Nice to see the Neanderthals are at it again.
This really shows the fallacy of leaving our fans penned in. Surely, away fans should be let out first as there are fewer of them to cause trouble especially when there are groups of fans involved who will cause trouble.
-
It's all kicked off up New Street. Fucking scum!
-
They're a disgusting football club. Fucking disgusting.
-
I agree it is very small time but we did exactly the same against blackburn - invading the pitch and goading their fans. They were always going to give it the big one after losing against us so regularly in recent years.
-

Is that what happened against Blackburn or did everyone run towards the Holte?
-
Mickey mouse club and mickey mouse fans- we all know arsenal will piss this cup!
-
I don't think our intentions were the same when our fans went on the pitch.
-
A lot of fans were giving wanker signs to the bburn fans in the upper north.
-
I notice Ipswich fans didn't invade the pitch...
-
Arsenal v west ham final then!
-
Just looking at Sky News footage. We'll get fucked equally if not more for throwing seats back at the knuckledraggers.
-
I still think there fans are morons anybody would think they had won the cup the way they came on the pitch.
-
Dread to think what it's like outside the ground.
-
Maybe myf but our fans weren't throwing lit flares into away fans containing women and children, as blues have just done!
-
Just looking at Sky News footage. We'll get fucked equally if not more for throwing seats back at the knuckledraggers.
No we won't - Blues are responsible for crowd safety as its their ground. Let them have their seats if they wish to come and goad us.
-
And Sky are blaming us for effecting the 2018 bid as Cameron & Prince William are Villa fans. Fuck off.
-
And Sky are blaming us for effecting the 2018 bid as Cameron & Prince William are Villa fans. Fuck off.
???
-
Sky seem intent on highlighting it and making as much of it as possible.
-
If thats what they are like when they win, imagine how bad it would have been if they had have lost,,,, Animals
-
They were throwing flares into our end were they not?
Arseholes
-
Fucking scum. I've always said that's a difference between us and them - they'll pick on anyone just because they're Villa. Firing flares into our end is ample proof of that.
-
1. Blues 'fans' invade the pitch to goad the Villa supporters.
2. Flare thrown into the Villa fans by Blues 'fans'.
3. Blues 'fans' then attack riot Police with seats etc when penned back into their own terraces.
I don't think we are to blame at all personally!
-
Their fans behaviour is inexcusable. Whilst they may have provoked the Villa fans, they had a choice. They didn't have to rip out seats. The individuals concerned are all as bad as each other.
-
There were Villa fans throwing seats back.
-
Just looking at Sky News footage. We'll get fucked equally if not more for throwing seats back at the knuckledraggers.
As it wore on our fans started to go back at them later on with the missiles being thrown at them. I wouldn't say it was that our fans were totally blameless.
I think the fact that our fans did not/were not able to leave the ground added to that as if there were no fans there they would have been no to and froing of missiles as there was.
That said I thought watching it that WMP handled it well.
-

That's true.
I'd have much preferred us not to be throwing seats back at them. Although there is indeed no excuse whatsoever for throwing flares into the crowd.
-
SSN just shown footage of both sets of fans throwing objects outside too. Funny watching two noses try to throw a palet and fail miserably.
-
BBC reporting that it is indeed blose fans pitch invasion and taunting that has kicked it all off...did anyone really expect anything different if they won? Twats...
-
Surely the police cordon should have been much further away from our fans than it was , it allowed blues fans to get to within yards of our fans, sky just shown bad scenes outside st Andrews now- reckon these scenes will be shown over Europe and scupper world cup bid.
-
The Mail are reporting Villa fans lit and threw the flair and SHA just threw it back.
-
Throwing flares into a crowd of people if cowardice beyond belief. Despicable behaviour from despicable fans.
-
The Mail are reporting Villa fans lit and threw the flair and SHA just threw it back.
Would that be the Birmingham City Mail?
-
Anyone seen trouble outside the ground back home yet?
-
Have to be honest, the first footage I saw, looked like it was ours who threw the flare first. I just presumed it was being returned at the time.
-
Copied from my angrily typed FB status in reply to someone else's
yes it's a local derby, but them all running on to the pitch towards the villa fans, throwing flares, incitement to riot, risking injury to innocent fans (and yes there were villa fans throwing chairs etc, and while i'm not defending that, when you come under attack, you'll attack back) but for those who just want to watch a game of football. Fuck the bill shankly quote, it's a football game at the end of the day, 90 minutes of 22 guys kicking a ball up and down a pitch not something where you don't know if you are gonna make it home that night cos some moron with shit for brains thinks it's clever to throw a coin or a bottle or a brick. Life, is ultimately bigger than football. Hope all the actual football fans, villa or blues get home safely
-

Would that be the Birmingham City Mail?
Not quite.
A flare appeared to have been lit by the penned-in Villa supporters and thrown at rival fans on the pitch, who then picked it up and threw it back.

