If they stop playing Hell's Bells before matches, I'm asking for a refund on my ST.
-
TFAUSM please.
-
Escape or Hells Bells will do for me.
Theme from an Unmade Silent Movie always sounds like the theme Thomas the Tank Engine to me. It was way before my time though so I suppose I don't have the nostalgia factor.
-
Theme from an Unmade Silent Movie followed by some Black Sabbath, preferably "Children of the Grave", as it has an ace intro.
-
TFAUSM please.
this

TFAUSM please.
Another vote for this.
-
This please.

Voting for the Everton game is now live. (http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~2887198,00.html)
-
We need to have players come out one by one with their names called, its so much better and gets the crowd pumping. Showing that we are the home team and this is our backyard.
The right music needs to go with too, something like this although it doesn't have to be this song but something similar which fits the player entrance.
-
We could have this for N'Zog.
-
Forget what was said just seen link... Hells Bells would be good for entrance music but Crazy Train would be better.

Just voted - Paranoid and proposed Children of the Grave
-
We need to use something that will get everyone pumped. Maybe a bit of Enya?
Or something like this, where you can easily switch words, so instead of thunder during the intro it would be Villa
-
Like it PWS, like it!
(Not the Enya bit obviously!)
-
Good idea. Thunderstruck would be a great choice for entrance music.
-
What a fantastic idea. I'm voting for some awesome rock or metal every time. The more Sabbath and ACDC we get in Villa Park the better.
Was going to put forward Thunderstruck, but decided to suggest this instead
Cochise is balls to the wall and full of energy. Be nice to see a little bit of modern stuff mixed in with the classics over the season.
-
If AM was still manager we could have gone for Metallica's One as that was how many goals we hoped to score a match.
-
Voted - The theme from an unmade silent movie.... CLASSIC
-
I'd prefer Theme to be the song before the entrance one. It's a great tune for us oldies, but hardly rousing.

Good man.

Leader of the Gang - Gary Glitter
-
Voted for Escape
-
Leader of the Gang - Gary Glitter
Never, Ever!!!
-
Voted for Paranoid but sggested Iron Man
-
TFAUSM followed by Escape.
-
I wouldnt mind Ride of the Valkyries, preferably blasting out of loudspeakers mounted on helicoptor gunships as they circle above the pitch. That would get everybody on their toes.
But as the health and safety mob would complain, I will vote TFAUSM as well.
-
Voted for Paranoid but sggested Iron Man
Me too. Was tempted to ask for the 20+ minute version of Dark Star from Live Dead, but changed my mind at the last minute (or 20).
-
TFAUSM followed by Symptom Of The Universe as the teams come out, blimey I'd enjoy that!
-
I've voted for Spencer Davis Group, Keep On Running, noting the strong Birmingham connection of Steve Winwood.
I've recommended this:-

Only if Birmingham extends to Swansea (Spencer Davis) and Redcar (Pete York)!

If Manchester can have all the bands they claim....
-
Voted for Theme from an Unmade Silent Movie but proposed Running Free by Iron Maiden.
-
Is it true Blues will be running out to YMCA?
-
TFAUSM should be played before the players entrance song. Whichever song they choose it needs to be one to get the crowd going so another suggestion for Thunderstruck from me.
-

I voted for Keep on Running also and suggested it at the SCG. Steve Winwood supports Cheltenham Town, according to Paul Faulkner. I doubt they would complain.
Also voted for Hold Tight as it is the precursor to many football chants and has a great beat.
-
Any takers for Breath by Prodigy? Although nostalgia dictates that TFAUSM will be popular choice is sounds a a tad pedestrian and lumpy to me now- hardly striking fear into the opposistion and raising the tempo within Villa Park.

