My view is that Konsa, Cash, Rogers, Tielamans, Watkins, those players in particular are where they are largely because of Unai Emery,
Good players made better because they buy into Emery’s system and coaching techniques
Rogers could well still be slopping around at Middlesbrough if it wasn’t for Unai

I’m not sure any of them I mentioned above will be the same player under another manager
They owe him their careers, I know that sounds a bit over the top, but it’s what I truly believe
I mean can you imagine Arteta will keep playing Rogers when he was on that run of absolute abysmal performances,  every game a starter every game 90 minutes until he came good, no way he’s warming the bench and struggling to find form.

They might go on to win certain things if they go to the right club but like Grealish their best football will have been played at Villa
It’s all down to Unai Emery for me

It’s not bitter grapes from me if any of these players go, I just think that Emery is a truly exceptional manager We’ve got
we do it because we have the best manager other teams to do it because they’ve got the money to spend on the best players. That’s what makes us competitive and that’s what makes the difference up

Now I am fearing a meteor strike. Unless it lands on the Sty. Then it's ok.

All the birds just screeched and took off at once in a panic. Has something happened?

I think if we’ve learned one thing, with Youri and Lucas moving on, it’s that minimum release clauses might prevent us denying anyone a move this summer.

Now, Youri will have had one because he was a free transfer and I’m sure Lucas got one when he signed his new contract last year on lower weekly wages. So whether any other important first teamers have them or not remains to be seen. But if they do, there is very little we can do to prevent them leaving.

It’s a big summer, the rebuild we all know was needed is now officially underway, and I have faith Unai and his team will do enough to ensure we’re competitive next season…

We learnt it with Benteke, Delph and Grealish.

But on both cases they're above market value really.

Digne is 32, realistically he's worth about £5-6m and we're getting more like £8m.
Tielemans is 29 and has started to have a few injury problems, £25-30m is probably fair and we've got £35m.

On that basis I reckon it's safe to say we know what we're doing and we'll have any other release clauses set to a similar level where we get 20% more than most people would value them. The only exception would be someone whose form has pushed their value significantly since their last contract and I don't think that's the case with anyone. Protecting the value of our key players is one of the things we've been brilliant at since we came back up.

Tielemans at £35 mil is an absolute steal. Even at 29

Maybe but I doubt many fans of other teams would agree, which is the more important measure in this case.

If we’d have paid money for tielemans, I think more
People would be saying it’s a steal at £35 million. Which it is

If we'd paid more (any) money for Tielemans, he wouldn't have been in a position to demand a £72m -> £54m -> £36m release clause.

Absolutely, as somebody just mentioned on a podcast, without the clause he's a £50m player.

Yeah but a 200k a week 5 year contract for a 29 year old - we are never going to start making that mistake again.

Shay Given was signed at 35 on a five year contract on a rumoured £150k a week. That will take some beating.
As I said before, they'll sell Tielemans to Saudi Arabia within the next two summer windows and probably get their money back assuming his legs haven't completely gone.