It certainly looks like our lot, SHA forum blames their fans. Either way they are ALL idiots

It is what happened. It was thrown out and back in a few times too.
-
It's the Daily Heil. I'm surprised they didn't add that the sell-out crowd was by virtue of all the illegal immigrants getting tickets by selling their sisters to brothels.
-
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3256108/Trouble-flares-at-Birmingham-derby.html
The Sun have got it as the flare being thrown in to the Villa fans.
-
shite sorry... MERGE pls!
-
No-one knows who orginally had the flares, they were being thrown back and forth cowardly.
I know we say it a lot but it just really proves small heath are tiny club with scumbag fans... that's how much it means to those lowlifes to beat the Villa and that the first thing that springs to their minds when it's full time is to run onto the pitch and go over towards our fans and taunt them - that's the difference between us and them - the pictures speak for themselves. It should of been a joyous moment yet they show themselves up once again because it's in their nature of supporting a shit club to do so because they know nothing else. They really are an embarrassment of our city, aren't they?
-
i was expecting worse than a few flares exchanged INSIDE the ground. If this is all that happened it's frankly a good result; I was more concerned about people getting ambushed in digbeth etc.
knew when all my ott workmates started going on about 'cuddles getting revenge for a slap!1' that I wasn't wrong to laugh. At their utter retardedness.
Bellends.
-
Managed to get out on the final whistle so didn't see the trouble.
Villa fans weren't locked in.
There was a huge police presence outside the away end and as we were dashing out we saw the riot police jogging into the ground. We then got a message that there was trouble.
Our only concern was to get away from there asap. We were home within half an hour of the final whistle as there was absolutely no traffic and we'd parked close to the ground.
Blues fans that we know are disgusted with the behaviour of some of their fans.
-
Maybe it shows just how big a club they think Aston villa are to see the way blues celebrate beating us!
We are to them what maybe man utd are to us.
-
We can kiss goodbye to ever seeing 3pm kick off games between Villa and Small Heath in the league ever again after tonight.
Got a text from a mate at the game tonight - he got beat up outside by a bunch of Noses. Honestly, their fans are a disgrace.
-
They wanted a scrap and got a flare thrown at them for their troubles ( I know 2 wrongs dont make a right but they were asking for it(.

They are.
It would help if their club would do something about them, they seem to condone such bellendability.
-
..and they were so quiet most of the second half

And the police are just as poor - at VP they control things, at the Sty, they can't.

In fairness to McLeish he did come out in the interview and give out about them.
-

Apart from a dozen renditions of Keep right on, Shit on the Villa and Gabby Gabby Gabby (lol, see it worked really well for them tonight) what did they actually sing? And they have the cheek to say we only sing anti-blose songs.
And the flares... very true, if those inbred 12-toed losers didn't storm the pitch I know no seats or flares would of been thrown because there would be no reason too - small heath provoked our fans so if they dar charge us for 'fines' I'd tell them to get lost.
-
a nose just emailed sky sports ..Im ashamed to be a blues fan...........
I cant argue with that ....

There's a lot less they can do when there's a higher ratio of idiots than normal.
Just goes to show how small time they are. We beat them regularly and carry on as normal. When they get they occasional win they act like complete pricks.

Good point, maybe ours actually 'Steward' when they have to - I bet theirs join in.

We know a few Blues fans and they have text us to say the same thing. They are really peeded off with the scumbags.

He didn't get on the pitch though did he? ;-)

We were sitting in the Blose end, as we went with some friends. Came out past the Royal George or whatever the shithole's called. Saw the flare being thrown, and the Noses goding our boys about 5 yards away from each other. The fucking inbreeds are a great advertisement for English football fans, the night before a World Cup is given out. A Nose ran down the stairs at the end, said "'scuse me bab", while lifting his 4-6 year old lad onto the pitch as well. Disgraceful.
-
Can't we just all get along?
-
I have just seen the sky footage on the news.
At that time of night, shouldn't most of those noses on the pitch been in tucked up in bed?
-
When throwing a pallet it is vitally important to go for elevation, rather than distance
-
Just got back. I'm sorry to report that quite a few Villa fans were an absolute disgrace tonight. The bogs at the Sty have been utterly trashed and many seats were ripped up and thrown onto the pitch. Why?
As for Blues, same old, same old.
-

The "smashing the toilets up" tit-for-tat thing will just carry on and on until they board the toilets up at one of these games. That could have dire consequences for all involved.

Dirty protest

The Tilton Road End had no toilets for 25 years.

I hope they get their comeuppance against west ham- and I'm sure the hammers will nail them!

That f*cked up. As has already been said, don't let the scum bags win. They are the minority. You keep going to the match mate.
-
Sorry to hear that Sutton Villa.
Had a call from a Blose fan who said the bloke next to him spent all game throwing coins at the Villa fans, how stupid is it that good money was paid just to do that all game?

They are paying too much JSA these days.

Don't give up football mate, just don't go to the Sty. I've been going to football matches for over 45 years now and the Sty is the only top flight ground I've never been to and never will for this very reason.

Very good Paulie.

This derby is getting too ugly. It has to stop. It's so so nasty. It must be right up there with Rangers/Celtic in terms of vile hatred.
Being from Ireland I just see them as a small time club we should be beating. I know that for those of you from Brum it is very different and they are probably jealous of our big time status. I know to that having to live/work with them after a loss must be hard. But why do elements on both sides have to stoop so low? What the hell is wrong with some people?
-
Sky seem intent on highlighting it and making as much of it as possible.
Surely if the beeb is criticised by rival media outlets (t-sport in particular) for undermining the nation WC interest by showing that panorama programme this close to the WC being awarded, then the same applies to these same media sources not to mention the goings on at blues. Anything thing other is being two-faced.

bollocks to it, I have gash on my nose and damaged pride. I'm 30 years old I dont need this fucking aggro in my life. Football can feck off, I love the villa but that was a disgrace, 25 years I've been going and I dot want to go again
Please, please think again. If the decent supporters stop going, who does that leave?
-
Just back. Unscathed other than a friendly fire seat bounced off my shoulder, can these cretins please stop throwing stuff especially if you are only going to do it about fifteen feet.
I was expecting worse to be honest, a few civilised pints in town, taxi up, a loads of jobseekers in balaclavas bouncing and throwing snowballs at the coppers and that was about it.
The amount of ten stone dwarves giving it the cut throat gestures was quite funny to be honest, Danny Dyer has a lot to answer for.
Oh yeah, the flare definately came from the Villa fans initailly

