Title: Palace
Post by: Chico Hamilton III on February 27, 2014, 02:41:04 PM
Any idea when tickets are on sale for Palace? I'm looking to get hold of quite a few.

God knows why, I've never ever seen us win there. Last time I went I think big fat Jon Hartson scored a late equaliser for Wimbledon. And Robbo1874 nearly got bummed by rugger buggers when they caught him nicking their buffet in a pub after the game. They should have said if it was a private function.....

Thanks

Away tickets normally go on sale about 6 weeks before the game so I presume it'll be in the next week or so.

Ta, hoping to get some too. I've only been there once and Wimbledon got a late equaliser. It may have been the same game Chico?

It would have been their last home game in the top flight I think.

Think I'll go to this...you haven't lived if you haven't experienced Selhurst Park once in your life I reckon!

Had a look on Palace's website and we're a Cat B game unsurprisingly so think it's 32 quid which isn't too bad for a London away day.

Anyone know how many we'll get/if it's likely to sell out. Really keen to take my 2 boys who haven't seen us win yet.

About 3k, Wimbledon used to give the whole stand I think which was 6k.

The first time I went to Selhurst Park Charlton beat us 3-0 to as good as relegate us and the last time I went Wimbledon knocked us out of the FA Cup on penalties. All of the games I went to there inbetween produced one win. The Dalian umbrella game.

Knowing us we'll ask for 1,300 two weeks before the game and won't take a second allocation for fear of not selling out on time.

On a serious note I think it's 2,200.

Ade, there's one here if you need it.

I think he means those pubs near the ground which are rammed with Villa, where it takes an age to get served and the crap beer is in plastic glasses. I don't think he means Villa fans in general.

Absolutely nothing.  As we get older though some of us prefer to go to a pub where we can get served, in glass glasses and hopefully a choice of beers for the more discerning in the group.
Title: Re: Palace
Post by: ADVILLAFAN on March 11, 2014, 12:26:13 PM
When I was 18 I liked to go to pubs full of Villa fans singing loudly.

I'm older now and avoid these pubs as I want to get served and can't be bothered to sing songs about *insert place name* being a shithole.

Booked hotel for the weekend of the Palace game. We're right next to Monument, which is only a stop (and a trip across the Thames) to London Bridge and the from there it's only about a 13 minute ride to Norwood Junction, splendiferous.

The only thing that can spoil the weekend is Villa   ;)

Does look like an easy walk on Google. Thanks Chico.

Just rang Villa up as they have charged me for 3 tickets but I only wanted 2. Unfortunately they have already sent the tickets out so I need to take 1 back to the ticket office to get the £32 refund.

Is there anyone who wants 1 ticket for Palace away who will pay me £32 for it? Saves you a booking fee.

If the tickets arrive by Saturday I can meet outside the ground before the Chelsea game?

..a few weeks back we struggled to shift 1800 tickets for Everton, one of the easier away games to get to, and then we sell out 2600 at Palace 4 weeks in advance.

Go to a game in London, particularly sahf of the rivva, and see how many of our supporters are local. With my purely commercial head on, I know I'll shift three or four times as many H&Vs at Palace as I would at Everton.

We also seem to have a better away support during school holidays. e.g. Good sales for Newcastle at the end of Feb half-term and the Palace game is the day after schools break up for Easter.

My one memory of my first time at Palace was my brother parking in front of a disused looking garage up a side road not far from the ground. We looked through the window, saw that it seemed like no-one had used it in years and decided it would be ok. On our return, we found a very irate cockney yelling at people walking past him before turning to us and telling us that we had been parked in front of his 'facking garage' all 'facking afternoon'. He was still ranting and raving whilst we were offering our apologies but that fact that every other word was 'facking' made it very amusing. His parting words were 'I've rang the police and they've been round and took your registration number so chew on that on your way back to brum yer cants'. Oh how we laughed.

Ha, You've probably got mine! Spoke to an arrogant kid in the ticket office.  Blamed my postal address because I live in an Apartment Complex. When I advised him I go to 90% of aways and never have a problem he was stil obnoxious.  Just makes it even more annoying that Sellhurst is a nightmare to get too, so to go the ticket office makes it even more annoying.

I saw that they'd charged me for 3 tickets. Rang them up and said that I'd only ordered 2. He said "I can see that you've only ordered 2, but then there's another charge for a 3rd ticket (and it came separately from the other 2). Don't worry, you're still in time to return it, the deadline isn't up yet".

Cheers! I should think so too.  :)
