Garcia to Getafe confirmed, but loan and no mention of buy clause;

https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2026/july/16/news-garcia-makes-getafe-loan-move/

Not sure we want a buy clause, just want him to go somewhere and play the season, his value in Jan or next summer should be back to what we paid by then IF he plays

Perhaps, yeah. He hasn't played much football, so his value is going to be at a low ebb right now.

Hypothetically if these players sign, then Morgan goes, do we have enough to get Rowe and Mbaye for example?

Pretty sure if Rogers goes we can do more or less what we like.

Interesting to see how Olabe gets on in this transfer window. The players we are linked to all seem to be ones that Emery has worked with before (Estupian), or we played against last season (Manzambi, Gomes, Palinha). That feels to me like Emery is having a big influence on identifying targets.

In which case, with the midfield rebuild, I can see us cashing him in and looking to sign 2 attacking players, maybe 3.

Well of course we played against Palinha and Gomes. They play in the PL.

But he does like to pick up an opposition player. Rogers for instance. I hope he’s unearthed another one of those.

As someone pointed out previously, we've sold the best part of £50m and reduced the wage bill by £1m per week since the end of the season.  Surely that gives us some room to trade.

Still got Bailey and Guessand to move on as well...

Isnt the UEFA thing a net psotiive transfer balance?
£90m spent which still makes me think the Rogers sale will be the one that balances it all out.

Are we not close to breakeven with Digne, Youri, Malen, Enzo, Dobbin etc…..

Good shout. If we can get slightly profitable (against book value) amounts for Ned, Bailey, Guessand and Bogarde I’ll be more optimistic.

We’re at about £80m sold, if you include Digne, before you add anything for Onana, aren’t we?

Maybe. I think it’s impossible for enthusiastic laymen like us to know exactly where we are, but another positive is that fees in & out are averaged (by UEFA) over three years, so for instance there’s £13m from JJ to add in,  a third of whatever we made from Duran etc. And only a third of what we’re spending/receiving now of course.

Ah interesting, I didn’t realise that.

I hope not, particularly if one of those was Rowe.

Which is why I think Rowe will be high on his targets if Rogers goes.

Right now, I’m hoping we can scrape up enough money (or SCR headroom) to get Mbaye, plus the Kamara-killer on loan, and keep everybody we’d like to.

Edit: Oh, and a RB & LB. Seems difficult after my edit. Bogarde, Guessand & Bailey are the key I think.

If we can get rid of Guessand, Bailey and Bogarde, its probably £40m in fees and likely closer to £50m with wages combined towards headroom.

We also still have a few of the younglings who are likely to be moved on;

Iling-Junior, Aloba, O'Reilly, Ned, Feeney, and Sousa (if you can remember he exists).
