Why do you think two multi-billionaire owners might not have the money to pay the fines? They have, and that’s why they don’t care about them.

I'm sure your're right but infringing the rules, which results in those fines, doesn't seem to be benefiting us unlike others who carry  on regardless.

Adding Digne and Tielemans to the list, accounting for amortisation and bonuses it's over £50m now I'd guess.

If it allows us buy Manzambi and keep Rogers...not bad.

I wonder is the £25m or so Conor Gallagher would have cost still available to us?

They will be able to carry on regardless no matter what set of rules are in place. The goal posts will always be moved to benefit the ''Super League'' clubs and keep them in pole position. We are almost certainly never going to become a Man Utd or Liverpool so lets just enjoy what is a supremely positive phase in our history and move on past FFP/ SCR and it's effects on competition and enjoy being such a unique club in a true footballing cathedral of a stadium with wonderful owners and one of the best managers in the game.

True, but it’s the sporting sanctions that worry them. That’s why they sold Villa Park & the women’s team, and spent a fortune on The Warehouse, and another fortune buying it - because breaching domestic rules would have resulted in points deductions. The UEFA fines don’t register as a negative in the accounts, and we only want to comply because we don’t want to get banned from Europe.

I personally think these owners - at least in the short-term - won’t mind incurring financial penalties if it facilitates spending on the squad, as that’s what’s happened up to now.

On the other hand, we could move too quickly for rule changes to affect us negatively, and end up joining the Super League clubs so any future rule changes affect us positively. If we were in a big 7, generating revenue much closer to the big 6, would we be in favour of that? I’m pretty sure the owners would.

As long as we have unai and these owners we’ll be there or there abouts.  Woild
Much rather be in our position than Spurs or Man Utd.

It’s sad to see any of the current bunch of players go - cos they’ve all done us proud - but isn’t it nice from them to leave on a high without any doom or gloom.

Hopefully a bit of a refresh is what we need - and if this means we get to keep some of the other players that might have otherwise gone then so much the better.

Think there will be a few more twists and turns but any of the players go with my best wishes - as they’ve played a key role in a great period of his history

I understand we've sold Barrenechea for around £12m. Dobbin for £9m and Barry around £5m. So that's raised around £26m plus Tielemans £35m and Digne £9m. So, around £70m total so far. We'll need a new LB, RB, Midfielder,  Winger, Striker minimum. Thoughts?

Geeze, what happened today?  I went to bed and we had signed Manzambi.  Wake up today and Tielemans and Digne are gone.  I don't want to go to sleep anymore.

It would be good to pick-up someone to replace Digne with a profile like Adrien Truffert, who we were linked with before he signed for Bournemouth. They initially spent £11.4m rising to £14m on him.

We now need…

2 wide options
Holding Mid
Left back
Right back
Versatile mid that replaces Youri

Quite a bit of work to do!

It always felt like this was a team that would need a refresh this summer, and that is what we are seeing happening.

Malen's fee is also to be taken into account (but only a year and a half of amortisation off his purchase price).

Yep. Manzambi is a great start. If he plays the Youri role in midfield as an 8 rather than further forward then it makes sense for us to have gone in for him so quickly, but we still need a couple more in there. Bouba just off a MCL injury, Barkley slow and better at 10 really, got to go and buy 2 mids for me as it is so pivotal to the way Emery operates.

Add in the others out, I don’t think we need another striker with Tammy, Ollie and Madjo, but we certainly need 2 wide options.

Yep. Inevitable. The beauty is we got the trophy, got CL which puts us in a much healthier place to recruit solid replacements.