Danny Dyer is a ******. Sorry I just had to get that off my chest. God I feel better already.
-
I can see there being an away fan ban for our games at the sty for the safety of our fans. They really are the lowest of the low.
-
Just got back.
Before we get all high and mighty about that shower of shit, some of our lot are equally as bad.
Before the game we walked to the ground from the island by McDonalds, there was a heavy police prescence there and by the away end. Between the two we saw about 25 Blose 'lads' looking for Villa fans - with a copper nowhere near them. When we arrived at the away end some of Villa coaches arrived and the goading from Villa fans loud, this despite the fact one of the coaches had had a window put through. We went straight into the sty and nothing really of note happened until our first attack when part of blue plastic seat landed infront of me from the tier above. During the remainder of the first half I gained 63p in coins and three cigarette lighters.
At half time there was a hell of a lot of banging from the segregation panel in the tunnel underneath the stand as they were trying to get at us, or maybe even vice versa.
As soon as the game finished and they invaded the pitch and ran over to us we left and headed for the exits. As we reached the bit where their corner looks over the away fans we got more coins and spit upon us as the riot police ran by again. We were able to leave the cesspit immediately and did so with relative ease and walk back to the city centre.
I have to agree with the comment above about giving up football, I wasn't looking for trouble, i went to watch my team, but the morons from both sides are making this game worse and worse. I know the police get some stick from people but policing it must be a nightmare - especially at that place as segregation is so hard to do properly.
-
I dunno where the 500 coppers were by the way, there must be a doughnut shop near the Sty.
-
I hope we never have to play those cretins in a cup game or night game ever again so we can avoid what happened tonight. All other derbies in this country seem to be very civil compared to what goes on in the Birmingham derby, why is it this derby attracts so many morons? There's lots of morons in every fanbase... but why do people feel the need to completely out-of-order... those fans who ran on the pitch seriously have something then a bit more than a chip on their shoulders when it comes to Villa fans, it's mentally disturbing?
If you wanna fight, go and join the fucking Army and go out to Afghanistan where you'll wake up everyday knowing you could be potentially have an RPG launched at your tank, be shot by one of the Taliban in cross fires, being burnt all over after being in a suicide road bomb, having your limbs being blown off or even being shot by one of your own in friendly fire. Don't be a lowlife scumbag who will never achieve anything in life who runs illegally onto a football pitch when there was no reason and bopping up and down like you're at a 50 Cent concert.
-
everytime we go to this cesspit coins and worse are thrown down from that top tier-----why the F**K dont they give it all to Villa or close it???--when opposing fans occupy The North Stand top tier, the first 4/5 rows are closed off!!
still i guess it merely reflects the official scum attitude to Villa fans,
-
I couldn't understand why they put blose fans above Villa fans. Surely they must realise its asking for trouble.
A pitch invasion at the end of a quarter final purely to hide behind a single file police line and goad the villa fans shows their mentality. Those that reacted by throwing missiles are no better either.
-

could that be an issue to take up with the FSF (Football Supporters Federation)
-
But let's not forget those seats didn't break themselves, the toilets didn't suddenly flood and only one set of supporters sang about a murderer.

The others just have a big banner supporting a murderer.
-
I've just got back home. Despite the obvious aggro, I've got home in one piece and didn't encounter any immediate threat to myself. Keep your head down and you'll be ok.
-
Every club has their share of mindless cretins. Including ours as tonight has shown.
However the percentage of small heaths support that are mindless cretins is very high.
Tonight is absolutely no suprise. They have dragged the name of our city through the mud for decades.
-
Isn't there a ban of sorts looming over Blues from the 1992 Blues Versus Stoke game due to a pitch invasion? Maybe there's another one besides that too, you can never tell with that lot.
Something has to be done about this, kick them out of the competition, whatever..give West Ham a bye. They, as a club need to sort their fans.
-

Give West Ham a bye? The way West Ham and Millwall played up in the League Cup last season was ten times worse than tonight.
-
Just arrived home. Can honestly say i didn't have any trouble all day. Thought the invasion at the end was pretty much of nothingness, a load of youngsters goading from behind a line of police. I sat a few rows back, and at no time felt as if it was "about to go".
Good game, better team lost, story of our season.
-
Got back few hours ago.
Night started in the Aston Social with a couple of scoops and then a nice bloke offered us a lift to the ground. Accepted and we set off and made good progress until the bellended retards who'd decided to walk en-masse from Aston were having to be sheperded up towards the McDonalds Island. This seemed to involve a battalion of coppers, closing every road possible and having every police van from the surroundin six counties in one place. WMP couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. We were going to miss kick off so jumped out of the blokes car and legged it up the road and we were now a good 200 yards in front of the "kettled" mass. On getting towards McD's island a small group of coppers had formed a line and weren't letting some goading blues fans down towards the Villa, we just strode confidently past until 5 seconds later said group of coppers went legging it past us forcing the Blues fans back up the road with a full pelt barton charge smacking everyhting in their path including one poor bloke who happened to be crossing the road at the time!! We walked past the Blues/Zulus who were chanting for a regroup, oprobably about 80-100 of them and carried up the road towards the away end where we went past another line of coppers with about 300-400 Lulu's all chanting and doing the Hoolie bounce. Despite being in amongst all this nonsense not one person paid me and my colleagues the blindest bit of attention. I assume the police kept baton charging them up the road until they all fucked off in the ground.
I left after about 3 mins of injury time knowing what was probably to come and we caught a taxi down by the Ibis with not a comment or word spoken to us and we were back down to the Aston Social in one piece.
There are complete bellends on both sides of the fence in our rivalry which means I won't be going back. Unfortunately our dominance in the city in the late 80's and 90's has meant we've attracted a right band of bellend supporters ourselves who should be ashamed of their behaviour.
-
That really was like going back to the 80's tonight.
I'm surprised nothing has been mentioned about the astonishing scenes at half-time when Villa and Blues were literally fighting each other for the duration of the interval.
And by all accounts it was kicking off all through Digbeth after the game, with fighting breaking out and Villa launching bins through pub windows etc.
Oh, and it was Villa who launched (several) flares.
-
What's going on?
I thought we should all sit together and be nicey-nicey friends.
Cloud fucking cuckoo land.
-
Do the trouble happens in every derby match ? Is it all at St Andrews or both at Villa Park and St Andrews.
Do Small Heath fans cause trouble in other opposition match ie West Brom or Everton

