Fulham have done enough for this season. Time for them to start helping out the clubs who take the best following to their ground.

1-1.

I'll go for this too. Fulham are very much one of the form teams but are never the same team away from home as they are home. We do need to play 5 in midfield mind you as they are strong in that department

I'll go 2-1 Villa, just can't see us keeping a clean sheet.
I've been saying all season that our midfield just doesn't seem strong enough so we tend to get over run.
I'd go for a midfield of Herd, Petrov, N'Zogbia, Gardner and either Ireland or Bannan.

We'll go 1-0 up early doors and then concede a late headed equaliser from a cross that we probably should have cleared...

We've got to win sooner or later, haven't we?

TBH that Dembele (sp) looked good in their midfield today, worth a Bid if we ever get the cash to buy some reinforcements. Dempsey looks great, making clever runs and working the keeper and they have a striker who doesn't need too many chances to hit the net. Could go either way.

When Jol landed Pogrebnyak I was quite surprised considering I was always thought he was a lot better than Fulham. He's proving he's worth every penny and Jol has then playing with a lot of confidence right now. We've got a decent record against them at Villa Park, and despite our troubles I expect us to bore them to a win. Right now, I'll accept the 1-0 win that I'm predicting. Gabby with the winner, created by Ireland.

1-3 defeat. Fulham are well organised and play decent football - Jol has done well on a limited budget, that new forward looks very good (why can't Villa unearth these players?) I'd much rather have Jol as our Manager - and to think he was available last summer.....then Randy appoints AM - well judged Randy!

Very surprised that the majority have been positive and have gone for a draw, you think were that good?

I think Fulham will beat us because they have a manager that works well with the players and has a good tactical mind, he was my choice when those iffy names started being banded about.

Dempsey and Pogrebnyak will murder us unless we start defending as a unit, Im sick of defenders and midfielders having loads of time on the ball against us, Robbie Keanne could see it why don't the rest of the team close down the opposition!

All we do too defend is drop deeper!

I agree, this will be surprisingly comfortable and our biggest win of the season.

4-1 Villa.

They’re brittle on the road and despite how the bossed the Wolves yesterday they’re still only midtable fare with all the inconsistencies and deficiencies that brings to a sides play.

Plus look at this way.

If the Villa were on a decent run having won three on the spin and heading to a side that hasn’t won at home in four months, you could guarantee that we’d be turned over.

We are making teams look like battlers and fighters the way we are playing at the moment, sitting back for large chunks of the game as we do. The fact that we drew with Wigan, who then subsequently lost 2-0 at home to 10 man Swansea says it all.

If we give Fulham that much time and space as we do most teams, we will no doubt have problems.

I hope we win, but we will have to be at full throttle for 90+ mins, and I still can't see us keeping a clean sheet even then.

I actually disagree on the danger of relegation thing. There are plenty of games left, yes, but look at the way our momentum is carrying us.

I also don't think he was told "just stay up and reduce the wage bill". The reason i think he's safe as houses is more to do with Randy really actually thinking he's a very good manager, and not wanting to fork out more money in compensation.

I actually think if we got relegated, he'd still keep his job.

Don't agree with your first statement simply because none of the teams below us look capable of putting a run together, and it does look like a blundering race to the bottom at the moment.

However, I sadly totally agree with the second statement.

Belated welcome to the site Rob 92.  Noticed your location of Farnborough and lived their myself for three or so years back in the early 70's when we were promoted from the 3rd Division.   Very happy days and in many ways, wish we had never moved back.

There certainly weren't any Villa fans in my school down there, so hope there are one or two more now?.  Mainly Chelsea from my memory, but then again we are talking about 40 yrs ago.

Seems a lot of people are predicting a draw and the fact that we already have 12, I was wondering what is the record for draws in a single premier league season?

Looking at the remaining fixtures I can see a few more draws between the end of the season.

Ahem,

Most draws in a season (38 games): 17, joint record:

Anyone who is looking at the fact that Fulham beat Wolves 5-0 last weekend and predicting meltdown because of that, but didn't see the match, should rest assured that Wolves were so piss poor, we too would have kept a clean sheet AND won by at least a three goal margin, even if we'd been playing them at home.

Yes it would be nice to get a win or two out of our next two fixtures but those fearing the following run of games are being very pessimistic. Do we really feel we can't get anymore points after these games? We face the likes of Stoke, Norwich, WBA and a stuttering Chelsea. If we can't scrape enough points then we deserve everything we get. McCeish won't be going anywhere.

Just have a feeling we might sneak this by the odd goal, nothing to support this theory and I know most of us think we may never win another game but think that will change this Saturday, also being obsessive plus the fact I am shitting myself I looked at the league table after 28 games last season and the bottom looked like this
18th Wolves 28pts
19th WhU     27pts
20th Wigan   26pts
So last years strugglers were quite a few points better off than the current clubs in the bottom 3 will be after this weekend, 39 points sent clubs down last season so on that basis I reckon the bottom 5 will get another 10-12 points tops so 34/35 should be more than enough, we are going to be fine.
Ps We were on 33pts after 28 games.

Agreed Paulie, I thought we were bad but Wolves were absolutely dreadful. I think they are in deep shit.

I think we will win 2-1 this weekend.

One of Ireland or Nzogbia will score our only goal.

Fulham will score for defo. 1-2. Late winner for Fulham.

Same starting line up as last week. If Charles N'Zogbia doesn't start I will lose my shit. And if Ireland's not out there you might as well listen on the radio because there isn't going to be much to see. For gods sake Villa, win.

Can we please conjure up some sort of 'Score a goal' song/chant, and not let off of it until the ball is in the bag?

