Same team but Bent in for Albrighton
Petrov fit therefore
tweets Mat Kendrick
-
Come on you Villa boys.
-
I think that's the team I'd have picked, but it's not without risks of course. Is Petrov really fit? Can CNZ reproduce his recent form, on the right, where I presume he's playing? Can Bent offer us what we need from a lone front man?
Really looking fwd to this. We may need to be patient. Swansea sit deep and keep the ball well. Might well be 0-0 at half time.
-
Same team but Bent in for Albrighton
Sounds good.
Let Albrighton have a run at them in the second half.
-
Swansea: Vorm, Williams, Taylor, Caulker, Britton, Orlandi, Graham, Dyer, Routledge, Rangel, Augustein. Subs: Sinclair, Monk, Lita, Moore, Allen, Tremmel, Richards.
Villa: Guzan, Cuellar, Dunne, Collins, Warnock; Petrov, Clark, N’Zogbia, Ireland, Agbonlahor, Bent. Subs: Marshall, Hutton, Heskey, Bannan, Gardner, Weimann, Albrighton.
-
I'm happy with that team, if we are doing well I'd like to see Gardner get a chance.
-
Swansea seem to be resting half their first team.
Can't complain too much about that.
-
Looks a good line up, also glad Petrov's fit. I'm feeling very positive about this.
-
Very risky team selection, Swansea have rotated against spurs and again today.
I'm glad it's still attacking though and no Heskey.
This is our absolute strongest team, so come on lads!!!
Up the Villa.
-
Any links to the game?
-
Come on lads, lets carry it on from Saturday, get an early goal and put these to bed. UTV.
-
i'm stuck in the office, as we've got no Bank Hol here.... C'mon Villa!!!
-
I hope we stick to the same formation as last time around. They could put Ireland on the right and play 442, but I thought we had a really good shape against Chelsea and Arsenal. Plus Swansea will have 3 in central midfield.
-
Gabby will step into Albrighton's place I assume. The exact right move. Absolutely thrilled McLeish has stuck with the trio of Ireland, Stan and Clark. Clark is really allowing Petrov the room to shine, and Ireland was fantastic last time out.
-
I'm having trouble getting a link for this one.
Can anyone find a working one ?
-
Come on you babbies! (SVC quote ;) )
Make this a day worth watching!!
-
Doh! We play Holte End 1st half

Swans pressing us well on the ball..
-
The movement off the ball is already decent.
-
Thanks Andy.

-
I bet we win 5-0 as I am too ill to have gone.
And small heath behind after 35 seconds!
-
Come on Villa, same as Saturday.
-
0-1
Warnock give away
-
Maybe not :(
-
Well done Steve you fucking idiot.
-
I'll say it again, Warnock is a brainless idiot.
-
The real Warnock is back I see.
-
Seriously.
-
Guzan should have had it
-
idiot. absolute idiot.
-
A real howler. Xmas was last year!!
-
playing well
-
Bloody hell Warnock
-
Warnock you Dick.
-
delflected, sorry brad
-
fuck off warnock.. shit
-
ffs!
-
Oh well if we were going to concede at any point of the game...
-
least theres plenty of time
-
At least we have 84 mins to do something about it.
-
You fucking twat Warnock
-
Good work N'Zog.
-
Good response since. I have a feeling they will be hard to break down though.
-
They go very close again.
-
Well, we did go 1 down to Chelsea....
-
Well Warnock is having a shocker
-
Warnock giving me kittens
-
Warnock really is a liability, the problem with him, dunne and collins in the team is that you can near enough guarantee one easy chance given away for the other team every game.
-
To think he was knocking on Englands door.
-
We have four absolute liabilities for defenders. Warnock, Collins, Dune and Hutton
-
Ireland is drifting around well and finding space.
-
Petrov doing well too.
-
Come on Villa!
-
Right come on Villa recover from this set back.
-
At least we look a threat.
-
Ireland positive again. Zogbia done a superb cross. Petrov and Clark solid.
Yes its the defence that is bad. Look so shaky when in posession
-
We don't half make it difficult for ourselves. Still, the response has been encouraging. Need to get back on terms as quickly as possible.
-
Some people reckon our defence is good, but ffs how many unforced errors do they make? We seem to gift goals to our opponents eveyr game...
-
We're playing some shit football so far.
-
Ireland and Petrov looking good. Warnock looks incredibly fragile.
-
Gabby is being pressed on the right and given very little space. He's not as effective as when he's down the left.
-
Afternoon gents.
No real surprise with the goal, we looked half asleep. Hopefully now we will wake up and get focused.
