He’s as close to a guaranteed get what it says on the tin performer as your going to get

if it’s 50 mill it’s a lot of money but not as much as 25 mill for Guesannd if you know what I mean but more than the 3 mill we paid for McGinn

If it’s a case of one or the other it’s definitely got to be Somervile please. Wouldn’t be against both, Bowen on loan maybe given his age. A season loan might suit them actually.

I've read a lot of West Ham's opinions on Somerville and most of them don't give a shit about him being sold. They say he goes missing for really long periods.
that's my view, too.

Everyone goes missing at the London Stadium unless you have a telescope.

Bowen would be ideal for us, just a few years too late. But hey, it ain’t my money, so go get him…

He’d have a similar impact to Snodgrass I reckon, we will love him.

Exactly as I see it, Frank. He'll do for a couple of seasons and he has that Snoddy air about him. A hard working winger with talent.

If we do sign Bowen, to me it makes it slightly more likely Morgan is off. As if he stays you have one open spot in the first eleven and with the rest of the side established, you can take a risk on finding a player for the next 5+ years. But if Morgan goes, you want to replace with at least one player that ensures you don't get worse the short term, while also aking a few more longer term bets

It's hard to find a winger and a woman who will consistently show-up.

The difference though is that we'll get most of that money back on Guessand, whereas Bowen would be burning most of it as his value would half as soon as the ink was dry. That's not to say he's a bad signing but it is a huge sum for someone who'll be 30 by the next window.

If, for whatever reason, it doesn't work out we'd just have to eat the loss. That makes it just as big a gamble as throwing £25m at a 23/24 year old who is coming off a 23 goal and assist season in France.

I'm not against it but I don't like the idea of throwing so much of our limited funds into the wind.

£50m is ridiculous for Bowen. Even at half the price I'd be wondering what the hell our scouts do. I fear Unai is going to leave us one day with a team of pensioners.

Yep, I’m getting Danny Ings vibes with the thought of Bowen joining us.

I don’t think it will be £50m. Are West Ham in a position to play hard ball when they’re losing money hand over fist and are nailed on for breaches in the Championship?

I'm guessing it depends what happens with their other big assets.

If they get the £130m they claim to want for Fernandes and Summerville then maybe they can be a bit more picky about bids for Bowen.

talking of Bowen , a yes for me .

he would have more goals and assists x20 than evann , jadon , harvey and Leon put together.

Get us back in champs league , the age and value doesnt matter and bring a younger guy in next season to learn off him.

Alysson?

Nobody is paying anything like £50m for Bowen. £30m maximum & not many will pay that & certainly nobody above us will. His fee & wages would be covered by Bailey & Guessand.

It would seem to be a safe purchase, proven ability, scores, creates chances & works hard. We need players who are capable here & now.

Sorry for the pessimism but we risk having no one to sell in a few years time. I cannot see us bridging the FFP gap from increased commercial revenues alone, so we need to have one eye on who can be sold and Bowen is not that player.

Maybe the youth system will provide that opportunity. But that feels optimistic give how rarely Emery plays them and the limited opportunities next season.

Ultimately Emery wants control and having accountants dictate what he must do will eventually piss him off.

Yes. The main objection I would have to signing Bowen is his age. That and the whole Danny Dyer thing he would bring with him.
