Good work Legion. I like the orange dot and wondered where it had gone.

All the nay - sayers.

Villa will not be relegated.

It recent years we've got a pretty good record up there, they've got some of their better players out,so after the nightmare of the last game we really need to pull out a performance like we did at Chelsea.

Please no more defensive cock ups, a battling 2-2.

Or is Gabby going to be played out of position to allow Ashley to also be played out of position!!

Could possibly go:

                  Friedel

Walker  Collins    Dunne   Young

  Reo Coker  Makoun   Downing

       Ashley   Bent    Gabby

But I imagine it's 4-4-2

About as strong as we could go. It will be Young off Bent with Gabby wide though almost certainly. I would actually play the England formation, with Young and Gabby wide and Downing central

We should be going for the win against that line-up.  If we can not beat half of their reserves we don't deserve to be in the Prem.

To be honest, if we continue to play Gabby out wide and Ash down the centre we deserve everything we get.

It hasn't worked and it won't work (hopefully i've just tempted fate) and to continue to do so is madness.

And if, as some say, it's beacuse Ash only stayed if he could play down the middle then we are in far bigger trouble than we actually think as the lunatics really will be allowed to be are in charge of our Clubs future.

Even more stupid when Everton have Beckford, the type of player Carlos would put in his pocket and Dunne would get turned inside out.

Maybe it's a height thing and Houllier just lines them up against the wall and picks the tallest.

I think Houllier is more concerned with the height Everton have at set pieces. As I said, it's a height thing. If Crouch was still at the Villa...

If it is 4-4-2 then it'll be counter-attacking, as Makoun and NRC could then both sit deep. That selection does throw up more questions than answers.

Ash hasnt got his Iphone in his pocket bringing it out to check HoltePaul's logs on Hereoes and Villans.

We haven't had a single chance yet. Granted nor have they, but we are playing a reserve side , we supposed to be "up for it" and their bench sounds like the Tel Aviv under 10's side.

Seriously, the players don't need my support at the moment, they need to show some bloody pride and battle for everything !. If it wasn't for Friedal we would already be 2-0 down !

Well I am showing more commitment than our f.ing players

This is our biggest game that I can honestly remember.

If we go out of this league, we are finished. I know West Ham eventually lost, but they bust a gut.

Blues came out like rockets.

We are just plodding along as if no one cares.

It goes beyond anger, its breaking my bloody heart !

I don't give a shit what Young, Downing, Dunne and all say on the Official web site - sorry football isnt played on a computer.

It's played on a pitch - and as soon as they crossed that line, it was clear they dont give a shit !

I think that goal summed up or season in a nutshell.

Firstly, sloppy to give the ball away, their lad showing more commitment to drive forward, poor decision making from Collins allowing the attacker in on goal and then a weak hand from Friedel.

I'm backing the Villa 100% till the final whistle here, the rest of you can fuck off.

We have had a couple of chances, they have had more.  They deserve to be in front.  Heads will go down now and Everton will see out the second half to win is my guess.

I think that goal summed up or season in a nutshell.

Firstly, sloppy to give the ball away, their lad showing more commitment to drive forward, poor decision making from Collins allowing the attacker in on goal and then a weak hand from Friedel.

Collins had no chance after Walker lost the ball.

Balanced view

Collins missed a header, Beckford went one on one - Friedal saved us

Walker then did the same - Friedal saved us

Walker then did it again - Fridal didn't save us

Young has hardly touched the ball, NRC and Makoun are totally over-run by a three man reserve Everton midfield

And Bent and Gabby - we'' have they actually touched the ball (apart from when they have been off side)

We have one very very half chance from a corner from Collins and that is it.

Balanced view, a mediocre Everton side without Cahill , Arteta, Saha, Fellaini and others (together with  a bench that I give you a fiver if you have heard of more than 3 of them) should be 3-0 up.

And people seem to think that is acceptable !

Even first half - one cock up from out of form players - and soft trickly goal.

442 doesn't seem to be working - Gabby looks ill - though he's trying as usual.

