England showed their strengths and weaknesses.
They're a very powerful side and irresistible when the game is centred on fast ball transitions, hard running and aerial duels.
But positionally, they remain a level below the best sides.
Croatia, without being brilliant (though I do generally like the style of their game) and while packing far less talent, did put their finger on a few weaknesses.
It was notable, for example, that when building attacks, they first slowed the game down to walking pace, much to the frustration of Rice and Bellingham. Then they picked a pass. It was a very effective approach in the first half.
Overall, England were much the better team. But as with the French, you caught half a glimpse as to how they might be beaten (which in England's case, is the same old same old).
Rogers through ball was sublime. Rashford is a thoroughbred. Konsa looked like the senior pro next to Stones.
