Sunday 4pm, Villa Park.
1-1.
Benteke and Nugent.
-
4-1
Benteke x 2
Gabby
Cleverly
-
3-1 Villa. We're poor, but Leicester are shit. We're due a home win and we'll do it convincingly. And then back it up with two defeats. That's how we roll.
-
2-0 Villa.
-
Please villa win this.
Will go 1-0 ugly home win.
-
Genuinely think we'll win this 1-0. Another game where take an early 1-0 lead, but with Benteke back in the team to aid ball retention we'll stand firm and hold out for the victory.
I got Crystal Palace right so I'm going for a second. 2-1 Villa, An early 2 goal lead from Benteke and Sanchez, which we hold until the last 5 where Leicester nick one and make us sweat.
-
I've got a good feeling about this one, I'll go for a 3-0 home win.
Benteke (2), Agbonlahor
-
1-1
-
Is Weimann suspended for this one? Also, Cleverley went off, but I didn't see him pick up a knock?
If those two ar eout, then I would bring in Charlie and Grealish.
-
3-0 Villa.
Benteke hat-trick.
-
We're poor but they are Championship bound and blooody awful. A scrappy and boring 2-0 home win. Which I would be pretty happy with, if we play even half an hour of good football I'll leave VP very pleased.
-
We're shit but I still can't see past a comfortable win. 2-0. Benteke double. I think he'll score a goal (probably of his own making) early in the second half to settle us. We'll then sit back a bit and try and break at them, as per the normal routine. We'll score a second and then twiddle our thumbs while they huff and puff.
-
Score 5 goals in 18 mins and a leicester fan runs on to the pitch to tell Ian Walker he isnt fit to be a Premier league player
-
Once again it the performance that I will be looking at - any excitement or skill?
1-0
-
1-0 win
-
Can we have a poll?
-
1-1
-
2-0 - one of them in front of the Holte - please.
-
Can we have a poll?
Seeing as you asked so nicely.
-
If we draw or lose we're officially the most boring and frustrating team alive, so please just win.
-
2-0 - one of them in front of the Holte - please.
Ahh yes, I remember those.
-
I think the tide has turned - think this will surprise a few. 3-0 and start of a decent Dec run of results that will see us going into FAC week comfortably mid table.
-
0-0 for me. although im hoping for a 4-1 home win...The arguments between Westley and the rest of the site will be epic
-
2-2. Nicholl (4)
-
Can we have a poll?
We should have had a poll to decide whether to have a poll rather than a Mod imposing one on us.
-
Can we have a poll?
We should have had a poll to decide whether to have a poll rather than a Mod imposing one on us.
Not sure I agree with that, can we have a poll to see?
-
If we win the next two games cane we have a pole...to dance around?
Forgot...we've got a lamp-post now ain't we?
-
2-1.
-
I'm with you PWS - 2-1.
-
It would be lovely to score more than one goal in a game.
-
Think Benteke will get at least two against these. 2-1.
-
Don't we normally draw at home to Leicester, even when we're 4-1 up!
-
Last time we played them at home it was a 3-1 win.
-
And the last time we played them away was the 5-0 when that fat fella ran on the pitch and made a twat of himself.
I should add mine and Ads posts are about league games.
-
As above. We'll be 4 - 1 up with 10 minutes to play. Lambert will tell the lads to park the bus. He'll sub Benteke to a standing ovation from the 23,000 freezing Villa fans in the stadium, and we'll concede 3 in the next 9 minutes before missing an open goal to win it in front of the Holte End in the 90th. 4 - 4
-
The last time I went to Villa v Leicester at home since a 1-3 reverse some time in the 90's when there was a nasty fight in the park amongst the flower beds. Halcyon days indeed. Since 2000 our record against them at home has been good hasn't it?
-
Is Weimann suspended for this one? Also, Cleverley went off, but I didn't see him pick up a knock?

Instead of bringing "Charlie" in is there nothing to be said for giving a hatstand a try? It is less likely to relinquish possession as often and almost certainly has more vision. Maybe Hercules can take a break from his primary matchday role. Basically anyone else rather than a charlatan footballer.

