Loan for a season to cover Onana would be ideal as it's about as cheap an option we'd have for a decent replacement.

Exactly, that's why I was really hoping that deal would come off.

Aston Villa and SL Benfica are currently the most concrete options for João Palhinha.

Despite reports, Palhinha is not expected to be at Aston Villa today. There is still no agreement with any club at this stage.

Bayern are looking to sell not loan.

Bugger.

Yep, he’s an older player on a big contract that they do not need. Tough to shift as we know. They can keep him and pay his mega wage, let him go for a low fee (but will teams pay it and stump up his wage?). It’s clear Benfica wouldn’t be able to afford his wages.  if I was the player, I would have a year in the premier league on current wages, before moving back home. From Bayerns perspective they’ll probably take a loan fee and defer the big decision until next season, rather than being stuck with him.

No news yet on Bailey. I expect him to go this summer if Emery isn’t going to use him.

He has one year left on his deal, so one way or another it should be possible to get a move agreed.

So far in this window we have managed to hold on to Leon and Evann which is plus plus. How good that we could be starting the season with two hungry marauding forwards in our squad

I'm always hungry. Doesn't make me good at football though.

Reports in Portugal that Joao Palhinha is heading for his medical and we’ve agreed a loan deal with €25m buy option;

Hopefully the option is not an Elliot-style one, if so.

Good deal, we can send him to Small Heath to train after the first seven.

Coventry linked to Ross Barkley

been hearing this for weeks at 8 million.  lets hope

I was expecting he'd be here for the last year. He's been good for us (when fit), but if we can get a fee for him we should probably do it.

excellent when fit but another year older so maybe more injuries . Take the money and run.

Don’t think I’ve hated a player as much as Palhinha since that bastard that handled the ball over the line to score for the baggies years ago

Now I find myself wanting to see him wearing the Villa shirt
It’s true we are fickle

If half of them are Manure , well worth it.

I know but I think he will be good for us.  Just what we need.
