Title: Questions From Newcastle Fans
Post by: YCCMY on February 24, 2015, 04:02:07 PM
Hi lads, i'm from toonforum.co.uk and we like to ask opposition fans a set of questions to use in our pre match build up. I've been on here before and got a good response. Here are the questions:

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?
2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood?
3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal?
4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent?
5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why?
6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four?
7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit?
8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances?
9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager?
10 – Scoreline prediction?

Thanks in advance

1 - I fear this could be our year for the drop. Feel free to laugh at us if so, as we did at you lot (some of your fans do hold a grudge for a joke, don't they? Oh well, idiots everywhere). As for your team, non-descript mid-table for you this season, which looks pretty great from where we're sat.

2 - Underwhelmed by Sherwood. He might keep us up, but I have very very grave doubts long-term, and I also think there's a good chance he will take us down, but that's hardly all his fault. Overall, seems like just another English coach who thinks tactics are mints, but let's see.

3 - Not creating chances. We're unbelievably jittery in the final third, as well as clueless, static, devoid of confidence and unimaginative. Woohoo!

4 - No. Done at the top level. Might get a few tap-ins in the Championship, but you can't afford to have a player in the top flight who just hangs around near the goal, not contributing, then touches the ball in from a yard and wheels away with his shirt over his head.

5 - Juan Pablo Angel. I bet he'd look after the place neatly.

6 - Leicester, QPR and, I hate to say it, Villa to go down. Top four? Chelsea, City, Arsenal aaaand...someone.

7 - A rich tea that's been left in the cuppa for too long. Eventually the heat tells on us, and we fall apart into nondescript, undigestible mush.

8 - It is gloomy, and I imagine that it must have had an impact on attendances. Last season really did it, I think, almost more than this.

9 - I don't think so. You're not really in any danger, so you can afford the luxury of waiting until you have a chance of getting someone really good. The pickings are slim mid-season - look who we got!

10 - Ach, I dunno. 2-1 Newcastle? We might score, but that might be it.

1- I think we'll finish 16th-17th this season. That's my most optimistic. But honestly if we go down it won't be unexpected by any stretch. We're awful at the moment. Newcastle have hit the skids since Pardew left. It's a bit of a soap opera up there and it's a hell of an ask for Carver to work under those conditions but I think you'll survive comfortably. 32 points might already be enough. The bottom 4-5 are wretched and will all struggle to pass 30 points.
2- I like his honesty. There wasn't really anyone else, and short term fixes aren't brilliant. Players are less likely to get motivated for a new manager if they know he's only overseeing until May. So a longer term appointment was right. I'd have preferred turfing Lambert out long ago and getting Pulis. I do think Sherwood will have enough to just about see us through.
3-Both. Lambert was clueless and as such the players now have to re-adapt to new ideas and pretty quickly will have to shake off old habits. Likewise certain players aren't pulling their weight. Benteke needs to work harder and Gabby has been a disgrace. He's supposed to bleed claret and blue. A one club man. He plays for us like he's on orders from Birmingham City. It's almost contemptuous.
4- Would he be a better option than Gabby and Weimann? Yes. Would he make much difference? No. It's a shame we missed out on Rickie Lambert. He'd have made a significant difference I feel.
5- Gabby Agbonlahor. That way I could lock him in the room and he won't tarnish the Villa Park turf.
6-Burnley, Leicester and one of QPR, Sunderland or us. Top four will be Chelsea, City, Utd and probably Arsenal.
7-We'd be plane old bland smart price cracker. Because we're so predictably dull at the moment with little chance of any exciting flourishes.
8- Ground down disappointed. We're a collective sigh of resignation.
9- Probably not. Short of waving a lot of money in front of a top manager there aren't many viable options out there, as we've seen. Sherwood didn't fancy the job, probably due to Mike Ashley.
10- This is a game we need to get something from. You're in decline at the moment. If we can't pick up points from games against out of sorts sides and those around us, we're doomed. 1-1.