00/01 L 1-2 FAC, W 2-1 PL
01/02 L 0-2 PL
03/04 W 3-1 PL W 1-0 LC
07/08 L 0-1 LC
-
Ha! Not that good then. Oh well I'll stick with my false memories as it makes life easier.
-
One of the most i've been annoyed after a Leicester game was the 2000 LC semi at home. Negative wankers, and at the end celebrating a 0-0 as though they'd already won the cup, never mind still having a second leg to go in the semis. I wonder who was manager of such an exciting side?
-
They beat us 1-0 at their place didn't they in the return leg?
They didn't like us much and it could get a bit tasty in and around Filbert Street.
-

Yep, we lost the second leg 1-0. IIRC we had virtually no strikers fit, I think it may have been that big lump Matt Elliot who scored.
-
1-1 draw.
-
With Benteke back and their defence looking a bit iffy I really fancy us to win, 3-1. And PLEASE can we have a goal at the Holte End.
-
Does Albrighton still exist for them?
-
2-2 Chris Nicholl with all four
-
I agree that Benteke might be the difference. I don't think this is likely to be an overly aesthetic match, but he's the one player on either side who could just suddenly win it on his own.
-
Does Albrighton still exist for them?
You just know he will be nailed on for a hat-trick on Sunday!
-
We'll win 2-0.
-
2-2 Chris Nicholl with all four
Yep, like I said 2 pages ago
2-2. Nicholl (4)
-
As most of you think Benteke will score it won't happen. But we should be capable of scoring one or perhaps in our wildest dreams two!
So its 2-0 or 2-1 if Marc gets a rare run out for them. Westwood and Cissoko.
-
2-2 Chris Nicholl with all four
Yep, like I said 2 pages ago

Don't we normally draw at home to Leicester, even when we're 4-1 up!
I was there.
-
Pat McMahon will hit a screamer that flies past Shilton into the net, hits the inside of the back stanchion, bounces straight out again and the ref won't give it.
-
A repeat of the Sunderland game from a couple of seasons ago would be a lovely early xmas prezzie to us suffering fans.

I'll delete that from my recorded programmes, then...!
3-1 Villa on Sunday. Benteke hat-trick, Vardy for them.
-
Pat McMahon will hit a screamer that flies past Shilton into the net, hits the inside of the back stanchion, bounces straight out again and the ref won't give it.
the reff might give it this time oh memories
-
Win. We should come out of the blocks firing, put them on the back foots and when we go 1-0 don't hold back, keep them under the cosh.
Would love to see a real confidence boosting 2/3-0. Benteke double and someone other than a forward to contribute.
-
Oh and with Wes Morgan out I fully expect the beast to abuse the replacement centre back. Give him the ball and get some support up to him, he'll destroy them.
-
Feeling strangely optimistic. Three one win with a goal in the second half for good measure.
-
Just imagine if we scored a second half goal in front of The Holte!
-
Owls mate: "Reckon you'll win 3-1."
Me: "Three? THREE? "
-
Don't we normally draw at home to Leicester, even when we're 4-1 up!
I was there.
Me too. Garry Parker had joined them - from us - about 3 weeks earlier and along with Draper ran the show once they were 4-1 down. Was this not the famous night where Tommy Johnson puked up pitchside before kick off?
-
Just imagine if we scored a second half goal in front of The Holte!
Imagine being the key word here.
-
3-1 win, the Benteke goal will do him a world of good and I expect him to score at least another on Sunday and an all round enjoyable performance for once. I hope.
I'm surprised how much Leicester have nosedived as they looked decent earlier this season, against some good teams aswell. Seems the Man. United win went to their heads.
We really should be creating a few chances against their defence.
-
4-0 win. Agbonlahor hat-trick and an own goal by De Laet.
-
Pat McMahon will hit a screamer that flies past Shilton into the net, hits the inside of the back stanchion, bounces straight out again and the ref won't give it.
and Shilton denied it went in! Lying bustard!
-
Shilton had form for denying things went in. Tina! Tina!
-
3-1 home win.
-
Shilton had form for denying things went in. Tina! Tina!
Haha , I was in the Holte behind the goal the "Tina" game.
Was bloody hilarious.
-
I remember giving him some stick for it at the Baseball Ground.
-
Draw. I don't think our record against Leicester has been that good over the last 20 years.
-
Last time they were in the top flight we scored a combined 8 and conceded 1.
Last three games we have scored 11 against them. We haven't played them mind in 8 years, but they were a championship side then and they still are now.
-
I don't know why but I've got a feeling we are going to be unbeaten over the next 3 games and beat Man Utd. Head towards Christmas unbeaten in 7 and 10th.
Merry bloody Christmas!
-
Any news on vlaar or senderos being back anytime soon ?
-
Any news on vlaar or senderos being back anytime soon ?
No return date for either of them on Physio Room. Reckons Delph will be back boxing day.
-
Vlaar is like bloody polystyrene . Get rid ASAP.
-
I'd love to see things freshened up,back I suppose he will stick to the same side.
Back 5 the same,
Cleverley Sanchez
Bacuna Grealish Nzogbia
Benteke.
Don't see the point of playing Cleverley and Westwood at home to Leicester.
-

