corner face yet another frustrating match against the unbeatables. I'll be shielding usual pain by watching in a pub with fish n chips in Cornwall.
-
I love night games. The atmosphere should be great, which will help the player. I say this every year before we play them, but I fancy us to win this. Surely Gestede will start?
-
Our new players have played in big games and the VP crowd and noise will give them a massive adrenaline rush. Think this might be a game for Ayewe to shine in. 1-0 with Young getting a double yellow !!
-
very excited. new seats in the holte, last few evening games I can recall have been fab, Tesco bags..sunderland. Guy at work says Gestede never lasted a full game at Rovers, so I suspect Tim may prefer him coming on against a tiring defence. Feel's vibrant again, hope our flames aren't put out ala Wembley!
Would love a result, my lads got a game in Bolton Saturday morning and half his team support utd, so it would give him a great boost!

I secretly think we might do them by the odd goal.
Optimism has been very much a stranger in recent years, welcome back old friend.
On the plus side aswell, the omens are extraordinarily good. See below. Have faith.
14 Aug 2010 h West Ham United W 3-0 Prem
14 Aug 2008 a FH Hafnarfjardar W 4-1 UEFA Cup
14 Aug 2004 h Southampton W 2-0 Prem
14 Aug 1993 h Queen's Park Rangers W 4-1 Prem
14 Aug 1989 a Watford W 6-1 Friendly
14 Aug 1971 h Plymouth Argyle W 3-1 D3
Only Bache (5), Johnny Dixon (7), Withe(7), Waring (9), Clem Stephenson (10), Hampton (13) have scored more league goals than Gabby (4) against Man Utd. The last time he scored against them in the league we won.

Maybe in the 1980s.
I applaud your avoidance plan, though.

Dalian Atkinson had a decent record against them as well, I remember he scored in three successive home games vs them plus the Wembley winner.
-
Predicting a late kick off.
I'd be late even if I lived in the city.
-
I'd make 3 changes in total. I'd bring Hutton in for Bacuna, Sanchez in for Veretout and Gestede in for Sincalir or Ayew, with Gabby moving to one of the wider attacking positions.
-
Thing is we have to beat them at some point, maybe the shift to a Friday night will break the curse.

Where in Cornwall are you?

Today is the day!! There I've said it (Must have had a good sleep or something coz up to last night I was sure of the same old same old).

You'll be surrounded by Man Yoo supporters then.

I know we lost this game, but the link below is to villa v man united in September 93. The last truly top class villa side. Some of our attacking play was fantastic that night, especially Dalian. Bloody awful defending though, including from McGrath.

Gave up my season ticket when my lad started working Saturdays but my "mate" is on holiday so I have his - front row, right of the dugout :-).
I've seen them win, not beat us, too many times - I even bust a telly when they won at theirs with that stupid twat scoring a lucky hit in the last few minutes.
But as the earlier poster said - this is a freebie, no-one expects us to win so fuck it, lets put the new boys in and have a go at them - they wont have any "history" of playing these wankers so why not.
2-1 at 20/1 - I'll have some of that!

Me too. I'm in the North stand.

No idea how this one will go. We have a lot of new players settling in and TS has to find his best team. Our season is about improving on the last, going upwards so not to fussed if we lose this one.....but love to beat these c*ck-rots.
-
Hopefully the journo's will be dusting off the old cliché about sleeping giants waking up after tonight's game.
-
For the first time in years I am genuinely excited to see what our team can achieve.
-
I came to accept a long time ago that I will never see another win against them in my lifetime
-
what an atmosphere it will be tonight. On the back of a win, first home game, versus that lot, full house, at night under the lights and to round things off Adama being introduced to the fans. Fantastic!

Is it on TV for you TV ?
I'll leave you to start the Match Thread unless someone else jumps in

3-2 Villa, a host of half and half scarves, United fans on the pitch at some point and at least one plastic manc being chucked out the Holte after a heated exchange that has everyone on their seats and ignoring the game for a good 2 and a half minutes. Can't wait.

Yes, live on TV Mr Sox. We get all the games here between two channels; Sportsnet and TSN (part of ESPN) which take feeds from the UK. I think one of the stations shares the feed with NBC. I'll kick it off though you hold the win streak, so feel free to get in there if something stops me.
-
Before any of the away support think about singing "You've only come to see Yoonited" in recent years we haven't filled the ground for their visit.
The place will be full tonight because we want to see our new players - the opposition does not matter.

I suspect we may have what the financial markets call a 'correction' this evening. Though I hope not.
-
I'd just like villa to get some goals and have a goal. I expect to concede a penalty or sending off due to exuberance and that could mean only win 2-1.
-
With today's 'goings on'the fact that we are playing Man Utd tonight seems to have been forgotten a bit. I hope we win or draw against an understrength Utd but if we don't as long as Amavi,Gueye,Veretout, and in particularly Ayew show encouraging form then I dont really care.

