Available Sunday afternoon.
-
No Bent, are the rumours on Twitter. I reckon that means Heskey with Bannan playing behind him. Not many goals in that lineup! But at least Heskey can hold the ball up.
Bench probably@ Marshall, Clark, Cuellar, Delph, Ireland, Fonz, Weimann
-
Bent out through illness The Fonz and Heskey up top
-
Herd also out injured
-
#AVFC Guzan/ Hutton Dunne Collins Warnock/ Albrighton Petrov Delph N'Zogbia/ Heskey Delfouneso
-
Oh shit.
-
Eeeek
-
No Herd? Not convinced. Could be a long day!
-
Who's going to do the running around to keep Petrov going like Herd does?!
-
Delph I guess.
-
Deep shit
-
A very strong line up, for a Championship game...
-
Not looking good tbh. Hopefully delfouneso will step up to the plate, db could do with knowing he's not an automatic starter me thinks
-
Great opportunity for Delph - I really hope he can make an impression today. He's had such bad luck with being out injured so this is his chance. And for Delfounesco to make his mark. Fingers crossed!
-
So now we have to rely on the players that can't get into our already shit first team. Long afternoon ahead.
-
Come on you Villa boys.
-
Come on Villa.
-
Oh dear. I don't think we can expect much today.
-
Are we having a sweepstake on what time Delph gets booked and substituted?
-
Christ what an awful side. I cannot see us putting more than 5 passes together. The defence is going to be under the cosh from word go Heskey starting is criminal. Herd, Clark, Bannan and Weimann should be in the team.
-
Any links yet?
-
I'd love to see Wiemann get some proper game time today. Nothing to lose really.
-
Love to see that massive flag.
-
That is a young bench.
-
Come on Fonz bang a couple in.
-
links anyone?
-
Nice torrent of abuse for Downing there!
Quick question, Tom Ross said a moment ago that the Doug Ellis Stand isn't actually called that anymore? Apparently the lettering has been taken off?
-
Great ball from Albrighton to Heskey, but offside.
-
our bench - marshall, cuellar, clark, bannan, johnson, burke
stephen ireland? has mcleish given up on him?
who else are we missing
good cross from albrighton there. unfortunately chance fell to heskey
-
Fucking diabolical defending, well done boys.
-
FUK KING HELL!!
-
keep it tight
-
No surprises yet, everything as expected so far.
-
poor from petrov there for the goal. gave shelvey far too much space
-
keep it tight
Maybe not :/
-
Yet another set piece. Do they train the defenders at all?
-
http://live-sports-free.com/
-
*slow clap for our defence*
-
Another corner, fucking terrible.
-
Fucking defensive frailty!!
-
Fuck this!
-
Ball retention is absolute gash as well.
-
Fonz has looked bright and Albrighton. The rest are not even awake, badly miss Herd already.
-
Absolutely wank defending.
-
Absolutely shit goals. Going to be a long day. Bellamy making our defenders look like the blundering carthorses they are.
-
Yet another set piece. Do they train the defenders at all?
Don't need to. We've got that giant of organisational ability and leadership Richard Dunne to sort things out and keep our defence from becoming a shambles. Apparently.
-
This is fucking diabolical.
-
No urgency at all.
-
Absolutely outclassed so far.
-
Away team 64% possession and 2-0 up after 15 mins. Absolute joke
-
We are absolutely gash!
-
The most disappointing thing is the crowd don't even sound bothered such is the apathy.
-
Playing against us is like kicking away a blind mans stick. Another national embarrassment on T.V.
-
:(
-
I'm leaving it there. I'm a terrible fan and besides, I have to shovel some broken glass down my throat right about now. At least it will be less painful.
-
They're certainly missing Herd, both in open play and defending set pieces.
-
turned it off.
-
The worst thing is liverpool are really average.
-
Better - N'Zog.
-
Yet again 2 soft goals from corners and you can bet mcleish will field the same defence week in , week out, awful shambles and clark and cuellar should be in ahead of collins and hutton on weds but we know it wont happen.
This game is lost already because these players have little heart or fight in them.
-
The most disappointing thing is the crowd don't even sound bothered such is the apathy.
Players don't look that bothered either.
-
N'Zogbia is doing well.
-
Delfouneso and N'Zog having a good go.
-
Well at least the ball hit the net there...