-
A few guys I spoke to this morning claim they definitely saw the flare come from the Blose fans first into the away end and was then thrown on from there.
Not that it's the crux of the issue but still, just thought I'd share that.
Dont really understand all this eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, bog for a bog nonsense either.
What is it about toilets? Are they considered the enemy base or something?
"Yes!We've only gone and destroyed their toilets! We're on their manor, taking the piss!"
-
The toilets in the away end were being trashed before the game. I mean, why bother ?
My mate (a nose) said he saw a firework being chucked towards the Villa fans on the Cov Road after the game.
-
I notice Ipswich fans didn't invade the pitch...
Watching the footage, it didn't look like they invaded the terraces either ? How many were there ? A couple of hundred ?
-
I know it's not funny, and I really shouldn't laugh, but I watched on SSN last night two Blues fans try and throw a pallett over a wall at the Villa fans. They failed miserably.
-
Does anyone know who started chucking the flare....because ive heard that many stories about it,does anyone know the truth....fecking morons whoever it was...

does it matter, both fans should not be taking these flares into the game in the first place... Hope they are named and banned for life...
-
2 things for me:
- they have to get proper segregation of fans at the Sty - you can't have home fans sitting above the away end! It's ridiculous.
- The radio commentator said that alll the police were amassing at the away end, 5 minutes from time. Surely they should have been fronting up to the home fans to avoid the pitch invasion.

Hold on a sec... It was the noses that threw the flares, the villa fans threw them back. What was the alternative? Get burnt so as not to seem culpable?

thats fair enough, I understand.. Im just hoping It was.... Hopefully It can be proved... but Villa fans are not all 100% angels ...

Hopefully, the footage of the incident will be reviewed by the WMP to identify where the source of the flare came from, and lead to a banning order.

A 'nose contact of mine has jut emailed me with:
"I don’t condone the pitch invasion & hostility, but I think you’ll find it was thrown onto the pitch by the away fans and then returned from whence it came…."
(This was in response to my email to him that said "Good to see you lot have finally brought some flare onto the pitch").
-
Win or lose that element of nose support would have behaved like that, its their mentality. What would they have done if the thin police line had suddenly parted? Legged it thats what. Why isnt there a net down the left side of the stand to prevent coins lighters being thrown into the away support. The organisation at that ground is piss poor but only to be expected.
If they put a line of police around all sides of the pitch do you seriously expect that to stop hundreds pouring onto the pitch?
Whats with the smashing toilets thing as well, some folk need to grow up.

Totally agree with you mate, I'm sure you have seen many examples of that too, Blackburn away for example, as have I. But this was a different scenario and although some of our fans reacted badly it doesn't mean that we are to blame. When was the last time we ran from the Holte to intimidate the visiting supporters? Thank the lord we didn't win or else this thread may have taken on an altogether more sinister tone.
-
The flare was lit and thrown initially from the Villa end. Why the SHA on the pitch threw it into the Kop at one stage I dont know although I think it could have been that Cameron Jerome was still on there.
-
Hindsight is wonderful, but I have so say, the policing and Stewarding at the Sty is nowhere near as strong as at VP.
500 'extra' police was not enough, and they should surround the pitch at the final whistle.
Sunday lunchtimes work way much better at either ground.
-
This has to stop now!
The only way is a complete ban on away fans at these fixtures

I might be wrong but I'd guess that its much harder to police the Sty game for the coppers.

I guess at least that's voluntary hooliganism, so agree, it would work to a degree.

Exactly. I made my own way to and from the ground last night funnily enough right past the "Zulu's" who didn't give me a second glance with minimal fuss. Quite why about 300 or so people felt the need to walk together all the way from Aston I don't know but they don't half cause issues for the rest of us. Are people that insecure in their own masculinity that they have to be part of some sort of invading tribe! Pathetic.

Thing is Pauline, do you REALLY like going to the Sty ?
The authorities won't do this, so no need to worry, but it would be a viable solution if applied to games at both grounds
-
No, I don't really like going to the sty, but I don't want to miss a game either.
Only special people should be allowed to attend. *winky thingy*
-
Toilet wreckers: stupid enough to think they're making a statement by vandalising an important facility in Birmingham's ground. Also stupid enough to think that it's an acceptable practice "because they did it at our ground".
Clever enough to know that it's the one part of the ground that won't be covered by CCTV, thereby making any case against any individual unprovable, leaving nothing to stop them coming back and wrecking them again at the next league fixture.
It's like the faceless twat who thinks that hammering on my bedroom door at 3am and running away is funny (I live in halls of residence). Thinks he's the big man but doesn't have the balls to look me in the eye.
I doubt anyone responsible for this vandalism is reading this, but if you are, take a long look at yourselves, and please either wise up or seek professional help.
-
I cannot understand why the police cordon was lined up immediately in front of the Villa fans. Surely it would have been better for them to be lined up across the penalty area line thus keeping a good few yards between both sets of supporters. By letting the Blues get so close it made things worse as far as I could tell.
-
No, I don't really like going to the sty, but I don't want to miss a game either.