I doubt any Premier League player would be frightened by some wannabe devil worshipper with tight trousers and a bad perm.
-
How about this
-
Personally I think it makes perfect sense to just have Sabbath every game. Supernaut if I had my way but I'll be voting anything Sabbath.
-

This for me
-
I suppose it would have to be something like Black Sabbath, owing to the fact that Brum hasn't produced a single band of note in the last 25 years. ;)
-
I vote we play TFAUSM just before they come on and then allow the crowd to take over.
Remember the days when the build up to kick off was filled with the Holte serenading the players one by one and expecting a clap?
We shouldn't need to artificially create an atmosphere.
-

Nor has any other city.
-
Ok, maybe Aberdeen (Washington, not Scotland).
-
Sabbath for me as it's the only half decent track, suggested 'Black Sabbath' hopefully the opposition would shit themselves. I really don't get TFAUSM? I find it drab, depressing and feel like we should all be covered in soot wearing flat caps.
-
Radiohead - Paranoid Android.
-
To be honest I don't like any. In the catalogue of music history there are a lot more rousing, motivational anthems out there.
My own picks were edging slightly towards the champions league intro....I plumped for "Duel of the Fates" from The Phantom Menace by John Williams and "Bulgers Dream" which was the 84 Los Angeles Olympic music also by John Williams.

Precisely this.
-
Ok, maybe Aberdeen (Washington, not Scotland).
Glasgow has produced lots.
-
There's got to be a HMHB track that's suitable.
The intro music should also link with videos on the big screen(s)
-
TFUSM into Symptom Of The Universe by Sabbath.
Whatever it is, it must have a link to Villa or some sort of historical link at least.
-
Nigel Kenndy, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Roger Taylor (The Duran Duran one) to record a version of "Ghost Riders/Holte Enders in the Sky"... If the buggers want paying, then use The Ramrods' version.
Nod 'arf, pop-pickers.
TFUSM has good historical roots, but it's a moronic song!
-
Not against any of the suggestions really but if Blur why not 'Entertain me' rather than Parklife.. If i had a favourite i suppose it would be Sabbath whilst on a Sabbath theme perhaps we could vote for Small Heath to run out to ' Fairies where Boots'!!!
-
I have suggested death or glory by the clash. I know it has a swear in the song but travel over mountains bit leading up to the chorus would be sensational as the boys run out.
-
Children of the Revolution - T Rex
-
park life is far too cockney.
-
There's got to be a HMHB track that's suitable.
God Gave Us Life...
But he also gave us TSM
And he also gave us Jack Woodhall
And he also gave us General Krulak
And he also gave us Stewart Downing
And he also gave us Billy McNeill
And he also gave us Dave Chance
...
Have a banana
-
park life is far too cockney.
Totally! Where the heck did they get that from?
I'm warming to a selection of Sabbath over the season though, that would be skill.
-
-
Perfect, given the club's longstanding links to Boston.
-
Perfect, given the club's longstanding links to Boston.
Makes as much sense as "Park Life"
-
Given the shiteness of most of the suggestions I'm going to market some claret and blue ear plugs for the new season.
-
Paranoid is the only decent suggestion.
-
I like that link as I'm on the picture, I think It should be napalm death, Suffer the children, Oh wait that was last year.
Hells bell's for me
-
I love Sabbath but most people don't - especially the "youth". I took one of my nephews to his first concert (Green Day) and they did a couple of Sabbath songs since they were in Birmingham and my nephew was what the hells that? I love metal but its not most peoples cup of tea and Sabbath isnt exactly upbeat. They used the ACDC one to shoe horn in something around bells even though it was quite a downbeat song (ACDC wrote that song as a funeral dirge for their lead singer who died and the bells at the start were funeral bells).
Something upbeat gets my vote - Arcade Fire Wake Up does the job.
-
Perfect, given the club's longstanding links to Boston.
Makes as much sense as "Park Life"
I'd agree on that.
-
TFAUSM for me to. It's nostalgic, unique and bloody great. It always reminds me of Tony Butler.
I've no idea where they got Parklife from. That's just mad.
-
Voted for TFAUSM because I'm an old git. I'd love them to give 'Ghost Riders In The Sky' by The Ramrods a try. Just imagine the Holte End singing along to that.
-
It only means anything to us old gits, it's hardly the most rousing music ever. As I said earlier, i'd have it as the last song before the players come out, and then have something else as they come out.
-
How about we nick this off Rangers afterall they are pretty insignificant now
-
I would like the club to some uplifting tunes from 2.45 til we come out and get the fans pumped up instead of putting on interviews on the big screen that noone can hear and make sense of
-
I think we should have a U2 song. If only to send this forum into meltdown.
I vote for TFAUSM
-
Perfect, given the club's longstanding links to Boston.
Makes as much sense as "Park Life"
I'd agree on that.
It was actually a serious suggestion but I forgot to say that, if used at Villa Park, the song should be cut at 45 secs. That's more than enough time.
Another idea would be to use a longer compilation of tracks in the way that they do for Ice Hockey entrances
-
Problem sorted !!
-
We could have this as an ode to John Burridge.
-
-
Got to be TFAUSM, the ultimate Villa song in my opinion.
-
Got to be TFAUSM, the ultimate Villa song in my opinion.
Agree.
It's a real rousing song and the thumping chorus will get Villa Park rocking!
-
Welcome to the jungle - guns and roses .great entrance
-
I've voted for Paranoid. I did have reservations, thinking the lyrics and so on might not be suitable, but, having listened to it just now on Youtube (and imagining a full and rocking Villa Park feeding off the whole vibe/energy) I actually reckon it would put the fear of God into the opposition. It's crazy...but it just might work. The fact that it's got so many connections to Aston and the football club makes it all even sweeter.
-
I suggested Kashmir by Led Zeppelin - ok Plant's a Wolves fan but it has the drama.
-
Catchy.
-
I would have Elbow - One day like this or The Jam - Going Underground (only because it reminds me of The Springbok last game 92/93)
TFAUSM is my ringtone, but hardly the most inspiring, atmosphere building tune for the crowd. That and most 'kids' under thirty will think wtf is this. Try to explain why it's used and they will say who is Tony fecking Butler!
-
Went for hells bells but how about Zeppelin's in the evening for night games?
Parklife, going underground too Londony for me
Or for something really loud what about Bring me to life - Evanescence
-
Not sure it's good for the players to come out to but funniest thing I've seen in ages.
-
Voted 'Hells Bells'.
Requested this below. The quiet reverse cymbol leads into Randy Rhodes opening riff and our Villa connection on vocals. CRACKING INTRO!
-
In a Persian Market by Albert Ketelbey. You may not have heard of him or his tune but you have heard it. He was from Lozells and the tune has been done in a style to suit everyone - light classical to jazz to ska to thrash.

