Liverpool and Arsenal again!
-
This is a fuckin disgrace....aint worth having a ST perhaps the club can send me one of those questionnaires next season when i dont renew!!!
-
great....cheers SKY..knobbers..
-
great, that means trying to find a way down from Manchester when i finish work at 5:30. What a joke.
-
I hate Monday night games. The Liverpool change is not so much of an issue but I understand it will be for some.
-
Horray!!! Not content with us having these new fangled midweek Prem evening fixtures in Janaury and Febuary, another Saturday game early in the new year has been put back to an early evening start. Thanks you bastards, I like freezing my bollocks off on a plastic seat so some fat twats who never go to games can sit on their arses in the comforts on their homes and watch my team shiver to another defeat against the sky 6.
I am seriously thinking this is my last home season ticket. I'll do what my brother does and pick home 3pm fixtures.
-
Brilliant, both January home games are now mid-week. What a joke.

The fact the OS story doesn't even contain an apology to supporters for any inconvenience caused just about sums it all up.
-
In what way is this a surprise?

In what way is this a surprise?
The game was sold to Sky 20 odd years ago, this isn't anything new.

Thats my point really, I understand that this incoveniences many people but it's guaranteed that a number of matches will move, without a great deal of notice, to evenings and Sundays.
Surely everyone is aware of this when they buy a season ticket?
-
I can't wait for them to ring me when it comes to Season Ticket renewal time. I shall have a list as long as my arm of reasons why I won't be renewing.

I've gone the way of your brother, too. 3pm on a Saturday is the ideal KO time, which is why it was used for about a century until Sky turned up.
-
The problem is that they often seem to involve one team in back to back fixtures, probably to be able to provide some continuity as commentary material. On this occasion, it has to be us. I am pissed off about both of these fixtures but while we keep paying Sky, we are all to blame, including us.
-
Bloody hell. I feel for you lot back home who have season tickets. What is the point of them if half the games are going to be changed.
This is ridiculous, but no surprise to be honest. Football's soul was sold to the highest bidder a long time ago.
Still shit for you lot though. Especially families who have kids at school the next day, or shift workers and for every person who had pre-booked travel.
-
Well, what a surprise. Not.
-
Monday night 8 o'clock KO in mid January. Travel to and from the game will be a right pain. I've got a milestone birthday that week and may have to adjust plans. Thanks Sky.

I'm struggling to remember us ever beating Liverpool on telly. Hopefully that cheating twat Gerrard will be injured.
-
-
Can't afford to go down much nowadays so the more games on tele the better, sorry
-
Not sure that we have ever beaten Liverpool in a live televised game since Davies scred in that 3-1 win and reo-Coker impressed.
-
Arsenal at home is strange, always gets moved for TV (can't remember the last time we play them at 3pm on a Saturday at home) and yet more often than not the Emirates fixture doesn't.
Can't stand Monday night games but will probably go to this one as I'll have a spare ticket as my Dad doesn't go to midweek games anymore and my Mother is a gooner so that problem is solved.
-
The problem is most of us enjoy watching other matches on TV so we can't really have too much to say when it is our turn, however much of a pain in the fucking arse it is.

I can - it was about 5 years ago when the cheeky fecking Goonies were singing "You need more foreigners" at us cos all our team were British and all of theirs were European or South American. It was a fantastic game; all Arse first half and all us second half. A draw would have been a fair result but alas.....
As for this move to Monday for the Arse game it's really fucked me up 'cos i'm on a course in Leeds that week and there's no fecking way i'll get back in time. Looks like my best mate's got a free seat. A happy sausage I most definately aint! >:(

2-2 draw under houllier was on a Saturday, as were last season and the season before.
-
As I have recently started a new job which involves working Saturdays and Sundays, anything moving games off the weekend is good news for me.
However, I still see Murdoch and SKY as the enemy.

That was a Sat 5.30pm I think, 1-2 Arsenal?
I genuinely can't remember playing Arsenal at 3pm at home for ages, we've even played Man. United at 3pm in recent living memory (Ron Saunders game in 2006).
Why does this guy get messed around so much and yet the Emirates one rarely gets touched. Can't work it out considering Arsenal never lose at VP and we frequently get a surprise result at the Emirates.
-
It was a Sat evening game, Dec 2007. Carew destroyed Arsenal but Flamini was on fire and Arsenal held on.

Three years ago, they won 4-2 and Ciaran Clark scored two.

As Nev said, we know it is going to happen. But that will be six weeks between Premier League Saturday home 3pm games from December to February. I'm lucky that my lad is a bit older but games being moved to a Monday night must be a pain for people who take their young kids who have to be up for school next morning.
-
The thing with the Arsenal match is that we will not know until 5pm the Saturday before when the game is going to be played (and maybe not until the Sunday if ours or their FA cup match is moved for TV.
How can people arrange their lives with this unpredictability? People who would rearrange shifts, baby sitting, transport, etc have virtually no chance now. A far greater uproar should be made against this particular change. If it is going to be changed then the date should be definite now and people can plan accordingly, not have maybe 6 days notice.
Anyway don't the police have to have a certain amount of notice prior to a game being played?
-
I can't wait for them to ring me when it comes to Season Ticket renewal time. I shall have a list as long as my arm of reasons why I won't be renewing.
That they will apologise for with absolutely no sincerity and then replace you with an unsuspecting newbie. I don't go to the games any more because I don't get the same buzz that I used to and this type of customer treatment is part of it as well as the obvious extortionate expense.
-

