If Emery didn't want the players to be sold, we would not be selling them.  Give the man some credit.  From what Vinnie is saying, I am guessing, if we sign Jackson, the fee will be some thing like 25mill, plus add ons that shoot the price up very quickly but only the 25 comes out of this years profit.  Hopefully, we still have three or four incoming in that case and have a good few quid to spend.

If we sign Jackson I can’t see anyway the fee is anywhere near that low.

Agree, Chelsea will likely want nearer £50m to £60m

Which is what others have been saying, except we only pay £25m up front and then another £25m in add ons?!?

I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see the squad that starts this season being better than the squad that ended last season......

Almost certainly correct. On the flip side, could last years squad muster the energy to ‘go again” under Emery’s level of intensity. I don’t they could and we would’ve been worse off anyway.

We’ve also signed potential. In theory, next year should be the lowest point.

If Villa really have the pick of Chelsea's litter, it would be better getting Delap over Jackson. I mean they're both crap strikers but Liam is younger, English and more likely to command a world British fee when we flog him on in two years after getting an assist in the 2028 euros. The big money is in the young english lads.

I think you need to look at their respective stats at Chelsea.  Delap something like 3 goals in 28, Jackson 30 in 81 according to Wiki.  Jackson’s isn’t too bad being he was playing for a basket case of a team

Jackson looks like a straight replacement for Watkins to me :-)

Really? Emery wanted Rogers and Tielemans to be sold?

I’m sure Unai sees the value in reinvesting in the squad, great players though they are, he will be trying to spread the quality throughout.  He needed money to do this, the squad needed breaking up or reinventing.  We cannot have it both ways.

That’s different to wanting to sell them though. In Tielemans case he had no choice and I suspect he grudgingly accepted Rogers going.

I do think Jackson is a replacement for Watkins. I just have a glimmer that if we sold Tammy, Guessard and Bailey, we could keep Watkins and Jackson and Jackson could play on the right and through the middle

Guessand has had his first season to adjust, we could see the making of him this year. The real Guessand. The player we believed we were getting when he signed. Who's with me?  8)

I would like to be with you, but I'm not, I just don't see what he's good at..... apart from having a good work rate.
both the goals he scored for us last season, he didn't mean either of them.
I have hope for him, but not a lot.
