Friday 26.7.13 7:30pm KO
0-2 away win
Delph 24
Baker 56
-
We're warming up now, we should hopefully have 1-2 players back, and hopefully a bit of extra cutting edge in one of our senior attacking players. We're due a win, so I'll say we'll win.
We'll also get a clean sheet and people will stop worrying about our defensive frailties going into next season! ;)
3-0 Villa. Westy, Bacuna mattata, Grealish.
-
Nil nil. We defend stoically for ninety minutes. Vlaar and Baker clear everything including 27 corners. Which gives us the new worry of how come our midfield is so over-run by Crewe.
Does Dario Grady still have anything to do with them? I got a bit confused for a while back there, he was always resigning then being re-employed.
-
I thought we called these things "monster" threads? *confused*
Anyway, I wonder if Lambert and his scouts will be compiling a dosier on the Crewe side for future reference?
-
My first visit to Gresty Road (or whatever it's called now). I'll go for 2-2. Benteke and Lowton.

Same here, leaving Wolverhampton on the 15:20
2-4, Bentake (2) Vlaar and Westwood (doesnt celebrate)

I'm trying to be creative.
-
Them 5 Us 0
We're doomed to relegation.
-
6 nil away win complete with a drunken streak from MB.
-
Think they will be a little embarrased over the Luton result, and feel that this is our first pre season win.
Would love to take a 0-2 win, but with pollyfilla Ron on top form I'll go for a 1-2 victory (Benteke both goals)
-
2 down at halftime and inspirational talk from Lambert, and we win 3-2.......:)
-
2 down at halftime and inspirational talk from Taylor, and we win 3-2.......:)
Fixed. Hold on, sorry. Thought I was on "Villa Memories".
-

He's now Technical Director, was on talksprouts earlier

any news on the fitness of the guys missing from Luton game?
-
Gutted this is on a Friday!
2 0 loss
-
1-1 draw
-
Back to winning ways. 2-1.
-
any news on the fitness of the guys missing from Luton game?
As always, we haven't heard anything definite but some article or interview with Lambert somewhere suggested most of them have a chance of being fit enough. I think.
2-1 to the Villa, sez I

I think he implied that a few of the crocks would be ready for Friday, but not all. Weimann's out for a week or two more.
-
Always used to be good Steak and Kidney Pudding, Chips and Gravy in Crewe.
-
Stop it I am fasting!
-
4-0 away win!
-
Helenius will apparently be fit-ish
-
2-2, with yet another sparkling display at the back.
Benteke to set up one, Helenius/Weimann to score.
-
0-0 clean sheet for Villa

Any news on them renaming the club Crewe Alexander in honour of the new Prince ?

His great-great-great grandmother was called Crewe? Poor cow.
-
Can't believe i have just rejected 6 complimentary tickets with a free bar. I just can't get there tomo :(
-
We're due a win. 3-1, I say.
-
Fuck it.... 1-4 Us
A brilliant start to hopefully a great Friday night!!!
-
Any news on them renaming the club Crewe Alexander in honour of the new Prince ?
Commemorating James Alexander Gordon, whose voice packed in this week, would be far more fitting.
-
Gutted this is on a Friday!
2 0 loss
That's what Radiohead used to be called.
-
0-0. Will be nice for Westwood to return to the club he used to skipper.
-
I am totally bricking it
-
Can't believe we have such a crucial 6 pointer this early in the season.
-
Put the kids in!
-
2-0 win for villa tonight I think. Benteke and bacuna scoring.
-
1-0 to them.
Agent Westwood shows his true colours and scores an OG in the 90th minute. He wheels away to his celebrate with his dad in the crowd who points at the score board looks into the AVTV camera and mouths "lights out Villa" with that and all power to the stadium goes out in a flash. In the confusion Westwood disappears and is never heard from again.
-
Got 4 adult tickets going spare due to illness. Offers if anyone can pick em up from Walsall/Willenhall area
-
I'd rest all the top players and use them against Newport on Sunday

Her middle name was Ella.