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle? us just outside bottom 3 , you guys mid table

2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood? too early to say , could be a legend , more likely a numpty whose head we will all be calling for in 12 months time
3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal? Both
4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent? No , tap ins for Derby do not cover the cracks of him being a lazy twat
5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why? Stephanie Roche - do I need to explain?
6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four? Leicester,Burnley,Sunderland, top four Chelski,Man City, Arsenal,Man Utd
7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit?Rich Tea - Looks good but 1 fucking dunk and its game over
8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances? no jam in our doughnuts however this could be resolved with 2 good wins against the Albion
9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager? No , Nothing to play for really so can afford to wait for the right man
10 – Scoreline prediction? 2-1

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? 18th. What about Newcastle? 12th.
2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood? Probably couldn't have got anyone better at this stage, Lambert should have gone last summer.
3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal? Not creating anywhere near enough chances, or having enough shots either in or out of the box.
4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent? Not really, rather see Benteke or Kozak (if fit) ahead of an overweight Bent.
5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why? John Carew, guys got a great personality and seemed to love his time at AVFC.
6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four? Villa (18th), Burnley (19th), Leicester (20th).
7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit? Something bittersweet.
8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances? Depressed state. Club kept with a manager in the summer that most fans had lost faith in, and our marquee summer signings were Richardson and Joe Cole, hence a big drop in ST sales.
9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager? Difficult to say, it means their season will fizzle out, but it could mean they have a better season next year if they get the right man.
10 – Scoreline prediction? Newcastle 1-2 Villa - not convinced about John Carver as head coach.

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?   Villa 19th. Newcastle 12th
2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood?  Mouth  on a stick.
3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal? Lack of chances mainly. Midfield devoid of creativity.
4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent? No. He is finished at top level.
5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why? Pass
6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four? Leicester us and QPR/Burnley. Top 2 + Arsenal and Spuds.
7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit? Digestive. Big and tasty back in the day. Bit dull and naff nowadays
8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances? Mood reflects 5 years of mismanagement.  A leason in how to ru  down an engine.
9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager? No. It was a good idea.
10 – Scoreline prediction? Toon 3 Villa 1

Thanks in advance

1. It pains me to say it but I think we're going down. I think we'll finish 18th. Newcastle will finish 11th.

2. His appointment rejuvenated the place but that lasted until about 4.50pm last Saturday. His appointment was disappointing but in true Villa fashion we will get behind him.

3. Both

4. No, he's finished as a PL striker.

5. Paul McGrath - so I can say I've found God (in my spare room).

6. Leicester, Burnley & Villa. We're too far away from the top four to care about it.

7. A 9 year old Oreo that has got very stale. The club as a whole is stale.

8. Clinging desperately to the hope that Sherwood is a magician. Yes.

9. Yes

10. 2-1 to you

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season?
17th.
What about Newcastle?
13th. You've a tough few games to finish the season.

2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood?
Lambert should have gone last summer, Sherwood is what you end up with when you dither. I'm hoping he can bring some confidence to the players and leave the coaching to those better qualified. Glad he's no longer orange.

3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances?
Chances - wasn't that a David Bowie song?

4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent? No, not even a fit, goalscoring Darren Bent as you require a manager that knows how to play to his strengths and we haven't had one of those since Houllier.

5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why?
Alex Morgan. Take a look.

6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four?
Sunderland (18th), Burnley (19th), Leicester (20th).
Top 4? Who really gives a shit providing Man Utd aren't in it.

7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit?
Right now, a stale dog biscuit nobody except the insane would eat.

8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances?
Exhausted watching dire football but still with enough faith/hope we can survive the season. If your lot had to watch what we've had to over the last 15 years at Villa Park you'd probably be back to 18k attendances. For some ungodly reason, the fans have haven't given up, maybe the younger ones think this is the norm.

9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager?
No. They'll manage to choose from a larger pool come the summer though I still wouldn't trust Ashley to make the right choice.

10 – Scoreline prediction?
Newcastle 0-2 Villa - We're not half as bad as we pretend to be.