N'Zogbia looking good, fancy he'll break him duck today.
-
Warnock has passed more to a white shirt than claret'n'blue :(
-
A decent link here if anyone's still looking for one
http://asialivestream.com/freefootball.php?channel=england2211
-
We're getting with relative ease to their area so I'm quite confident we'll score at least a couple in this one. The question is whther we can keep a clean sheet from now on. Doesn't look so promising at the moment. Whenever they attack, they almost score :-\
-
It looks horrible when we try and play it short in defence. They get closer to winning the ball after every Villa touch.
-
play the fucking advantage ref.
-
Them passing the ball around us is a bit embarrassing.
-
Brilliant Warnock!!! GET HIM OFF!
-
Warnock is poor, compared to his usual shit!
-
Shocking defence...Cuellar though standing his ground.
But Zogbia looks good
-
We are creating chances which is a positive however were are also allowing chances at the back.
-
Good from Ireland again.
-
Football is much better.
-
Technically that should have been a penalty.
-
NOT ENOUGH PULL!!! What the f... Holding Gabby's hand front of linesman and ref... Incredible
-
Quality crosses from Zoggy all the time!
-
Technically that should have been a penalty.
Perhaps, but there wasn't enough for Gabby to collapse the way he did. I'm not saying that excuses him not being given, but he should stay on his feet and try to play, not just give up and throw himself over.
-
Shame the Irish lad ain't on the bench.
-
We are trying to play and are creating stuff but need to give more to Bent.
-
Sure there was, he's trying to move away from a player who has two hands held onto his arm. I'd go down too, because what else can you do? You physically can't move away if someone has a grip in your arm.
-
Dyer is killing Warnock
-
Warnock is struggling badly.
-
Technically that should have been a penalty.
Perhaps, but there wasn't enough for Gabby to collapse the way he did. I'm not saying that excuses him not being given, but he should stay on his feet and try to play, not just give up and throw himself over.
Like the Arsenal bloke did? We saw in that match that if you try and play on you get sod all, make the most of it and you have a chance at the pen.
-
Warnock is comical Ali.. Just now he stood and watched the ball, not getting close and Dyer ran around him...Extremely poor
-
We do look like the away team again.
-
That Swansea chance was a direct consequence of knocking it long from a goalkick, and giving it away. If it's a good thing to pass out from the back, the deadball from the keeper should be no different.
-
You can see they've rattled Warnock and they'll be feeding Dyer all game. We need to get back on terms quickly or they will try and expose down that side on the break.
-
So - apart from Warnock being useless this is quite an entertaining game?
-
Apart from the goal I think we've looked alright so far.
-
Nutmeg of?? Warnock!! waheeey
-
Warnock murdered again, good save Brad.
-
We're being run ragged at home by Swansea City.
-
Warnock is getting murdered. Dyer has him beaten every time. Thank god Guzan saved that.
-
Get Warnock off.
-
Is Warnock pissed?
-
Coach noting in his book..."pass towards Warnock"
Thanks Guzan for saving us. But Warnock is horrible...Played the injured after falling on his arse
-
warnock and bent the weak links at present. This is exactly what I was going on about at the weekend. Bent isn;t giving us anything and our moves are breaking down more readily.
I thikn I'd bring Warnock off, put somone else at left bacl (clark?) and bring Gardner or Bannan on. Warnock's getting skinned
-
Warnock needs to come off.
-
I'd put Clark at LB and get Bannan on.
-
What the hell is that moron acting there?! I didn't see any contact there. Gardner to the midfield and Clark to LB position
-
This is as bad a performance from an individual as I've ever seen, he's making dyer look messi-esque
-
Albrighton for LB - can't do it worse.
-
I'd put Clark at LB and get Bannan on.
Gardner for me.
-
Very open game so far.
-
Cant Hutton play on the left?
-
Why are our fans booing when we are keeping the ball?
-
We are clearly trying to play our from the back, and I think we'll get chances.
-
I'd put Clark at LB and get Bannan on.
Gardner for me.
Either will do. That danger is if Warnock's head is not in it or has gone, and it does happen, then we need to get him off before more damage is done.
-
cynical foul on Ireland.
-
Days like this I do get a bit fed up of Bent. He can score, yes. And he might well do so today, but he offers us so little. His first touch is usually terrible and attacks seem to break down when the ball gets to him.
Should be 2 - 0. We're very lucky.
-
Fuck me. We are so, so lucky
-
Graham should have scored.
-
Ireland's playing really well again, as is Clark.
Swansea look excellent don't they? Great coaching.
-
Christ. Well, this is a more familiar Villa.
-
My nerves will be shot by the end of this game.
