It's their annual presentation of the new players and squad match. Free or super cheap to their 174,000 socios, lots of Porto supporting immigrants returning for their summer holidays, the game was declared sold out a few days ago.

Villa fans I've spoken to had already booked flights but both Porto and Villa had failed until today to get their act together regarding away fans. Porto will be playing their best XI, we'll probably play the kids again.

Maybe Villa when accepted the game they could have confirmed about tickets for our fans. The club announced the game on the 8th of July. 15 days radio silence then announce the tickets, two days after Porto declare the game sold out and two days before the game. Today on the OS they've gone from 'nothing, 'coming soon', 'tickets available', 'sold out' and now 'coming soon' again.

Bit of a stupid comment to make when we don't know the full story. I'm not defending Porto, hate them more than Benfica but I get the idea somebody at Villa pissed off for their holidays and only now realising what a cock up they've made.

For the sake of argument, you seem to be implying its the clubs fault without knowing the full story.

Just sharing my experience on the OS trying to get tickets. Others I know wanting tickets equally frustrated at the poor service. Most of the above was for entertainment and a way to get my frustration out. It's been a bloody nightmare.

But you're right, it is 'the clubs fault' (plural). I spent over an hour yesterday calling up Porto and even had a go at their useless WhatsApp which is bloody automated. I've never done twitter/X so couldn't try the Villa ticket account but by all accounts there has been silence until this morning. Maybe it's low priority as there's no money to be made if tickets are free. Who knows? Your guess is as good as mine.

I've never known the club put tickets on sale two days before a game, never mind an away one. If i had to guess, I'd say Porto shenanigans were afoot but like you said, who knows?

I don't blame Porto for giving us 250 tickets - it is their party after all. I've got no idea why it's taken so long to get them but the Villa ticket office might as well get the blame because it's usually their fault.
