Villa win. Lambert gets a result when he needs it and Liverpool are pretty unimpressive this season.

Also a Villa win. 2-1. If Gil, the man with skill, plays from kick off I for one will be amazed.

Is it too early in the day to consume magic mushrooms?

0-2 (Heighway, Neal pen)

We were excellent. Just excellent. We had the same amount of possession, 45% each, and we only had 2 fewer shots. They had 1 and a penalty. The lads were great - the passing and the passion.

We can't compete with the likes of Liverpool. It's only 10 years since they won their last Champions League.

The fans need to realise that we are aiming to score a few more goals this season and be realistic that we may lose next week by a similar score to Bournemouth. They need to manage their own expectations.

Have you noticed Lambert hasn't used the word 'excellent' in his last couple of interviews with the gutter press. He either reads the forums or the PR people at VP have had a quiet word in his shell like!

Which is...er.. excellent!

We've done the double over them once in my lifetime and can't see that changing. They've turned into another Arsenal/Middlesbrough/Wigan team in that we tend to well away but invariably lose to them at Villa Park.

I can see Gerrard getting one last dubious decision at Villa Park, for old time's sake, and us never threatening to equalise.

92/93? Deano double at VP and Ronnie Rozenthal hitting the cross bar with the goal gaping? 2-1 at thier place, think Deano scored again.

Even though Deano won't be there Liverpool's defence does look about as steady as a ceasfire in Ukraine so i think we'll score. 1-1.

There is more chance of us scoring against a team which is under pressure to take all 3 points and put on a show in the process than a side which is happy to sit back.  Liverpool still fit that bill despite their form this season and their defence is suspect. I reckon both teams will score and although I expect we will lose, at least we won't be bored stupid again.

Clattenburg is the ref.

Really looking forward to this - only my third game of the season and I've been banking loads of baby care duties so Mrs MDC is letting me go at 12 and I can come back "whenever I feel like it"

With all the meeja attention it feels like this could be a significant game so I'm going for an anti climatic 0-0. I'm really interested to see how the team reacts.

Really?

Richardson is crap. Surely playing Delph makes sense. He's our most dynamic midfielder, can beat players, tackles, has energy. Him over Westwood and Cleverley any day of the week.

I'd play a three man midfield of Sanchez, Delph and Gil-similar to the days of Taylor, Boateng and Merson. We just need a modern day Carbone to play up front with our modern day Dion Dublin!

1-2 defeat. 1-1 at half time with Delph and Balotelli scoring. Delph for his brace on 82 mins after signing for Liverpool at half time, kisses new badge in front of the holte, nobody notices due to anti Lerner demonstrations, Lambert's says we were excellent. All so predictable...

I watched the first half of Sunderland-Liverpool last Saturday, and had to prise my eyes open to stay awake.
Sunderland are probably the only team worse than us and Liverpool made a right meal of it.
Infact, they were absolutely fuck boring.
They pass the ball side to side and backwards as much as us.

This could easily be 0-0 with neither side actually crossing the half way line in 90 mins.

But I reckon it'll be 0-1.

Nathan Baker has declared himself "ready for action" ahead of tomorrow's match against Liverpool.

The centre-back has faced a frustrating nine-week spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury in the goalless draw at West Ham in early November.

Villa are down to the bare bones on the central defender front with Ron Vlaar and Philippe Senderos injured and Ciaran Clark suspended.

So Baker looks set to partner Jores Okore in the heart of the claret and blues' backline.

He is looking forward to linking up with the Danish defender and eager to grace the Villa Park turf once more.

He said: "I'm feeling good. I've just come back from injury and it's been good to be back training.

"It's been frustrating. I've been out for nine weeks now.

"I came back at the start of last week and have trained since.

"I got on the bench against Leicester and it was good to be back involved.

"My return has come right on time. They said nine weeks exactly.

"I feel ready to play. There are only two available centre-backs so hopefully I'll be involved.

"Jores and I have played together in pre-season and we see each other and work together every day in training.

"In training he's just like what you see in the games really.

"He's strong, a good tackler and quality on the ball."

Baker received the man of the match award in Villa's single-goal victory at Anfield in September.

And the 23-year-old sees no reason why his side cannot take maximum points against the Reds.

He added: "It was a good game for me up there but I was just doing my job, defending and keeping the ball out of the net.

"I think everyone looks at the previous game where we've played each other.

"Hopefully that's in the back of their minds as well.

"I think whatever team Liverpool put out, it will always be strong.

"But we're confident going into it."

Without 5 centre backs this season we'd have been fucked

I'd go sanchez and westy holding with Delph furthest fwd and then I think you may as well give Gil a go with gabby and benteke
Wouldn't play Gabby at home, he can't seem to find space, he is very static and his touch is awful. We need to do more business because Weimann is no threat either. Suppose it will have to be at least one of them as we have no alternatives I guess.
I hope Delph is told to not be over concerned about defending and to try and play close to the front men. When are we going to see a goal from a midfielder, don't think we've had one so far?

Apart from a win, I hope the Villa fans give Stevie Me a good old fashioned send off. The twat.

What's George Boateng up to these days?  Couldn't we sign him on a one match deal specifically to come and break Gerrard's legs?

Scored more goals against us than any other team, apparently.  Twelvety. Most of them by falling over to get a free kick. The shifty-eyed inbred wassock.

Highly unlikely that Grealish will even be on the bench tomorrow.

It will warm 4 deg at K before dropping.
From BBC. With VP at only 347 feet we should be safe:
A band of rain, sleet and snow will spread east across the area on Saturday morning. 2-4 cm of snow are likely in places above 200 m,

Can see this being a v uncomfortable day indeed. Between lamberts ineptitude on the pitch and the off the pitch stuff I think liverpool will enjoy today. No pressure on them.

I do hope they don't risk Gerrard's hamstring. His goal scoring record against us is very good.

Doubt we will but I would like to see us go with a starting line up of:

                       Guzan

Hutton    Okore   Clark   Cissokho

          Sanchez      Delph

Bacuna             Gil            Grealish

                      Benteke

Subs:  Given, Lowton, Baker, Westwood, Cole, Weimann, Agbonlahor

Edit- is Clark suspended?

Was going to say 92_93 but the arsenal game was a Monday night at christmas if I recall correctly. And we won all three. Sigh.