Hallucinogenic drugs?
-
:( as it's my last live game before Christmas, a win please...2 nil Villa...Benteke and a Sanchez wonder strike.

a Sanchez wonder strike.
Good shout that - there is definitely one in there, like the Alan Wright 66-1 first scorer once a season wonder.
-
Hopefully we will win, and the next two, which will leave us all happier.
Two matches are as clear to me now as they were many years ago. beating Charlton 11-1 and Leicester 8-3 with Gordon Banks no less in goal.

that's the one RichardE..I remember Wrighty smashing the ball past Walker at Spurs 2000/01 and that great strike v Boro too.

I think we will this one but not as easy as a lot of people seem to think. Us 2 Them 1 in a close game. Anyone know if Albrighton has any chance of playing?

Sadly on neither occasion did I have money on him. One time I did and he hit an absolute screamer which hit the underside of the bar....and bounced out to safety.

is that the one where Dion headed it in from the rebound v the Tory blue wearing lottery winners ?
-
I can't remember. I was probably too busy crying into my lap to see what happened next.
-
Got a feeling this will be a frustrating draw, just don't have confidence in us winning back-to-back games atm. Could see it being 2-2 with us blowing a 2 goal lead by switching off thinking it's game over.
Looks like a very low attendance expected again, and poor from Leicester that they can't shift 3k tickets for a game an hour away in their first season back in the prem.
-
I'd expect about 29-30k ?
-
We'll do these. They are not much cop. Routine 2-0 home win a la Cardiff last season. Benteke and Cleverley.
-

I think so. As unconvincing as we are I still see us winning reasonably comfortably, without necessarily really going at them. If we did show attacking intent and had a go, I think this is a rare game we could dish out a tonking, like Norwich last season. We're too happy to sit back on a goal though.

Don't remember the game Steve, but I saw all of those players play for us and Bobby Thomson, Harry Burrows and John Sleeuwenhoek were a few of my first Villa heroes. I came to appreciate Alan Deakin, Vic Crowe and Nigel Sims a bit later. I was 7. Happy and carefree indeed...only whooping cough, diphtheria and scabies to worry about!
;-)
-
8-0 Villa. The beast running rampant with 5 and Clark, N'Zogbia & Sanchez with the other 3. I really need to stop sniffing the printer toner!
-
Is Leeg going ?
If not, maybe this game has Sunderland potential
-
I'd expect about 29-30k ?
I'm thinking 32+, we're in relatively good form, Benteke's back, and I'd expect Leicester to fill out the away end.
-

Can't he go and nurse PWS, catch the bug and stay away for a few more games?

I was at the Charlton game (with my Dad) and I think Gerry Hitchens scored five. He certainly got four! Never see us get in double figures again Im afraid.
-
Leicester struggling for form with a striker in need of goals come to Villa Park. Too may parallels between Ulloa and Akinbeye for me. I am very, very wary of this crowd.
-
We're under-achieving but they're properly shite. 2-0 us; Benteke with both.
-
3-0 Benteke x 2, Clark.
UTV!!

1 win in 10 .... do we class that as good form for us these days?

Four games unbeaten following a long run of losses.
I'd definitely agree with "relatively good form" compared to what preceded it.
-
Particularly when all 4 teams were in a rich vein of form. It's a minor miracle we came out unscathed.

My thoughts exactly.
-
Funny thing, "current" form. Nobody can ever decide how long is "current" but it always suits their argument.
-
Particularly when all 4 teams were in a rich vein of form. It's a minor miracle we came out unscathed.
Palace had lost 4 of the previous 7.
-

Palace had lost 4 of the previous 7.
But the 2 games immediately before ours saw an impressive draw away at Swansea and they beat Liverpool 3-1.
-
Gerry Hitchens got five in the 11-1 win, it was one of the better days i spent watching Villa.

