Regardless of how UEFA view it surely we’re still massively within our agreed thresholds?

The whole thing is confusing me. Even at the supposed transfer value of £42m or whatever, surely that is easily proven as fair market value. Similar to what he went for 12 months ago and despite a disappointing season, he's still only 22.  And I don't get why we'd want to inflate his fee artificially either. Surely that would only help Chelsea?

The idea of the loophole is that Chelsea overpay for Rogers, we overpay for Garnacho, we both get to book the entire fee onto the accounts and the outgoing fee we book over the length of the contract. I think.

OK, ta. Can see how Rogers' fee could be argued to he inflated  (although less so if there is evidence that we were trying to hold out for the reported £130m) but I think Garnacho's reported fee feels solid.

Given the Anderson transfer, I don't think Rogers' fee could be seen as inflated, especially as the £130m was out there in the public domain as a club aspiration.
The Garnacho fee actually looks high, which would suggest that the agreed valuation on Rogers (of £117m) is overblown.
It feels to me like we're being tonked (c.f. Maatsen).

We don’t half get some very silly posts on here. I can’t believe the outrage from some for signing a very good player, who only 22. The baggage or evidence to say so is very minimal.

I can’t be arsed to trouble my own mind with the finances, it’s far too complicated and we’re too far out the loop.

I’d rather trust Emery to get on and do his thing and if he can reignite a young players potential, which two years ago was phenomenal, then we may have a major signing about to play for us.

He’s showed enough at his tender age to show he could be lethal on the wing. He has pace, experience and he’s ready to go.

I’m probably far more concerned about losing Konsa than getting my knickers in a twist over Garnacho.
