Quite a few punters sporting a very natty Hugo Boss Claret Blue and White Polo Shirt on Saturday at West Ham, I cannot find one anywhere any details of the product code or a stockist of said garment in XXL would be greatly appreciated!
Email me at Doolan1982@aol.com
Cheers

XXL!?! What have you been up to Peter!!
-
I think JJAV was after this a few months ago. Or maybe it was a Fred Perry one. Percy and the Mods knew where to find one. Maybe ''Pretty Green'' do them too.
-
I ordered a fred perry one yesterday, too go with my claret and blue trainers :P. http://www.jumpthegun.co.uk/product/M12_Burgandy
60 quid but if you can afford it worth the value
hope this helps

What does "size 36" mean? Is that small, medium or large?

If you're going to shell over 60 notes would suggest boss over perry

Each to their own. I've got a Hugo Boss polo shirt and there's no difference in quality as far as I can see. But Fred Perrys mean something.

The last polo shirt I bought cost me £8 from H & M!!!

Jump the Gun (http://www.jumpthegun.co.uk/product/M12_Burgundy_Black_Navy) here in Brighton have a Fred Perry polo listed as Burgundy which is not too shabby; not too cheap either though.

Here you go, if you can be bothered. I look forward to a reply detailing the cultural significance of the Hugo Boss polo shirt to the British working class.

If you really want to know, click on the 'heritage' link at the top. If not, don't ask. Ticket.

Ok so a concept thought up by an Austrian (albeit after Lacoste) , now owned by the Japs, I'm not sure where you want to take this
-

Where do you want to take it? Are you going to stop supporting the Villa because they are managed by a Frenchman and owned by a Yank?
Not me, because that has nothing to do with how I feel about it.
Now, about the significance of Hugo Boss to the British working class....
-
Fred Perry means fuck all to me other than a few skins and mods (i think) used to wear it when i was a kid, are you speaking for all of the working class now ??
-

Oh, what happened to it just meaning that the wearer is a Weller fan, or were you just being stupid (on purpose that time, instead of by nature)?
Okay, so you didn't read it, never mind. I knew it would mean nothing to you, (thankfully) as you barely seem to have a clue about anything.
-
Good luck to you, if you want to badge yourself up in Perry thats fine
My point was if i personally was spending that sort of wedge on a polo, I'd go Boss all the way based mostly on quality and style, rather than what Fatboy Slim thinks
-

As I said, I have both. It's possible that you have neither, and judging by your post your certainly have no first-hand knowledge of a Fred. The quality is no different, the style is erm.... a polo shirt. And I neither know nor care what Fatboy Slim thinks.
-
Good luck to you, but dont tell me "Perry" clothing means soemthing to +90% of this nation, it really doesn't, its a niche market
-
Good luck to you, but dont tell me "Perry" clothing means soemthing to +90% of this nation, it really doesn't, its a niche market
Of course. Like everything else in Modernist culture, if it was too popular with the masses, it would be disowned.
-
Good luck to you, but dont tell me "Perry" clothing means soemthing to +90% of this nation, it really doesn't, its a niche market
It does mean something though, it has a cachet that other labels would kill for. You don't have to like it but certain brands have a status based on their history that sets them apart. I don't expect you to understand and I don't care enough about you to try and explain, but Percy is right.
-
On balance I prefer to look like a skinhead, mod or Weller fan than a Nazi.
-
We're still talking about t-shirts right?
-
All things being equal, I'd sooner buy something made in the UK than not. I'd certainly not pay a premium for something made for pennies in the Far East. So Fred over Hugo.
Sunspel are the best anyway.

Hugo Boss was a member of the Nazi party.

I recently bought a claret and blue, Lyle and Scott shirt. I will be wearing said garment on Saturday.

I looked for one of them ages ago but couldn't find one. How much are they?
-
About seventy quid if memory serves me correctly. I got it from a shop in Merry Hill called Diffusion.

When you open the link i particularly like the quote 'this is one of those colours that has never gone away'.
-
Could you not just have a t-shirt without someone elses name on it?
-
Bit of useless information, but i remember hearing that when Fred Perry was designing his shirt, his people just took the measurement and the cut off a Lacoste shirt. Also Perry had to be talked out of using a pipe as the shirts logo!
Good to see people using Jump the gun, bought a good few things from there over the years, really good shop, run by sound fellas, worth a butchers if anyones in the area.

Ben Sherman > Fred Perry > Hugo "SS" Boss

Same here. They are the classiest trainers ever...bar none.
i've got a pair too. Adidas Gazelle are class, claret and blue Gazelle pure class. Most comfortable trainers ever, and one of the few pairs of trainers IMO that look good with shorts or jeans.
I've been looking for a white Fred Perry with the claret and blue piping, i saw one a few years ago in London and dithered over buying it, now i can't find one anywhere, anyone any ideas?
-
Only on H&V can a thread about a T shirt turn into a argument.
I personally love Fred Perry & have about 7 I also like Lyle and Scott & Hugo Boss but I can't decide which I like better.....FIGHT
Only kiddin I prefer Fred Perry, But has anyone found this Hugo Boss one yet?

I saw the white one in Hereford but it was £70 & I didn't have the money. I aint seen one since, I don't think you can get it from Fred Perry because it's an old design

There is a very nice claret & blue hooped one on their website, think its £80 though
Oh and it has a swastika on each sleeve
-
I would also buy the Fred Perry one.
-
I could buy five or six T-shirts with obscure band names on them for the money quoted for T-shirts on this thread. Each to his own, I suppose...