-
Poor miss from swansea
-
That was mm from a handball from Warnock and penalty
-
Barton sent off for stupidly getting involved. Who woulda thunk it?
-
Awful at the back
-
Is it Real Madrid playing in white ?
-
Fuck me. Our defenders can be such ball watching tarts at times...
-
Where the F.. is Warnock? Dunne is running towards leftback all the time???
-
How can we suck this bad defensively?!?! This is against all laws of physics
-
We are so static. No movement or invention. Half time can't come soon enough so they can get a bollocking.
-
Warnock's got the touch of a fucking rapist
-
Such great work from Gabby - sad Bent didn't just try finish...
-
We're crap at breaking down well organised counter-attacking sides at VP. Have been for years now.
-
nobody wants to shoot
-
Fuck off Ivan Gaskell "the Villa fans are getting a little frustrated as they easily do here".
-
Oh, Bent is still playing.
-
Good foul by Collins
-
Bent is keeping the ball when gets it in fairness.
-
Fuck off Ivan Gaskell "the Villa fans are getting a little frustrated as they easily do here".
On the " terraces" too
-
lol - Warnock gets the head front of the attacker, and heads the ball behind him to a white shirt. What he lacks in skill, he make sure he has in bad luck.
-
Is it Real Madrid playing in white ?
No but they are a very good passing side. Anybody that thought they would just turn up here and roll over hasn't seen them play this season.
-
Looks like Villa had their good game for the season at Chelsea, normal service has been resumed >:(
How can they be so poor today after the weekend? Are they just tired, not fit enough ????
-
Terrible and unwatchable defence unable to build from the back, as usual.
-
lol - Warnock gets the head front of the attacker, and heads the ball behind him to a white shirt. What he lacks in skill, he make sure he has in bad luck.
Nicked
-
I really think Dunne is man-marking Dyer now
-
What are the odds on getting booed off at half time by all those people who are there thinking "...it's only Swansea..." ???
-
the taffs are doing the ole's now!
-
Just thought that. Warnock not allowed near him.
-
He's just floating across to cover him when he can. A sign that even the players know Warnock is done.
-
Gabby is way, way too deep and not in any way a threat where he is playing. You can see Ireland trying to push it forward but Bent won't work as hard as Gabby would in coming back to receive. I'd rather we just stick him up front and play with one wide man.
-
Out-passed, out-muscled and out-played so far by a much more organised, aggressive and composed side. Totally rattled from the moment they made us attack the Holte End. We'll struggle to claw this back unless changes are made.
-
Fair's fair though, Swansea have been great so far.
-
Gabby is not playing his role particularly well, N'Zog and Ireland are linking up fairly well.
-
Warnock & Bent spent 45 minutes being the weak links sadly. How much are Liverpool offering?
-
Dyer is the big threat and is skinning Warnock.
-
HT. see what mcleish does now.
-
I still think we can create chances, but not great and Warnock is completely gone.
-
Fair's fair though, Swansea have been great so far.
We look like Chelsea the other day.
-
Well they certainly showed us, how to burst our bubble with a rocket! We looked very silly at times chasing shadows!
-
Shocking half from Warnock
-
Get bent off.
-
No wonder McLeish and Kean get stick when the season ticket holders pay to see dross and the odd good performance is away from home.
We're just not set-up to take the game to the opposition are we?
-
Fair's fair though, Swansea have been great so far.
We've allowed them to be. We've been second to almost everything. They need a wake up call from McLeish to blow away the cobwebs, or this might get worse.
-
I actually think we started ok, before Warnock's abomination and I think that really shook us. Ireland is playing intelligently, but unfortunately some others aren't.
-
Warnocks shocking display has totally disturbed this team's setup. I think we will change gameplan drastically 2nd half.
Will it work? Not if Warnock gets back on the pitch.
I really think this is one of the worst games(half) I have seen a player have for Villa.
-
N'zog and Ireland have been a lot of huff and puff but no end product yet...hard for them though with the lack of quality and movement around them.
Warnock - just terrible. MON had the right idea shipping him off to the reserves and Warnock's attitude at that time told me he is not worthy of the shirt.
Gabby - could be the difference in the second half if he can recapture his early season form. Not happened for him in the first half.
Bent - just hope he sticks one away if he gets a chance.
Clark and Petrov - doing ok
-
How after the result and performance against Chelsea can we be so shit against a side with an away record of W0 D3 L6 F6 A19 GD-13?
Oh yeah, because we're Villa!
-
Maybe send warnock out in the away kit, he's spent the first half in claret and blue passing to white shirts...
-
How many shots on target have we had?