Apparently, Crewe are selling 600 tickets for Villa fans at the game.
-
Apparently, Crewe are selling 600 tickets for Villa fans at the game.
How does that work then ?
"This ticket entitles the holder to one Villa fan ".
-
Did we sell all our tickets for this?
-
Did we sell all our tickets for this?
Apparently we have a few left but they are restricted view. So probably better to just go up to Crewe and buy from them.
-
Hasn't Kendrick announced the team yet?
-
Hasn't Kendrick announced the team yet?
Have we changed manager? What happened to Lambert?
-
So, what odds on AVTV managing the whole game with no problems?
-
VILLA: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Bacuna, El Ahmadi, Agbonlahor, Luna, Westwood, Benteke, Weimann
-
@MatKendrick: Villa: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Bacuna, El Ahmadi, Agbonlahor, Luna, Westwood, Benteke, Weimann. #avfc
-
@MatKendrick: Villa team after an hour: Steer, Donacien, Baker, Bacuna, Helenius, Delph, Sylla, Robinson, Herd, Gardner, Carruthers. #avfc
-
Any significance if Bacuna playing the whole match?
-
Still no Tonev or Okore? Bugger.
-
What's the situation with Okore's injury?
-
So, what odds on AVTV managing the whole game with no problems?
Jack will see us alright, no problem.
-
Is Joe Bennett injured?

They've already had sound problems.
My sound problem is I can now hear Jack.

Get into 'em!
-
Please no injuries lord...
-
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL
-
He's got a foot like a traction engine.
-
Now that's a start.
-
What a fucking goalllllllll
-
Who scored?!
-
Who scored?!
Weimann
-
Who scored?!
Andi W.
-
Goal by Andy. I was trying to check the 2nd half team and missed it. AVFC as shite as they are, have no replays.
-
Who scored?!
Weimann
Who scored?!
Andi W.
Cheers both.
Excellent news! I predict great things for that lad this season.
-
KEA looking decent. Moon has a goal disallowed for offside.
-
Goal by Andy. I was trying to check the 2nd half team and missed it. AVFC as shite as they are, have no replays.
I'd say be happy you get to see (some of) the game this time.
-
Luna goal ruled out for offside.
-
That first half team with the exception of 1 or 2 looks like it might be the team for most of the season.
-
Just showed the goal on SSN. The reporter, however, claimed twice that our goal was scored by "Andy Wiseman".
-

At least we get to watch, not often you can watch a friendly like this.
-
Is that all the Villa fans behind that goal to the left? Thought there'd be more than that there.
-
That first half team with the exception of 1 or 2 looks like it might be the team for most of the season.
Yup. The second half team looks pretty light.
-
Is that all the Villa fans behind that goal to the left? Thought there'd be more than that there.
Supposedly around 1500 there, not bad for a Friday friendly.
-
2-0 GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL
-
Any info on the way the formation has settled down? Have had to stop watching for annoying reasons.
-
2-0 Bentekeeeeeeeeee
-
Judas scores. Liquid football.
-
This is more like it!
-
Think I'll go home at half-time.
-
2-0. Benteke from a Wiemann assist.
Anyone else watching, think that Benteke looks like he's carrying a bit of timber?
-
Another good effort. We're gonna score more than the Australian cricket team at this rate.
-
Weimann with the assist, he's looking really so far
-
How's the defence lined up and how they looking.
-
This is it. Let start talking clean sheet. 2-0 ? 10-0 ? Less then 80 minutes to go, clean sheet guaranteed.
-
Isn't this meant to be on the villa site...if so why can't I see it? I've logged in and got nowhere!!!
-
Is it pessimistic that I really want to get the pair of them off now before they get injured?

Have you paid?
-
Luna likes to get forward, doesn't he?
-
How did we miss that? Bad miss from Gabby.
-
Luna in again, corner. Should of had a third there.
-
What a fucking goal.
-
3-0 Bentekeeeeeee
-
I know it's only Crewe but that really was liquid football.
-
We appear to have transformed into Brazil 1970 just like against Sunderland. Bloody hell.
-
This is a bit more like it chaps! Hope I get to see the goals somewhere later or tomorrow
-
Superb assist from KEA, but the one touch passing, pass and move and then twat, back of the net.
-
Holy shit.
El-Ahmadi - still got a part to play i reckon
-
KEA with a crisp lob assist.
-
What a goal! Lovely build up. Well taken by Tekkers.
KEA has been very good today. He's looked a lot sharper on the ball today. Quicker, more zip about his passes. Lovely assist there too. This is what we want to see from a Morocco international.
-
Took that very well - good finish.
-
Free kick for them over the bar.
-
One touch football, pass and move, who the fuck is this lot wearing Villa shirts?
-
Lets just tell KEA the league games are pre season.
-
We're playing exceptionally well.
I still don't think we'll keep a clean sheet, though.
-
4-0 Benteke hat-trick
-
Could someone PM me a link please?
-
Thanks folks, couldn't get it to work on my tablet, I'm resorting to watching on my phone. Sadly I have to listen to woodwank
-
4-0 Benteke hatrick oooooh yesssssss
-
Bloody hell. What happened to KEA? SOmeone give him spinach or summat?
Tekkers, just a complete footballer. Amazing.
-
El-A has been very good so far.
-
Could someone PM me a link please?
You have to subscribed to AVTV. It's free if you have a ST last year or this.

