It doesn’t really. It sounds more like us being interested in the player, but unsure on where his head is at, and using a loan as a test.
That’s not very smart as SCR compliance for UEFA is a major issue.

Why is not punting money upfront not smart for SCR compliance?

I did suggest after Morgan was off to Chelsea that we may do business the other way.
No big surprise that we are.
Garnacho has run us ragged before I hope he can do it consistently to our opponents, he definitely has the ability.

As there is 45 days to avoid it being considered a swap deal.

I'll give anyone a fair chance. And if he's good enough for Unai; he's more than good enough for.me.

Great cheekbones too

Not for me, Clive.

But we need wide options with pace, so I guess he meets that criteria.

Is loaning him more problematic in that regard than signing him outright?

I don’t think that applies to loans.

Depends on the difficulty of hitting the conditions.

As it would trigger too quickly or something else?

The rules say something like* “if the conditions cannot be met with a degree of certainty” it’s considered a loan, and therefore not a swap deal. Whereas if they’re easy it’s considered as a transfer. In which case, I’m not sure how the Elliott deal wasn’t considered a transfer, unless it’s a new rule.

I've watched his highlights reel. He can be electric and certainly has pace and trickery. Hopefully Unai can help him get back to his best. Don't forget Garnacho is probably still scarred from Amorim's shite management at Manure, plus a succession of useless managers at Chelsea. I must admit I'd like to have seen Summerville sign for us. But tha Saudis have paid a ridiculous £68m for him. Essentially a pub League over there. Oil money talks.

Presumably the Elliot deal wasn't considered a transfer, because we didn't end up buying him. But it would have been if we had have done?

Erm… we didn’t sell Liverpool anyone, so the swap deal transfer rule wouldn’t have mattered.

I think we’ve done some kind of deal with Chelsea regarding Rogers and us taking one of their rejects. This is going to happen isn’t it, they just need to circumvent whatever rules there are…