Looking forward to going to Villa Park, without doubt the finest traditional stadium in the land.

I think we have between us just proved Mr Woodhall's point about the flexibility of the concept of current form!

Well, Robbo, a venerable age you must be. Maybe you were sitting on Dad's knee?
My first visit was a couple of years later as I am but a youngster!
-
Really need to win this or the win at palace will count for nothing. 2-0 win,Benteke scoring both
-
I miss superMarc. Will he be there?
-
Gerry Hitchens was my uncle, my claim to fame. Watched the world cup final in all his kit and an England cap on, I was 6. Loved it
-

He came off the bench in their last game so yes id say he will feature at some point in the game .
-
I am hoping he hasn't given up on his skill of conceding a late, stupid free kick and we score the winner from it.

And from a Burnley fan on the same thread:
the first 45 minutes from them last Saturday was as good as any side to play at Burnley all season, Chelsea aside.

Probably more positive than anything on the H&V post match thread?

Brilliant! :)
-
Will go 2-1 for us. Benteke and Clark. Reckon the Foxes will get a late goal just to give us an edgy few minutes.
-
My last game before Christmas, and i'm going to be brave and go despite being at death's door so we had better win.

2-0 Benteke both.

Louzie0 obviously you will never understand the impact of manflu. It's not just a case of wrapping up warm it's the ordeal of facing the public and feeling of inadeqaucy that destroys you. Mental scars it leaves behind are irreparable!
PWS good luck you brave man.
-
Why is this game not today? Hate you Sky!
Surely if we could be a mid table team for a while these games wouldn't be seen as relegation 6-pointers and get moved.
-
Two nil to Villa and Benteke to score at the Holte End.
It would be nice to see any sort of Villa goal at the Holte End. Was Fulham at the beginning of April the last?
-
Wasn't it Delph v chavski
-
Wasn't it Delph v chavski
Didn't Holt (remember him, anyone?) score at the Holte End when we lost to Fulham?
-
I would bloody love a few Villa goals tomorrow, especially one or more in the Holte End where we'll be. Sounds greedy but I genuinely think the team we can put out tomorrow is good enough to give these bunch of chancers and has-beens a good turning over. I don't like the way our club is being run and I fear the manager has run out of ideas but I'll be cheering the team and want nothing more than Lambert to lead Villa to victory with some decent attacking football thrown in to boot!
-
I'll be north lower tomorrow R3 where the goals will be flowing.
-
A quick bash on the unquestionable simulator that is Fifa, says that we will win 6-1 tomorrow. Zogbia with a double, Gabby and Cleverley continuing the scoring and Benteke getting a double late in the game.
I'll take that.
-
We seem to be getting a bigger share of Sky games than normal (in these post-2010 drudge years).
-
Car crash television. The bloody vultures.
-
Still havent forgiven these bastards for what happened in 1970. Hope we thrash them and they get relegated.
-
Remember the 4-4 draw? Was that under Brian Little? Possibly the game where we lost all confidence and went on a downward spiral iirc? 4-1 up at one time. Mark Draper playing for them.
-

Yeah couldn't believe that result we had been on such a good run going into the game too.
Yeah the Fulham game was after the Chelsea game last season. Didn't know it had been so long since we had scored in front of the Holte and to think it was Grant who got it too!
-
Have a feeling Cleverley will open his account tomorrow. He played for Leicester for a bit didn't he?
He needs to start contributing some goals anyway otherwise he just goes down as just another in a long list of very mediocre midfielders we've had at the club in recent years.
-
I thought cleverley started quite well but he's been a bit anonymous since going out wide
Westwood has also gone off the boil
I think the team pretty much picks itself for tomorrow, the only real choice being the formation. I'm assuming n'zogbia comes in.
-
3-1 to the Villa boys Come on you Lions
-

My game came up with a 2-2 draw. With me scoring a beauty of a volley and Nzobgia burying laser of a shot as he sprinted into the box picking up a Benteke through pass. I have no idea who scored for Leicester, I don't pay much attention to what happens in that half of the pitch, tracking back is not my thing.