1: 16th / 12th
2: Far from my first choice but he's here now and will hopefully give us the kick up the arse that we need.
3: Not creating chances.
4: No. As we aren't creating chances he'd be even less use than Gabby.
5: Laisa Andrioli
6: Leicester, QPR, Burnley. Who cares.
7: Rocky. Just when you think we're down and out we'll fight back.
8: Too much apathy and negativity.
9: Time will tell. If you get someone good who wasn't available now, then yes.
10: 1-1

5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why? Lionel Messi
6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four? 3 of the current bottom 4 and the usual suspects elsewhere
7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit? Nice
8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances? Given up

1 - I think we will stay up. Just. 16th or 17th. Looking at the table I think you will finish where you are now, 11th.

2 - A gamble.

3 - Both.

4 - No. Wasn't worth a start and isn't effective as a sub.

5 - Andy Goram. He could do twice the housework.

6 - Leicester, Burnley, QPR
Chelsea, Man C, Arsenal, Man U

7 - Nice - We are too nice as a team.

8 - Sick and tired of relegation battles. I think that answers your attendance question too.

9 - No. You are mid table so may as well take your time.

10 - 2-0

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?
For us, 17th or 18th.  For you 11th or 12th

2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood?
I was pretty disappointed when he joined (if another team had given him a job 13 games from the end of the season id have probably laughed my bollocks off), but I'm not so sure now.  He's clear, outspoken, confident and actually sets out to win games (ie the Anti-Lambert), so he was a good appointment to try and bring some swagger back to the place.  That said, what I think we really need is a decent coach and tactician who'd be able to get performances out of the good players we have.  Worryingly, his coaching team are now all in jobs elsewhere, and he seems to be from the Redknapp school of tactics.  He could be great, he could be a disaster.

3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal?
The former.  We might be poor in front of goal too, but we'd have to actually get in front of goal once in a while to find that out.

4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent?
Ditching Bent was one of the few things Lambert got right.  He's scoring for Derby but if you're the best team in a poor league you can afford to carry a chubby, lazy git who'll do nothing for 89 minutes of the game.  Although, given the poor form of all our strikers, and the way that Sherwood wants the team to get the ball into the box more often, he'd probably be useful as an option off the bench at least.

5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why?
Hope Solo.

6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four?
Leicester, QPR and either us or Burnley

7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit?
A plain Digestive.  Good old fashioned, solid, British biscuit.  Been around forever, but sadly unable to keep up with all these fancy chocolate and fruity bits that the other biscuits have these days.  If it disappeared from the biscuit box all the digestive lovers would be devastated but nobody else would care that something so bland wasn't around any more.

8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances?
It was at absolute rock-bottom the day before Lambert went, there was a wave of optimism after Sherwood's half time intervention in our cup game against Leicester the other week, and now its crashed almost all the way back down again.  The poor mood has affected attendances, and given that that mood has come about as a result of a 5th successive relegation battle, an owner who wants out, a massively unpopular manager (until recently), years of crappy signings, record-breaklingly bad form, mind numbing play-for-a-0-0 football and expensive tickets, I'm surprised its taken this long for the crowds to really start dropping off.

9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager?
From an outsider perspective, not really.  Despite being owned by an absolute bell-end, Newcastle is a big enough club to attract a reasonable standard of manager, and you'll probably stand a better chance of getting one in the summer.

10 – Scoreline prediction?
1-1

1-we will hopefully stay up by the skin of our teeth- you lot will be comfortable
2-young vibrant manager who has inherited a great club but sadly whole squad needs sorting out
3-yes and yes
4-definitely yes fans say on here he was a busted flush but he was the best busted flush we had
5-Alex Cropley he was my fave villa player but I would of talked him to death about every game so he would left after one week
6-Leica Qpr burnnley / chelsea manc siteeeeeeee arse lpool
7-chocolate malted milk - love it with all my heart but breaks up so easily at times so breaks my heart
8-we seem to think we have turned that corner like lpool away arse away chelski home etc but we son come back to reality so yes attendances down but when the club needs us like it does now we will be there
9-yes and no if you can stay up which me personally think you will then you can take more time over appointment rather than a quick fix now which might backfire
10-1-2 please God I hope

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?

Bottom 3. We could even be bottom. Mid-lower table. 13th or so.

2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood?