-
Right, we need to change things a bit. Warnock s going to cost us another goal, but Clark is doing well in midfield so perhaps Hutton at left back?
Bent isn't really working up front, but not quite sure what the answer is there. Can't really take him off when we need goals. We could go 442 with Albrighton right, but I fear that would empty the midfield too much and Swansea would play around us even more.
Bit of a tricky one really. Might just need to keep plugging away, try and get some set pieces as they look vulnerable at the back, and get Bent to offer us more.
-
Well I wouldn't have booed, but we need more guile, we need more patience and above all we need to calm down. Every time the defence get put under the slightest pressure they panic like pidgeons being charged at by a herd of wildebeest and smack the ball away. More calm, more movement, more guile in possession - maybe Bannan is the answer here.
-
Warnock's performance reminiscent of Ugo's shocker at home to Norwich many moons ago.
-
Fair's fair though, Swansea have been great so far.
We've allowed them to be.
The standard "they're playing really well so it must be our fault".
Sometimes teams just happen to play really well.
-
You just know Heskey is going to make an appearance now.
But personally I would get Warnock off, put Clark at Left Back and Bannan in the centre.
-
Poor set up, poor tactics, Gabby might not be a lot of things but he's not a utility player, Left, Right and centre now I think in consecutive games, crazy, that said he's getting through a massive amount of work and the header in the 37th setting up Bent to have a pop was sheer brilliance, a better striker would have at least took that on rather than elect to pass out of the danger area.
Wait till the 60th, if it carries on Bent of, Gabby to the centre (he's really hungry) Clark of and maybe Ireland who looks as though is already fading to norm.
Nathen Dyer is a real handful, kind of player we should look to get.
Swansea could easily be 3 up.
Worst Villa player so far Warnock, Gabby is the match saver if played correctly, loads of work ethic from him.
-
It didn't warrant booing. I think we can win the game, get Ireland and N'Zog more involved as they've done good things. Gabby needs to improve a lot, and Bent needs to be given chances.
-
Warnock & Bent spent 45 minutes being the weak links sadly. How much are Liverpool offering?
I'd like to see Gabby and Nzog swapping sides a bit more often. Both will be a greater goal threat when they're playing as outside-in wingers. At the moment they're set up to feed Bent and I'm not sure Bent's movement, whilst excellent, is good enough to justify nullifying two of our attacking players.
-
So we beat Chelsea away, a great result and now find ourselves losing at home to Swansea. Blackburn beat Man U Way, a great result and are 2-0 down at HT to Stoke. After the Lord Mayor's show for both I appears.
-
They certaibnly look more fresh than us. I really don't think we've been terrible at all and started quite well. But Swansea really look excellent and their movement is a real problem for us.
Slaughter me if you want, but I actually think Heskey could cause their defence lots of problems. But then so could Gabby if he were up top.
-
Its because this weekend, the big team lose against the poor teams ;)
-
Right come on Villa massive effort now.
-
Well I wouldn't have booed, but we need more guile, we need more patience and above all we need to calm down. More calm, more movement, more guile in possession - maybe Bannan is the answer here.
I see what you're saying Monty but Bannan never looks like he has the patience, too busy being busy, wanting to change the game with every touch he gets. We need to press up on them but more importantly reduce the acres of space between Bent and the rest of the team. We're really failing to get players into the box when attacking and the Swansea defence are having a very comfortable afternoon.
Impressed with Ireland, N'Zogbia and Carlos. The rest are at best just going through thre motions.
-
So we beat Chelsea away, a great result and now find ourselves losing at home to Swansea. Blackburn beat Man U Way, a great result and are 2-0 down at HT to Stoke. After the Lord Mayor's show for both I appears.
Anybody that got carried away with the Chelsea is seriously deluded, AM engineered wins against Chelsea and Man Utd and a draw v Spurs this time last season for B'ham City and then went on to beat Arsenal in a cup final........................................And still got relegated.
-
Its our usual problems, no consistency, unable to match teams who pass the ball well and have no clue on breaking down a defence who are going to retain the ball and make us chase the game.
Now's the time for AM to earn his corn and kick the appropriate arses.
-

Irrespective of how want to dissect it, beating Chelsea at their place was a great result. Connecting beating teams to eventual relegation is taking the glass half empty analogy to the most extreme level.
-
Warnock's still on it seems. Come on Villa!!!!
-
Warnock back out :(
Maybe they gave him some shisham shebab or whats it called that Ireland had?
-
Right fucking come on Villa.
-
You just know Heskey is going to make an appearance now.
But personally I would get Warnock off, put Clark at Left Back and Bannan in the centre.
