From when teams are announced.

5-3-2 it seems

#AVFC: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Baker, Bertrand, Westwood, Delph, Albrighton, Agbonlahor, Weimann. #AVFCLIVE

subs Steer Bacuna Sylla Holt Robinson Bowery El Ahmadi #avfc #utv

Can't say I am impressed with that team. Not sure why going 2 men in midfield is the way to go or Weimann being evidently undroppable..

Fuck not impressed at all.what has Helenius done wrong??

Looks 442 with Bertrand and Albrighton wide possibly.

Once again he plays someone who will look to get crosses in without playing the guy who is an obvious aerial threat.

Coward. That's a cowardly line-up. And what the fuck is Weimann still doing in the team? And why aren't we getting at their main weakness, namely down the wings? Why aren't we playing Holt, the only attacker with any experience of this situation? How badly does Baker have to fuck up before he gets bombed out of the team?

If we go down Lambert will be remembered as the worst manager we've ever had. Christ I hope we win somehow, but now I can't see how that will happen.

Holt has to play if you pick Albrighton. First half last week he would have been in for easy headers 2 or 3 times. Gabby is a poor centre forward and Weimann unfortunately has been found out completely. Needed to play Holt or Helenius today. Ducking Weimann pisses me right off.he was poor apart from Sunderland for weeks at the close of last season too. Just don't see what others seem to with him.

Long will be on Baker like a fucking rash. Huddlestone will run the game. If it is 4 4 2 then why not Tonev out wide. But then why not Tonev in for Weimann anyway as a change ???

predictable line up from a manager who knows his time is up. There was no need to pick the same line up, or such a boring line up again, but he has. You know how we'll play which is the most disappointing aspect of all of this.

We'll smash them.

I can see this being one of those depressingly aimless performances where the only person in the stadium who can't see it should be changed is the man with 'PL' on his tracksuit.

I was just out mowing the lawn in the sun, and found myself with a good feeling about today.

Then I saw that line up, and it has all gone. We're clearly aiming for a point. That rarely works for us.

If Real Madrid only watched the footage of Long vs Baker from the game at the Hawthorns he'd be lined up next to Benzema awaiting Atletico in the CL final.

Particularly as he's said over and over again that we need one win. If he's going for the draw today, where does he think that win's going to come from? The Etihad?

Maybe Lambert has taken inspiration from how Mourinho played two LB's in a CL SF at home during the week. Maybe in the version of the newspaper he read the following morning, Chelsea got through.

Anyway, let's see how this pans out. I'll take a miserable 1-0 to end the doubt.

There's still no actual structure to the team. The movement off the ball is horrible, and they essentially have to improvise every aspect of the game. However, if they win, that's all that counts today.

And we've now got Bowery on the pitch and no Gabby. That's our attacking menace for the day.

To be honest, even though the goal is bullshit, we've been playing poorly ever since Gabby went off.

Bowery's broke his duck! Thank fuck for that..... Just needs to score in the right bloody end now!

Just when you thought our club couldn't be turned into any more of a joke. Holt and Robinson on the bench and he brings a 3rd/4th tier player on instead. The man is a genius!

Nice one Paul.

Good display in the first half. We've looked a lot brighter than the last month. For 10 minutes after Hulls equalizer, we looked in danger of just letting our momentum drop but we got back on the front foot.

Well done Andi. He looks a better player when he's playing through the middle. He's a striker, not a wide forward. The goals will do him the world of good.

I've been impressed with Bowery too. I think he's provided a lot of energy. Obviously much has been said of just what Bowery offers a side, and why we signed him but in all honesty I've always felt he'd be a better option for us than Grant Holt. We're a side, at our best, reliant on lots of running around. Bowery might not have the pedigree but he's got the legs and he's providing the sort of energy and pace that is well beyond Holt at the moment. He's looking more comfortable playing centrally and pulling out wide, rather than as a make shift winger. I'd love to see JB get a goal today (in the right end that is).

Also just to re-iterate what we all know. Guzan is top class. Thank fucking Christ we have him.

Hull thankfully have just been a little shy to press us. They've got one eye on the cup final it seems. We should see this one out comfortably.

Home and dry (hopefully).

This is what pisses everyone off the most. Against sides in the mid to lower reaches of the table we are very capable of this kind of performance. It is so frustrating how inconsistent we are and so refreshing to see us play this way.

Hands up . That was a decent cross
He's played well to be fair. Unfair to blame him for the og, but he's looked lively at the other end.
I would go as far as to say is offering more than Holt may have done. The ability to run helps in our setup.
Agreed.

As for us, we haven't been particularly brilliant today but we wanted it more and got the goals. At similar times for Fulham, Norwich and Cardiff they've failed to do that. We haven't been pretty, but we do deserve to stay up.
