One unsung bonus of being in Europe is that from Mostar onwards, we seem to have made a lot of friends in other places. Fans actually ambassadors for the city. With a few exceptions (Warsaw and Maccabi) it has been such a positive experience, win or lose. It makes the world a little more tolerable.
Big shout out to travelling villains.

Oh, and despite my being a heartless, angry mongrel, there was another bit that tugged at my heartstrings before the game.

Did anyone else in the fan park see the ticketless lad find out his dad had gotten them tickets? He was absolutely made up, hugging his dad and over the moon.

What football is about.

Hope the chap who posted earlier in the week regarding his son's expired passport and his family still had a great night.

Apart ftom one instance of Villa fans being twats it was pleasing to see so many of us and Freiburg being massive credits to our clubs. I doubt that there's any cities that we've visited the last few years that wouldn't welcome us back with open arms.

Its still not really sunk in yet.

Flicking through the stamps in the passport putting it away- an awful lot of memories over 3 seasons now culminating in that. The 2nd half was a blur and we knew, so a long build up to one of the best feelings I've ever had seeing McGinn lift the trophy. A bit like the last time I saw us winning one, aged 9, battering the daylights out of Leeds.

I really hope it's the first of many.

Has anyone seen the clip of Prince William in Cornwall yesterday, talking to the young lad (also a Villa fan)? He was asking the boy if he liked his claret and blue shirt/tie combo, and also said he was sat with Elmo, who was up celebrating before Youri even hit the ball, as he'd seen them practising the routine in training, and he could see it was unfolding perfectly.

It appeared in my feed, and now I can't find it again, sorry!

Yeah, it really reminded me of the 96 final. Like then, we were simply a much better side than they were and they just couldn’t cope with us.

I am very much looking forward to the social media clips of the players arriving for training today...

Sunglasses all round.

And one pair of Ski Goggles.

Another great thing about this trophy, is that for years our players have walked down the tunnel past the trophies of other eras.

Now they can go into matches walking past one they have earned. If that doesn't give em a little boost each home game, I don't know what will!
