Just found out that it's sold out. Will take a spare or two if anyone has any. Please PM.
-
Surely they'll now increase the allocation? They only gave us 1,800 to start with and the game is over a week away.
-
They've been out for ages though. Nobody really seems to be interested. Everton will have sold tickets in the Upper Tier now.
-
I asked the ticket office if they were taking extra tickets upstairs and they said no, so if they've gone then that's our lot.
-
2 required here as well if anyone can help. Poor from the club, only taking 1,800

They have to pay for all the ones they don't sell, and over the course of a season that's a lot of money. As Tommynib said, they've been on sale for ages and we only sold 1,800 so it's hardly their fault if they didn't think we'd sell another thousand-odd in a week.
-
Don't you think it's become a self-fulfilling prophesy though Dave? We've been turning down the full allocation at various grounds for a while now. One the reasons we always have a good crowd at Blackburn is the good availability of tickets.
-
I think we may have sold them a bit quicker if they'd given us upstairs, downstairs at Goodison is not great. Not only that, it's a ground everyone's been to about 10 times already and with QPR next where we have'nt been for a few years, maybe some people fancied that instead.
-
Still looking for 1 or 2 if anyone has any.
-
Have posted this elsewhere, but also looking for 1 ticket.
-
Thanks to Chooch for sorting me one out. In the market for 1 more if anyone can spare.
-
I'm on the scrounge for one ticket as well.......
PM and I'll reply asap!

The tickets we did have, though, took a long time to sell.

Taking smaller allocations in recent years has made away games a right pain in the arse now though & I think the message is getting through to the occasional/non-regular away supporter that there's probably not much chance of getting a ticket unless you get in early, or if it's against Wigan/Blackburn. A lot of people don't know if they can make it until a week or so before kick-off & there's almost no chance by that stage.
I do blame the home clubs for the most part - for example, Everton still have around 10,000 tickets available for the game against us. To pass-up the sale of possibly another 1,000 away tickets beggars belief. No wonder they're in the crap financially if that's an example of how they run the club.
Anyway, got any spares Dave?

You're missing the point Tony. It's taken over 4 weeks to sell 1,800 tickets. The chance for the occasional away fan to buy a ticket have been there for a while. It's no good leaving it until the week leading up to the game because there's a good chance a game will sell out, which it as.
-
The game sold out very quickly after it went on general sale which was a week ago. Most were already sent out to away scheme members, so the 'occasional fan' really didn't stand much of a chance unless they camped out at Villa Park waiting for away scheme members to return tickets.
-
Last minute plea for any spares if anyone can help.
-
Home end I reckon Pete

By saying its sold out do you mean the Villa end only, not the whole ground? I think Tony's point (which I agree with) is Everton's stupidity in saying Villa have to pay for any unsold seats, meaning we take the reduced allocation. The end result is thousands of empty seats in the ground, and a few more Villa fans that would have liked to attend but can't.

It would'nt surprise me if this is common practice now.

Clubs tend to get a two-tier allocation. There's the first chunk, of which they can return any number, and then there's a second, optional, allocation which all have to be paid for, sold or unsold.

For goodness sake, N'Clampy, please get your apostrophes in the right place, it's really starting to annoy me now; it wouldn't take much effort. ;)

Looked like the Upper Tier (which we didn't take) was empty.