-
4-1, goal from a corner. 33 games............
-
And there it is.
Fuck me, will we ever EVER keep another clean sheet?
-
Well well well who would have thought we would concede .....
-
You can paypal Ł5 for the remaining games.
-
One touch football, pass and move, who the fuck is this lot wearing Villa shirts?
The same team that kept us up from March-ish onwards.
-
Typical Villa caught wanting in defence 4-1
-
lol. Had to be.
-
I missed that one as well - poor defending at a corner I'm guessing?
-
Another cornality.
-
Who wouldn't be happy winning every game and conceding shedloads
-
Fuck it.... 1-4 Us
A brilliant start to hopefully a great Friday night!!!
Bang on so far....
-
More dirty sheets. Wankers.
-
That was a nasty challenge from Clark. Could have been a red in a real game I reckon.
-
Another cornality.
*cornalty.
-
Bacuna shot deflected over. Clark booked with an awful tackle.
-
Poor from Clark. No need for that
-
Another cornality.
*cornalty.
Yeah, one of those. With the way we defend corners, I'll get used to the spelling. In fact it will probably get into the Oxford dictionary.
-
Poor from Clark. No need for that
He would have been sent off if it weren't a friendly
-
Half time. Not bad at all.
-
Half-time great first 45.
-
Poor from Clark. No need for that
He would have been sent off if it weren't a friendly
Agreed. He should have been apologising to the player instead of arguing with the ref. Bad sign to see him do that.
-
Just getting off a plane boys. How we doing?
-
Their goal and Clark awful (red card) tackle have been the only let downs in a really positive first half display.
-
Just getting off a plane boys. How we doing?
Class.
-
evening all. Completely missed first half. How we doing?
-
A much improved performance by Jack. Easily his best this pre-season. I thought he was going to keep a clean sheet until he started banging on about golf clubs.
-
I take it, Vlaar and clarke ?
Dissapointed that we have let one in again, but sounds like we are playing well.
About to show goals on spn
-
Excellent so far. Some great football played...AND no clean sheet of course.
-
I've spent most of the last year defending Clark to people, but that lad needs to sort his bloody head out.
-
Really beginning to think that the reason we concede so many as per this evening is because our reactions aren't quick enough. There was time when he brought the ball down and it ran away from him slightly for anyone with sharp reactions to get a foot in but he had all the time in the world to get his foot behind it and slam it home.
Then we go up the other end and the ball falls in their area and Clark (and others) are not quick enough reacting and the ball is cleared resulting in Clark making a red card challenge in a normal match
-
Some nice stuff there, especially Ahmadi. Defence still looks a bit suspect at times though. Probably as both full backs push up too much for my liking
-
evening all. Completely missed first half. How we doing?
For Toronto and CJ, we are winning 4-1
-
Ta muchly. Clean sheet was too much to hope for - was theirs from a cornalty?
-
I've spent most of the last year defending Clark to people, but that lad needs to sort his bloody head out.
Too much of a pretty boy to be a centre half.
-
Hopefully it won't rain for the Málaga game, it's my 9 year old daughters first ever game. She plays football for her school and has been asking me since May 'Are we going to the football this week. Finally it's nearly here.
-
Ta muchly. Clean sheet was too much to hope for - was theirs from a cornalty?
But of course...
-
You can see why we are linked with that Marco Capueno fella who plays centre half
-
I take it, Vlaar and clarke ?
Disappointed that we have let one in again, but sounds like we are playing well.
About to show goals on ssn
Clark warleyboy matey
-
About to kick off for the second.
-
Just on spn, goals really well taken, poor defending for Crewe goal, looked a shambles in defence, and kea's lob was terrific for Tekkers 2nd.utv
-
Another nice move.
-
Good move just over from Lowton.
-
I am loving how Lambert has our fullbacks lining up. They become forwards. It is insanely aggressive. I love it.
-
Seen the goals on SSN, really nice goals. Benteke takes his goals so early....but Clarke boy, are you really a footballer!?
-
Clark. It's a 5 letter name, surely we can spell it correctly? ;D
-
Clark. It's a 5 letter name, surely we can spell it correctly? ;D
The hardest 5 letter word in the world to spell. I think we need to vary up the mispelling and call him Carke or Clrke. Clarke is getting a bit boring now.
-