I agree.
Why should genuine football fans suffer because of the idiotic minority? How could any football fan even suggest such a thing? I'm sorry but the notion that we should be banned from attending a game of football because of the behaviour of a small minority is ludicrous.
-
Agree with the above.
Terrible night? Yes
Discraceful minority of fans? Yes
Shithole ground? Yes
Will I be at The Sty in January? Absolutely!
-
Before we get too high horse about it, if you watch this:
At around 3:10, you clearly see the flare comes from our end first.
-

Couldn't they have just gotten around the cordon then by going into the two side stands?
-
So what if the flare came from our end first. It was the 1000+ who ran on to try and confront our fans which caused it all to kick off.

Having just looked at the footage I think the whole thing has been a bit sensationalised. A no point did the fans clash. More a bunch of blues kids jumping up down waving thier phone cameras at the Villa. Still not what the game needs.
-
So what if the flare came from our end first. It was the 1000+ who ran on to try and confront our fans which caused it all to kick off.
I know, my point is, two wrongs don't make a right.
Some of their fans acted like absolute fucking idiots last night, but so did a lot of ours as well.
It's harder to claim the moral high ground when we've left the Sty with smashed up bogs (again), seats on the pitch, seats stamped through and god knows what else.
-

But what was our fan doing with a flare anyway? Would he have just took it home and tucked it away in the garage if they hadn't have invaded the pitch?
-
Blose dont have a monopoly on idiots but they do have a disproportionately high percentage considering their small fan base.
-
This smashing up of toilet facilities has been going on for years now. You would think that both clubs would invest in more durable ones to prevent this happening, same goes for the seating in away parts of the ground.

Agreed. Any of our "fans" throwing flares, throwing seats or smashing up toilets are as much scum as their lot. No difference.

It's just sad isn't it?
No point in point scoring, there are idiots on both sides.

I just played back that section of the video a few times (around 3:13) and I'm almost certain that the flare originally came from the Blues end - at the far corner of the kop to the left of our fans as we look at it in the video. The fact that it initially landed among the noses on the pitch (before being lobbed into our end) suggests that the (presumably) nose who first threw it couldn't aim very well.
Anyhow, bringing a flare to throw at a football game is a totally demented, highly dangerous act, and not something I thought we'd see at a ground in this country.
And as for smashing up the bogs - how utterly juvenile and pointless. I can't fathom how that might constitute a "result" of any kind.
-
I still maintain whilst not condoning our behaviour, if they don't illegally enter the playing surface, this doesn't happen. It's that simple. They have forum for it. And whilst we are talking about small time, how small time is it to go onto the pitch for winning a quarter final and anyone notice that despite the hype, they were still 2,000 short of a sell out.
-
Our fans aren't as innocent as some of you like to think. Our fans attacked and ran their fans at the Clements pub after the game, a fight broke out and our fans chased theirs while the rest of our fans smashed the pub up until the police arrived and moved our fans. Our fans ran them all over Digbeth all night.
I'm not condoning violence but it makes me laugh when some people slate their fans for being thugs and blame it all on them.
-
Some observations:
Can folks stop describing people as cretins. Look it up in a dictionary. My daughter was sadly born with cretinism, & is far, far more intelligent than the lowlife from both sides we witnessed last night.
The Guardian are reporting the flare was throwing into the Villa end. A blues fan called WM just after 7 this morning saying they're normally searched before most home games, so can't understand why there was no searching going on last night.
I doubt we will ever play them at any other time than Sunday at noon ever again, which is very sad.

Were you standing by the person who threw it? Could you identify the person?

A couple of Noses got dragged through the door and battered when it was going off at half time under Railway Stand.
It was shocking really, every now and then there would be a surge when the wooden doors opened, but otherwise the metal roller door got kicked to pieces and was just about to come off when the riot police baton charged the Villa fans back.
-
Quite why about 300 or so people felt the need to walk together all the way from Aston I don't know
Safety in numbers, everyone will know someone with a mate who has a tale to tell about being battered when they are in a small group or on there own.
-
It also scared the shit of the Lulu youth. I was in front of the escort and about half a mile further up by Garrison Lane where there were about 80 young tits by the park when they received some moronic refenforcments from up the hill, out of the Beau Brummie. I told a few of them that Villa were coming down the hill and having a go with the police (which they were) and they all melted away once they clapped eyes on the escort and how big it was.
I thought the Police did alright last night, most of them were either shitting themselves or quoting Braveheart, but apart from half time when it was going off underneath the stand, they did a decent job.
-
So what happened underneath at half time?
-

Man United fans spoilt Man City's Blue Moon sing along during the League Cup semi final last year. Man City dimmed the house lights, cue a Blue Moon light show, only to go to all that effort and have it spoilt by some nasty red flares.
-
The 'good' thing about the crowd disturbances is that its taken the 'gloss' away from the win for them. The game is remembered for what happened at the end more than anything and gives us the stick of 'same old Blues' to beat them with. They have lost crowing rights in what should have been a big night for them.

