0-3 away win
Bent 12
Keane 35
Warnock 55
-
1-1 Draw. My Geordie mate reckons that they'll hammer us like last time. I can't really see it being a great game so I'll predict a scrappy point.
-
4-2 Newcastle, them being 2 up after 10 minutes, us levelling it at half time through Bent and Keane then them hitting us late on the break twice.
-
It could be absolutely anything. I'll go with a 1-2 away win.
-
I've got a bad feeling about this,Ba is back for them, and their new signing Cisse may start,we leak goals like an incontinent man pisses his pants. 3-1 them.
-
I think we could score 3 but with our defence , they could score 4
-
1-0 Villa.
Warnock with a stunning 35 yard volley :-) Dreaming? Yes. But, God, I would love that!!
-
3-0 to Villa.
Dwight Yorke hat trick but with a clean sheet at the back. ;)
-
would like to see clarke play as left sided centre with warnock as left back
-
1-1. Ba 67, Warnock 79.
-
1-1. Ba 67, Warnock 79.
Shouldn't that therefore read 2-0? ;)
-
think bent will be up for that game as he will booed (played for sunderland)
nzoglia will as well because of when when joe kinner was there
and ireland as will want to show them what they missed last season
-
I think we can nick this one.
Be fucking colder than ever up there mind !
Barcodes 1 Villa 2
-
2-1 defeat. They are a decent side. Is Cabeye out?
Ba and Cisse will score, debut strikers like playing us.
-
2-1 win. They aren't anything special.
-
Can't see us keeping a clean sheet and they're a bit of a different proposition to qpr. be happy with a draw but realistically 2-1
-
Cisse ? I thought he move to QPR
-
With the absence of Cabeye I can see us comfortably controlling the center of the park. 3-1 the Villa
-
With the absence of Cabeye I can see us comfortably controlling the center of the park. 3-1 the Villa
When was the last time we comfortably controlled any midfield?
-
We did on Wednesday night. Keane dropping back in allows that control.
-
Given.
Hutton. Dunne. Clark. N'zogbia
Petrov. Gardner.
Ireland.
Keane. Gabby.
Bent.
-
Given.
Hutton. Dunne. Clark. N'zogbia
Petrov. Gardner.
Ireland.
Keane. Gabby.
Bent.
Love it, but Zog's gonna have to go some to volley the winner from there!
-
Another draw
-
Newcastle have been priced up at about even money to beat us and I think that's the most likely outcome
Them 2 Us 1
Bent continue his hot streak before two goals from set pieces ruin our weekend!
-
3-1 defeat
-
We'll sneak it 1 - 0!
-
2-1 to us with a 94th min pen
-
To think we're apparently light years away from ever challenging for a Champions League place ever again when this shower are a couple of points off 4th at the moment.
Outside of the top 3 we really should be a match for anyone. A bit of organisation, players working their bollocks off for the manager and shrewd moves in the transfer market is all it takes. Hmm...maybe that combination at the same time is too much to ask after all.
Typically, we'll win up there having fucked-up the piss-easy game of the week.
-
Given.
Hutton. Dunne. Clark. N'zogbia
Petrov. Gardner.
Ireland.
Keane. Gabby.
Bent.
Love it, but Zog's gonna have to go some to volley the winner from there!
Luckily its usually windy up there so that should help.
-
2-0 to them, got a bad feeling about this one!
-
With the absence of Cabeye I can see us comfortably controlling the center of the park. 3-1 the Villa
They didn't have him last time we still got a pasting!
The stats say we're due a loss 'None of the last nine Premier League meetings between Newcastle and Aston Villa have been away wins.'
'Alex McLeish has won none and lost three of his five matches as a Premier League coach against Newcastle United'.
3-1 to them.
-
Seeing as we need to score at least 3 to win,the best we can hope for is a high scoring draw. 2-2 is my prediction.
-
If ever a game's gonna end up 8-7, this could be it
-
1-2 Win Keane
Bent
-
1-1. Bent makes it 101, Gutherie for them.
-
2-2.
It's a "win-win" situation though, really - if we win or draw its a decent result, if we lose by anything up to 5-0 it's a step in the right direction compared to last year ;)
-
another draw 1-1
-
Don't see us getting beaten. Bit of competition now too, will Collins come back in? Gabby and Albrighton could be back in the frame.
Think we need to try Lichaj or Baker at left back.
Apart from that I'd keep the team the same as last time out. 3-1 to the Villa. Bent and Keane x2
-
Given
Lichaj
Cuellar
Dunne
Baker
Clark
Petrov
Ireland
Keane
N'Zogbia
Bent
-
It's gonna be snowy according to the forecast so.........P-P.
Seriously, if we can keep a grip on Ba then 1-1.
-
Is Ba definitely back from Africa?
-
Ba will be back and they have Cisse looking to make his debut. Despite Wednesday's impressive 2nd half display, I can't see us getting anything up there, not that they're that good, I just feel it will be a nothing match and they'll get lucky. 2-0 I'm afraid.
A quick look on their forums about Sunday and for some reason they really don't like us, it may have something to do with this:
-
2-0 To Newcastle.
-
With Demba Ba back to torment our defence I can't see us keeping a clean sheet (which we rarely do anyway) - think they'll win 2-1.