Most likely, but hopefully we'll break our 20 year hoodoo.

Now that we have a new lingua franca at Villa Park, here are a selection of phrases that may be screamed in unison at the appropriate moment:
"Ça vient !" /sa vjɛ̃/= "MAN ON!"
"Seul !" /sœl/ = "TIME!"
"Lâche ton ballon [bordel] !" /lɑʃ tɔ̃ ba.lɔ̃ [bɔʁ.dɛl]/ = "USE IT [FFS]!"
"Dégage [bordel] !" /deɡaʒe [bɔʁ.dɛl]/ = "GET/BOOT/HOOF IT UP THE PITCH [FFS]!"
"Arbitre enculé !" /aʁ.bitʁ ɑ̃.ky.le/ = "THE REFEREE'S A WANKER!*" (*although "enculé" is closer to "c***")
"Change tout [bordel] !" /ʃɑ̃ʒ tu[bɔʁ.dɛl]/ = "SWITCH IT [FFS]!"
"Hors-jeu !" /ɔʁ.ʒø/ = "OFFSIDE!"
-
"Arbitre enculé !" /aʁ.bitʁ ɑ̃.ky.le/ = "THE REFEREE'S A WANKER!*" (*although "enculé" is closer to "c***")
This doesn't have enough syllables to fit the chant, would it work with a 'le' on the beginning?
-
What's French for:
"Just keep the fu**ing ball (ffs)"
which is what I tend to spend most games "advising"...eg: for the last 20 minutes last week at Bournemouth.

OK, let's do "L'arbitre est un branleur" (which has the required number of syllables, fits our chant, and is the literal translation of "The referee is a wanker")

Interested to see the line-up. Gestede I don't think will start, Tim has already said he needs to work on his fitness. Confused not to see Kozak at least on the bench after scoring in pre season, is he injured again?
When all our players are fit we will certainly have some great attacking options, but I'm still not happy with our defence, I think we need some strengthening there and i hope Okore can recover from this bad injury.
Traore looks exciting once he adapts, Ayew needs to show something to us tonight, he also needs the fitness.
Let's hope we can turn over the Red Scum, I'm feeling positive for at least a draw.

Is Okore's a bad injury? I thought it was a fairly minor thing that needed surgery and he's just recovering from that, he played with the injury for the last month so it can't have been all that serious.
-
It's a minor thing. He's been in some training pics.

A Canadian Villa enthusiast is making his first ever Villa Park visit - before giving away four season tickets this evening.
Mike Cappuccitti, known on Twitter as @ChosenVillan13, has travelled from Toronto for the Barclays Premier League match against Man Utd.
Before kick-off, he will then donate the four season tickets he has purchased to deserving recipients who might not otherwise be able to come to games - as well as rewarding young people succeeding on our community programmes and making a positive contribution to society.
The 42-year-old began following the club two years ago when he reached out as a "free agent fan" for a Premier League club via Twitter.
Michael contacted Villa and their division rivals offering them his support.
Fans and staff including club liaison officer, Alan Perrins, wrote to him encouraging him to choose Villa - and passionate Perrins letter, in particular, struck a chord with Mike.
Having donated two season tickets for the 2013/14 campaign, he's back this season with an even more generous offer.
He is more excited than ever to run the donation scheme again after meeting head of Villa in the Community, Ravi Masih, in Canada this summer.
Michael and his son Marc arrived in the UK yesterday and enjoyed a stadium tour where they were presented with the season tickets by chief executive Tom Fox [pictured above].
They will now get set to watch the game against Louis van Gaal's men.
Enjoy the game, Mike and UTV!

Just a quick rant sitting on the train from university station which comes up from Cardiff via Cheltenham and Gloucester and have had to put my earphones in and turn Eric Clapton up to full volume, the train is full of these disgraceful human being they do make my flesh crawl loud mouthed glory hunting scum. Thesee parasites sum up everything that is wrong with the best league in the world. Crawl back under the stones you lived under before football was invented by the way I hate Alex Ferguson and potato headed Steve Bruce and Sheffield Wednesday oh and Brian fucking Kidd jumping around on the pitch oh and that toss pot of a referee and his added 9 minutes cnut.
That feels better it appears that the vermin exterminator has dealt with the rodent problem on my train and they have all exited the train at New Street singing about the onion eating garlic smelling seagull chasing a french bloke.
-
Feeling confident about this one. We are surely due a win, no? Anyway, I have put my money where my mouth is and stuck a score on Villa to win at 16/1 with BoyleSports. Money back on losing bets if Villa lead at any time.
Come on Villa!
-
Eric Clapton?
When ze seagulls follow the trawler...
Oh, hang on a minute
-
16/1 just for the win?!
-

Sounds like it must be a sign up offer for new customers. Gestede 2-1 is a very tempting 95/1 though, if he starts.
-
Same team as last Saturday by the looks of it. Probably sensible.