Might have been nicer on the other side though
-
We're getting better.
-
There has been somewhat of a response since the 2nd goal.
Nowhere near enough mind, and both goals were diabolical.
-
Ironic that the makeshift attack is looking decent but our first choice defence has fucked it up for us.
-
Going forward Fonz looks ready for premier league football in his all round play, and Zog looks like the player we bought.
-
Yep them 2 linking up well.
-
Corner.
So thats about a 50% chance of a goal
-
Totally inept defending. Seems clear Villa haven't a clue about defending set pieces, you have to conclude the defence coaches are either useless or the defenders are unable to follow instructions.
AM must be on his way out early in the New Year, as after the next few games we will be hovering around the bottom four. Lerner will again have to admit Villa's method of picking a manager and giving him a lengthy contract is not the way forward unless the manager is a top class one, and they aren't going to come to B6 in our present position, both football wise or financially.
-
Crikey! Liverpool haven't scored from the last two corners.
-
Ball retention is shocking.
-
5 year plan wasnt it?
gabby is obviously a huge loss but without him we look a championship side really.
-
Adam should have been sent off by now. He makes Hutton look like a model of fair play and Corinthian spirit.
-
5 year plan wasnt it?
Shhh, the 5 year plan didn't exist (even though the General referred to it several times..).
-
"Its a form of zonal marking" says Alan Smith. What.....a shit form?
-
Just got in (playing 'catch up' on the old Sky+) and have watched the goals a couple of times. It really is very poor defending indeed, there is nothing there from Liverpool that should be causing any half-decent defense any trouble. One sloppy goal and you can understand it, but it's happening again and again and again. Not to change things, or to see any sign of improvement in that area, only points to poor coaching and management, in my opinion.
And now I have to go and get the tree out of the attic.
-
Fonz should have hit the target.
-
Have I picked the wrong time to come in and put the computer on?
-
When does Fonz ever hit the target?
How long is he going to be a "promising youngster" before we admit he's just a bit crap.
-
Fonz got a nudge in the back there...should of chucked himself on the deck.
-
Our shooting is pants.
-
this is like watching one of those videos where you know the kid is going to hit the guy in the junk with the bat.
Even though you know it is coming, and you know it is going to hurt and make you cringe, you can't look away.
I feel like I am just waiting for the next goal...
-
To be fair Bent has missed a lot much easier chances than that this season from Fonz, who with Zog has looked at least bright and able to keep the ball.
-
Trying to think of the last time heskey looked useful. Maybe spurs last year before he came off injured?
-
I think we need to bring 2 subs on, but not take anyone off
-
Fucking hell Delph is having a shocker.
-
Downing has been playing unusually well.
-
Trying to think of the last time heskey looked useful. Maybe spurs last year before he came off injured?
Either then or when he played at VP for Leicester.
-
He is. Greg will be happy.
-
feel sorry for delph. his confidence has gone to pieces. think clark should be given a run in midfield.
-
Downing is being helped by Warnock being completely fucking useless though.
-
Fucking hell Delph is having a shocker.
Does he have anything else other than this - Leeds must still be pissing themselves laughing at us for buying him...
-
Nice clearance from heskey for liverpool there.
-
Heskey really is shit!!
-
He may as well throw Weimann on,hes done more this half than Emile has.
-
feel sorry for delph. his confidence has gone to pieces. think clark should be given a run in midfield.
Clark in midfield is something we should be trying for certain, and he actually looked good there last season against united and Blues.
-
This is embarrassing! I didn't feel this apathetic about Villa under o'dreary! I was willing to give eck time but this is utter shite. How a former defender can set up a team to be sho shit defensively is beyond me
-
Heskey , delph and fonz have been extremely poor and the rest just very poor apart from nzogbia who has at least shown some quality.
-
Fonze does hard things well and easy thing badly.
-
god damnit, this is fucking embarrassing. can we please find a way to create a formidable attack? I don't care who's on the pitch and what personnel McLeish has. Football is a philosophy and our style of play, or attempt at style, is unacceptable for this level.
-
Just seen the second goal again, Dunne completely fucked up. We just don't have anything about us.
-
I know Mcleish has threatened it before, but surely changes need to be made defensively.
The amount of soft goals we concede is unreal.
-
It's getting a bit tiresome watching us meekly surrender against anyone from the top six.
We look desperately short of quality.
