Detectives have provided a major update on their investigation into a fatal hit-and-run which killed an Aston Villa fan.

Sean Harron died from his injuries after he was struck by a brown Vauxhall Astra near the junction of Romsley Road and Adams Hill in Bartley Green just after 12.30am on Sunday, April 26.

The 44-year-old was rushed to hospital but died later.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene in the direction of Jiggins Lane. BirminghamLive understands no arrests had been made.

West Midlands Police, providing an update on its investigation today, said officers had recovered the vehicle suspected of being involved in the fatal crash.

It was being forensically examined by detectives.

A force spokesperson said: "We're continuing our investigation into a fatal hit-and-run near the junction of Romsley Road and Adams Hill just after 12.30am on Sunday.

"Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this deeply distressing time.

"We'd ask anyone who was in the area or may have dashcam footage as they drove through at around the time of the collision, to get in contact."

Anyone with information about this incident should contact the force by calling 101, quoting log number 113 of April 26.

Information can also be shared anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
