I don't know about anyone else, but I always observe the two minutes silence and use it to think about any poor sod who has been sent off to war and never came back. It's not about pride in anything, it's an act of humanity towards everyday people who had to go through something terrible.

I don't restrict my thoughts to those who were English or British or whatever, but to all the poor bastards.

The people who try to adopt it for their own ends or see it as some big ugly pro-England thing that needs to be scrapped are completely missing the point.

Stopped wearing a poppy even before I left. Were I to go back now I'd probably wear both a red and white poppy because I'm a massive hedging twat.

I'd wear one around Remembrance Day.  You've got to go through some pretty convoluted hoops to see anything bad in that.

Not really. Since the very beginning the question of whether or not it means 'remember the dead' or 'honour the fallen' (shall we say) has been a live one.

Right.  Who cares?  It's Remembrance Sunday.  I don't need to spend any time thinking about the semantics of whether I'm remembering or honouring those who have died in war.

Who cares about the difference between commemoration of a slaughter and glorifying war?

Neither are glorifying war.  It's remembrance.

Fucks sake, this is why I avoid off-topic.