-
Not good enough. That is all
-
doing ok at the moment. Let's try and keep it down a bit, though, as the goal difference might come back to haunt us. A win last week and a loss here, is better than two draws.
-
Mutton's not been too bad ... well, it's all relative.
-
They have just said on TV that we had 7 defenders marking 3 forwards for the 2 goal, but because we do zonal marking nobody takes up the reponsibilty to track a player, so he just gets a free header!
-
Heskey , fonz and delph have been extremely shit and the rest just very shit , barring nzogbia who has at least shown some quality.
-
I know Mcleish has threatened it before, but surely changes need to be made defensively.
The amount of soft goals we concede is unreal.
That's the thing though. Until he actually does the current defensive bollocks will continue. The current players have almost no fear of losing their place. It breeds complacency. The last time this group of defenders were criticized or dropped they tore up a hotel.
-

just about sums up where we are in the Premiership constellation.
-
Poor at best. The only minor plus for me has been Albrighton, who has put in a couple of decent balls, think the fact he's touched the ball in the opposition half is a plus in itself.
-
I know Mcleish has threatened it before, but surely changes need to be made defensively.

Actually it was Hutton who should follow Skrtl, but he looks down, then up and he is in front of him. Lack of concentration IMO. (like all other corners).
The first i think there were 3 defenders without a red shirt on the far-post...shocking
-
I couldn't even be arsed to pay £2 for an illegal stream. A quick look at the HT scores on the BBC site confirmed that my anal lethargy was not unjustified.
-
Downing has been playing unusually well.
dont think so. bellamy on the other side has been far more lively I think. Liverpool arent even playing that well but we are so crap they dont have to.
there is one thing mcleish could do to improve things. let heskey leave on a free transfer at half time. honestly we play with 10 men when he is on the pitch.
-
Bad Eck English - you care and you know it. That's why you are on here and posting!!!
-

But harsh to blame one - when the whole setup is not right...hmm..correction - blame one! McLeish!
-

Who the hell would want him?
-
Giving the ball away again - from CB, twice.
-
Harsh on Fonz. One header over and 1 misplaced pass apart, rest of the time he at least took the game to their back 4. Significantly better than Heskey
-
Dunne put it on a plate for Suarez there, he has continued to be fucking awful this half. Get him off.
-
What the hell was Dunne doing against Suarez?!!
-
Heskey would be applauded when going to Anfield..jus for leaving them...
Jekyl and Hyde from Dunne there!!
He has at least one pr game..lets hope that was it, and the rest will be good
-
Dunne, wake up you ass. Starting off pathetic here.
-
Glad we've started as we mean to go on.
-
downings decision is looking very justified now....
-
Nice save Bradley!
-
Giving the fuckin' ball away, again, again and again. It's just basic stuff.
-
For fuck sake! We couldn't help Liverpool more if we tried!
#Brainfart Warnock
Good save Guzan
-
very sloppy from dunne. did the hard work in getting back but losing the ball there was criminal. should be 3-0.
hutton being destroyed again today
ah we are just brutal.
-
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON. Why are we giving the ball away.. we are literally just passing the ball to them.
-
ffs warnock. what is he doing?!
-
Giving the fuckin' ball away, again, again and again. It's just basic stuff.
And again by Collins.
-
This defence all told cost us £23 million in transfer fees alone, let alone the wages!
-
My Bristol Rovers supporting mate has just text me to say he didn't realize how poor we are and that he has renewed hope for the third round cup game in a few weeks.
-
Theres a horrible predictability that the team and crowd have all got use to this shit now,and were only 16 games into the season.
-
Albie looks shit today too.
McMinge may as well gamble and throw some kids on.
-
Why isn't Herd playing?
-
All I want for Christmas is Alex McLeish's resignation. It's not much to ask.
-
Are these players really playing for their manager or are they just average players who couldnt give a toss win or lose?
Lerner needs to make some big decisions here as this team is heading only one way and thats down.
-
These players do not want to play for this manager, the body language is terrible.
-
All I want for Christmas is Alex McLeish's resignation. It's not much to ask.
I think you have more chance of finding a Porsche under your tree on the twenty-fifth. He's not going to quit and they won't sack him.
-
Why isn't Herd playing?
Injured
-
No urgency, no invention, no movement: the guy with the ball just has no options.
