Well we're safe now barring a cataclysmic set of results. So I'm sure we'll end the season on a high with free-flowing, out-and-out attacking football and try to put a shed-load past the Canaries with our inspirational manager.
0-0 it is then.
-
Norwich 6 Villa 0. Cue much filling of shreddies as Bolton score their 10th in the 92nd minute.
Or maybe it will be a 1-1 draw.
-
18-0 to Norwich as we redefine how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
-
Norwich to romp home with a 6-0 drubbing whilst Bolton record a record victory over Stoke - 10-0, but we survive by just the one goal.
Seriously - I`ll go with a highly entertaining 3-3 or 4-4 with McLeish being supported by the board and owner for next season - thought turns my stomach.
-
Drab 0-0
-
Looking forward to this one now we're safe and the Saturday night in Great Yarmouth can be enjoyed a bit more without fretting about us going down.
I'd give Carruthers a start in place of N'Zogbia and maybe give Guzan a game before he possibly leaves us.
-
1-1
Holt and Ireland the scorers.

Watching the villa AND going out in Great Yarmouth? Abandon hope, all ye who enter here...!
-
As there is nothing to play for now I really hope he starts Carruthers and gives Gardner another start.
-
#McLeishOut
-
1-0 Win for us to end the season with a win with Herd scoring.
-
1-1
Dunne from a corner!
.. and a penalty to Norwich because of a Dunne lunge
-
A 4-1 win as Little and Graydon are not available.
"Aston Villa ! Canary Killa ! "
-
I'm leaving the country. Well almost, I'm going to Cornwall for the weekend. I suppose they get radio down there so I can tune in at 3:00 though?
-
He'll shit it at the thought of Bolton over turning the 17 goal defecit and cling onto a 0-0.
-
1-1.
Holt for them,Herd for us.
-
For the last time this season, draw ........ yawn!
-
I'd like to think we could play with a bit more freedom now and give a couple of the younger players a go. It would be good to see Clark at centre back and perhaps give Gardner a go. Is the Fonz our only fit forward?
Guzan - cuellar, dunne, Clark, lichaj - carruthers, Gardner, herd, warnock - Ireland - gabby / heskey / Fonz
-
2-2. Holt 12, Collins og 60. Ireland 17, Carruthers 87.
-
I'd like to think we could play with a bit more freedom now and give a couple of the younger players a go.
People have been saying that for most of the second half of the season.
-
7-1 and Lambert tells then he's leaving.Well I can dream.
-
1-1win
-
0-2. I can but hope.
-
1-1. Heskey to give us a parting gift.
-
Pressure off. Both teams on the beach so 2-2
-
We'll be going for a draw and thus bringing us a record of most draws in a 38 game season.
-
Seriously - I`ll go with a highly entertaining 3-3 or 4-4 with McLeish being supported by the board and owner for next season - thought turns my stomach.
I'd love to go along with a score like that, but we rarely create 3 or 4 chances.
I've a feeling AMcL will be given until Christmas. I think Randy owes him that after dealing him such a bum hand to start with.
I still feel that he deserves a crack at building his own team, not be using players who are past there use by date from other managers.
However, I think his position has become untenable.
-
With the pressure finally off I can see us winning this one
I'll go for 1-3 with Gabby, Heskey and Ireland scoring (if they're all fit)
-
There is no way that Eck will give the reserves a run when we could still miraculously let that goal difference slip.
And that sums up how he thinks that fear and not attack is the best form of defence. Glad we're safe, but even the way we did it was DULL: 0-0, 1-2, 0-0, 1-1...
-
Two all, and Chris Nicholl will get all four of them.
-
Wouldn't be surprised to see a high scoring affair. We'll be under no pressure so might be a bit less cagey and Norwich love to be positive. 2-2 or 3-2 either way.
-
The most nailed-on draw since yesterday, last Saturday...any truth in the rumour of us being sponsored by Littlewoods next season? Or was that this season?
-
If we score first a draw - If they score first we'll lose
-
If we score first a draw - If they score first we'll lose
Wouldn't be surprised to see a high scoring affair. We'll be under no pressure so might be a bit less cagey and Norwich love to be positive. 2-2 or 3-2 either way.
You're right - a high scoring affair, an 18-0 defeat
-
Despite the inevitable shit on the pitch, should be a good laugh in Yarmouth.
2-2
-
Norwich 0 Villa 7.
McLeish offered new ten-year contract on Monday.
-
think this will be pretty open with both sides not really being that bothered. 2-2
-
Norwich 7 Villa 0 McLeish offered new 10 year contract monday
-
I'm optimistic about this one. Norwich will finally get found out; only ManU have lost fewer away games than us this season.
Delia Smith drunkenly staggers onto the pitch, Heskey finally scores, 25,000 spectators traumatised.
0-0 (match abandoned)
-
Two all, and Chris Nicholl will get all four of them.
memories eh? I was at that game at Leicester
-
3-3 Robert Rosario to equalise on 89 minutes.
-
Kevin Keelan to save a penalty in added on time to rob us of ending the season on a high note
-
I selected ASTON VILLA win for the first time in ages. I think we can get 3 points at carrow road - im actually quite confident about that. I dont know why. Maybe im still drunk from the weekend
-
1-1, obviously. I think we'll score first, and then the whole team will retract and play inside our own half. Norwich will equalise, and then batter us for the last ten minutes. We'll get a point.
-
0-0 win.
This we see us having the same number of goals scored, and the same number of points that Birmingham went down with last season.
-
We are safe, I therefore don't care what the score is.
-
5-1 Villa win.
-
Draw written all over it.
Against the grain of our goalscoring record i'll say 2-2.
-
1-0, a crappy goal by John Polston all but ending our hopes of overhauling Newton Heath in the race for the title.
-
And Garry Parker hitting the post from 2 yards out?
-
Can't see it being competitive, but if it is it will be all Norwich, as they will want to give a big thank you to their fans at the end of their first season back in the top flight.
At least though we don't need a big screen at VP for nail biting fans to watch as per 1995.
-
now we are almost safe , a cracking night in Norwich Saturday night and then I will go with a 2-1 win to the Villa.
Gt Yarmouth is a dump.