Too early to say. i think he just needs to calm down and try and salvage the season.

3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal?

Both but largely a).

4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent?

God, no. A busted flush who is doing well in the Championship.

5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why?

Charlie Athersmith, Joe Bache, devey, Hodgetts...it's in our history

6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four?

Us, Leicester, QPR

Top 4? erm...Chelsea, man City, and whoever else is up there. i guess Arsenal must be so them and errh (circling hand) liverpool. No real idea.

7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit?

Jaffa cake. No idea what it is or is trying to be.

8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances?

Misery under Lambert. Let's wait and see under Sherwood.

9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager?

No. Sherwood is the best we could have got given the lateness in the season in which we got rid of Lambert. Not easy to get decent managers until their season is over. Wherever they are currently managing.

10 – Scoreline prediction?

We need something from this so 3-0 you.
Title: Re: Questions From Newcastle Fans

This term "busted flush" for Darren bent is quite ridiculous . We are crying out for a goal scorer , he's the clubs record signing and he's been sent to coventry following a fall out with the ex-manager and he's banging the goals in.
Ridiculous scenario.
Title: Re: Questions From Newcastle Fans
Post by: CJ on February 24, 2015, 07:24:07 PM
1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle? Us 18th - you, about 11th, where you are now 4 pts behind Stoke and 4 above Everton
2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood? Not terribly impressed. 6 months managing an expensively assembled squad is not the experience we needed to dig us out of the shit
3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal? General all round ineptitude and lack of passion
4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent? No. Deflecting them in off your arse from a yard out in the Championship doesn't equate to a top PL striker. 3 goals in 24 games for Fulham tells a more realistic story.
5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why? Steve Hodge, possibly the most despised former Villa player. Not only would he be in my spare room, he'd be chained to the radiator while I devised and then inflicted extreme forms of mental torture on him
6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four? Leicester, QPR and, sadly, us for the drop. Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, and, sadly Man U top 4
7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit? Jaffa cake. Is it a cake? Is it a biscuit? In the same way no-one's quite sure what Villa is these days but most people seem to like them regardless
8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances? Four years of dross has created a mood of general apathy. No matter how bad it gets I just don't get angry these days - just resigned to the inevitable. In many ways it's surprising attendances have held up to the level they are.
9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager? Don't think so as you're safely ensconced in mid-table so you can afford to take your time and hopefully get the right man for the long term
10 – Scoreline prediction? 3-1 to your lot

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?

Us 17th. You 13th

2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood?

Could potentially be a bit of a rent-a-gob but i won't care if he keeps us up.

3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal?

Ooo how i miss those shots on target.

4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent?

See loan at Fulham.

5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why?

One of those ones with a vagina. That seems to be the gist I'm getting.

6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four?

Leicester, QPR and Hull (ooo). Don't agree at all with most saying United will be in the top
4. They're crap even if currently 3rd. Chelsea, City, Arse, Lpool.

7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit?

Rich Tea. Good biscuit but for fucks sake don't dunk it.

8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances?

Pure apathy. Oozing apathy from every orifice. Surprisingly still more go than I would expect.

9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager?

No, sensible. Although you have the juggernaut of bellends making the decision.

10 – Scoreline prediction?

1-2. Gil, and Benteke to knob one in.

1. Still in the game! (Both clubs)

2. Hoping he's the hero of the hour.

3. Midfield need a SatNav past the halfway line.

4. Who knows? Can't get him back from the loan and Fulham are set up for him. Strange he's at Derby.

5. Emile Heskey.

6. Not us.

7. Chocolate hobnobs. Excellent taste!

8. Living more hopefully now we have Tim. Before that, well, not so much.

9. No, more choice then and you are in a better place than we are so can afford to wait.

10. 1 - 7 ( We need it more than you do, especially decreasing the goal difference!)