Wasn't that the live TV Saturday lunchtime game?
-
Yep that kicked off at 12.45pm.
Checked back and the last time we played Arsenal at 3pm on a Saturday was April 2003! Sums up modern football we go that length of time without playing a regular league team at the standard kick off team.
On the whole we haven't done too badly with 3pm kicks off this season, certainly compared to a few seasons ago when we were in Europe and every single game during the winter seemed to be on a Sunday.
I also just read aswell this could move back to the weekend due to their being FA cup replays that weekend?! Agreed ridiculous to think fans can change plans at a flick of a switch, just put it as another Sunday game if needs be, Sky are showing 3 this Sunday.
-
The Halsey-Henri quickstep free-kick game was a 3pm Saturday, was that the last?
Cheating feckers.
-
It wasn't, that was played sometime on a Sunday.
April 2003 was the last unless I've missed a more recent one out although we've played them a few times midweek in recent seasons.
-
When was the last time we played at home to either Arsenal, Liverpool or man United on a Saturday at 3pm?
When the fixtures are produced at the start of the season dont plan for these home fixtures.
-
I detest early Kick-offs, thing is I cannot believe too many people watch the early game on the TV either. Still this is the game nowadays too many games on TV too much money to Footballers.
-
My first opportunity to post in this topic - whilst I accept that fixtures are changed to appease SKY and other broadcasters it does not not mean I agree with it - I have already been affected by the Fulham fixture change which has cost me in additional hotel charges.. As someone else stated - there is not even an apology on the official site when such changes are announced.
This has now hacked me off to such an extent that I have already decided not to renew my season card next year-this decison is coupled with the fact that the current state of affairs at B6 means that seats are readily available for most games. Many fans are now expressing their dissatisfaction in the way they are treated by SKY, clubs and other associated third partieswithin the football world and voting with their feet.
Its bad enough forking out for expensive tickets but having to lose out on train tickets, hotel bookings, plane tickets etc is ridiculous. Its a shame that all fans can`t collectivley say a big NO to increased prices, constant fixture changes, three new kits a year etc and launch a boycott against the running of the modern game, in particular the Premier League. To conclude this is one football fan that has had enough and is staying away - I have not had SKY either for about 20 years!
-
Personally i wouldn't buy hotel or train tickets until i knew what day the game was definitely on. I might be right in thinking that they can't change the date once tickets go on sale but i stand correct on that.
-
For somebody where every home game is an away game, I have to say that I loathe early kick offs. I understand when they're moved for safety reasons, but the Fulham game for example is a real ball ache. I will now have to stop over in Brum the night before.
I don't tend to mind the evening kick offs too much, although Southampton and Cardiff will involve half days.

Like you Ads I travel a fair distance - I just get frustrated when I have to juggle my time off and Juniors school leaving times to facilitate getting to VP on Mondays in particular. Yes the early kick offs are a pain also. I would have loved to have gone to Southampton on a weekend so I could meet up with some of the guys who post on here and live on the coast.

Absolutely how i feel and i dont think i will be renewing either next year due to this.Im actually more pissed off with villa about this.Potentially six days notice is just not on, especially if its a 12pm Sunday ko.Why dont Villa just say no...whats the worst that can happen!! A fine, points deduction, anything? I feel for the Arsenal fans too, how can they make travel arrangements when they dont know the date of the game until 6 days before the game.
Im really surprised this hasnt caused more uproar...we just seem to accept it, but no other sport treats its customers like football does, with total disdain!!
-
I think regarding hotels and train , coach tickets that often the more in advance you book the cheaper the price - it really is frustrating when people make plans and then games get switched .
-
Personally i wouldn't buy hotel or train tickets until i knew what day the game was definitely on. I might be right in thinking that they can't change the date once tickets go on sale but i stand correct on that.
I remember the game at anfield 3/4 years ago (2-2), when it was originally a saturday 3pm, we sold out our 3000 allocation and i think with 10 days notice IIRC they moved it to a monday night, so it has happened in the past.
-
I think the Arsenal game is ridiculous. The date should be known before you buy the ticket. I can only presume that Villa and Arsenal will allow people to return their tickets if needed.

I'm not sure they can do that now, but like i said earlier i stand correct.

Wasn't it a couple of years ago we played Reading away and Sky only decided to switch the game and show it 10 days before the fixture? Now that was a disgrace.
-
I meant to say, when was the last time we played Man Utd on a Saturday at 3pm.
Definitely when we last beat them in the league at home, but I've got visions of Joachim scoring an equaliser when we were both at the top. Probably 1999?

There was a game under o Leary when we chasing Europe - i think it was our last home game of the season maybe and just before utd played millwall in the cup final- Ronaldo was their best player that day - I think it started at 3pm,?

Yes, the Marlon Harewood wonder-goal game. I'm pretty sure that when we bought tickets it was for the Saturday 3pm, but then got moved to Sunday lunchtime very late.

No, it was definately a Saturday because I remember doing a shift on brownhills market that day helping out a mate and had to miss the game - Saturday 15 may , I had it on the radio - Ronaldo got sent off late on .
Just checked online - it was a 3pm kick off on the Saturday, not sure of the reason why but it seems all sides played their last game on the Saturday that season .

We played Man. United at home on a saturday at 3pm in December 2006, when Ron Saunders returned to Villa Park.
So more recently than either Arsenal or Man. United.