Shit, that's really depressing. Though it did occur to me later on that some tit in our support threw a flare (which actually landed within the Villa end) at Slavia Prague a couple of years back. The only thing I can understand is chucking the thing back if it lands near you - I think it's perfectly natural to want to get rid of it. So the ultimate blame has to lie with the person who brought it in and first lit it. If, as it seems it was, that was a Villa fan, that's a sad state of affairs indeed.
-

-
From what I can tell. the Police did a good job considering their numbers.
-
So what happened underneath at half time?
A large metal shutter seperated the two sets of supporters. Attempts were made to open the shutter, one or two received a slap through intermitant gaps that appeared. Never any danger of the shutter not holding up mind. Sturdy little shutter for sure !!
-

Interesting, didn't realise that had happened. There are some aspects of football on the Continent (the prices in places like Germany, terracing, the relatively young demographic that goes to games) that I would love to see replicated in the British game, but pyrotechnics are definitely not in that category.

Yeh but in the hands of idiots and launching them into fans is really stupid...although blues ran onto the pitch two wrongs dont make a right mate....mugs the lot of them..blues and villa....

This fixture brings out the worst in us, no doubt about that.
A couple of pubs turned over in Digbeth and Small Heath run all over the shop after the game too.

Why did they run on the pitch and start baiting our fans? You've just won and all you can think of is running onto the pitch amd baiting our fans? Imagine what it'd of been like if they'd lost...

You're a bright chap, so why on earth use Danny Dyeresque terms like "run all over the shop"?
It sounds like you're actually proud of it. It's slightly grubby, pathetic stuff which belongs in the 1980s, in my opinion.

I often use the phrase "something-something ... all over the shop". As far as I know, its a Yam-Yam phrase and not a Cocker-ney one.
There was fighting in Digbeth, I'll use the lexis of my choosing to comment and describe it.
-
I overheard a conversation on the train home involving a lad who said he had just finished a shift behind the bar of a digbeth pub, he was saying that there were knives and axes being flashed about prior to the game. I took it with a pinch of salt but reading a few posts on VT regarding the after match stuff I'm not so sure now.

I'm amazed the players came away unscathed.
I think getting rid of away fans at these games would not be the right thing to do; why penalise the good fans for something they didn't do?
-
Did anyone get bleach thrown at them yesterday? Three of us realised when we got back to the coach, there's spots of it all over my coat and jeans.
-
On that video that Paulie posted I'm sure a steward hugs one of the noses on the pitch at about 2:58 in, bottom right of the clip. That's a new way of crowd control, cuddle them back to their seats.
-

Don't know about bleach mate, but my trainers and jeans are covered in some sort of pink dye!
I was on one of Steve Goughs coaches, that had its window put through. We came round McD's island and up the hill, when some big black bloke at the back of the footpath hurled a huge brick at my window. Luckily, I saw it coming and put my hand up. The window shattered and all the glass plus the brick fell into the coach. My mate in front got a nasty gash on his wrist that needed four stitches!

Hi mate,
Good to see you last night!! The stuff I had on my coat turned a rusty colour but funnily enough when I got half way back to London at a petrol station I noticed I had pink dye all over my trainers but I put them in the wash and it was ok. The coat and a brand new pair of jeans are fucked. New level of stupidity throwing bleach.

Just to clear something up, the flares were definitely from Villa Fans and were thrown prior to the match too. Do they not search people at The Sty these days?
Also, the Pitch Invasion was planned on Monday if they were to knock us out of the Cup
-
I think they would have invaded either way.....
Half-time from the Blues side..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Y6-weHA8fM

Did anyone hear the terrible news about an ex blues player getting a real hiding after the match??? You may remember him.. Once lifted his shirt with a message for Villa in some tinpot trophy final at wembley... Couldn't have happened to a nicer fella.

More information please - this deserves it's own thread.

That was the group that ended up getting escorted to Dudeston, there must have been a few 100 people in that escort.
There was an instance where about 4-5 blues fans came walking in the opposite direction to us, one of them gobbed of towards the Villa fans then got set upon as a result. His mate saved him and managed to drag him away.
The police also managed to push the escort right into a group of Blues fans where both sides clashed.

What could be more stupid than smashing up toilets in the away end? Being filmed smashing up toilets. It's too depressing to embed.

You would have thought given the history of toilet bashing they would have put one policeman on duty somewhere "near" the toilets. Or would that require too much planning,

Just out of interest, did they do over the ladies toilets as well? Or did you cross your legs the whole evening and not find out?
-
The ladies toilets were ok at half-time. There was a steward at the entrance when I went in but when I was coming out he'd obviously gone as the men just came barging in to use our toilets.

Ah, so the tactic is to smash up the blokes toilets and then scramble to use the ladies when they realise they've left themselves nowhere to relieve themselves.
It was a lot easier in the Tilton terrace, you just pissed where you were standing. (I didn't, but evidently hundreds of others did).

That's about right. And why, on such a freezing cold night, would they want to be wading through all that water that they created when smashing up the toilets?

That's the answer - a toilet monitor! It used to work at school. Milk monitor was the better job though if you behaved.

A little known fact - Richard Dunne was the biscuit monitor at his school.

Aswell as the cake monitor.

Even Alex Mcleish is embarrassed my the small time Birmingham supporters. His comments are spot on, especially the last sentence. The sad thing is Birmingham fans will just ignore what he says because they think it's 'normal behaviour' what they did.

Hahaha! Love it! He compares their fans to Hereford fans, when they beat Newcastle in the cup, and says "celebrate it but don't make it look as if it's the World Cup final!"
-
So what if the flare came from our end first. It was the 1000+ who ran on to try and confront our fans which caused it all to kick off.
Sorry, no. What fuckwit takes a flare to the ground? What are they going to do with it other than what you witnessed. The Flare carrier/thrower should be locked up.