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle? The game against you will decide our fate, I reckon. So either 20th-18th or 17th for us. You: 12th
2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood? The best we could get, in the circumstances, but those circumstances should never have come about. Could well be too late. We should have got rid of Lambert last summer or, failing that, we could have least have got Sherwood in before the January transfer window closed but we don't seem to be doing the sensible management thing, at the moment.
3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal? Definitely the former. Probably the latter as well.
4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent? No. I'm grateful to him for keeping us up in 2010-11, but he's over the hill now.
5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why? Joey Barton. The door's very thick and I wouldn't tell him my wi-fi password.
6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four? Leicester and any two of Burnley, Sunderland, QPR or us.  :'( The top four are of no interest to me.
7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? A Jammy Dodger if we manage to avoid the drop! Boom boom!
8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Resignation and apathy with occasional residual anger. That's going mostly by this site, mind, so the sample may be skewed!
9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager? No. You won't be in trouble, so it seems to make sense to wait until Summer and then shop around.
10 – Scoreline prediction? 2-3 in a thrilling end-to-end game!

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?

We will go down. You will get off at Gateshead. 15th

2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood?

We do not need a gilet, we need a chasuble.

3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal?

I think all these players spend so much time being "on fire" in training that they have nothing left to give come Saturday (or Sunday or Monday...)

4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent?

Yes, we should have loaned out the rest of our team and borrowed Derby's to supply him with tap-ins.

5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why?

Corine Franco. Ok She's not a keeper but she likes to score when she can.

6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four?

Burnley
Aston Villa
Leicester

Top Four: the ones who should bugger off to a Euro "Super League" and leave us mortals to create a fair competition.

7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit?

We have been Jammie Dodgers in recent years so I hope that continues at least for this season.

8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances?

It ranges from dysthimia to mild resignation depending on whether it's a match day or not.

9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager?

I was going to say no because you will be able to conduct the interviews in short-sleeves but you are already in short-sleeves, aren't you?

10 – Scoreline prediction?

1-3 to Aston Villa. (Nine times out of ten I predict that scoreline. I am bound to get it right one day. Maybe).

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle? 16th/12th
2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood? Potentially a good manager, just not what we needed now. Martin Oneill got us in this mess, and the irony is we need a Martin Oneill style manager now. Funny old world ain't it?
3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal? Both, but mainly the former. Still waiting for that Paul Merson replacement all these years later. The coaching has also been crap for too long.
4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent? Yes, I think people need a reality check that top strikers most of the time don't "work hard". Do Brazil and Argentina care if their strikers close down like Heskey? Or do they care that their stiker beats 3 players and puts the ball in the net?
5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why? Normally McGrath, but we really need a creative midfielder and a leader. Barry at 27 would be for me.
6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four? Leicester, Burnley and QPR. Chelsea, City, United and Arsenal.
7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit? Any sort of crumble and far from a hobnob.
8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances? People are fast losing interest. Seeing clubs that really are championship clubs showing Villa up is just simply taking the piss.
9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager? No.
10 – Scoreline prediction? 1-2 Villa. Villa need to play a team that don't have a lot to play for, and away from home. The result of this game is crucial.

1) In the bottom 3. Newcastle - midtable mediocrity.
2) I dont think he has it in him to save us from relegation.
3) Both.
4) HELL NO. Goal hanger extraordinaire. Championship is his level.
5) Pongo Waring - 50 goals in one season - record breaker - legend.
6) US, Burnley, Leicester.
7) A crushed, stepped on N-I-C-E biscuit, too broken and dirty to digest.
8) We'll I dont share everybody's 'we-can-stay-up-despite-the-odds' attitude, frankly I am distraught after walking home after Stoke. Still am. Resigned to relegation.
9) No, you will take your pick come the summer. Whatshisname is just keeping the bench warm.
10) 3-0 without breaking sweat for newcastle. TS to say "More work needs doing".

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?  19th (Villa) 14th (Newcastle)

2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood? Said and did the right things the first week he was here but badly needed a "New manager bounce" to have a chance of keeping us up.  The defeat to Stoke could be the killing blow I think

3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal?  Not creating chances which means that the strikers feel extra pressure when they do get a chance that in turn makes them more likely to miss

4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent? No. Did great for us the first season he was here but his time with us is through

5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why? Zinedane Zidane - made football an art

6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four? - QPR, Villa, Burnley Top 4 - Chelea, Man City and then any two out of Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool, Spurs, Southampton, West ham

7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit? Out of date saturated digestive, in other words a bit shit, like what we are

8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances? Gloomy, apathetic and yes

9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager? Depends who you end up with

10 – Scoreline prediction? Shock 6-0 away win.  I can dream can't I!