I'm wondering how he's going to work the Heskey sustitution
-
Balls stream has gone, has anyone got one?
-
2 nil
-
Game over
-
Fuck it!
-
Shambolic.
-
Disgusting.
-
c'mon villa
-
oh crap
-
Oh for crying out loud.
-
Horrible again...All from Collins to guzan to cuellar
Horrible
-
For f*cks sake
-
Fux sake. According to the Beeb Carlos was at fault for that one?
-
Hate to say it but they just want it more it seems.
-
Might as well put Heskey on, and try conserve the -2 goal result. Could keep us up.
-
Our defenders are a group of clowns, probably the most overpaid clowns in the world.
-
2 shit goals, back to reality i guess!
-
bloody brilliant : (
-
Utterly hideous.
-
Well that's us knackered what a fucking disaster.
-
We need a quick reply.
-
This is shit.
-
Changes need to be made, but even so, I'd say this is now a certain defeat. We've been thoroughly out-played.
-
Fux sake. According to the Beeb Carlos was at fault for that one?
Guzan - to slow kicking ball. Cuellar rounded to easily. Defense totally out of position. Routledge got in between 5-6 Villa players in a 1x1 meter area.
-
hopeless. what on earth was going on there? game over i fear.
-
a shot!
-
Luke Moore to get the 3rd?
-
And now the whole team lost their spine (if they had one..).. Stoping after poor passes, waving arms, then not ready when the ball is won back.
-
Fux sake. According to the Beeb Carlos was at fault for that one?
Guzan - to slow kicking ball. Cuellar rounded to easily. Defense totally out of position. Routledge got in between 5-6 Villa players in a 1x1 meter area.
Cheers Edvard.
-
4-4-2, Albrighton on for Clark maybe?
-
Its sad watching a team that have such a paucity of resources in terms of players and money completely out pass and out play us. Their coaching is simply far better.
-
At least the goals weren't from set pieces, just stupid mistakes.
Can't see Villa scoring three, we're not creating anything playing like this.
-
Hutton on for Cuellar...Something wrong ...knee?
-
Cuellar injured now.
-
Fair play to Swansea, they look far more composed on the ball.
-
Oh good, Hutton's coming on.
-
Can I predict their third coming from a penalty, courtesy of Alan Hutton?
-
should have named unchanged team , we had a good balance but gabby is better in the middle and benty although a finisher contributes little in build up play.
-
Got to feel sorry for Carlos. The perfect excuse for McLeish to persevere with his four favourites at the back for the rest of the season.
-
This is a really poor performance, embarrassing is not strong enough.
-
We have four absolute liabilities for defenders. Warnock, Collins, Dune and Hutton
-
2-0 down to a side that's not won away all season, and he brings on ASBO Hutton? Fucking seriously?
-
Its sad watching a team that have such a paucity of resources in terms of players and money completely out pass and out play us. Their coaching is simply far better.
What's Clark done to be replaced?
We need three goals, so replace Warnock with Clark at LB and bring on Albrighton.
-
Which is the name of their keeper? I have never seem him in action today!
-
I really don't get how a team can go from putting in such a great performance against Chelsea and then play like utter dross today
-
Can McLeish see this isn't working
-
So negative attack from Zogbia. First he plays the ball 10 yards behind Gabby, then later runs the ball out.
This is the usual Zogbia 2nd half?
-
I really don't get how a team can go from putting in such a great performance against Chelsea and then play like utter dross today
Blackburn beat United.
Chelsea were as bad as they'll be all year, I'm not sure we can use it as an indicator of this team not being shite.
-
I really don't get how a team can go from putting in such a great performance against Chelsea and then play like utter dross today
Its easier to motivate yourself against a top team rather than a 'lesser' team?
-
This is very poor now.
-
Dunne's a dick
-
I really don't get how a team can go from putting in such a great performance against Chelsea and then play like utter dross today
I take it you've not followed us for long?
-
Another of our defensive liabilities, Dunne, in the book.
-
I really don't get how a team can go from putting in such a great performance against Chelsea and then play like utter dross today
Why? Because it's a lot easier to defend deep and counter-attack than take the game to a team that are better at keeping possession than us.
-
I really don't get how a team can go from putting in such a great performance against Chelsea and then play like utter dross today
Not fit enough and too full of over confidence, plus out thought by their manager over McLoose
-
He tries to protest his innocence after pushing him right in front of the ref? What a twat.
-
This is now very very poor.
-
I really don't get how a team can go from putting in such a great performance against Chelsea and then play like utter dross today
Why? Because it's a lot easier to defend deep and counter-attack than take the game to a team that are better at keeping possession than us.
