Louie Barrry on 35k a week? Really?

Think it’s £40k actually. Wilson is on more…

£8,700 a week according to Salary Sport.

It was Tanswell that reported it.

If we really are paying Barry that much, we’re nuts.

He came from Barcelona and we thought he was going to be the next big thing.  I guess we had to make it worth his while to come to Villa.  It was either 35 or 40 grand a week being reported.

It was Tanswell that reported it.

Barry’s salary? I was on about Wilson’s.

Not sure who reported Barry’s salary, but it’s old news from when he signed his latest contract. As demonstrated by this article from when he was 22.

“Louie Barry earns £35,000 per week, £1,820,000 per year playing for Aston Villa as a AM RLC. Louie Barry's net worth is £3,542,240. Louie Barry is 22 years old and was born in England. His current contract expires June 30, 2029.”

It was no surprise to me, and it makes me wonder if people are up in arms now and not then because they thought he was worth it after his prolific season and his move on loan to the Championship.

No, he wasn’t on that when he first arrived from Barca. I believe he was on 10k a week before he signed his big contract last summer, and even that was an uplift from when he first signed.

If we thought we were buying the next Bellingham, would £35k seem just as ludicrous?

It would if he wasn't.

So a journalist knows how much a player is paid - does he ask them to show him there payslips - where does he get this private info from?

It is a shame that the journalist does not what our FOS will be or who we are trying to buy

It was a Daily Mail journalist, Sid. One of the good guys. He was probably told by somebody wealthier than him, so he's just doing the right thing.

Journalists would never try and get hold of information hidden from them, it's not in their nature.