Quite right Mac. Who knows what damage that could have caused.

Hi - Blues fan in piece
For what its worth, thought our fans at end of match wednesday were a disgrace for running on pitch and gathering enmass in front of your fans taunting / throwing objects
Although saw flare/seats thrown from your side, can fully understand this in retaliation to morons subjecting you to this situation in first place and actually thought majority of people were admirable and did not react.
Apologies personally to any of you caught up in it at the end.
Majority of us blues fans in the stands enjoyed the passion, the singing, all the banter of playing you especially under floodlights but were thoroughly annoyed and disappointed at the selfish idiots who ran on and subjected you all to that experience. \
Chris
-
Just cos someone took a flare into the sty doesn't mean his first intention was to throw it at them - it only came to that unfortunate event because those retards thought it'd be a clever idea to storm the pitch and taunt our fans. Even if we still lost but NOT had those retards on the pitch there would of still been no reason to throw because if he wanted to throw it he would of thrown it in one of their stands; he threw it at the rabble on the pitch out of being provoked because they thought it'd be funny to wind-up our pissed off fans.
I don't mind flares being used, but only being used in the correct way... not throwing them as missiles at opposing fans. It was like some Russian or Italian Ultra's having a ding dong.

The thing is, despite all the bollocks posted on forums, and despite all the bravado from the minority on both sides, most of us are just football fans out to support our respective teams.
We shouldn't need Blues fans like Chris and Bill to come on here apologising, we know the majority of Blues fans are just like most of us!
For fucks sake, we work together, we drink together, we live next to each other, and we all love football. It would be great if we could get this through the thick fucking skulls of the dickheads who have yet again made us all look like arseholes.
I won't hold my breath.

Towards the end it looks like one city fan is having a go at another? Telling him to grow up maybe?

The whole 'running onto the pitch cos we've won our most important game ever' is so Hereford.
Villa fans left watching, penned in like that - it was actually very cowardly.
Blues are Blues, and will always be Blues.

That's the answer - a toilet monitor! It used to work at school.
They should put a bloke in there selling aftershave and what not, that would sort it out and would also provide an extra revenue stream for the clubs! :)

Just cos someone took a flare into the sty doesn't mean his first intention was to throw it at them
Yes, he obviously knew it would snow and thought he would have to help a plane perform an emergency landing at Birmingham Airport a la Die Hard 2.
Or maybe he lives up an unlit street and needed to light his way.
That would explain why he took a flare to the match but never bothered lighting it until the very end where he could lob it at fans because he was provoked.

Tait gave a candid interview for a Blues fanzine earlier this year...
At the time we were a poor side and we had no money. There were no role models to look up to. training facilities were terrible. We would be sweeping terraces twice a week. It was hard. Football was secondary at the time.
we were running out to crowds of 4,000 people. We were getting beat, no one to learn from. Also I could remember looking around, thinking, don’t throw your litter there, I’ll have to pick that up on Monday! As it blew across the Kop I was thinking about it taking longer to do!
I turned down a contract at Blues because I wanted to see what my options were at the end of the season. Then I did my knee in and broke my leg at Leyton Orient two weeks later, actually I shattered my leg. It was horrific.
I’ll tell you if I see Lou Macari again he’s going to get a flying head-but, and you can put that in! I hate him – he really dumped on me. Some of the things he said to me were unbelievable. It was made worse being ex-Celtic. My Dad and I are big Rangers fans!
My parents had split up and I was mixing with people I shouldn’t, he got me moved to Solihull away from bad influences.
He took us to Dunstable for pre-season training. He made us run up heartbreak hill – called it because it broke your heart trying to run up it.
we would often scare our opponents in the tunnel before the start head butting them and all that. It was mad! We used to rough players up, and get into their faces. Obviously it would be frowned on now.
Can you give us an example? I don’t want to drop anyone in it. But I can remember one of our players head butting one of their centre forward. We all steamed in. We beat them in the tunnel AND on the pitch!
I got moved and converted into a midfielder by Dave McKay because I was the best runner... I hated it... I fell out of love with football for a while because of playing in the middle.
Danny phoned me up and said have you seen Heros and Villans. I said no what’s that, and he said it’s a Villa website and there are 14 pages of hatred towards you. So I joined and started winding them up and they banned me. Mind you I was a bit off the rails at the time!
Looking back though, I don’t regret it. It’s made Blues fans happy and I’m a Blues fan. I don’t particularly like Villa so there you go.
I was often in trouble with the Police. I was a bad lad. I was often knocking about with the wrong sort and the club said I had to stop being seen with hooligan elements. But I found it tough because I grew up with them. I know I should have done, but I can’t forget where I was bought up. I always went drinking in rougher pubs.
Part of the problem was that Mick Mills and I hated each other. I lost the plot in the end, I had to get away otherwise I was going to attack him.
I said I don’t like Wolves, I don’t like Villa and I don’t like Celtic. I wasn’t going to play for anyone just for a few quid!
Scotland approached Trevor asking him to confirm that my Dad was Scottish because they were interested in me playing for them... I said if you think I’m singing flower of Scotland at Hampden, you’re mistaken.
It was Gary Ablett’s birthday. None of the players knew. The thing is the chef was wearing a Villa top. He made a bee line for me and made some comment about Villa and Blues so I attacked him. I’m chasing the chef into the kitchen.
I have bought into a coaching company and have my own now. Midland Soccer Coaching kids all over the Midlands. Got about 500 kids. I take them to the Albion academy because they get well looked after there. Blues are poor with the kids to be honest in my experience.

