Title: Quiet Villa
Post by: gaucho1966 on August 11, 2011, 10:37:03 PM
Nothing controversial here... just that every time you see something Villa around and about in our daily lives, post it here. It could be anything... I'll go first.

BBC Midlands newsreader tonight had a claret and blue tie.

When Graham Taylor was England manager he was offered membership of the MCC. He said he preferred to wait his turn.

When I go down the pub at lunchtime to watch the cricket I'll be wearing my Third Division Away replica shirt. You know that natty yellow with blue trimmings jobby.
Oh and by the way, for anyone living in my locality a certain hostelry will be showing tomorrows match live. ;)

When you say you think you saw Sid "in the crowd behind one of the wickets." Do you mean tell us he fields in the slips for India?  :o

That's strange my last post has turned up as a quote from Robbo 1874.
Don't try to sue me Robbo I'm a poor pensioner and the judge will probably make you pay me!!

My youngest son is wearing his new Villa home shirt for the fifth consecutive day!

Through choice?  Or are you being tight and that's the only clothes he has to wear?

I live in a small village near Kidderminster. When I took my dog for a walk yesterday I went past the all-weather sports pitches where some 6 year olds were having some football coaching. One of them was wearing a Villa top.

Went to Nice for my honetmoon 2 weeks ago and went to Grasse for a day and saw a kid in a Villa shirt with no sponsor.  Gave him and up the Villa and got a confussed look from him and his family.  Was it anyone from here?

We talked about how brilliant we think Luke Young's gonna be pretty much.

I posted this in the "other games" thread a couple of weeks ago:

MLS all stars versus Man Utd.   What a pile of wank.

Anyway, Utd just scored and they pan around the ground to show a young lady in a New York Red Bulls jersey, holding a sign that said "Up The Villa".

Bizarre.

Had lunch and a couple of beers with a fellow H/V (Simba) at the Bell in Knysna.
One of the worlds most scenic spots and a worthy of hosting fans of the worlds greatest football team.

My mom is currently looking after a budgie, i spent 30 mins of last night trying to get it to say 'Up the Villa'. It could only say 'Joey, Joey' before I started. Now it says 'Joey Villa'. Might move onto swear words if we lose this afternoon!

The ambulances they used for transporting the elderly had a rather distinctive claret & blue band on the side.

I would have thought the elderly would prefer some nice peace and quiet not a band on the ambulance.

Tenuous but...

I drove to Tewkesbury the other day, passed a sign to the village of Aston Somerville (if only I had some white paint with me) and parked in the car park next to the Abbey and the cricket club. The cricket club sign is in glorious claret and blue.
On the way home I followed a Daewoo with a Villa badge in the back window for a couple of miles.

On the flowers theme, we have hydrangeas of claret and blue.

Sorry for the massively late response Dave. No, didn't get his name but I could hang around the street until I bump into him. Been there a couple of years and not seen him before or since. If I go knocking on doors will you put up the bail?

Didn't Deadly invite the band to Villa Park sometime during his last couple of years in charge? I seem to recall it was a bit of an embarrassing episode as they weren't at all interested in football.

Alan Mcinally just got mentioned on the Danny Baker show. :)