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?
Sadly, I’m increasingly resigned to relegation. Having attended our awful game at Hull (believe me there’s been some bad ones over the past few years), I was convinced that we were doomed. The optimism of a new manager gives us some hope but I fear it is a case of too little, too late. I think Newcastle will finish mid-table. Beautiful, comfortable mid-table.

2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood?
Underwhelmed. I think it could all end disastrously and, even if by some miraculous circumstances we retain our Premier League status, I’m not convinced longer term he is the person to take the club forward. Although, that said, the whole hierarchy at Villa needs to be completely overhauled. I do appreciate that our current predicament is in no way his fault though and would love nothing more than my pessimism to be proven unfounded!

3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal?
Sylvia Plath once said that ‘the worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt’ which I think is depressingly apt for us.

4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent?
No, he is past it.

5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why?
Ian Taylor. Not the greatest. But he loves the Villa and so do I.

6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four?
Relegated: Leicester (20th), QPR (19th) and Villa/Burnley/Sunderland (18th).
Top Four: Couldn’t. Give. A. Monkeys.

7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit?
Rich Tea. Once titled the ‘Lord of all Biscuits’, with an enviable and glorious heritage and prestige, but sadly usurped in recent times by gaudy pretenders of little substance like Oreos/Chelsea.

8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances?
Apathy. Most definitely.

9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager?
No, quite the contrary. Whilst your season will inevitably fizzle out, a comfortable mid-table berth is guaranteed affording you ample opportunity in the summer to diligently search for a successor to Carver. Handled well, longer term this will only be beneficial to the club.

Something I wish Villa had done last summer. Alas.

10 – Scoreline prediction?
Heart: 2-1 Villa
Head: 2-0 Toon

Nothing cracks me up more than Newcastle fans talking about attendances. They conveniently forget finding 35K fans down the back of the sofa in the 90s. Average attendance of less than 17K in 1991, 51K in 2001.

No wonder they still play in black and white as that's what the TV coverage of their last trophy is.

I’ve just had a look at the toonforum site. The original poster asked for suggestions for questions to ask us - here are some of the responses:
  • What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood being a s*** manager and getting you relegated?
  • Which derby are you looking forward to most next season, Wolves or Birmingham?
  • Who's your next messiah, Stan Collymore or Richard Hammond?
  • Why is it that you are the biggest bunch of cronuts in football?
  • Why are your attendances so poor that they make Sunderland look like a well supported club?
  • Will there be many tickets left for the match on 24 May so we can come and watch you get relegated?
  • Sherwood said he would only consider a top job after leaving Spurs, what do you think made him change his mind?
  • What are your feelings towards Darren Bent after he took the step up to join Derby last month?

Another comment was "Horrific club, horrific fans. No club deserves relegation more."

Looks like they still haven't got over 2009!

Shame.

They could have asked us:-

What is it like winning the European Cup?
What does it feel like when your last trophy success was on colour rather than black and white TV?
Have you got any Police horses we can bother?

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle? Wembley. Not sure about Newcastle, but it'll be the week before we finish.
2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood? Clueless judging by last week's game. As good a manager as Alan Shearer probably
3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal? It's a protest against the introduction of goal-line technology
4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent? We kept him longer than he deserved
5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why? Damien Duff. Imagine the fun we could all have laughing about that own goal.
6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four?A Midlands club, Burnley & QPR. Usual names at the top.
7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit? Cadbury Dairy Milk Golden Crunch. Because Cadburys chocolate is mined locally.
8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances? Content. Life doesn't get better than winning the European Cup, everything after that is just passing time really.
9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager? Your mistake was not appointing Ant or Dec when we told you to.
10 – Scoreline prediction? Deluded barcode wearers 0 The Villa 2.