I still think he'd play better if we could all spell his name properly. We jinx him.
-
Free kick for Crewe.
-
Looks like this lot are just waiting for the hour mark. We're at walking pace now. Gabby has been disappointing considering how much we've been attacking.
-
Surely 'Crew'?
I'll get me coat...
-
Just passing it around nicely atm.
-
Here come the subs.
-
Luna likes to get forward, doesn't he?
Like a Spanish train driver.
-
Benteke shot pulled wide, team change over time now.
-
Thats an odd back 4

Crewe's fans getting Benteke's signature haha

Bullseye
-
Carruthers getting stuck in there.
-
I would like Carruthers to get on the score sheet tonight.
-
Thought that was going to be an own goal.
-
Turned into a scrappy game and we've become a bit sloppy now.
-
This second team looking a bit lost atm.
-
Luna likes to get forward, doesn't he?
Like a Spanish train driver.
Inappropriate in light of so many dead in that crash.
-
First corner for Villa.
-
Crewe's fans getting Benteke's signature haha
More than Levy managed.
Definitely pinching that for Facebook.
-
Fucking AVTV won't work even though I pay 40 notes a year for the yoke.
Can anyone post the line-ups we've fielded tonight? Thanks.
-
Delph and Donacien have looked decent.
-
Delph looking like the best player out there right now.

Villa line-up v Crewe: Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Bacuna, El Ahmadi, Agbonlahor, Luna, Westwood, Benteke, Weimann.
Villa line-up v Crewe (After 60 mins): Steer, Donacien, Baker, Bacuna, Helenius, Delph, Sylla, Robinson, Herd, Gardner, Carruthers.
-
Twat, 5-1.
-
Corker from Bacuna
-
A Bacuna bullet.
-
What a beauty from Bacuna - left foot into top corner
-
Smaaaaaaaaaaaash
-
Class strike from Bacuna 5-1
-
BACUNA !!!!
-
Very good feeling about that young man this coming season. Bacuna I mean.
-
Top corner styley from the RB in this half.
-
Would be nice if this was the guy to give us some goals from midfield.
-
Where's Bacuna playing today? at Full back, centre mid, or out wide?
-
Decent turnout for a Friday night friendly.

-
Where's Bacuna playing today? at Full back, centre mid, or out wide?
Yep, all of those. From right back when he scored, following the subs of all 10 other players at 60 mins.
-
Thanks all. He seems like a very useful, versatile squad player, similarly to Chris Herd.
-
Not a bad little workout.
-
Full time 5-1 best goals Weimann and Bacuna. Good first half display more even in the second though.
-
Fucking AVTV won't work even though I pay 40 notes a year for the yoke.

Ta. Is working now, just very slowly. Think it's my laptop. I always get those "Shockwave has crashed" messages even though I tick the right boxes in Chrome tools.
-
Enough of the fitness sessions. The team is taking shape. I think its agood idea to haveDelph in the 'second' team. We want him playing like he did in the last couple of months. We have a season of that and he'll be in Brazil. But you don't wanthim to start slowly as he has very few brownie points with the fansthat would mean we would be patient with him. So, start him in the half-hour team andmake him produce thatform of last year to get into the starting 11.
-
Well I think that first 35 minutes confirmed that we're going to win the league. The other 19 clubs may as well give up now.
-
well I definitely think that these matches have shown that Gardner, Carruthers, Burke, Robinson and, after tonight, Donacien need to go out on loan for the season to see how they perform. Don't think they are up to first team standard at the minute and keeping them at VP playing reserve and under 21 games won't help their development.
-
Whenever there is a link to highlights could somebody post it? Thanks.
-
Seeing as nearly everyone had a run out today, what's the chances of me getting to see "The Bomb Squad" in action at Newport on Sunday ?
-

None. They're the bomb squad. It'll be mostly kids.
-
Well done Villa, nice to hear the reports for a change.
-
Just seen the goals on SSN. I just can not see us drawing or dare I say losing any games this season.
-
I wonder what odds you could get on us going the full 38 game season and not drawing 0-0?
-
I wonder what odds you could get on us going the full 38 game season and not drawing 0-0?
I'd settle for two 0-0 games to start the season
-
How did Donciean do tonight, was impressed with him at Luton?
-

