Why do we have everybody back at free kicks leaving them to have nobody marking on the edge of the area?

If we get a new set piece coach then they need to work on defending them too rather than just scoring from them. MacPhee didn’t address that issue either.

Pre-seasons are about whether young players can step up  and so far Lynch  and Hemmings have got the makings  from what I’ve seen so far

Defending set pieces is a lot harder. But we could start by not giving the ball away in our own third and then conceding daft free kicks, throw ins close to our box. That’s what has done us twice today.

Hopefully Madjo on 2nd half. The kids are playing okayish but suffer the same as the squad with needles sloppiness. Luka Lynch looked decent for 15 minutes. Bizot, still doesn’t fill me with confidence although he appears confident.

The kids were excellent. What an experience for them. We created problems for ourselves and more often than not it was a senior player who was sloppy. I thought we controlled large parts of the half. With our SCR issues and more potential worrying  injury news we might need these youngsters.

It’s a friendly with a load of inexperienced players. I honestly wouldn’t be expecting loads right now.