All of my life, I have cursed the amount of space taken up on the box by football. "Why", I wailed, "is anyone interested in these nancy boys kicking an inflated sheep's pancreas round a field? It is not interesting."

But then, one day, my wife gave birth to a boy who, for no genetic reason that anyone can fully understand, has grown to be fanatically interested in the fortunes of Chelsea. And, of course, that sort of means I've had to get fanatically interested as well.

Hi lads, i'm from toonforum.co.uk and we like to ask opposition fans a set of questions to use in our pre match build up. I've been on here before and got a good response. Here are the questions:

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? 17th What about Newcastle? 15th
2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood? Absolute clown of a man, very much a temporary appointment I suspect
3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal? Both, midfielders not creating chances and forwards not good enough to create for themselves. No threat from out wide and assist/goal stats from midfielders are abysmal
4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent? No, has been awful since Lambert came in and was right decision to get rid. Hasnt been the same player since ankle injury in 2012. Stunned with his impact at Derby but they play a positive brand of football where forwards will get chances.
5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why?
6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four? Leicester, QPR, Burnley. Chelsea, City, Arsenal, Liverpool
7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit? A biscuit type that you might find at your grandparents. Ones you used to like, especially when younger. You still eat them for some reason out of habit more than anything else. But at this stage they do you more harm than good.
8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances? Its got to the stage where relegation doesnt have the same fear it used to. Five consecutive relegation battles will do that, getting progressively worse each season. Crap football has been awful to watch for years now and general apathy abounds.
9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager? No, you got have got stuck with a Tim Sherwood type. Far better candidates available in the summer. Not sure if they will in interested in working for Mike Ashley though where EPL survival like at Villa seems the primary aim.
10 – Scoreline prediction? 1-1

Thanks in advance

This term "busted flush" for Darren bent is quite ridiculous . We are crying out for a goal scorer , he's the clubs record signing and he's been sent to coventry following a fall out with the ex-manager and he's banging the goals in.
Ridiculous scenario.
Agree entirely, Bent should have been re-called immediately, not only to put pressure on a mis-firing forward line, but because he is A PROVEN GOALSCORER who was trated badly by PL, he is a player who needs regular football to retain his sharpness, a game here-and-there doesnt work for him. we`ve missed him, no doubt about it.

The main issue is of course the lack of supply to the forwards. We rarely cross from midfield and our fullbacks, particularly Cissokho, cannot cross accurately or with purpose. If those issues were addressed then Bent could be useful. Not more so than Benteke, though and probably no more useful than Weimann. I have never seen a team so anaemic in terms producing attacking threats through crosses and meaningful passes and until that is addressed, all talk of Bent, Benteke's form and Weimann and Gabbys' (lack of) ability is probably pointless.

Superb !!!!

1 – Where do you think you’ll finish this season? What about Newcastle?

17th-14th for us. I am not too sure with you. It can be a funny thing not having anything really to play for, which coupled with a manager you know wont be around in the summer, is hardly motivational for the players. Somewhere between 13th and 10th.

2 – What are your thoughts on Tim Sherwood?

He reminds me of John Gregory a great deal.

3 – Is your lack of goals due to not creating chances? Or just from being poor in front of goal?

We have played very negatively for some time, often isolating Betneke, whose confidence has ebbed away as a result.

4 – Do you think the club should have kept Darren Bent?

Bent has been finished as Premier League player for some time. Scoring goals against 2nd Division sides will do nothing to change my opinion.

5 – If you could have one football player, past or present, live in your spare room who would it be and why?

Its a toss up between Steve Hodge and Stuart Downing. My spare room would involve a watering can and a hessian bag.

6 – Who do you think will be the three clubs to get relegated? And who will make up the top four?

Leicester, QPR and Burnley to go. Man United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City to make the top four.

7 – If your club was a biscuit, what biscuit would it be? And why would it be that biscuit?

We’d be a rich tea at the moment, but with the potential to hit the Hob-Nob stakes if we have finally found a competent manager, after the past four disasters.

8 – What is the general mood among Villa fans? Has it contributed to falling home attendances?

With the club up for sale and the owner disinterested, Lambert being given a four year deal helped create a sense of hopelessness, that there would be nothing to alter the status quo.