Serge Gainsbourg - "My lady heroine"
No that's not a suggestion, its the part I recognise of the song at about 1:15.
-
Paranoid well in the lead according to the OS.
-
Did I miss some thing, what happened to "Hi Ho Silver Linning" or am I showing my age ?
-
I think Wol-ver-hamp-er-tun nicked it.
-
Remember the cover we did, 'Hi Ho Aston Villa', that we used to come out to?
-
Exactly, in the 70,s there used to be a very expicit Villa version, that for the sake of political correctness I shall not repeat.
-
That would be the 'everywhere we go there's aggro' would it?
-
I dont know about the entrance music but I think its more about getting 3 or 4 songs going from 10 minutes before kick off, repeating them for 5 or 6 games so they become associated as part of the countdown to kick off - a mixture of traditional TFAUSM etc, songs people know the words to Radio GaGa / Simply the Best etc.
Its sad that the atmosphere is so dead and needs to be manufactured, long gone are the days of going through six or 7 players songs whilst the coin toss is sorted
-
That would be the 'everywhere we go there's aggro' would it?
I see your toe-caps shining
and the razor in your crombie lining
-
That is the one, we had sheepskins not Crombies !
-
I proposed 'The sun never sets on Aston Villa by the mighty Spizzenergi.
I suggest we all do. Excuse the capitals.....
YOU MADE THE SUN SHINE BRIGHTER
YOU MADE THE BLUES GO AWAY
WE'VE GOTTA BELIEVE
WE'RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE
WOH-OH ASTON VILLA
GRA-VER-LEY HILL RIVIERA
HOLTE ENDERS LIVE FOREVER
THE SUN NEVER SETS ON ASTON VILLA
IN EVERY TOWN TONIGHT
THERE IS A WONDERFUL SIGHT
A BELIEVER LIKE ME AND YOU
WEARING THE CLARET AND BLUE
WO-OH ASTON VILLA
GRA-VER-LEY HILL RIVIERA
HOLTE ENDERS LIVE FOREVER
THE SUN NEVER SETS ON ASTON VILLA
I REMEMBER A EURO NIGHT
WE FELL ON OUR KNEES AND CRIED
THE GREATEST CLUB CUP IN SIGHT
FOR US THE NIGHT THAT NEVER DIES
WO-OH ASTON VILLA
GRA-VER-LEY HILL RIVIERA
HOLTE ENDERS LIVE FOREVER
THE SUN NEVER SETS ON ASTON VILLA