Isn't it just possible that a Villa fan went to the game intending to raise a flare in celebration? I would have thought that more likely than taking something with the primary intention of lobbing it in defeat.
Don't get me wrong, he shouldn't have taken it, & he certainly shouldn't have thrown it, but it's a bit of a leap to assume it was the intention from the outset.
-
Bit annoyed that the Birmingham Mail site is running the video and condemning villa fans fro wrecking toilets at the game, while there is not a jot of a mention that the blues fans did the same during the league game at Villa Park.

and perhaps in his other pocket he had a knife, just for protection you understand.
-
Don't think that's a fair comparison. A flare 'could' have been used to create atmosphere. Unfortunately the twat used it as a weapon. A knife serves no other purpose at a football match, other than being a weapon, self defence or not.

You go to alot of away matches Amfy, including against Blues. How many times have you seen Villa fans celebrating with flares. I know the same argument can be turned around on throwing them as well but this is the first time in 7 years that we have had a late night, drinking all day match with them.
They are such a rare thing in British football and on being on the recieving end of flares at Milan I always take the worst view on them.
-
I don't mind flares being used, but only being used in the correct way...
Indicating to nearby boats that you're in need of assistance?
-
No but it was a big game - How many times have we all hel up claret and blue cards spelling out "The Holte End" before a game? Just the once - the first time we played them at Villa Park.
Maybe I'm coming from a different perspective because I see them during dance acts at festivals all the time, and they are only used to add to the occasion. Of course they are stupidly dangerous in crowds which is why they are rightly banned - but my perspective is that a Villa fan didn't go to that game PLANNING to lose, and if the flare was there for the purposes of trouble, then there were opportunities before then to throw it.
I would say the reason he still had it on him at the final whistle was that it was there to be lit for our winner - which never came. At that point it was only a short step for someone daft enough to take a flare to a football match to decide to throw it at oposition fans who were pissing him off.
-
There were flares lit in the North Stand when we beat them last season... done in celebration, not thrown at small heath.

They were horribly racist (much more so than Villa) in the late seventies, right up until they got a few black lads in their firm that all the racists were scared of.

Cant see how such eye for an eye guerrilla type tactics does either club or the image of the City (as a whole) any good at all imo, but suppose someone somewhere will be able to rationally explain it for the masses to understand.

A font of oh so clever knowledge ( again).
Sarky is NOT clever - it's fucking stupid.
Dictionary.com describes the use of sarcasm thus:
In sarcasm, ridicule or mockery is used harshly, often crudely and contemptuously, for destructive purposes. It may be used in an indirect manner, and have the form of irony, as in “What a fine musician you turned out to be!” or it may be used in the form of a direct statement, “You couldn't play one piece correctly if you had two assistants.” The distinctive quality of sarcasm is present in the spoken word and manifested chiefly by vocal inflection ...[9]
Hostile, critical comments may be expressed in an ironic way, such as saying "don't work too hard" to a lazy worker. The use of irony introduces an element of humour which may make the criticism seem more polite and less aggressive. Sarcasm can frequently be unnoticed in print form, often times requiring the inflection or tone of voice to indicate the quip.

That definition doesn't suggest in anyway that sarcasm is "fucking stupid", so why did you post it?

Hostile, critical comments may be expressed in an ironic way, such as saying "don't work too hard" to a lazy worker. The use of irony introduces an element of humour which may make the criticism seem more polite and less aggressive. Sarcasm can frequently be unnoticed in print form, often times requiring the inflection or tone of voice to indicate the quip.
I don't think it'll help your grumpiness but my comment was more sardonic than sarcastic.
I'll leave it up to you if that makes it any cleverer or not.

Bit annoyed that the Birmingham Mail site is running the video and condemning villa fans fro wrecking toilets at the game, while there is not a jot of a mention that the blues fans did the same during the league game at Villa Park.
Me too, how on earth did this get on Youtube ?
Ooh, I know this.
Someone uploaded it there.
You know that anyone can upload anything they want onto YouTube?
A font of oh so clever knowledge ( again).
Sarky is NOT clever - it's fucking stupid.

There was just no point in making that comment at all, was there.
I (as in me) am amazed that people can take video pics of such goings on and then put them on Youtube to, in effect, incriminate themselves and / or other Villa fans.
Seems a bit mad to me, but maybe you can see the bigger picture - in a sardonic / sarcastic way.
Cerebral you are, cerebral.

I think most people would agree with you and be suprised (if not amazed) that people can be sufficiently dimwitted to put things like that on youtube, but your original post seemed to be expressing surprise that it was possible to do so.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people, I guess.

I do think that the 'we trash your bogs, you trash ours' is getting a little mad.
I am noticing a lot of yobbery being Youtubed up lately though - it's the latest way to show off I guess.

Quite. You can just imagine these Neanderthals chasing Shaggy and Scooby down the road and being done with the old 'dress up as chefs and build a giant sandwich' trick, whilst said simpletons stand there going "Huh?", scratching their large foreheads.
Utter fuckwits is what I'm trying to say.

I wonder who will be first to say "we shanked your boy Armitage!"

A suitable anthem for the bog busters?
A prophecy for a fantasy
The curse of a vivid
mind
Don't push too far
Your Dreams are china in your hand
Don't wish too hard
Because they may come true
And you can't help them
You don't know what you might
Have set upon yourself
China in your hand

And it remains that 99% of people on H&V are good people.
Cooper is an exception.
I've always wanted to be an exception.
Does calling me by my surname make you feel all hard? (oh err missus)