Love how its our fault the daft fuckers. Nothing to do with them being shit all season. They even scored the goal that sent them down.
-
3-1 Villa win. Bent x2 and Warnock with a screamer.
-
Love how its our fault the daft fuckers. Nothing to do with them being shit all season. They even scored the goal that sent them down.
Quite. One or two seem upset that we celebrated their relegation in a manner that they would only have expected from Sunderland. They just fail to realise that whilst we did so royally take the piss, nineteen other clubs would have done the same, such is their joke status as both a club and fans. When you realise the Rags have won more than them over the last 50 years, you know you should never take them seriously.
-
3-1 to them - depressing. We just can't defend.
-
If our midfielders and forwards can beat our defenders and the Newcastle team, then we will win. Or else it will be a three all draw, they score 3 in first half, sit back, then we come at them second half and a Keane, Bent and Ireland score to equalise.
-
I've a feeling N'Zogbia will be a big player for us in this game. He played well against QPR and the goal will have boosted his confidence, plus there's always the 'old player retruns' syndrome.
However, 2-2 is my prediction as we'll not keep a clean sheet.
-
We will continue our good away form and pay them back for the pasting we took up there.
3 - 1 Villa win, with Ireland getting two of them!
-
Our defence to play a blinder! 0-0.
-
1-0 To Newcastle.
In the 85th minute, Given clears under pressure, but hits Warnock flush in the back of the head, knocking him out cold, and the ball rebounds into the net despite Given's desperate attempts to recover.
-
Cant see anything other than a defeat.
If we get a point then I'll be delighted.
-
3-0 Villa win, Heskey to score all 3 and answer his critics in the best possible way.
-
4-2 to us.
-
I think there is a bigger story at Aston Villa than their results under their manager Alex McLeish.
The only players they signed in January were Robbie Keane on loan and a young full-back called Enda Stevens. It appears it is all about profit and loss and the balance sheet at Villa Park, with chairman Randy Lerner saying 'we cannot spend more than we earn, end of'.
Consequently, you look at Villa and you see a mid-table side. People say they are a big club, but they're not. They were a big club but they aren't anymore, just like you could say Liverpool are not as big as they were. Those are the facts.
As for the game, Newcastle will have Demba Ba and Papiss Demba Cisse back from the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be another boost for them.
Wednesday's win at Blackburn was a really important one for them. The Magpies didn't play well, and at times they were out-played but they still nicked an away win in the Premier League. I'm told that Fabricio Coloccini has been great as a captain, not just as a player, and they have got a great spirit in their squad. Well, they showed it at Ewood Park.
I thought Newcastle's form would drop off in the New Year but they have proved me wrong and done marvellously by winning four of their last six league games. I have to back them here.
Prediction: 2-0
The Gospel according to Lawro.A Villa win it is
-
1-0 to Newcastle, I think. They seem to have mastered the art of not conceding and nicking vital goals, and I can't see us keeping a clean sheet.
-
This will be one tough game. Yet, when we're away we can be at our best so they will be expecting a tough game too.
If we can get a good game from our backs and and can counter with effect, I think we can win, 2-1. Bent brace.
-
Tough game on Sunday but I think we will take home a point probably 1-1 with another goal from Darren Bent, I am hoping that Mcleish will give Baker or Lichaj a start at left back and give us all a break from the madness of Warnock.
-
2-1 defeat. Bent to score and Cisse to get two for them.
-
Bent.I cannot stand supertanned Pardew and i have less time for their uber fans.
Come On You
Lions!!!!
8)
-
3-1 Villa win. Bent x2 and Warnock with a screamer.
Hoping that Warnock can come back with added oomph and put one past the other goalkeeper! Come on, Stephen! Villa win. God knows how many. It doesn't matter, just the points, please!
-
Match off. Approaches to the ground deemed dangerous because of snow.
-
If we carry on from where we left off on Wednesday and we can stop the mistakes at the back maybe we will win this one by 2 goals with a clean sheet.
Keane and Bent.
-
Can't see anything other than a heavy defeat I'm afraid. I think our defence will be totally overwhelmed. Newcastle won't have to rely upon Warnock own goals.
-
Thankfully,i will not have the esteemed pleasue of knocking you pillar box out!
-
Match off. Approaches to the ground deemed dangerous because of snow.
Where did you hear that Nev? Nothing on any of the OS's.
-
I think it's a prediction.
No snow here and we're not too far from Newcastle.
-
team should be given, hutton, carlos, clarke, warnock, petrov, gardner, keane, charles, bent, ireland.
yes drop dunne and put clarke at centre back with gardner in midfeild with petrov
-
I really fancy us to score, we look dangerous - at least for spells - in most of our games at the moment, plus we're breaking with more quality.
If we could just bloody defend we wouldn't be a whole lot different from our MON days. But we're making so many mistakes.
Result? I reckon a Desmond.
-
I think it's a prediction.
No snow here and we're not too far from Newcastle.
Ah, good one, Mystic Nev.
-
The snow is coming saturday night, they have enough time to prepare, the game should go ahead, i would not want to be travelling by road
-
team should be given, hutton, carlos, clarke, warnock, petrov, gardner, keane, charles, bent, ireland.
yes drop dunne and put clarke at centre back with gardner in midfeild with petrov
Keep Warnock in ?
-