Heart: 3-1  (N'Zogbia 22, 72  Ireland 53)
Head: 1-1

Artist Verity gives programme cover a marvellous makeover for Fulham
Artist and lifelong fan Sue Verity designs front cover.7th Mar 2012

By Paul Brown

Villa have commissioned artist and lifelong fan Sue Verity to produce the next matchday programme front cover - and she says she'll be in floods of tears when she sees the finished product at the Fulham game.

The Villa News & Record on Saturday is a stunning special edition, with the Acorns partnership very much in the spotlight.

The entire issue is dedicated to the club's link with the children's charity, with pages of content bringing to life the heart-warming affiliation.

Villa even elected to rework the cover, with the usual player image replaced with Sue's classy design.

It features an unnamed player holding an Acorn - encompassing the bond between club and charity.

Sue came up with the iconic image and brought it to life on canvas before passing it on to the design team in B6 to replicate for the £4 issue at the weekend.

Sue, a staunch claret and blue supporter, is relishing the moment she sees fans walking around Villa Park staring appreciatively at the bumper issue.

And she's also thrilled that her original canvas will be auctioned off in the coming weeks, with profits going to Acorns.

She said: "I am a lifelong Villa fan. I grew up following the likes of Brian Little, Paul McGrath and Shaun Teale. It is a real privilege to work with my club.

"I can't believe it really. I have to pinch myself. I am so proud.

"To see a picture of mine being used for the good of Villa and Acorns, it's the perfect combination.

"I shall probably burst into tears when I first see it on the front cover for the first time.

"That's how I usually react when I'm emotional.

"I think it's worked out well. I am happy with the painting and the programme cover. I can't believe I am going to walk around at the game and see people holding copies with my picture on the front.

"It's an honour but very surreal too. It will be an amazing day. I just hope everyone buys a programme and supports the charity more than anything."

Sue explained the significance of the personable picture.

She continued: "The player in the background is not a famous star, he's just the symbol of Aston Villa, the football club.

"The picture is just simply saying the club is supporting the charity wholeheartedly. It's very touching. That's the message of the picture.

"I hope the original painting is eventually signed by the players and as many staff as possible - the tea lady, the groundsman, the cleaner - anyone involved with the club. It's one big family.

"That's what I want to come across. Villa is not just about the football, it's about everybody connected. It will be great when that goes to auction."

Sue, who came into art later in her professional life after an initial career in hairdressing, insists charity work is very close to her heart.

Her mother Jill Woodward died of cancer in 1990 and, from that moment, Sue ensured her canvas career would help others less fortunate than herself.

Paintings of Liam Gallagher, Johnny Depp, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sir Roger Moore, Ian Brown and Keith Richards have raked in hundreds of pounds - with generous helpings going to charity.

She continued: "All of my work is charity-centric. That's very important to me. It's all down to my mum. She's my inspiration.

"Paintings like this one for Acorns are my way of remembering her.

"That's why I love working with charities who are doing things for others.

"Interestingly my first dabble with paintings professionally involved Acorns when I auctioned off a picture of Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant. All profits went to the worthwhile children's charity."

Her latest project is an exhibition of work for Birmingham-based charity Survive, a non-profit organisation raising awareness of cancer.

The 'Legends' event is on April 26 at the Sanctum Hotel in Soho.

Tickets - as well as a collection of her iconic paintings - are still available via Sue's website - www.sueverity.co.uk.

Reception at the Council House, open top bus, the lot.

£4? I know it's for charity and a very worthy one at that but maybe if they'd knocked the price down of it, more people would dig deep and buy a copy. Bunging on an extra quid will put people off which is a shame.

Well to be fair we were excellent first half, but then dire for the second.   I can see why he is going to go the same way, however if I had my wish I think I would like Gabby pushed wide left instead of Albrighton and young Weimann given a run up top.

I'm not a massive fan of Albrighton at the best of times, he lacks the out and out pace to be a top wide player for me and he is certainly not at his most effective on the left where McLeish stuck him last week, therefore I think Gabby will be a better bet  there.

Weimann's first and only touch I think last weekend, nearly resulted in a late winner.   The kid can score goals, no doubting that, let's chuck him in and see what he is made of.

Of course this isn't going to happen, so I've just wasted 2 mins typing it :-)

Another massive landmark game, as every game seems to be, as it happens the much noted drawn games, if it where to happen here would just about drag us 1pt closer to safety and probably we are getting to that place where we are safe bearing in mind how much crappier the sides are below us, and lets face it Fulham are no great shakes.

Glutton for punishment, me. I bought a ticket today, after my wife cancelled an 'orrible event she wanted me to go to.

I note that Lawrenson and his NBA rival on BBC predictions both go for 1-2. My previous games this season were Newcastle (1-1) and Swansea (0-2), which were so awful that I have been reluctant to go more often.

Oh and I also bought one for MON's return on April 21, when we can be confident that Villa will let him leave feeling utterly smug...

Irrelevant generally boring match pointers.

No win today would equal our worst ever run in the top flight without a home win - eight matches, set in 1921.
Fulham have not won at Villa in the league for 12 games dating back to March 1973.
Villa have been involved in more drawn games (235) than any other team in Premier League history.
Fulham are the Premier League lowest scorers in away games this season. (8 )
Only Wigan (11) have scored fewer league goals at home this season than Villa. (14 )

Obviously McLeish is happy with 0-0 as I saw him applauding as he went in at half time. We might have had a preponderance of play 66% and 11 shots to 2 but only 4 on target. This is going the way of recent matches, and I'm wondering what Villa team will emerge for the second half. If it's the one like last week, we'll lose I think. We need an early goal, time to take a chance with Weimann.