Spot on
-
38-62% to Swansea
-
Swansea pass the ball really nicely.
I dread to think what they'd have done with Sinclair playing too.
Their manager has done a great job.
-
No one has any idea what Dyer said to him. The fact Dyer walks towards him mouthing off and squaring upto Dunne is bad enough, but we don't know what was said.
-
Sorry but Dyer deserved a booking too. Clearly went to antogonise Dunne more, got in his face etc. Horrible
-
38-62% to Swansea
That is a fucking disgrace and a stark reminder to everyone that McLeish is really not the man for the Villa job. Never was, never will be.
-
do we really need stan and clark holding now? i'd bring gardner on. may as well lose 0-3
-
Get Gardner on.
-
Yep would get Garnder on too.
-
Have we scored from a corner this season?
-
No one has any idea what Dyer said to him. The fact Dyer walks towards him mouthing off and squaring upto Dunne is bad enough, but we don't know what was said.
Doesn't matter what was said. You don't raise your hands to another player, especially not in front of the ref who has just given you a talking to for a foul
-
Anyone got the odds on us going down? ;~)
-
And still no changes.
-
Its sad watching a team that have such a paucity of resources in terms of players and money completely out pass and out play us. Their coaching is simply far better.
To be fair, they've been practicing this for a few years. We on the other hand are still suffering the hangover of years of anti-football abuse.
-
Deserve to lose I'm going out to do some shopping much more fun!
-
Our first real goalthreat 2nd half..Hutton to Ireland
-
We are terrible at defending corners and equally terrible at attacking them.
-

To be fair, they've been practicing this for a few years. We on the other hand are still suffering the hangover of years of anti-football abuse.
]
To be fair, they've taken 3 points from 9 away games this season.
-

But having a go at him acting like it was totally outlandish he did it is ridiculous. He had a player antagonizing him and saying god knows what. No, you shouldn't push someone away, but it doesn't make him a dick.
-
McLeish doing his rabbit between the headlights routine again
-
McLeish doing his rabbit between the headlights routine again
It's hard to gain consistency when you're coming up against the likes of Swansea every other game.
-
BetterATM
-
Once again Villa manage to go against a trend, Swansea not won away all season and see Villa off no trouble at all.
-
And still no changes.
-

Dunne was a cock Dyer is running rings around us.

Tactictal chnage
Ireland out??? And Marc Albrighton on....
-
Feckin great! back to work tomorrow.
-
Bringing Ireland off, mistake the one creative player. Good luck Marc.
-
"You don't know what you are doing" chants
-
Ireland off?
The stupid ****** doesn't know what he's doing.
-
eh? surely not
-
Oh dear. What is he thinking.
-
Poor decision
-
Unless Ireland is tired after two games in two days.
-
I really don't get how a team can go from putting in such a great performance against Chelsea and then play like utter dross today
I take it you've not followed us for long?
Ha, unfortunately i've been watching the Villa for 22 years now! It's so annoying and frustrating to watch us play so good against Chelsea, and then look like a complete different team against Swansea. That said i've seen this so many times over the years I should be used to it
-
I'm sorry, but McLeish doesn't have a clue, does he.
-
It's all going spectacularly pear-shaped at the moment.
-
Bought a playmaker on... and took another off
-
Good move, Ireland of, MA on, don't know what the fans are moaning about he's faded badly.
Needs to get Gabby more central, we need a goal in the next few mins and we can still get a point from this.
-
I think it's absolutely nuts bringing Ireland off.
-
Why take Ireland off? Stupid...
-
Unless Ireland is tired after two games in two days.
He didn't much like it, he was still our most lively player on the pitch, and he could be rested in the Cup anyway, so he'd have nearly two weeks without a game.
-
Hope that will count as a shot on goal...clark from 60 yards
-
I love how these players are beyond reproach at times. Stephen Ireland has done fuk all in a Villa shirt for the best part of two years and then gets a standing ovation and the manager villified after one decent performance.
-
Tactictal chnage
Ireland out??? And Marc Albrighton on....
MoM at Chelsea, subbed today, has he been back to his norm today?
-
We really have clueless fans - Ireland was injured a couple of weeks ago and is probably knackered after 2 games in 3 days
Seems any excuse to have a go at McLeish
-
why is albrighton on the left? fucking stupid.
-

Two good performances. He's been the best Villa player out there today.
If he'd been average or not played well at all, nonoe could complain, but he's the only player out there that looked likely to do anything.
-
"You don't know what you are doing" chants
I did wonder before the game with the inclusion of Bent and Marc on the bench, just where the service would come from. If we play Bent at least give him some bloody crosses to run on to.