0-0 victory
-
Draw. If we have enough fit players to make an 11.
-
I hope we play with a bit more flair but can't see us scoring without Bent, Weimann and possibly Gabby.
0-0.
-
0-0
Going out on a limb I know
-
how many tickets did villa sell for this one?
-
If we fail to win this one it will equal our all-time record of only 7 wins in a season (set in 1890 & 1891)....Thanks McLeish, oh sorry I forgot its not your fault, its the players.
-
1-0 Villa
Ray Graydon
-
I'm going for a win. It has to happen sometime. A Heskey hatrick that earns him a new four year deal.
-
its got to be another draw surely, cant remember what winning feels like! 1-1
-
With the threat of relegation gone I’m hoping some of the pressure has been lifted of the players, 2-1 to us.
-
I remember Stan Staunton getting a peach in a 1-1 draw to keep us up. In the end Palace lost to the Jawdees anyway. First rendition of we'll meet again with the Norwich lot going made about Rob Chase.
1-1 again.
-

They have to shoulder some of the blame, as does Randy.

McLeish has got to do at least one double over a team hasn't he ?
maybe not ....

JP, there is belief, faith and optimism ....
and then there's clutching at straws! ;)

We are safe, so I want to see the young lads have a chance.
Rest Dunne and Given for euros (they deserve it as they have been key last two games)
---------------Guzan
---Lichaj-Cuellar-Baker-Warnock
Carruthers-Gardner-Herd-N'Zogbia
-------Ireland
----------------Gabby
If Gabby isn't fit, I'd play Heskey, I would love him to score one more goal in Villa colours.

Last time i was in Gt Yarmouth was about 1992 and from memory it was ok. Besides it can't be any worse than Blackpool. Sounds like there's going to be a few Villa there so it should be good.
I think with the pressure off we'll win this 3-1, we'll stand around at the end wondering why we have'nt played that well all season, then hope that Randy has'nt fell for one good performance and keeps Mcleish on.
Or we could draw.

I would say 50% Randy 40% McLeish and 10% players. being as theirs nothing on this maybe he could at least let them play for once.
-
Can't see where we will get a goal from - going for a 2-0 defeat and a dismal end to a utterly depressing season.
-
Dwight kicking the ball into the crowd in the pre-match warm-up. Yokels throwing empty bottles across the river. 'Chase Out! Chase Out! Chase Out!'

I'm waiting for the now predictable Dunne joke.
-
My abiding memory of playing Norwich is back in 1975. We had both just been promoted back to the First Division and we lost 5-3 on a hot August afternoon. One hell of a game.
This time I'm going for a 2-2 win with Emile and Carlos saying goodbye with a goal apiece.

We are safe, I therefore don't care what the score is.
Even an 18-0 defeat?

Hard to predict as it matters little to either side - typical end of season nothing game. I don't think we'll win and Lambert may consider this a job interview and want to hammer us, but I went for a draw as that's pretty much what we do this season.
And I'll be cheering like a mad man if we score from a corner!!
-
Never been to Carrow Road before. Will we get wet?
-
as long as it's McLeish's last game, the score matters not!!!
sack McLeish my Lord
-
My memories of Carrow Road are of two defeats in the Big Ron days, one on Boxing Day and one in the run in to the first Premier League title race. I'm going 1-1 or one of those end of season jolly type three all draws.
-
Martin Atkinson is the referee.
Well, according the the Premier League on twitter so could be twaddle.
-
I remember Stan Staunton getting a peach in a 1-1 draw to keep us up.
I once got a coconut at Blackpool.
I got swung by the tits in Carlisle.
-

Straight red card for Given, who would miss the 1st 3 games of next season and see us foot of the table with no points by mid-September.