yes drop dunne and put clarke at centre back with gardner in midfeild with petrov
Think I'd rather see Dunne at centre half with Clark at left back than to give Warnock another game. Though supposedly Big 'Eck's been impressed with Lichaj in training; so I wouldn't be suprised to see him given a game.
-
Villa win, 2 v 1 for me.
-
I'm not gonna make a prediction but I reckon this could be a very exiting game. Remember when Villa met Newcastle and MON was charge with Allardyce for them? Well, this will be nothing like that. Bring it on I say! I'd give Nathan Baker a go at left back.
-
I'm just in from the pub and just had a great chat with a Spurs fan I never met before. He was about 58 or so and we had such a great chat. He really admires the villa. He said we have a beautiful name, a great tradition and have something nobody can ever take away from us, our European Cup. He fears Spurs could be in danger of falling back over the next few seasons and agreed with me that the PL era has been bad for great clubs like Villa.
I don't know why I am sharing this, but you know how it is after a few pints!
UTV!
-
Them 2 - 2 Us
Scorers: Ba Ba Blacksheep. Charles & Keane.
-
Tehy're without Cabaye and Tiote. Cisse and Ba may be out with jet-lag or something. This could be the right time to play them. I still see a 2-1 defeat.
-
Ba. This seasons Santa Cruz.
-
Ba. This seasons Santa Cruz.
Well, let's hope we get next season's Ba. One 20-goal league season from any of our strikers would be welcome. Am I correct in thinking that Angel was the last to do it?
-
No. Withe was the last to get twenty league goals.
-
Yeah, Angel got 23 or something in all competitions and 17 in the league, I think.
I believe Darren Bent will be the next to do it for us and is at least capable of it.
Who knows, it could be this season.
-
Villa to win 2-1 Bent to score the first goal, 40-1 at Ladbrokes
-
Villa to win 2-1 Bent to score the first goal, 40-1 at Ladbrokes
That's a fucking good bet to be fair. Might take the punt.
-
... and the weather ??
-
Them 3 Us 6
When it is rescheduled in March.
-

Exiting game? Who are you thinking may be for the exit. Warnock and Eck must be the favourites at pitch level. In the stands, let's hope it will not be Villa fans who braved freezing weather to see yet more soft goals conceded, leaving early to follow snow ploughs down the A1...
-
We have nowt to fear against Newcastle except our defence. All guns blazing is our best bet and if we do it we have the players to batter them. Also, it's about time we sorted them out for the humiliation last season.
-
Yeah, Angel got 23 or something in all competitions and 17 in the league, I think.
I believe Darren Bent will be the next to do it for us and is at least capable of it.

didn't Yorkie get 20 league goals one season??

Despite the Venom all thing spurs gets on here, they have a lot of very decent supporters, no where near as arogant as the ARse

Yorke got about 17 in the league the rest were in the cups.
-
Based on form and defensive fraility, it could well be 0 points from the next 2 matches, then it is Wigan & Blackburn & Fulham & Bolton. Those four games will really show whether anyone at the club cares about us or not.

Care to explain that last comment? - are your referring to the players' commitment or something more subtle? And who is the "us"?
-
Will the game go ahead? It's looking pretty grim here in Stirchley.

