Could someone with the know-how post the goal(s) scored by Villa players at the WC please. TIA.

The late great Peter McParland scored 5 goals for Northern Ireland in the 1958 WC.

David Platt 3
Ray Houghton 1

No, no, no, do it the Small Heath way. Any player who has ever played for us. Even if it was just one game on loan and no one remembers.

Bono is older than Emi.
I’ve been quite impressed with the Moroccan kid Bouaddi.
Vitinha vibes. Pretty much Controlled the game.
Could be this WC's Amrabat.

He was really impressive. Ridiculously confident at 18, I suppose in a way that only an 18 year old could be.

I was shocked they gave Vini Jr MOTM, a good goal but not much more. Bouaddi on the other hand..

I've been struggling to name the player he reminds me of with his long hair and floating around, an Italian 1980s or Argentine 78? Fernando Couto would like it to be him but he lacked the grace.

A bit later and having not seen the match but what about Fernando Redondo?

If Mario Kempes was a midfielder.

Wayne Rooney must have one darn fine agent, to have become the Beeb's number one football pundit at a time when he is still barely able to string together a sentence.

If people hate punditry so much why do they keep watching it?

I'm as English as you can get,  but that rendition of Flower of Scotland was spine-tingling stuff. Wish we had something similar: the generic UK national anthem doesn't cut it!

(BTW, I didn't vote for Brexit!)

The cricket team uses ‘Jerusalem’ I wish the English football and rugby teams would follow suit.

Doesn’t seem to make sense using The British national anthem for England teams.

No it isn't. The punditry comes along with the games, and it's not unreasonable to expect a level of comment that's insightful and coherent. These other games threads are full of people commenting on what pundits have and haven't said, and the quality of the individuals undertaking such a role, so I don't know why I've effectively been told to pipe down.

The mute button on the remote is your friend.

Nonetheless, even though the sound was muted, I was somewhat distracted by Gary Neville's quiff being buffeted by wind in Noo Yoik on the opening day.