If we don't win, we will be only the second side (since Sky invented the game) to avoid the drop by winning less than 8 games. The only side at present to have done that was the Bitter Birds who won 6.
-
How about Derby a few seasons ago?
-
They were relegated.
-
DO'H! I've got tonight's big match on my mind. Go Bilbao!
-
I know that we like to think Villa are a traditional club but things have been taken too far this season.
All of the 7 league wins have been Saturday 3.00 p.m. kick offs. Therefore will have to settle for a draw at best on Sunday.
Another excuse the manager could use - blame Sky + ESPN
-
If we don't win, we will be only the second side (since Sky invented the game) to avoid the drop by winning less than 8 games. The only side at present to have done that was the Bitter Birds who won 6.
Christ. I've only just realised we only won 7 games all season.
Fucking hell.

It's been a blast hasn't it?!
The next couple of weeks, waiting to see if and when AM goes and who we will get in will be more exciting that the season we have had. That is so wrong.

And to think at one point, I had a straight choice: pay a deposit on my flat or buy a season ticket.

I had a dream last night,or was it a nightmare,this is going to be a draw. 8)
-
Spoke to a Norwich fan yesterday who was disappointed as they were looking forward to relegating us on Sunday (as we'd relegated them in 95? and they were after revenge). I think with no fit forwards 2-0 to them unfortunately
-
I can't remember the last time I cared so little about a villa game.
-
Same here Matt.
I do hope Carruthers gets a start though after some promising cameos recently.
-

That Norwich fan got it wrong we never sent them down they were already gone by the time we played them on the last day. A point was enough to keep us up but it was irrelevant as Palace lost at Newcastle.
-

Me too, looked the pick of the bunch in the ressies just now, apart from Bannan. If we we played Clark at centre back, and started Carruthers I'd increase my interest level
-
1-1. And we seize the outright record for most drawn matches in a season.
Championes, championes...
If we lose, we'll average a point a game...
-

Championes, championes...

Even "better" - if we lose and score one goal, it'll be played 38, scored 38, points 38. I reckon next year McLeish will aim for his perfect P38 W0 D38 L0 F0 A0 P38...
-
Not too bothered about the result. Just hope the travelling fans have a good old away day party.
-
Bannan quoted as saying Villa should relax and play thrilling football at Norwich. With Eck in charge, that presumably means the line-up will have less than the 8 defenders of last week...
-
2 1 to the Villa playing without pressure
-
1-0 Villa. Heskey with a volley from 30 yards.
-
.................which is heading for a throw in, until it hits their fullback and loops in over the keeper.

Hutton out ruptured Knee Ligaments
-
2 1 to the Villa playing without pressure
We always look like we are playing under pressure since this manager took charge unfortunately.
-
Not overly fussed tbh.
A win might help to paper over the obvious cracks and just provide those dullards in the Boardroom some pitiful evidence to keep things as they are and I never want to see us lose.
In that case we should finally kill off the season in the style that we've participated all year.
An uninspiring 1-1.
-
Another draw, but an entertaining one. 2-2.
I know, shocking.
-
Hutton out ruptured Knee Ligaments
Really? That's him out for nine months minimum, then. Potentially the whole of next season.

While i'm not one to wish injury upon anybody this will be a blessing in disguise..... Actually its not even in disguise, its just a blessing.
-
It'll mean an extra body needed whoever the manager is.
-
Norwich City v Aston Villa (Stats from SkySports)
Aston Villa have dropped more points from winning positions than any other team in the top flight this season (22).
Aston Villa have won just one of their last 15 Premier League games and none of the last nine.
Villa have won three, drawn four and lost none of their last seven games against Norwich.
The Canaries have gone 13 Premier League games without a clean sheet and conceded 14 goals in their last four matches.
Norwich have scored the joint-most headers in the top flight this season (15), while Villa have netted the fewest (3).
Villa have won just one of their 10 away games on the final day of a Premier League season (3-1 at Chelsea in 2002).
If Aston Villa fail to win then they will equal their all-time record of only 7 wins in a season (set in 12-team divisions in 1889-90 & 1890-91).
Norwich have the best cross completion rate in the Premier League this season (25%).
The Canaries have seen their woodwork struck 25 times this season, the most of all teams.
Villa are the only Premier League side yet to score from a corner situation this term
-
Do I recall a rumour on one of the threads that AM's contract required him to get 40pts. If that is the case, hope it's a draw.
-
Hutton out ruptured Knee Ligaments
Really? That's him out for nine months minimum, then. Potentially the whole of next season.
Ankle ligaments, will be out for eight weeks!