I hope we go 433 in second half - use our England front line - Gabby rested - a midfielder on to complement Coker and Makoun.

We need someone to calm it down and control the play - the ball seems like a hot potato to many of our lads.

Still - where there's life there's hope.  I think we've seen the best that Everton can do - now it's our turn.

So dry your eyes and remember you are villa.

And I want my tenner to pay off.

Jimbo we have made a few mistakes at the back and got punished for one of them, we have had several corners and some oportunities but no cutting edge, I have not seen a lot of fight out there, no one busting a gut except NRC, we look nervous and quiet, we are not out of this yet but we need the next goal

Collins has been poor all game.Beaten far to easily for the goal, and Friedel should have done a lot better.

We have'nt played too badly ,but we don't create enough chances.Probably bring Heskey on in place of Gabby or Bent, and hold the ball up better.

Can't afford to lose today tbh.

Anyone think the experience of Petrov for 45 mins could spur us on. We all know he can't do it for 90 but he'll give 100%, club captain and can retain possession. I'd swap him for NRC. We need to get the ball out wide more and faster too. Then we might get some balls into the box in the hope that the statue Bent might come alive.

Not even close to being balanced.
How about the great run by Downing which saw his shot blocked?
The bit of skill from Young that saw his cross just evade Gabby?
The NRC shot that was superbly blocked?
The succession of corners we had in a very good 20 minute spell after the first 15?

It's not acceptable tat we are losing but I'm not going to throw myself off the roof just yet.

The BBC HT Snapshot from a neutral

"A strange half - Everton quickest out of the blocks without doing too much with their possession, then Villa gained the upper hand but again without creating too many real chances. Against the run of play, Leon Osman slid one home - but this game is there for the taking if either side actually has the confidence to do something about it. "

If only we could be even HALF as good at attacking set-pieces as we are bad at defending them then we'd be in the top half.  We concede so, so, so, so many goals from corners and free kicks but yet NEVER seem to score from them ourselves.  How can this be?  We have had God knows how many corners and free kicks in dangerous positions but yet we've done fuck all from them.  I have a a heart attack every time the opposition has a corner yet if we have one I might as well go and make a cup of tea.  We haven't come from behind to win since Pompey away LAST April yet have gifted so many points from winning positons.  I just don't get it.

Right, rant over.  I predicted 4-1 Villa before hand and said they would score first so..........................................oh well, I got part of it right.    3-1 to us!!!  ::)

At 0-0 Everton were defending so high up the pitch that we were offside almost on the halfway line about 5 times.  An intelligent attacker would give the defender half a yard and THEN make the run so as not be offside or even better so as not to APPEAR offside.  Gabby has the beating of Jagielka and Distin all day so why is he paying off the shoulder? I doubt they'll play such a high line this half.l

It is very simple this is, Ipswich, Charlton, Spurs, Sunderland and England all worked out - just stick the ball in the box anywhere around 5 yrds from Bent and he will score.

Unfortunately, Houllier has tried to turn him into Emile Heskey !

Finally, someone has told the manager and the players how they actually like to play !

Just shore up midfield !!!! - before it is too late

See the difference a goalie who comes off his line makes?  Got to say though - the standard of officials does seem to be slipping.

But if you'd offered us the draw at Goodison we would have taken it.  Another week of training and then let's attack Newcastle - we owe them six.

And as for that penalty decision - typical bloody Houllier.

Laboured football, Le Gaffuer is just a liability.

Dunne and Collins 'hoof it up' merchants.

1 point - we're closer to relegation after not winning against a very much weakened Everton team.

Decent draw. Downing is my man of the match ( and probably season too )

the teams around us are winning now, and have experience of relegation battles, GH lack of ability to make the necessary subsitutes when needed has cost us in my opionin, i am sick of the bloke, i would say wigan and blackpool are defo down, but the other place could be anyone from 14th down, we lack tactics to beat teams, newcastle put 4 in today and i was at the st james game, and the fact is newcastle are good going forward and we can not defend, i do nto think we can beat them

the only positive today was i had a tenner on the match todya with a work celleague and i got the draw being away so i am £10 up  :)