-
Ireland has been one of the few that have done ok for me. Tried to make things happen, but just not been able to.
-
gardner for warnock pls. clark at left back. and may as well throw heskey up top. bent is contributing nothing
-
I tried what I did against Chelsea and not watch a stream until 60 mins had passed. It's been all us but nothing approaching any end product.
-
My goodness. This is about as inept a display as I've seen in a good while. Spurs was a surrender, but in a game we should be winning this is horrendous. It's honestly as if the whole lot got wankered after the Chelsea game and have massive hangovers. Or the team thinks the game is at 7.30 or something.
-
I'm sorry, but McLeish doesn't have a clue, does he.
Jimbo its simple mate, he can set a team up one way and make it very difficult for teams to break us down, hence Chelsea, if he deviates from that we are phucked, one trick pony, just the same at City, that's what i was saying earlier, problem is you can't stay in the Premiership playing like that, or at least have a decent season.
Said a few days ago, irrespective of the Chelsea result said the Swansea game was all important, and so its proving.
-
MA crosses have been an improvement
-
Also, the early goal killed our game plan, as we needed them to come onto us a little more, and they never needed to.
-
atmospher shockng all game too
-
Poor all over.
-
Marc has def helped the attack. And Warnock has recovered from his shock performance
-
It really doesn't help at all that we are utterly wank at attacking from corners and free kicks. That's 11 corners. Shocking.
-
Why are the crowd swallowing this sh*t week in week out. Boos lasting a couple of seconds after the half-time and final whistles do not give a strong enough message that this is f***ing unacceptable
-
We looked far better in the last 3 games without bent and with gasbby leading the line, much better balance then!
-
Just seen the stats. Villa 11 corners Swansea 0, Shots on target Villa 1 Swansea 3, (scored 2).
-
Unless Ireland is tired after two games in two days.
He didn't much like it, he was still our most lively player on the pitch, and he could be rested in the Cup anyway, so he'd have nearly two weeks without a game.
Yep. AM is a genius for persevering with him one day then clueless for taking him off two days later when we're 0-2 down.
-
We just look short of ideas, we hold onto the ball in our half and then lump it up when no one is open, we need to learn to be patient.
-

If you're shit at scoring from AND defending set pieces you've got a togh job on your hands to win games.
-
I'd take Petrov off and put Gardner or even Fonz on. May as well try something!
-
Is that right, this would be Swansea's first win on the road this season?
They've outplayed us, but with a record like that, if we get a goal back they could get nervous.
-
We need a goal, we need a goal ffs
-

Ireland was being taken off against Chelsea but Petrov asked to be taken off after scoring.
-
35,642 the attendance.
and congrats to John M'Zog
-

Swansea away record before today W0 D3 L6 F6 A19 GD-13
-
The problem is he picked gabby out of position for no good reason and ever since he's been trying to fit round peg into square holes. Incredibly naive tactics.
-
We just look short of ideas, we hold onto the ball in our half and then lump it up when no one is open, we need to learn to be patient.
Short of ideas is the result from lack of movement by players. McLeish seems unable to do anything to fix that. Most likely doesn't even notice the whole thing
-
The thug was lucky there.
-
Gardner for Clark and Bannan for Petrov for now, try and give us a different idea?
-
Fans and players have given up... Bent is shocking going forward with the ball. (he is actually not going forward)
-
Is that right, this would be Swansea's first win on the road this season?
They've outplayed us, but with a record like that, if we get a goal back they could get nervous.
We haven't looked like scoring though Kev. Lot of farting instead.
-
Good to see Gabby and Bent trying to occupy the same square inch in the box.
-

Ireland was being taken off against Chelsea but Petrov asked to be taken off after scoring.
I was thinking about fan perception though, and the changeability thereof, rather than his tactical abilities.
-
Our corners are absolutely shocking.
-
My god this is bad!
-
Gardner for Clark and Bannan for Petrov for now, try and give us a different idea?
We've already made 2 subs haven't we?
-
Gardner for Clark and Bannan for Petrov for now, try and give us a different idea?
Are we allowed 4 subs now?
-
1 shot on target, oh dear.
-
Banana on for Petrov me think ?
-
Gardner for Clark and Bannan for Petrov for now, try and give us a different idea?
Are we allowed 4 subs now?
Its been bad hasn't it?!
-
Even the Blues weren't this bad at home under McLeish.
-
2-2 Final score, we just need to get one...
-
Another corner. I want to be encouraged every time we get one but we are really completely bollocks at them.
-
Yet to score from a corner this season methinks?