I'd agree on all them except Gardner. I don't think he's stood out by any means but we need 3 CM's to cover our first choice 3, so he'd be one of those to cover. With injuries, resting etc, we'll need him. Maybe put him out for the first month or two, but not more than that.
Carruthers may be close to the first team squad. He does need a bit of an attitude adjustment. He reminds me of Craig Bellamy.
-
How did Donciean do tonight, was impressed with him at Luton?
As a defender, I thought that he was the most commanding of the lot, especially in the air. He certainly staked a claim tonight.
-

Agreed, I dont know whether to be happy or terrified.

Very reminiscent of a young Ugo Ehiogu. Tall, leggy but has some pace once up to stride, good in the air and strong in the tackle.
He impressed me at right back the other day too. A season too early perhaps but he's impressive, and if comparing to Ugo, he's roughly the age Ugochuku must have been when he made his debut.

I would be a tad worried if Gardner came in as cover, he needs to go out on loan for at least a season to find his feet.
-
Enjoyable game tonight , we looked pretty decent

I think this is where it's a shame about his injuries, because he should have had a season out on loan 1-2 years ago. I think it might be what'll mean he never achieves what people hoped he would when he was just making waves in the youths 3-4 years ago.
This is probably his sink or swim season. Putting him on loan would be too little too late IMO. Unless we sign 1 more midfielder we do need him to make up the numbers.
-
How did Donciean do tonight, was impressed with him at Luton?
As a defender, I thought that he was the most commanding of the lot, especially in the air. He certainly staked a claim tonight.
Cheers for the comments, I think he was the best defender the other night though in all honesty that wasnt saying much. Got very good pace and seems to have the right attitude.
-
Don't forget that we don't have a game for 3 weeks and 5 midfielders really should be enough for the first few weeks. So it wouldn't do any harm sending him out on loan for a couple of months.

Good point sir. In all the excitement of getting into a new season I'd forgotten about the pointless early season International bollards. A couple of months at a good championship club would do him good.
I've been impressed with Johnson as well. Sad not to see him today. I hope he gets out on loan too.

Goals frrom Crewe game

It would be interesting to see Donacien against better opposition. On the evidence of the last two friendlies he has outshone his more experienced colleagues.
Steer looks good enough to be second goalkeeper. He doesn't seem to be that tall by goalkeeping standards but that doesn't seem to stop him coming off his line and mixing it.
Luna looks a better bet at LB than Bennett. I like the way he was given offside on the right hand side of Crewe's penalty are at one point. Our defenders do need to be good - and pacey - the way we play. It's very easy for opposing teams to work a player free on our flanks. I hope Luna startr the season in the team and Okore hits the ground running.
-
Seems a good run out for us well done lads.
-
Looked good other than the corner we conceded from. Benteke will match last year, I truly believe he is a top striker.
-
Steve Rose, good to hear the comments re Donacien, he does look a good prospect. Liked the way Luna was bombing down the flank on Tuesday, though we have to make sure that we keep it a bit tight at the back as well. The other night we only had one holding midfielder, firstly Gardner and then Westwood, fear we will be picked off against good teams playing like this if full backs are too far forward

Just got back, support was first class as always.

Alongside Westwood? Delph was by far the bes tplayer on Tuesday and seemingly did well again tonight, where is he going to fit in ?
-
The Bacuna goal is excellent. Very little space and almost no back lift in his shot. Very Dalian like finish. We can certainly score all types of goals. It's appearing as though it is going to be another season of outstanding goals.
-
I hope Bacuna can score some goals from midfield, he seems to have a good engine getting up and down the pitch. Think Luna will score from left back as well, my worry is how many we will concede, but love the way Lambert is setting up the team to play good football
-
Pre-season results aren't important but... It's always nice to win a few.
-
Matt C, I know what you mean, but we didnt win a game pre-season 80-81 and won the league. The guys from the sty won he biggest trophy I have ever seen in pre-season 78-79 (I think) and then got relegated having not won a game for ages. It is all about fitness, especially early on
-

I disagree after yesterdays display confidence and moral will be high.
-
Goldie.7, do you agree that the players have been worked hard pre season and initially they will be lethargic in games? Heard someone on radio saying this and tend to agree. Villa played some superb football at Luton, but they never took control as you would expect. I just want the players to be ready for Arsenal, Tonev and Okore will be ready for Shamrock game hopefully and that is good news

I thought we were rubbish at Luton tbh. As the fitness picks up and the better players come back we'll hopefully continue where we left off yesterday. Málaga will be our toughest pre season test so far. Fingers crossed we put in a good performance taking us into the 7 day thriller.

