Title: Dunne banned from driving
Post by: rjp on February 02, 2011, 07:15:50 PM
Grauniad article (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/02/richard-dunne-driving-ban-villa)

Banned for 6 months for going the wrong way up a one-way street.  I imagine that's a lot of £'s worth of car(s) that will be idle.  Anyone know if he has more than the Range Rover mentioned in the article?  Perhaps he'll lend me one.

Was he under the influence of alcohol, or was he trying to get to a chippy as quickly as possible?

6 months without a car, he must be dreading it.  Unless of course he's a Premier League footballer in which case he'll hire a chauffeur or maybe a sedan chair to get him to the shops and back.

The cake shop would have shut if he hadn't taken that short cut. Although with the amount he must spend there every day you'd think they'd stay open especially for him.

Pity the poor feckers that would have to carry the Sedan Chair.

Surely not banned for this alone.  Must be a totting up of points?

Amazing what people will do when they see a sign for 'Free Pies'

Obviously had to walk to Old Trafford last night. Explains the distinct inertia in his body.

Is that what Rooney paid him? Must have been fiver a goal and an extra fiver tip.

It must surely be that no entry sign as you drive up Newhall Street, before you get forced left towards the Hotel du Vin.

How can anyone not spot that and plough on regardless?

Must have been in a rush to get to Gregg's on New St, then.

Wow ... 6 month suspension for going the wrong way??  Your country's traffic laws are brutal!  Something like that here would only run you maybe a $100 fine.  Do they flog you with a garden hose if you're caught running a red light?  :o

No

He already had 9 points on his license.

Basically, something like getting done for speeding will get you 3 points. Unless you're doing, say, 100 plus in a 70 zone, in which case it will get you a lot more.

Points stay on your license for 3 (I think) years. If at any time, you get 12 or above, you get a ban. He got 3 for the no entry thing (and, to be honest, he's driven up one of the busier junctions in the centre of Birmingham against one way traffic, the fuckwit), which took him to 12 and a ban.

By the way, do you still get fifty lashes for doing more than 55 on a motorway over there?

;)

To be fair all the roads around there are confusing if you don't know your way around, Still funny though.

One less knob on the roads for six months.  Result.

No

He already had 9 points on his license.

Does this make him our most prolific scorer now?

Yes ... that's way too slow to be considered safe.  Most people need to be doing at least 75 to keep with the flow of traffic. ;)

Its amazing how many people still try to turn right out of the NCP car park by the Holiday Inn on Hill Street into oncoming traffic.

Can't believe it was six months for just that? The offence is highway code violation and careless only!

Would have been happier if he had been banned from Greggs!
