On Bowen

good character
Isn’t injury prone
Mach winner
Proven
100% effort
Team player
Causes trouble in the opposition box

It’s a yes from me

age profile and high costs are the only negatives

Don't think Emery is all that concerned with age profile of the squad but players and teams can decline quickly.

I really like Bowen but not sure he's a good tactical fit either. Means moving McGinn out of his best position to accommodate him a lot of the time. Better than Bailey, Guessand or Sancho isn't much of a bar. Wouldn't be surprised to see him back with Moyes at Everton, be a better fit there and if Grealish stays they would be decent together.

He’s as close to a guaranteed get what it says on the tin performer as your going to get

if it’s 50 mill it’s a lot of money but not as much as 25 mill for Guesannd if you know what I mean but more than the 3 mill we paid for McGinn

The difference though is that we'll get most of that money back on Guessand, whereas Bowen would be burning most of it as his value would half as soon as the ink was dry. That's not to say he's a bad signing but it is a huge sum for someone who'll be 30 by the next window.

If, for whatever reason, it doesn't work out we'd just have to eat the loss. That makes it just as big a gamble as throwing £25m at a 23/24 year old who is coming off a 23 goal and assist season in France.

I'm not against it but I don't like the idea of throwing so much of our limited funds into the wind.

Bowen is proven though and we need to put together a string of CL consecutive qualifications to get UEFA off our backs and really challenge the big guns. Bowen getting into double-figures for goals and assists each season over the next 3 years, pays back the investment.

^^^ 3 years is very optimistic.

A loan until they come back up seems a no-brainer to me.

I have no evidence of that and I care even less. Everton fan Steven Gerrard probably hated Liverpool growing up but he still did quite well for them. He's still a twat, mind.

I'd be happy with that too, we seem to discard and swap-in a winger or two every year anyway.

But I don't see why Bowen can't still be effective at 32, he doesn't rely on his speed, he's strong technically and is a great finisher.

If Hackney goes to Everton for £16m then I would say it’s a good bit of business. Good age, and had a decent season last year.

Unless you are responsible for West Ham’s financial situation.
Then you would be a no- brainer to think that is a good idea.

Bowen and McGinn sharing the position should keep their OAP legs fresh.  Alysson coming on for pace after 70 minutes.

I'm coming around to the idea, but its not a £25m+ good idea.

Aston Villa winger Alysson ‘wants to move’ from Villa Park to secure regular game time, it has been claimed in Turkey, with Trabzonspor on his trail.

I don't know what you mean, but happy to leave it there.
So Bowen would get to rundown his contract and his value would significantly decrease over that period, for a player who is 29 so virtually no resale value.
Whereas they could receive a substantial sum £30 million + as pure profit whilst at the same time getting his £150k a week salary off the books.
It’s difficult to see how a loan would make much sense unless they could charge a huge fee to compensate. A fee that no one is likely to pay.

Well I would suggest Dante is saying it would be a no-brainer for us and that he doesn't give much of a fuck about West Ham.

I have no idea how much Dan Bardell does or doesn't know, but at one point I remember him saying that Alysson, at one of the periods he wasn't in the squad, stated that he has been made aware that he wasn't injured and just wasn't in the squad. No idea if there is any truth to that, it just stuck out to me when he said it.

Did Tanswell say before that we wanted Rayan but couldn't SCR him whereas Bmouth could?