Luna looks a better bet at LB than Bennett. I like the way he was given offside on the right hand side of Crewe's penalty are at one point.
Why?
why what Eamonn? Luna looking a better full back or getting caught offside?
-
I assume that he means "why is getting caught offside evidence that he is a better full-back than Bennett?".
It's not as if Bennett didn't spend lots of his time attacking last season - it's just that his defending was a bit dodgy a lot of the time. I'm not sure we've seen enough of Luna to know how his defending is going to compare. I expect that it's easier to look comfortable against Crewe and Paderborn than it will be in the first two games of the season.
-
ah. It's a bit misleading the way it was written. I thought he looked a better full back than Bennett adn liked the way he still managed to get offside in such an unlikely position.
Defensively he seems to have better positional sense than Bennett. We do get exposed on the flanks at times, he seems better equipped to cope with that.
-
Not to mention a lot of Bennett's problems last season came from him being physically smaller and weaker than a lot of his opponents.
Tony Moon isn't a big dude by any means but I think he'll cope with the physicality of the game better.
-
BBC Aston Villa page shows our last game as Luton. Naturally, their Man United page is right up-to-date.
-
To be honest as things stand I'd have Luna over Bennett. He looks more imposing. I don't think he's as quick as Bennett but he's slightly more comfortable on the ball and obviously stronger. I've been impressed thus far. It'll be a good battle between those two next season.
-
Enjoyed last night a lot. Weimann looked very sharp, Westie hardly gave the ball away and Benteke did what he does. Quite liked what I saw of Bacuna. It might take him a while to get fully into the swing of the Premier though.

Thanks for that.
That defending at the corner was poor.

I'm beginning to notice a pattern here. This is the second game I've missed now (no internet connection on a nightout) that we've won convincingly...

Sending huge EMP burst to Legion's house.

Ugo had the advantage of playing alongside God in his early days which must have been a good education!

Donciean can play alongside Okore, very young pair but what a prospect.

Agreed. Bacuna looks as though he is taking things steady and settling in. As his goal showed, he's got a bit extra and that will come through more with confidence and game time. Thought Donacien looked really good, as he did on Tuesday and Luna looks like he could be a bit of a stonewall defender.
Bit worried about Gardner and Carruthers - thought both were poor and gave possession away far too easily without creating much. Nice to see Gabby back and Helenius.
Interesting cameo by Baker on the left wing for most of his 30 minutes!
And that Benteke bloke!!!
Great to be among the Villa faithful at Gresty Rd enjoying an away win!
UTV!

It looks as though he wants out.

Only just seen the highlights. Some bloody nice goals! Bacuna looks good as well.

He's looked very competent in all of the games SH. He looks to have a good motor on him too. I think he will be a very pleasant surprise.

I've just bought you a one-way ticket to Ulan Bator. ;) Do you want it by mail or Fedex?
Oh and if it's any consolation I flew back to UK for a weekend in London and the Sunderland game. Due to work I had to fly back early on the Sunday. At least my colleagues in the bank were treated to the sight of me bouncing round the office as I followed the game on the BBC. To be fair to them they're a lot of them are Zimbabwean (mainly Chelsea) or Kenyan (mainly Man U) but they're always chuffed to see the Villa doing well. Maybe because I've been to their grounds more than they have and they saw how despondent I was during the Bradford games.
-
Was Benteke his normal self? He didn't seem to celebrate his goals much.
-

I noticed that, also he did not seem to be congratulated much by team mates much either - still he could have gone completely over the top and kissed the badge which would have made me more angrier
-
Was Benteke his normal self? He didn't seem to celebrate his goals much.
I think you perhaps over analysing, looking for things that aren't there. It was a friendly at a league one side, I don't think anyone is likely to swallow diving into the crowd.
-
Andi's goal was celebrated, then CB's first was celebrated a bit less, after that I think that were realising that it was virtually a stroll in the park so couldn't be bothered celebrating. Am sure it will be different on 17/8.

After all CB goals , he just wiped away the flesh from his mouth with his shirt after he had just eaten the defender.