-
why isn't Herd playing?
injured I think. says it all this season when herd who to be fair gives his all is our saviour.
heskey off is a start. clark for delph now.
-
These players do not want to play for this manager, the body language is terrible.
I agree with this.
-
These players do not want to play for this manager, the body language is terrible.
They didn't want to play for the last one either. Perhaps we should just let the players pick the manager, then they can have a lovely time not training too hard. Or alternatively, and this would be my preferred option, the majority of them can just sod right off and we can play the youth team.
-
These players do not want to play for this manager, the body language is terrible.
In fairness to McLeish (and I winced as I typed that), these useless bastards out on the pitch didn't want to play for Houllier either, or O'Neill in his last season. They're bone idle.
We have:
A bunch of players who seem happy to pick up their wages for doing fuck all
A manager who's had his team relegated twice in 3 years
A chairman who seems to have lost his wallet.
The future looks grim.
-
Houllier got it spot on. He knew we had to get rid of this defence. They cannot do the simple things like retain possession of the football well at all. You surely shouldn't have to teach that to professional footballer. I've seen McLeish go mental on the touchline when he's seen this, and while he has to share in some of the blame, you to feel for him a little bit because his hands are tied for the next couple of years in trying to move the crap out, and bringing new players in. However, having said that he certainly hasn't helped himself by picking the same players week in, week out.
-
Embarrassing.
-
This should be at least 6 by now. We are fucking diabolical.
-
suarez is a magical player. great ball from downing there.
hutton is some joke. beaten again by bellamy
another liverpool sitter missed
-
Does Albrighton not know we are playing in claret & blue. Gives the ball away so many times today.
-
Giving the fuckin thing away again - lucky not to concede again from Adam.
-
It's a good thing Liverpool are so bad at hitting the target, we could easily be 6 or 7 down by now.
-
These players do not want to play for this manager, the body language is terrible.

I believe the choices of the chairman post the O'Neill walk out are the main reasons we are currently in this position.
Martin O'Neill was the type of manager who could get the best out of very ordinary players (Dunne, Collins and Warnock) are such players. All managers since cannot motivate them to perform, which is why Houiller wanted them out.
-
We've even made Henderson look good; a measure of our ineptitude.
-
It should be 8. We are being completely battered. How there are not songs of Eck off now I don't know when there will.
-
Bolton really must be awful.
-
N'Zogbia looks as though he getting better.
-
Poor embarassing and sadly predictable-utter garbage mcleish!
-
So why has he moved Bannan onto the wing and brought N,Zog inside? - BB's not a bleedin' winger he's a midfield creator.
Bizarre.
-
Thats was a penalty,we probably would have missed it though.
The movement,or lack of is at school boy level, what the fuck do they do at training.
-
The players look inept, dispirited and lacking ideas.
Manager has been too cautious about the subbs.
Overall, a particularly smelly shade of shit.
-
Thats was a penalty,we probably would have missed it though.
The movement,or lack of is at school boy level, what the fuck do they do at training.
There is no passion or will to win in the team, they look like they do not care. I have said it a number of times, if Villa put up a fight and still lose, they will be backed, if we roll over and go through the motions. It is inexcusable, oh well only Arsenal next!
-
How there are not songs of Eck off now I don't know when there will.
I must admit I am surprised there have not been any chants yet. It probably is as bad as we feared when he was appointed.
-
Jaysus, if our highs for the season are beating the likes of Bolton & Blackburn the we really are buggered.
I am so pissed off with watching this shite. The last 3 managers spent multi millions assembling a squad of players who don't seem to be arsed. Come the summer I hope there is a clear out. We are only going to go downhill with the current squad (manager included) as it's simply not good enough.
-
its awful, eck MUST go along with hutton, collins, warnock, heskey, fonz, ++++++
-
The majority of this team's senior players are just going through the motions to pick up their pay. Until we get a manager who will kick their arses and can motivate the team, we are only going one way, and it isn't up.
Maybe they fancy the Championship and competing for a Championship medal, because they aren't going to win anything in the top flight and we are not going to have a good cup run with this lot. Even the Gassers in Bristol will be a threat.
-
How there are not songs of Eck off now I don't know when there will.
I must admit I am surprised there have not been any chants yet. It probably is as bad as we feared when he was appointed.