They are saying the snow will clear up there tonight, it will go ahead

NothIng new there then :)
I think Newcastle has dodged a lot of ths worst of the bad weather so it'll be bear guts on show as per usual I guess.
Still have a feeling we'll win - be a great weekend if we do what with you'd Baggies losing.
-
6-0 Newcastle with a Carroll hatrick. Oh hang on. Geordies 3-1. Would take a point but not confident.
-
is Gabby fit or what?
I hope to see a change at LB or RB tomorrow. Not because I wish bad on Hutton or Warnock, but because I feel its time for McLeish to finally put his foot down and show to the team that it needs to be better. Given the amount of players in the squad who seem to commit reckless tackles regularly, I hope with the snow tomorrow we can keep all 11 on the pitch.
I feel a lot of drama coming from this one, but I think we'll nick it.
-
is Gabby fit or what?
He's not my type but each to their own.
-
Think Bent will score, that's about it.
On at 4.30 am here, hoping to stay up, better be bloody worth it!!!!!
-
I think we'll be lucky to get a win, not that our current form is bad, just that theirs is good.
-
My prediction: Mark Lawrenson to be found with his wrists bound behind his back with coathanger wire, drowned in a bucket of runny pigshit
-
I think some of Wednesday's frustration will roll over into this game - they've been resting on their laurels for a few weeks, we'll take them apart limb by limb. Keano will cause an avalanche at the Gallowgate as he does his third somersault of the afternoon - 5-1 Villa.
-
Reckon we'll scrape a point. Obvious reasons- its gonna be a tough hard fought match and our away form being better than our home form, we might be able to hold on.
2-2 my prediction
-
Defeat. 2-1.
-
2-2 with Bent getting both for us.
-
My prediction: Mark Lawrenson to be found with his wrists bound behind his back with coathanger wire, drowned in a bucket of runny pigshit
Wearing a dodgy shirt ?
-
More defensive howlers for us. 3-1 to the topless body wobblers.
-
More defensive howlers for us. 3-1 to the topless body wobblers.
LOL. What a fine description of those barcoded northerners who follow the best-supported club in the world.
-
My prediction: Mark Lawrenson to be found with his wrists bound behind his back with coathanger wire, drowned in a bucket of runny pigshit
Oh yes, yes please.
I'd even gladly take a defeat to these unibrowed, feral imbeciles for such an outcome.

A tad harsh on the runny pigshit, but it will do.
-
3-1 to Villa
Hoping the Geordies think its a formality and we can put them away
-
I have just read that Villa haven't scored from a corner this season. I had heard this before, but to see it in print makes you think that the set piece chapter from our training manuel is being utilised as bog paper during this cost cutting period.
-
Yes we have. Richard Dunne.
-
Yes we have. Richard Dunne.
it may have not been included as it wasnt direct from the corner. Petrov and keane played a 1-2 didnt they? Pedantic if not...
-
Yes, it was a very well-worked corner routine.
-
is Gabby fit or what?
He's not my type but each to their own.
But you would though, wouldn't you?
-
Yes, it was a very well-worked corner routine.
agreed, Just saying. I dont know what we have been doing wrong but im glad changing it up bought a bit of fruition. I remember when we had Laursen and Mellberg at the back, I honestly thought we would score from every one, corners were cheered like we had won a penalty almost. Now i just get worried we will get hit on the break. Why are Dunne and Collins so bad at converting?
-
One thing I have to see, and that's the Geordie boys stripped to the waist in this weather, showing there glorious man boobs and 86inch waists.
Have to say it, Newcastle for all 3, we have been getting away with 45mins of decent football to save us of late, Newcastle will be a different proposition and we will have to put in a full shift to make any impact, hope I'm wrong, just can't see Villa are set up for this.
C'mon you Villa boys, even a point would do the trick.
-
We have lost our best corner takers. We no longer have the likes of Young, Downing, Milner, Barry etc as corner taking options. Petrov's corners are dreadful but we have very few options
-

Martin Laursen. How I wish he hadn't been forced to retire early :(

Albrighton, N'Zogbia, Ireland, Bannan, and while he's here, Keane should be taking them. I don't Stan should take another corner whilst he's at the club. He barely beats the first man.
-
Just read 'Lawro's' prediction - we aren't a big club apparently. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/lawros-predictions/
I wonder what fans of clubs like Halifax or Brighton make of that kind of bollox?
-
Just read 'Lawro's' prediction - we aren't a big club apparently. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/lawros-predictions/
I don't think he's ever made that point before, and I was under the impression that he considered us on a par with Barcelona and the 1970s Brazil team. This has come as a huge shock to me, as you can imagine.

Yes, truly flabbergasted. To clarify, I couldn't care less, it's just an odd thing to (repeatedly) say.

Hi..........It appeared on Facebook
-
I thnk Villa must have hurt Lawro at some point.
Maybe he reads us calling him a slouching, potbellied, BHS shirt wearing, bollocks-talking, cock dusting, camp gobshite.
I hope so anyway.
We'll always be the orginal big club even if we're not always a force on the field, fuckface. Deal with it.
Now, has anybody got any old wire coathangers and a vat of runny pigshit?