So what was played?
-
So what was played?
Paranoid and it did'nt seem to work somehow.
-
I reckon we should go for "Either Way" by The Twang. The talking bits at the start are in a dead strong Brummie accent, it's got nice jangly guitars, is quite cheery, and the lead singer is a Villa fan.
-
So what was played?
Paranoid and it did'nt seem to work somehow.
Preceded by TFAUSM. I couldn't get 'Tony Butler...BRMB...Sport' out of my head!
-
So what was played?
Paranoid and it did'nt seem to work somehow.
The volume was way to low and the sound quality was terrible. It sounded like they were using an old 7" single.
-
I suggest "Things can only get better" when we play Swansea.
-
I suggest "Things can only get better" when we play Swansea.
From our current position - "The only way is Up"
-
Apologies for bumping this back up.
What was that nice tune that was played before and after the game on Saturday? It was an acoustic type thing with whistling thrown in, it was quite pleasant in a pleasant kind of way.

Hey aston villa by Ricky disoni was quite catchy , never been able to find a copy of it though.

bound for glory by rose tattoo (aussie band and a great song) or somebody help me by spencer davis try the rose tattoo song on u tube brilliant

I'm glad someone else noticed this. I liked it too. I think it had Villa lyrics but managed not to sound indescribably naff. Impressive!
-
It's been played at a few home games now at low volume.
-
I've heard it played a few times. The original is a proper song but I can't remember what it's called. Think it was used in advert a while back.
-
As-ton Vil-la. Whistle.
Is this your final answer? Sadly, it is impossible to youtube on the basis that you just get hundreds of Aston Villa - final whistle" videos - which to be fair is quite entertaining in it's own way, but no use for pinning down this song.
-

I thought it was a proper song but when i heard the words Villa in it, i thought it could'nt be. Sounds like a Travis type number.

We Love the Villa We Doooooo wooooo.
Annoyingly catchy, but still no idea who sings it or what its based on?
-
That tune i was asking about the other day is up on the OS now. It's by some chap called Gary Nock and it's called 'Make Life Better'. The Villa version they play at the ground is called 'Oh to be a Villian'.
As Alan Partridge would say, 'Lovely Stuff'.
-
Slip Sliding away - I remember they used to play this in the very late 70s - maybe a very apt tune
Waterfront by Simple Minds!
-
- The original version - turns out it's the mars advert
- The Villa version - nice video!
Thank you Clampy. It isn't a pre-match anthem - that isn't what it's for (I am liking what we've got now as running out music tbf - perfect) , and listening to the Villa version properly, the chanting bit in particular is a bit cringey, but right after our 10 men had hung on pretty miserably on Saturday, something felt very right about this.

I like the acoustic version Gary performs in front of the Holte (I'd change the "North Stand" lyric to "Witton End", mind you.) An all round great effort and fair play to him.

Yeah, the Aston Villa chant did ruin it, they should have just left the whistling in.
-
I think the first line of the original fits us better too "Lately I've being seeing, things it takes a little faith to believe in" rather than "Lately I've starting singing, At the Villa we have faith we're believing". I don't mean that in a negative way, it's just like the lyrics are asking for faith rather than assuming it, and I feel quite responsive to that. It was that wistfulness when i couldn't hear it properly on Saturday which resonated with me.
Actually - theres quite a bit in the original lyrics I like from a Villa perspective.
-
Riders in the Sky!
-
Here here German, I'm amazed that's never a serious contender as at least it would get the Holte signing HEITS as the teams come out.
Pretty sure we came out to the Foo Fighters last Saturday, didn't really work for me. Think we should stick with Black Sabbath.
-
I'd still go for 'Escape'.
Really don't like the whistling song. Sorry.
-
Yeah Escape wasn't too bad either. Or Arcade Fire a while back.
Just don't bring back that Bells are Ringing remix. Awful!
-
What's happened to the vote? Don't recall it running for the last couple of games.
-
The Immigrant song - Led Zepplin - as loud as people ears can take it