Sounds like Zogbia might have a good one today.
If he's shit again I'm tossing my game out the window.
-
I love FIFA 15. Really wasn't sure at first but now after a solid 3 months of playing it I think it just may be the best one yet.
As for todays game, please win today Villa. I'm certainly not of the belief that we have turned some sort of corner long term but this is definitely a game we can win provided we try and score 2-3 as opposed to scoring once and then defending for 80 minutes.
-
With Weimann out, which 2 from 4 do we expect to start with Gabby behind Benteke: Grealish or Nzogbia or Richardson or Robinson?
-

I'd say N'Zogbia is next on the list, shouldn't be much of a problem - I've been impressed with him when he's played this season and he really helps give the team a forward drive without Delph around.
-
Please win
-
I imagine westwood cleverley and sanchez plus n'zogbia gabby and bEnteke
Just not sure of the shape - 433, 4231 with cleverley in the no 10 role or more of a 442 with cleverley wide again
None of them are quite right. We could have done with Cole for this one. Perhaps GREALISH will come on at some stage
-
Come on villa let's do this today .
-
Please win
I'll add a pretty please if it helps.
Daft thing is a win today puts us above Everton, or as it was put to me by my son - top of the teams who might go down.
-
Ive no idea how this is going to go . Leicester played some decent football in the week , in fact better than we did.
You would think its a home banker but this is my home town club and I've had so much shit from Leicester fans over the years
Where they were a bloody bogey team until we stuffed them 3 o and 5 0 one season.
The last game I saw live between us was a tight cup game where I think we won 3 2 and I had to sit in the Leicester end.
I reckon 1 1
And another thing please Lambert don't buy cleverly , use the money for Bolaise instead . I mentioned him when ever one was going on about Zaha and I said bolaise is the player to get for around two million . Get rid of nzogbia and spend the cleverly money on bolaise .
Ps bolaise wont be two million now :(

I really hope Charles does not play. I'd give Grealish a start in a roving role (not stuck out on the wing) and ask him to beat his man, find the channels for Bênteke and Gabby and do the unexpected.
-
Totally agree Mister E. Nzogbia must have the worst statistics for losing the ball. Grealish holds the ball up well and can play a ball into Benteke. Got a feeling he might start with Richardson ......
-
Great opportunity for us to put some distance between ourselves and the bottom 3 but I think this could end in a stalemate so 1-1 for me, hopefully the Beast will have something to say about that and will prove me wrong
-
I am a little nervous about this one. How many times during Lambert's management have we thought we have turned the corner only to balls up a 'winnable' match? Let's hope I am wrong.
-
1-1
or 0-2 if it's 'typical Villa'.
Or 4-0 if we've turned the corner.
-
I didn't realise Villa were playing today, or Swansea.
The way MOTD2 were talking I presumed it was West Ham v Leicester.
-
With Weimann out, which 2 from 4 do we expect to start with Gabby behind Benteke: Grealish or Nzogbia or Richardson or Robinson?
I'd say N'Zogbia is next on the list, shouldn't be much of a problem - I've been impressed with him when he's played this season and he really helps give the team a forward drive without Delph around.
You've been impressed by N'Zogbia?
-
I'd definitely play n'zogbia. He's the one player who is genuinely creative, apart from the injured Cole and unproven grealish
N'zogbia was a major threat v Spurs in a central role. But I think he'll play wider
He could be absolute Blues but surely we can't play against the bottom of the table side at home without a genuinely creative player in the side
-
Granted, N'Zogbia had a good game vs Spurs, but in every other game he's played he has been a liability. Sadly, he's a talented footballer without a hint of a footballing brain. Having said that Lambert will probably select him.
-
The advantage with Zog is that at least his first thought is always to attack, which if he has a half decent game can only benefit us at home. Compare with Gabby, Andi who will often just slow down an attack and/or pass backwards. Obviously if Zog has one of his utter gash games then it doesn't really matter what his first thought is as he'll just keep giving the ball away.

As i'm at death's door i'm now waiting for my lift to VP with the ever generous Mr Sox. I'm very tempted to wind him up and take a scarf to hang out the window for the massive journey from Hagley Road to VP.

Just so long as you don't use the one you should be wearing in your state...

Don't forget to do some singing and chanting en route. Mr Sox likes to be entertained thusly.

I once entertained him when we leaving Stoke by singing the Benteke song in the style of Brian Blessed. I don't think my throat will cope with Brian Blessed style "oooooooooohs" though. Which will disappoint him.

We always did it from the Crabmill to VP!
Hope a win will make you feel better PWS

Another option is Bacuna but he probably will go with N'zogbia.

Just arrived in a sun drenched Aston.

N'Zog in for Weimann
