We were light last season, there is no way we don’t add more. We are a centre mid light with one coming back from serious injury and one out for 9 months, we are a winger light, and have no full back cover.

This is hugely underwhelming, another pet project to supposedly help cover the gaping hole that our two most creatively important players leave behind. There has to be more, we have sold so much and spent so little over the last couple of years.

Hopefully there will be an explanation on the financial ramifications at some point, as with talk of an obligation to buy, this looks suspiciously like a swap deal.

Some of the reports have talked about the deal for Rogers being smoothed along by the good relationship between the respective owners. Maybe that makes this thing more likely. If we ended up not being able to get full value from selling Rogers because of some back room chumminess with the owners it would be a massive error.

Plus are we risking UEFA scrutiny over it if the obligation terms are too lenient?  It would just be us that deciding to sell our prize asset to solve the SCR issues got diluted because we made a stupid loan deal for an absolute twat!

You'd hope that whatever deal they agree from Garnacho, the structure of it would be run by UEFA and approved.

To get £117m in and then still be under the restrictive framework would be pretty negligent.