Its worse,i thought we'd be hard to beat and shit to watch, were a roll over for most teams and even worse than shit to watch.
-
sideways backwards sideways backwards lose it
-
This is worse than I thought! The fans are so apathetic no one can even be arsed to complain about the performance!
-
I was bored with football and doing some facebooking / video editing / video uploading. Did Reina have a shot to save ? Villa is very very poor today again.
-
We seem to have finally realised that we need to pass the ball and score to get anything. Only Eighty-five minutes late!
-
Even BB's passing has been poor today. Maybe 'cos the movement has been has been non-existent.
-
This is worse than I thought! The fans are so apathetic no one can even be arsed to complain about the performance!
That's because we're used to it and accept it is the norm.
-
MA really poor passing today.
-
no passion, no clue, no quality, can't defend. so shit i can barely talk. disgraceful
-
This is absolutely fucking horrendous.
-
BB's not a bleedin' winger he's a midfield creator.
Bizarre.
Over rated... always looking for the Hollywood pass and rarely succeeds - have now seen 2 great passes to L'pool players
-
When did we become such a truly awful side to watch!
-
When did we become such a truly awful side to watch!
August 2011
-
Blow the whistle and put us out of our misery ref.
-
This is absolutely fucking horrendous.
Beat me to it!!
-
Have we had a shot on goal?
-
This is absolutely fucking horrendous.
Couldn't agree more.
-
This is absolutely fucking horrendous.
It isn't that good. Thanks to whoever for posting the link - though I am thoroughly depressed now. Wait until Arsenal - ground hog day. Except they have a certain RVP who is going to murder us
-
IF I am a oil rich billionairne and bought the club I would flog every player apart from
Albrighton, Clark, Given, Bent and Agbonlahor and Garner and young prospects and bulid a completely new team and overhaul coaching staff and reinvent Aston Villa. We probably need 100 millions pounds plus money generated from sales to overhaul the team.
-
We probably need 100 millions pounds plus money generated from sales to overhaul the team.
Or a half decent coach who can install basic passing and movement in the team. Rodgers and Lambert at inferior teams seem to do it.
-
Delph needs to go on loan to a championship club probably with a view to a permanent deal.
Bannan has been Blues since the drink driving incident too.
difficult for our younger players to come into a struggling side but if they cant make the step up at 19, 20 or 21 then its not looking too good for them. But to be honest I'm not sure about Bannan, Albrighton, Weimann, Fonz etc. Clark I think is the one with the best chance. Its why we need to get him into the side or send him on loan. Watching us play badly isnt doing him any favours. Herd will an option for us certainly as he has the physical attributes to make it in the EPL anyway but again he is fairly limited on the ball.
It's the end of MON's group of players. Petrov will keep going to the end of the season but he cant do it in a 2 man midfield any more. Cuellar is on the way out. It is Dunne's last season too Id say. Warnock is dreadful really, he has improved a bit from last season but he is piss poor and needs shifting. Heskey and Beye are just drawing their wages until the end of the season. Next season our squad will be hugely different but unless Lerner has rediscovered an interest in soccer then it will be stacked with even worse players. Jermaine Jenas on loan types of deals or Alan Huttons.
We wont go down this season unless Gabby gets a bad injury. But we wont be far off.
Until a new buyer is found then it really is proud history bleak future for the club. Right back to the end of DOL's time in charge.
-
We can't pass, except to the opposition.
We have no creativity.
We do not have any good players on this performance, so why don't we play Clarke and Cueller? We need a leader out there, we are spineless and have no pride.
What happens now? Something has to change.............
-
Totally inept. Can only be one person to blame and that is McLeish, please take him away in your sack Santa!!
-
If Lerner and the rest of the Board can't see the danger signs after today's performance, I can only assume their statement about Europe from Faulkner was some sort of stupidity and lost them even more credibility. >:(
The loss of Premiership status and its revenue must surely loom large in their minds for next year and maybe there is some hidden agenda in reducing expenditure to meet this more than likely prospect. After all they appointed a second tier manager, who's more comfortable in the lesser leagues. ::)
-
We probably need 100 millions pounds plus money generated from sales to overhaul the team.
Or a half decent coach who can install basic passing and movement in the team. Rodgers and Lambert at inferior teams seem to do it.
Might have had a chance if Martinez had joined us, as Wigan play better football than us. and they work for 90 minutes.