Don't talk to me about knee ligaments. Damaged mine at the emirates nearly 7 weeks ago. Knee's got more painful as the weeks have gone by. Hoping to see consultant next week.

Agree with the sentiment but not the result, I think we will play with gay abandon and lose 2 - 1
-
Norwich haven't kept a clean sheet for 13 games.
Still, if we play 7 defenders again (Herd, Clark and Warnock in midfield) I reckon that run might end, especially if Emile is up front!
-
Given-Cuellar-Collins-Dunne-Lichaj-Herd-Clark-Nzogbia-Ireland-Agbonlahor-Heskey
Subs: Guzan, Carruthers, Albrighton, Warnock, Bannan, Gardner, Delfouenso
Nobody else available? Eck loving 0-0, Warnock for Gabby.

Lets be more optimistic fellas, McLeish will only want us to finish the season just like how well we started the season...
0-0

A much belated call up for Compton Edwards and a thrilling 11-11 draw thus setting up yet another record for the club.

Barry Bannan has called for Villa to play with a licence to thrill against Norwich.
Bannan admits the pressure has been on Villa over the past few weeks, with relegation issues concerning everyone of claret and blue persuasion.
But he thinks Villa can now express themselves, with their top-flight status all but secured barring a mathematical miracle.
The diminutive midfield ace wants Villa to show their superlative skills and send the fans home happy for the summer holidays.
He said: "Hopefully the lack of pressure will help us against Norwich.
"If you look at the position we were in the last couple of games, there was a lot of pressure on the shoulders of the players and maybe they were playing a bit safer than they normally would or would have liked to have played.
"We're looking forward to the game now and with the pressure off knowing we can't go down I think you'll see that in our performance.
"I think there will be a lot more confidence out there on the pitch and hopefully that can lead to the victory.
"We'd love to do the double over Norwich this season. I was at the game earlier in the term at Villa Park and I can remember it well.
"We played great that day. I remember Gabby was on fire. Obviously we could do the double over them. That would be fantastic.
"It's the last game of the season and we can hopefully send the fans home and into their holidays happy."
Bannan knows that will be no easy task, given the way the Canaries have soared in the Barclays Premier League this term.
He added: "They've done very well. Obviously with the new teams coming up, you tend to think they're going to be struggling to stay up.
"But they've been safe for a while now. They've got a good manager. He's done very well since he's been there.
"He's brought through a lot of lower league players and they've established themselves pretty well in the Premier League so they've had a great season.
"I would say the pressure being off has helped them. There's a lot of pressure on us because we're a massive club.
"We're expected to be doing well every season in the top half at least. But with clubs that are coming up, newly promoted clubs, there's no real pressure on them.
"If they lose then the fans would probably expect that and if they win it's a bonus. So they're going out there just playing with no pressure and that can help in games sometimes."
-
2-1 Villa. Heskey to score the winner with the goal of the season.
I'm really looking forward to this, for the day out as much as the match. I think there's going to be a Villa invasion of Great Yarmouth today :)

What the f*ck is that chump talking about? I'd love to see the articles where he warned the press last summer how difficult the season was going to be.
So the Norwich squad must be another one which is stronger than ours. Despite most of the players only being good enough for the Championship until Lambert knocked them into shape. I suspect that he kept referring to the Norwich squad being together for a long time as a plea for him to be given at least another season here! No chance you twazzer.
-
I can`t make the game tomorrow so I will be unable to get behind the team and vent my spleen at McLeish.
How about, instead of telling him to **** off etc we be a bit more cryptic.
To the tune of "We`re winning way, We`re winning away , how *** must you be, we`re winning away"
We sing " We don`t deserve this, we don`t deserve this, we`re Aston Villa, we don`t deserve this" ;)
-
Hopefully we can use the old classic Cherio Cherio Cherio
-
1-1. Cuellar to say goodbye in style with his patented 5 yard pass out for a throw.
-
Its kicking off in Great Yarmouth tonight.
-
Even with a 16 hour headstart and no Norwich players on the pitch as we decided to KO in Great Yarmouth, it will still end 1-1.
-
Keep out the way but report back..
-
The predictable 1-1
-
It's McLeish so it'll be 1-1. I have spare tickets so check the travel/tickets board for details.
-
There's no need for us to play more than one of Warnock, Herd or Clark in midfield (never mind the dreary liklihood he'll play all fucking three). I'd like to see us be adventurous. If it means putting another kid in, like Carruthers, then so be it. Lets have some attackers in midfield. Get Bannan or Gardner in there too, or both. At least try to play for the fucking win. Lets at least try to break 40 points and also, if we finish above Wigan, it's a little bit extra cash.
Do I expect us to be adventurous? No.
-
What a great day. The last we see of AM and EH.