I practically live in polo shirts outside winter and have tried a fair number of brands over the years. In terms of quality, Lacoste is hands down the best I have ever owned but Fred Perry definitely won the "Villa look" with their classic claret with sky blue and white piping. The last one I bought was £15 though, admittedly in the days before my beer belly - are they really £60 now? If so, send me a few piccies and I can get them made for a quid apiece over here and flog them to you unsuspecting retro boys in the Woodhall-Mart emporium for 10 of your British Kate Middleton notes.
-
I've had a few Lacoste ones, and they've lasted me years, and kept their shape, wish i could say the same.
Quite like Lyle and Scott, mainly due to the fact that i like the Two Ronnies!

As a kid I used to hate the Ronnie Corbett monologue. Only when I "matured" did I realise the true quality there. I always think of him when I see Lyle and Scott jumpers.
And like you I have one Lacoste which is till in good nick after 10 years.

Try their flagship store in Covent Garden, there's loads more choice there than the shops in Brum etc. I was there in January and bought a Navy Polo with Claret & Blue piping, can't remember if there was a white one though.

Indeed. I've still got three that my last-but-one bird bought me (so that's about 12 years ago), and they're almost as good as new. Mind you, the current Mrs P hates her, so I don't wear them very often.
-
I've a black Fred Perry that faded noticetably at Wembley last year after spending the day in the Sun.
-
Come to this thread late. I own a few Fred Perry garments but can understand why Coopers Thingy doesn't like them, I suspect they don't go too well with his Bono mullet and cowboy boots.

To keep the Gazelles clean you need to give 'em a good soaking them with a good water repellant spray, they will then resist most stains. Then just keep them clean, and re-spray every now and then. I've always found the sun fades the colour out of them though.
Cheers for the link to the Fred Perry unfortunately they are all out of stock.

Two Ronnies were class - apart from the awful song and dance routines. Were you left or right side of the Holte? Tiswas or Swap Shop? I think Two Ronnies v Morecombe & Wise could be another way to segment Villa fans of a certain vintage...

Type in claret and blue fred perry on google, it comes up with that, codes m12 i think

Try eBay for the white fred perry with the claret and blue pipings. I bought a couple at £18 each from this Japenesse seller on there before christmas, worth a go.

Must admit I find Matalan or George to be good for a whole range of colourful polo shirts. Tend to get about 30 of them for the price of one Fred Perry as well .... bargain!

Moncler do a few C&B polo shirts but if you think Fred Perry's are overpriced you'll have a funny turn at these.

And yes, it is a nice top. Nicely filled too.

Fair enough. Is it because of her personality? Do you not think 'Fuck Me Pumps' is sheer genius? I do, but maybe it's because I know exactly who it is written about.

Nope just does not float my boat. Give me Billy Bragg, Dylan, Tunng, Northern Soul, Tindersticks, Kate Bush, Angelics, Dixie Chicks, St Etienne, Cash, Portishead, Clash... who is the song about?

Some good stuff there, quite discerning I'd say. I love Northern, Bragg, The Clash and sixties Dylan, and recognise that, while not my thing, the others are good at what they do. Have you heard the Portishead remix of 'Wild Wood' by Weller? Very good. 'Fuck Me Pumps' sums up perfectly an acquaintance of mine, perhaps I should have said 'exactly the type of person it's about'. It's the woman who quite recently had a very public fall-out with Michael Ricketts. Google it, and give 'pumps' another listen on youtube.
-
The Portishead / Weller mash up is on my Wedding playlist for July (let the party begin!).
Speaking of good versions / mixes Nina Perrsons version of Losing My Religion is quite nice. As not to keep this thread off topic I will post it in Off Topic Youtube videos...

I saw Dylan here in Shanghai a couple of weeks ago and it was a massive disappointment.
Like you I love his sixties stuff but he only played a couple of his well known big hitters, did not engage with the audience until maybe 75 minutes into the evening and at times sounded like Cartman. He is in good nick for his age but as a live act he was not a patch on that other veteran, Leonard Cohen. I was really looking forward to this gig too, as you rarely get anybody of note out here.
To be fair to the big man may well have had to submit a playlist in advance excluding anything obviously rebellious, but it was still a real disappointment.
Some very good stuff on your music selection there, gents.

i've got a pair too.
You'll always get the odd one turn up on ebay

John Lewis in Solihull have a load of Hackett polo shirts - bergundy with blue detailing (blue number 3 on sleeve, chest, blue stripe inner collar) - when i was coming down the escalator i did think they looked like Villa merchandise.
My moobs and muffin top prevented me from getting one but im sure some of your slimmer and younger chaps would look the part in these ;)
-
I haven't read the whole thread but you can get them at selfredges there normally in the racks outside the hb part

Looks like something picked off the floor in George Of Asda.

Is that a fake?
-
Is that a fake?
Most likely. Premium brands are very careful about their distribution channels and only use approved sellers.
It's unlikely an approved seller would flog these for less than half their normal retail price on ebay (as opposed to their own website).
-
Is that a fake?
Guaranteed, 100%, completely and utter fake and they can be brought at car boots for under a tenna - cheap crap that will go bitty and out of shape with the collars curling up after a couple of washes.

It's nicer than our home shirt I reckon.
-
Had a look at that in the club shop. The quality isn't the best and the badge was very low on the shirt.
-
Looks better in the pic than in real life
Went to shop to buy but upon closer inspection decided against it
