Anyone who thinks we can spend vast amounts of money off the back of the Rogers sale might be in for a shock.

Manzambi is the replacement they've chosen. They will now sign a winger for 40-45m a replacement left back for Digne, and possibly add a loan midfielder to cover Onana and add cover at right back.

They'll also sell Watkins and Konsa if they get a suitable offer.

We're where we are because of some of the wages we've handed out in the last two years.

Unai will make us competitive but he may have to try and reintegrate Guessand or add a youth player to the squad.
I bet you are fun at parties 😉

No to J Rowe for me. Beyond one good game against us what is it that makes him a particularly compelling signing?

Absolutely, one good game where Cash was standing off to not get a yellow, completely anonymous when Cash played properly in the 2nd leg

I still thought he was their best player in the second game. I didn’t know about the head butt. Add that to being kicked out of Marseille and there’s enough question marks to avoid the move.

Linked to Leao in Italian press this am. Interesting restoration ish project for Unai if anything in it.

Lukey - I think there will be 2 wingers in, we wanted at least 1 before Rogers went, plus another midfielder to cover Onana/ Tielemans. After that a couple of cost effective full backs and we are probably done.

Anyone with any football finance understanding.... if we sold Ollie for £45m to Turkey (or Arsenal, can see that coming back round) and signed Jackson for £70 ish, how do Uefa then see the Rogers deal on the SCR books?

😂 I'm sorry, some of the nonsense I've read on social media though saying we're free of PSR problems is v wide of the mark.

We've got Unai and are in the CL so I'm still positive but it's tough losing your best players.

Replacing two players of the quality of Tielemans and Rogers will take some doing.  Hoping for a magic wand from Unai because they are top quality players.

I doubt PSR is an issue, it’s SCR that’s the problem.

Like for like, it’d be almost impossible. However if we can

1. add more depth to the squad
2. Sign some players for the future
3. Avoid being at the mercy of accountants

Then there’s positives to be found.

By my reckoning, we have moved on 11 players so far, if Rogers signs for Chelsea.  That must be making a hell of a dent in SCR and a chance to do some permanent fixing, I would hope.

Yeah my brain hurts with it all.

But 70% is the figure we need to be at for our wages, fees, amortisation compared to our revenue. The Rogers sale means for me they can bring one mid transfer in for a winger (40-45m) and then the full backs and midfield cover for Amadou.

It'll probably still be tight, they might have a big loan in for another attacking player but I imagine that would be a decision to make v close to deadline day.

I want Rashford if we're singing a forward/wide player.

Bollocks to Jack or JJ, neither are good enough and we need to look forward not to the past.

Agree completely.

And me.

But you are good enough.

Do we not think that Emery preferred Kamara and Onana with Tielemans at 10? That would make us quite interesting with Kamara and Gomes with Manzambi at 10. Then add in Palhinha to the mix, and some width and it looks very athletic.

We have already spent the money from two sales so don't expect any big signing. We'll get £95M net for Rogers after Boro share  and we have spent £98M on Manzambi, Gomes and Estupinan. Tielemans money will be used in addressing SCR etc.
