Worried for Amadou, I did see him smiling with the team after the game so hopefully the brace and crutches are precautionary, but it didnt look good.

I don’t think the Balagun fiasco did the US any favours.

Balogun didn't really do us any favors in the game either. Both him and Pulisic looked pretty pedestrian

I also miss the old days when we had world-class goalkeeping.

US 👋

Excellent. Right, bed. A superb 24 hours or so of football.

Yep, some excellent results lately. The Evil Empire thrashed by a previously poor Belgium.

Think all Trump and Infantino ended up doing was firing up the Belgians.

Think all Trump and Infantino ended up doing was firing up the Belgians.

And caused distraction for the US team. It's a metaphor for Trumpism as a whole really. For all the braggadocio about "winning" what you're left with is chaos and, ultimately, embarrassment and shame. That's assuming Republicans are capable of the latter.

Quansah appeal has been submitted.
Wrong decision. Just accept it and get on. If they suspend it it will legitimise the Balogun decision.

FIFA already legitimised the decision by making it in the first place. At least when they changed the rules to allow Ronny to play (Martinez must have been happy with that), several other players also benefitted. Now, they have to also suddenly start suspending red cards a lot which makes the World Cup even more farcical, or they don't in which case it shows it up for the fuck up it was. I heard France even now appealed on a yellow card for Olise. I expect it being two big FA's within UEFA might not be a coincidence.

He will be trying to invade the Belgium Congo for security purposes.

(and before anyone mentions, most of his other ideas come from the 50's).

Would have liked the countries still involved threaten to pull the pin unless Infantino resigns. Now that would have caused a stir.

After Belgium scored their fourth goal several of their players were pictured dancing in a style similar to the 'Trump dance' - where he rocks his hips and slowly pumps his arms - which gained notoriety during the 2024 US presidential campaign.

The official Instagram account for the Belgium national team also appeared to mock the debacle, posting a picture of striker Romelu Lukaku cupping his ear with the caption "overturn this".

Iran also took a swipe at the US and the Balogun incident, posting a screenshot of their draw with Belgium beside the US's heavy defeat on their official website.

The screenshot was accompanied by the message: "Now the whole world is dancing for the humiliating defeat of politics against football".

The US' head of homeland security Markwayne Mullin previously said he "danced a happy dance" when Iran was eliminated in the group stage, as Iran had their own World Cup participation marred by visa and travel issues because of the US's war in Iran.

"We really like the name Mark, but we also want to signal to the world that he's a cnut. It's a quandary."
"What about Markwayne? I know it's not a name but it does the trick."
"Aw, what a terrible baby! I hate you, Markwayne!"

Americans do have a track record of doing shit name merges, usually in the Republican states. I did a quick check as I expected him to have been born in Florida, but it was Oklahoma.