We have great home crowds when you look at how awful we have been at Villa Park. We’ve won a pathetic 13 in three seasons. Not too many clubs would be getting 30,000 to watch that garbage.

9 – Have Newcastle made a mistake by waiting until the summer to appoint a permanent manager?

It depends on what the general expectations of Newcastle fans are. From Ashley’s point of view, no, as you’re not going to get any higher than 10th and you’re not going to get relegated, so why spend the money now?

If you’re a fan however and being asked to still purchase tickets to follow your side play some pretty craven football, then you’re less likely to agree that writing off half a season is acceptable.

10 – Scoreline prediction?

1-3 Villa. You’ll boo them off at half time and full time. Carver flapping his gums isn’t too smart.

We’ll be singing what the fuck is going on, as we struggle to comprehend our side actually scoring.

Thanks in advance

No worries.

I remember feeling quite amused that a draw would have kept them up on goal difference. Other than that, a couple of pissed up twats aside, they mainly streamed out of Villa Park with shrugged shoulders and resigned to the drop. The banners and stick from the Villa fans has been totally overplayed over the years. That Newcastle coach is a knob, whatever his name is.

I got the train back up north with a load of them and they were all fine apart from one little arsehole who was walking up and down the train looking for Villa fans. He started on a couple of young lads not realising a bloke sat across from them was also a Villa fan, he almost shat himself when confronted. To be fair to the other Newcastle fans they were all for battering him too.

As I say i've got loads of mates who are Newcastle supporters and are as embarrassed as you'd expect by the gormless twats who are always ready for the TV cameras.

How many times does it have to be said that he can't be recalled?
We know that, but the whole infuriating point is that a club with diminishing resources coupled with the cows arse/banjo syndrome afflicting the entire forward line should NEVER have allowed that to happen in the first place.

That's the thing with bantz. If opposing supporters are all victims of a cruel genetic experiment then it is a short step from extra fingers and toes, eyes too close together, brothers marrying their sisters, knuckles dragging on the ground etc to positing that their womenfolk or downright fugly.

Of course, those of us that have partied in that neck of the woods know that nothing could be further from the truth and they have a surfeit of superfit lasses.

See. I'm at it now. It's the bantz.

Surely that's agreeing to sell him?

If from that choice he says "I want first team football", then how else are they going to support him in achieving that, other than saying that they'll start playing him for the first time since they signed him.

How motivated they are has nothing to do with it.

They're either agreeing to let him leave or they aren't. And in this situation, saying that they will go along with what he wants to is agreeing to sell him.

I still disagree. There are two parties who have a decision on whether Rickie Lambert leaves Liverpool.

If Liverpool say "if you want to leave then we will let you leave" then he is unequivocally for sale. The player turning round and saying "I don't want to leave" doesn't stop him being available for sale as far as Liverpool are concerned.

Shambolic really.
The season highlight could well be the fact we Didn't sign Ricky Lambert.

Might well have kept us up if we got him in. Lambert is a clever player best suited to dropping off the front man like Robbie Keane. His legs look shot at Liverpool but like Keane he is completely unsuited to their style of play. Would have done a good job for us for 12-18 months.

He should have been the type of player we went for a couple of summers back when we instead got in the likes of Kozak and Helenius.

In the short term he'd have been a god send I reckon. That said he's 33 and we'd offered him a 2.5 year deal. It would have been very much an MON-esque signing.

Bit unfair on Kozak, he was doing OK until the injury - hardly his fault.

Helenius - a (cheap) gamble.  Again who knows what might have been if not for illness followed by depression.

Dave is a little out on that. Lambert P. Fancied him as a player to help us and we had spoken earlier in the month. They said no. Then called us to resurrect it at lunchtime on deadline day, obviously without consultation with the player.

The impression I got was that we didn't think "we needed" a striker, just that TOSM thought he might be useful.

Interesting. It's a bit odd though that they would call us to try and get the deal to happen, when according to both them and the player they didn't mind whether he stayed or left.

Why would they bother spending time trying to resurrect it, if they weren't fussed if it happened or not?
