Had Emi scored this it would have been our goal of the season. What a move from start to almost finish.

Beautiful writing Exigo. Have you published that anywhere else? I was looking for a link to an article at the bottom of your post before realising it was actually your work. Really well written.

It would of been ‘the’ goal of the season. If only the little big man had squared to Watkins. Such incredible football from our incredible team.

Thank you for all the posts on here. My heart is full with the joy and pride being expressed - capturing how I feel.

Born and raised in B44, I was at Highbury in '81, age 15, then Rotterdam in '82. I was also at Wembley in '94 and '96 and at god knows how many final and semi-final defeats over the last 40-odd years.

I've lived in Bristol for over 30 years and what made Wednesday night really brilliant was being at the game with my eldest son. He's a Bristolian, living in London, and he absolutely gets what it means to be part of the Villa family.

Our unique name, our colours, our history, and the proud but self-depracating Brummie outlook. He'll be 30 in October, so the other night was the first time in his life he's been there to witness something that I've had the privilege to enjoy over the years.

I hope, possibly even expect, we are set for more of the same for the next few years. Maybe not, but right now, I could not be happier. UTV.

Thanks for all the lovely comments, glad it struck a chord with so many of you.
I'm hoping to get it published soon on Terrace Edition, but I wanted it here first and foremost. We were there, all of us.

Wonderful night where we went from worrying about being level at HT to suddenly having a totally comfortable lead.

The precision in the McPhee-inspired corner was really something else. I make that four goals from corners in the last four games of the season.

Well done, those who were there!

I noticed Stuntpegg was in Istanbul as she released a sponsored short for Flixbus. Hopefully she is doing a full video.

The pitch side film is well worth a watch - I got a terrible bout of hayfever at one point

With half of it being the celebrations and in the locker room, there was footage I hadn't noticed. Wes and Nassef doing a trophy run-up to the crowd. The players getting the fans left to sing a chant. The jubilation in the changing room.

Some good facts on the game on Pravda.

https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2026/may/28/uel-postmatch-interesting-facts-behind-villa-s-europa-league-success/

I particularly liked the bolded bits.

Quote
Overall, the Villans won 13 matches in the Europa League proper this campaign, the joint-most of any winning team in the tournament's 17-year history under its current guise, with the exception of qualifiers.

This record saw them ensure they still have the most wins of any side in European competitions since start of the 2023/24 campaign (27), which will be levelled by Paris Saint-Germain this weekend should they defeat Arsenal in Saturday's Champions League final. Villa's 17 clean sheets in that time is bettered only by the Gunners.

For those one person who will be supporting Arse on Saturday, we need to hope PSG don't win to go level with us.
