That would be gob-smackingly cringeworthy, if true. Going to our first European final for over 40 years and singing about another club - ANY other club - is embarrassing  enough, but taking the time and effort to incorporate some slur against them in a flag design is unbelievably small-time. And people claim THEY'RE obsessed with US? I sometimes think a section of Villa fans and a section of Blues fans deserve each other.

I like that we hate the Noses and they hate us, despite the wild disparity (and obviously because of it). We're a much more interesting club because of the minnows who surround us and very occasionally for a limited period, get to play us.

I've sang about the Noses watching us play in Europe on a Thursday/Wednesday/Tues night along with the rest of the away ends since August 2023. People are obviously entitled to think singing a catchy little ditty is cringe. I think the faux objection to pretending we're the only club above it all is silly. Because we're not and what a dull existence it would be without the B9ers or even the B71ers. I don't gove much of a hoot about Coventry, but it will be fun receiving all that hate. I doubt it will be quite Highfield Road given its so far out of town.

Sport is competion, its rivalry, its having fun, especially at your neighbours expense. I cannot say that rivalry would ever energise me enough to make a flag about the supposed Gypsy's Curse that Barry Fry had to exorcise it by pissing in every corner of Mordor, but again, each to their own.

No worries, turns out it might not be the one we've been charged for anyway

I don't get it and never will! But, as someone said the other day, it's a Birmingham thing and I'm not from Birmingham, so fair enough.

Then you'll have never drunk in town. Much like we don't.

And if you get that, you'll hate the Noses. If you think its weirdly cryptic, then perhaps not. You might not share in that loathing, but it should be understandable.

Well, not really! I don't really hate anyone. But I'm really not out to try and change anyone's mind about how they show their support. I just found that taking that loathing to Istanbul on a night which was all about Villa a little tragic.

I live in Birmingham. Sometimes I drink Up Town. I'm not too keen on Small Heath. I think singing about them at a European final is ridiculous.

No you're just calling people cringeworthy because they do something different to you.

I like that they exist. I can probably only name you one player and the name of the Pontins Rep who fronts them and AI generated images of fantasy stadiums aside, that's probably as far as it goes. But I do like our rivalry and I am glad it exists and in the manner it exists.

And I don't. Oh what a night was sung everywhere since Hibs. But each time their own.

No, that's not correct.

It's clearly your (and everyone's) prerogative to support Villa as you want but obsessing about Birmingham City to the extent that you'd drag them into our greatest victory for 40+ years is just another item on the list of things which suggests we wouldn't get on.