-
Why oh why did we have to win against Bolton and Chelsea. Losses in those games (too) and Mcleish could be gone now.
-
We're paying the price for having had so many managers in the last two seasons. We don't have a coherent squad.
-
13 corners and not even looked close to scoring from any of them.
-
I was speaking to a nose last night who said it was typical McLeish to put in decent performances against decent sides but totally fuk it up against the so called lesser sides. Not that Swansea are given that they know how to pass the ball to each other.
-
Bannan on for Clark with 6 minutes to go.
Pointless really.
-
Bannan for Clark ...hmmm... Well - might as well... Petrov up front ;) Its not like we will counter
-
Shit outswinging corners. Whip one in ffs!
-
You'd think Petrov would need the rest but it is Clark for Bannan
-
Bent, edge of the area, runs away from a pass to feet. Shocking.
-
Yet to score from a corner this season methinks?
I'd be confident in thinking we might be the only team in the PL that hasn't.
-
dunne showing warnock how to do his job there
-
Do we have a plan for corners? HAve less idea with attacking ones than we do with defending them.
-
Villa heads going down, Swansea will settle for this now, have to say AM as played a blinder!!!!!!!
That was so nearly a penalty
-
My christ our corners are bad.
-
Brave save from Brad.
-
Brad's nose all bust up.
-
Blimey. Just in to see the last five minutes. I presume we've been rubbish, then?
Of all the games for Risso to go and watch!
-
Swansea have defended well, we knew they were tough to score against and they have stuck to their game plan well and got bodies behind the ball. Once again we thought we would win just by showing up.
-
We're paying the price for having had so many managers in the last two seasons. We don't have a coherent squad.
Is the most sensible thing I've read on here for a while. We're clearly still in recovery mode. I expect survival this year with some high points and low points on the way. To still be calling for McLeish's head after the performances in December is wrong. And it's probably just as stupid to have assumed we were going to push on for the top 6 after the chelsea game.
-
That pisses me off. Bannans "tug" was barely there, and "clear foul" - yet Gabby's held arm was "not enough".
Fuck off..
-
Warnock's fucking mare of a backpass has completely undone the gameplan. Swansea really have had it very easy today.
-
Bent, edge of the area, runs away from a pass to feet. Shocking.
If i'd just landed on this planet and somebody said to me Bent is a top Premiership striker, i'd comment planet of loons here.
That's unfair because he is a good striker, just the way he's being played.
Wait for the boo's and rightly so IMO
-
Risso is a Jonah.
-
Bloody appalling in the second half, really really bad. Ireland shouldn't have been brought off, he was our one slight threat.
-
Bristol Rovers must be licking their chops.
-
Can anyone remember when out shot on target was?
-
5 mins? Guzan went down 85 min...game started 88+
-
5mins we can still pull it off
-
Corners - we seem to be standing still not attacking the ball and then nobody on the edge to pick up the pieces - this is crap
-
Bristol Rovers must be licking their chops.
We're away = we may have a chance!
-
Of all the games for Risso to go and watch!
At least finally he'll have something to justify his endless moanings. *winky*
-
Bristol Rovers must be licking their chops.
We're away = we may have a chance!
Currently losing 2-0 away to Barnet.
-
so good Villa - playing the ball around our own half, and can't get out of it.
-
Swansea's first away win in the PL.
-
Compare and contrast. Blackburn go 2-0 down but fight back to get a goal back and have been laying siege to Stoke but have just lost out.
We have barely had a shot at their goal.
-
We're paying the price for having had so many managers in the last two seasons. We don't have a coherent squad.

I'd agree more if he wasn't making stupid decisions that make things worse.
Albrighton should've started, Bent should've been on the bench, you don't make a change like that to a side that's just come off a great away result.
Petrov has been poor in the second half but he stays on and clark comes off.
Persisting with the same back 4 for so long has been stupid as well, there's clearly problems back there but he seems to have no idea what to do about it so he just lets them make the same mistakes over and over.
-
Lose to Bristol and he's got to go?
-
This is about as poor as it gets.
-
Lose to Bristol and he's got to go?
Not even we are that crap.
-
hehe - Inside of post nzogbia.
-
Unlucky Zog.
-
We just look short of ideas, we hold onto the ball in our half and then lump it up when no one is open, we need to learn to be patient.
Been a regular fault of Villa, no ideas some times. We don't have a way of playing at home that is capable of breaking a resolute defence.
-
4 home defeats on the bounce!
-
Lose to Bristol and he's got to go?
Inept, clueless, 94th minute before a real pop at goal against a team that hasn't won in 10 and that ships away goal for fun.
Terrible.
