 Classic old school away performance.
Nice 2 goal cushion.
We never got close to getting out of 2nd gear.
The only negative was Rogers.
Blimey he was truly awful.
He gave away virtually all the balls he received.

Rogers tries to do too much. Always trying to wriggle out of impossible situations on his own instead of playing a simple lay-off. The rest of the time he looks lethargic. Worrying.

Its not worrying. Hes a young player going through a sticky patch but still showing glimpses of quality.

If top money offered for Rogers I would be taking it, he occassionally does brilliant things but not often enough, his first touch is dodgy and he is not quick. This is just not about tonight performance but all season, when he is on it he is brilliant but top players are consistant most of the time. Relieved with the win but we need to play better the last few Prem games left.

Rogers is overrated, to inconsistent, one good game every 6/7 take the £100 Millikn, spend half of it on Rowe, we have an upgrade already with money to spend.

Play like we did in the first half and still win 3-1, away from home, in Italy. They should stop the competition right now and crown us as Champions, there's just no need to prolong the inevitable.

We played better in the second half but Steve Bruce would be proud of wor efforts tonight. A classic BruceBall smash and grab.

We shouldn’t accept a penny less. He’s a 23 year old full England international who likely starts at the World Cup. If Cole Palmer, as an example, a lesser player in my opinion, left Chelsea that’s precisely what they would want for him.

Matty Cash must still be chasing Rowe in his dreams , he looked a very good winger - lots of pace and skill

Martinez was very good and made a fantastic save, thought Torres was also very good.

Roger’s was poor, he needs a goal to get his confidence back.

Looks as though we will be playing Forest 3 times in the next few weeks - hopefully we can get to the final, but it will be tough

I think Palmer is a better player.
Rarely gives the ball away , Rogers the opposite.

Nonsense.

Indeed - Rogers isn’t in great form, but he’s really fucking good. He’s shown that for Villa over a period of time, and has been absolutely central to most of the good stuff we’ve done since he’s been here. That’s also the reason there’s a load of interest from other clubs in him. We might net out ok, but the idea his ability is some kind of myth or it’d be good to sell him is daft.

If I've got one fault from last night, it was the amount of chances they had. They were always going to attack being the home side though i suppose. Still, an early goal next week and a bout of the shits for Rowe should see us through.

Third goal is crucial because at 1-2 they would have came at us like a train next week. They can't do that now because they'll know the score line will get beyond them very quickly.

I think they’ll come at us like a train anyway.
They will know those tactics can go one of two ways, but they’ll need throw everything at us early to try and grab a quick goal.

Rogers is paying the price that every quality player pays when they 'burst' on the scene. They get more tightly marked. At the moment, all opposition managers will devise a plan to target Rogers.

This is his next challenge. Currently, Rogers is getting flustrated, narky, losing his focus and on occasion, throwing the towel in.

But he is young, extremely talented and under the guidance of Unai will overcome this hurdle. Mentally and physically.

Martinez was my MoM. One top-drawer save, and he dictated the tempo of our play for long stretches. Which is a strange thing to say about a goalkeeper.

Honorable mentions for Torres and Watkins - the goals were more down to mistakes from Bologna, but he deserved a break for the constant harrying and pressing. Also McGinn, who although he didn't quite manage to resolve the Rowe dilemma with Cash, did drag us up the pitch a few times, especially in the first half. Digne was solid. Onana was the most consistent midfielder, I thought, but Tielemans, when he finally got himself going, was the most effective.

Cash had a nightmare with Rowe. Buendia and Rogers couldn't get settled on the ball when we needed them to in the first 45, but grew into the game second half. Konsa, despite the goal, looked vulnerable with Castro. Poor old Leon did "a Sancho" that even the great man would have been proud of.
